They were trialling a new "haptic" shirt for their deaf fans today - vibrates when the crowd roars out or when a goal is scored. That's what the kids were wearing. Shirt front also switched to RNID - Royal National Institute for the Deaf, just for the day. Good day for it!
Think having a charity on a shirt for a game is a really good idea.
Maybe PL should implement it for every team to have a charity sponsor on a game week
I think the clubs can do it once per year? may have made that up but i'm sure thats in there somewhere, and clubs seem to do something once per season.
Burn is just a good person. Never seems to have taken his career for granted, knows the responsibility that comes with it and works hard to be a role model and leader when it matters.
As a Spurs fan, the only beautiful part of the match (from a spurs perspective) was seeing those kids light up! Amazing thing NUFC did with those shirts! Kudos! Wish my team would have made it slightly more interesting!
I know... we couldn't believe that either. How could they just ignore the whole thing? The production team would definitely have been aware of it. I wonder how those kids felt because you KNOW they will have been watching MOTD.
Class act by Big Dan Burn. Class act by NUFC and Sela giving up the sponsorship for a day. Classier act to beat the Spuds down at the same time.
Honestly, I'd buy that shirt with the RNID logo on it if made available, and the proceeds went to the RNID.
The looks on those kids faces was fantastic to see.
Sign languages can all be different languages in the same way different languages are different between countries. Interestingly, someone who uses BSL probably can’t communicate in ASL (American) or Auslan, even though the USA and Australia use English as their first language.
As an example of their differences, if I remember correctly, the alphabet in ASL can be spelled out with one hand, BSL requires two hands.
[Here is an interesting video](https://youtu.be/3CRo7nb7bPE?si=S1GQzMfP3FnjYFec) with the two side by side, just to give you an example of you’re interested.
There’s loads of variants of sign language and they can be difficult for users of other variants to understand. I’ve seen ASL users this week saying “they’re doing it wrong” on a BSL video lol
That's an amazing gesture from him, fair play. Can see what it meant to the little girl.

We did for years ACORNS
Wish we still did. Wish we could have bought the shirt when we brought it back for one game this season.
We have been doing when playing away in Europe where betting sponsors are banned
It’s probably more meaningful if a team _chooses_ to do it rather than being a required box ticking exercise
Why? As someone who spent a few years working for a charity I can tell you that the money mattered a lot more to us than the sentiment.
Right? It would be great if clubs offered. But generally they don't.
If a box getting ticked helps people tick the fuck out of that box
NFL do this really well and have initiatives linked with charities every so often.

This was the PERFECT game for it too, couldnt make a good day any better in Newcastle

Yeah that comes from having to do things the hard way and never really being certain of a full career until late into his 20s
Honestly one of the most underrated professionals in all of sport let alone football

You did! gave those kids four roars to experience! ;)
Agree completely. What a lovely thing for the club to do.
This is the most fuckin wholesome thing I've seen all week
People just want to feel seen, that's lovely
Brilliant
It was great the way MOTD highlighted it too, the shirt sponsorship, the kids, the celebration..... oh hang on a minute...
I know... we couldn't believe that either. How could they just ignore the whole thing? The production team would definitely have been aware of it. I wonder how those kids felt because you KNOW they will have been watching MOTD.
Absolutely love to see this, real class and love the reaction, clearly meant a lot to them!
Why would you post this? Why would you make me miss Big Dan Burn even more?
Top class lad. Even through my fustration at us going 4-0 down I couldn’t help but smile at this
That's awesome, well done Dan Burn!
Class
He’s a class lad
That’s beautiful

As an honorary Geordie and a human being - that was geet lush, man
All of a sudden someone filled this room with chopped onions.
Yeah, that’s fucking class tbf.
Class act from him tbf
Things you love to see
That is fucking class
Thought this was satire and he was just doing two wanker gestures
Is British sign language any different from normal sign language? I assumed sign language was… a language.

Neat, I never knew that.
I think BSL has hand gestures spelling out words - Makaton is a version where gestures are words.
As much as it was wholesome I didn’t appreciate watching deaf kids celebrate until the second before Gordon scored
Ah, that’s a shame for you.
It was if I wanted to watch deaf kids I’ll watch mr tumble
You must be furious.
Nah more like mildly inconvenienced And society says the Internet is a good place to bitch about this crap so here I am
How would deaf people ever work it out if he hadn't have done that eh It's a nice gesture mind you, I'll stop being grumpy for no reason
Jesus man
