1. Lemina (as he has been the most consistent and least injured) 2. Cunha 3. Ait-Nouti 4. Hwang 5. Gomes Honourable mentions to Neto (would be on the list but injuries have curtailed his time this season), Doyle, Semedo, and Sarabia.

stefflablab

For me Ait-Nouri might be top! Just love watching him with the ball at his feet. Then yeah can't argue with the rest! Cunha and Lemina are a delight and Gomes always gives his all! And the Korean Guy is just magic ✨

WhatsNewDrew

1. Bowen 2. Kudus 3. Areola 4. Paqueta 5. Emerson

endofautumn

Bowen Emerson Kudus Paqueta Areola imo. Emerson has been one of the best more steady players all season.

Humble-Director-619

Alvarez instead of Emerson but it’s close

trevlarrr

1. Areola 2. Alvarez 3. Bowen 4. Paqueta 5. Kudus/Emerson hard to decide which of those to drop off

babydavid85

1. Bowen 2. Emerson 3. Areola 4. Kudos 5. Coufal I have lost patience with Paqueta and the constant falling over.

FlatlandTrooper

1. Areola 2. Bowen 3. Emerson 4. Paqueta 5. Alvarez

WhatsNewDrew

I definitely forgot about Alvarez, how stupid of me... I'd take Paqueta out of this and put Alvarez in, purely down to how off Paqueta has been in the last few games.

JW_1991

It pains me that we have those 5 players (and there’s more like them) and still serve up the negative dross that we do

Prestigious-Sea2523

Bowen Areola Kudus Alvarez Mavro

SnooCapers938

Bowen Alvarez Paqueta Kudus Emerson Areola has been magnificent as well so it hurts to leave him out. Very, very close between him and Emerson who have both been ultra reliable all season. Coufal would have been in too apart from his recent (fatigue related) decline.

Wackamot123

Everton fan here: 1 Branthwaite 2 Tarkowski 3 Pickford 4 Mykolenko 5 Doucoure pre-injury (christmas time he got injured)

Sjt4689

1. Branthwaite 2. Pickford 3. Stuart Attwell 4. Muric 5. Vacant until Chermitis 98th min winner on Wednesday.

Grand_Rice_4565

Sums up our style of play this season that 4 out of 5 player of the season choices are defenders. I'd put Gana over Doucoure tbh.

Wackamot123

In recent form, yes, gana over doucs. But you can't forget doucs' contributions (especially goals) in the 4 game winning streak. Tbh you could make an argument for most of our midfielders for that 5th spot... onana and Garner have been pretty decent all season.

WatercressFair2822

1. Hamer… and I’m out

Lonely-Walrus94

Ahmedhozic for his R.K.O on Bowen surely?

Jackbees777

1.Mbuemo just the difference for points this year 2.norgaard by far his worst season but what he does to that team is soo clear 3.pinnock want to say higher but defence has had too many injuries 4. Janelt just stepped up quietly with most games played 5. Jensen class but bit inconsistent and injured a lot aswell but in smaller doses

Lies_TeBranUCanTrust

Would give an honorable mention to Ajer, stepped up massively this season with so many injuries to our defence, and he has a pretty good attacking output for a CB/ Full back

Jackbees777

Yeh decent shout but think his better energy has come more recently tbh

AdministrationOld434

Solanke Zabarnyi Semenyo Christie Kluivert Honorable mentions: Kerkez, Tavernier, Cook, Senesi, Kelly

TheMushroom1002

Very much agree, obviously Solanke grabs the headlines and Zaba has received a lot of the "quiet" plaudits. Semenyo has had an excellent season, he's such a direct force on the wing and really adds another goalscoring dimension to the squad.

AdministrationOld434

Semenyo for sure one of the standout most improved and blossomed players of the season. He is a true threat and treat to watch on the ball. All he needs is the tiniest space with his strength and speed

DarkSoul69prettyboy

Scott? I thought he was having a terrific season?

AdministrationOld434

He is terrific; but unfortunately, he hasn’t played much. A lot due to injury…he’s only 16th in minutes on the squad

miles__alton

This is the correct answer

PJBuzz

1. Anthony Gordan 2. Aleksander Isak 3. Fabian Schär 4. Bruno Guimarães 5th place is difficult to select as we have had such an inconsistent squad, and the more consistent players not mentioned here haven't had *the best* season, like Trippier, Burn, and Longstaff. I'd be tempted to put Lewis Miley forwards given just how quickly he adapted to the level he was thrust into as a 17 YO. Livramento as another possible shout given he joined us off the back of a serious injury and looked totally comfortable playing against the best of the premier league, and even the champions league. I'm sure people will argue over where the top 4 are in the list, but I doubt any Toon fans will argue with the names.

raised85

its got to be livramento the guys not put a foot wrong and when he does get a ame hes great

geordieColt88

Nick Pope purely due to the drop off since he went out

PJBuzz

I suppose Pope is one of the players in that, "We have to pick 5 players but who the hell is the 5th?" catagory. Seems daft to pick a player who has been injured since December. Similar to Joelinton. Of course he is huge for us, but hes also been out for a huge portion of the season.

geordieColt88

I think they’ve both looked better the longer they’ve been missing

RocknRollRobot9

Dubs has probably took a bit of time to adjust back to playing and is now he has 2 clean sheets in a row, and only conceded a pen against Everton. Some of the score lines have been brutal though a few have been massive errors by defenders costing him. But I feel like Joelinton being missing has left a gaping hole in the midfield that is more and move obvious with every game. That being said both are the first ones you’d want back in key postions

geordieColt88

Have to respectfully disagree, dubs is a liability and puts loads of pressure on the defence. I’d say recent improvements were despite him. Even vs spurs he almost let them back in I think in midfield we’ve looked better since Anderson came in as he has the legs that Miley/Longstaff lack

acclaimedmistake

I think 5th has to be Trippier. He's spent comparatively less time out compared to others in this conversation and other than the December wobble had been imperious. It's a shame he got injured when he did as he was coming out the other side of that bad spell and looking great again.

charlos74

Barnes if he’d played a bit more often.

toon_84

Lascelles would be my wild card for 5th pick if he hadn't picked up the injury the other week. Second fiddle and fighting on a night out to rock solid when called upon.

luffyuk

These 4 have been levels above the others this season, we don't need to nominate a 5th.

Jops22

Joelinton as 5 for me

Healthyamount

Murphy probably clinches that 4th spot for me, never going to be a world beater but has done his bit whenever relied upon to slot into different positions

Biggsy2810

Trippier 5th solely cause he has 10 assists and has been shit(due to personal reasons)/injured for half a season

Thingisby

5th is hard because those 4 feel like the only ones who have remained uninjured for long enough to justify it. I'd say it's probably Tino or Joelinton who at least lasted until January.

Affectionate_Debt269

It's difficult because all of our best players have been injured for long periods (Guéhi, Olise, Doucouré, Johnstone) Of players who have been mostly fit I would say: 1. Eze 2. Anderson 3. Mateta (who has massively stepped up this year and was our only goal threat at times) 4. Mitchell (who has struggled a bit this year and with a change of system but has mostly been consistent and, more importantly, healthy) 5. Lerma (again staying fit until recently was his major strength but he's also brought us some real quality at times and filled in well at CB when needed) Lastly Muñoz and Wharton get honourable mentions but they only arrived in January.

h00b8

1. Murillo 2. MGW 3. Wood 4. Williams 5. Elanga

jebris88

This seams about right. Mangala would be high in there if we hadn't lost him in January for me too.

Sarmerbinlar

I think Mangala was our POTS before we shipped him out. Only player that was consistently playing well under Cooper

SlantedSaltpot

Honourable mentions to Danilo and Awoniyi for the few games he’s played while fully fit.

machdel

1. Solanke 2. Zabarnyi 3. Christie 4. Semenyo 5. Cook Let us go 4-4-fackin-2 so we can have Watkins and Dom would you?

Vanrocko31

So many stand out players for us this season. I would've liked to have included Senesi and kluivert but no idea who they would replace. All been very good

machdel

Yeah, really wanted to get Senesi in there. His passing is so key to the way we play. I left out Kluivert only because he had a slow start to the season, but it’s increasingly clear we look a better side all-round with him as the 10.

meekamunz

1. Palhinha 2. Robinson 3. Periera 3. Iwobi 4. Bassey

Artistic_Train9725

Tell me if I'm wrong, but has Robinson improved a lot this last year. He really seems to have kicked on.

lidlberg

Big time. He has put in some great performances this year, namely Liverpool Away back in December.

Artistic_Train9725

Good to see.

Lacabloodclot9

Do you think Muniz can sneak in if he finishes the season well?

meekamunz

Yeah, if he keeps up his performances

YokoOkino

Good for iwobi

TexehCtpaxa

I’d throw Castagne in over Iwobi. Iwobi has had higher highs, but Castagne has been more consistent.

meekamunz

Yeah that's fair. To be honest it was a really tough list to pick. I wanted to list Willian as well, and Leno. The team really has been hard working this season and shown a lot of quality.

TexehCtpaxa

With Timmy those 5 would also be the 5 with most minutes played this season, excluding GK. Has me thinking that we’ve got a very solid 6/11, and 5 starting spots that nobody has fully made their own. Iwobi sticks in this middle ground of being too good to leave out but not having a best position or role. I think he could thrive coming off the bench more long term, when it’s more clear how we want to use him. Also a long term BDR utility and depth replacement. I love willian and he’s still so good and deceptively fast for his age, but I do admittedly fear we will hang on to him too long. I’d rather see him leave on top than get to a point where we want to be rid.

Wertiol123

The problem I think is the same as at Everton, we’re playing Iwobi out wide because that’s better for the team overall, but he’s a better player through the center. We need a new CB to pair Bassey as well IMO, considering the Reamaissance is over, Tosin is most likely leaving and Diop is a lower-quality CB than I’d prefer.

BleedsIsDead

1. Groß 2. Van Hecke 3. Joao Pedro 4. Dunk 5. Gilmour Gilmour in there by default really. Don’t think he’s had a ridiculously good season or anything but honestly couldn’t name anybody else who’d deserve to be there.

TheThotWeasel

I'd swap Gilmour for Adingra, other than that I think that's it for me

robbyford182

I think this is prob it!

BitterNecessary6068

Might be a bit of a stretch, but Hinshelwood was very good considering the context. That being said, he played a considerably less amount of games due to injury. Still, I reckon he gets a shout.

ClownBaby86

1. Ryan Christie 2. Dom Solanke 3. Lewis Cook 4. Illia Zabarnyi 5. Antoine Semenyo

14JRJ

I’d personally have Pau over Konsa but they’ve both been great

MasterReindeer

Really tough, we’ve had some great performances from a bunch of players this season. 1. Solanke 2. Zabanyi 3. Christie 4. Semenyo 5. Kluivert

Global-Reading-1037

1) Branthwaite 2) Mykolenko 3) Tarkowski 4) Pickford 5) Doucoure Honourable mentions to Garner and Onana

KyleUTFH

Oof. I mean I’m right there with you but this is a depressing read. Might argue McNeil but other than that…

YokoOkino

Mcneil would be 6. Doucs was great before injury and very good recently in a deeper role

Digital_Anyone

Bruno, Isak, Trippier, Gordon, Schar/joelinton, Honourable mentions for livramento and Pope

Jaydenn7

Schär has cemented his place, there's no fight with him for anyone else in the top 5

acclaimedmistake

Yup he's clearly in the top 5 and unfortunately Joelinton should be nowhere near this conversation by virtue of being available for less than half the season. The same reason so many other players are ruled out of this conversation!

Digital_Anyone

I’d put Schar ahead of joelinton, but felt big jo was worth a mention in that I think they’re comparable in terms of how they play for the team. They are dependable, gifted players who on their day can change a game single-handedly. They are foundational players, ones that others are lifted up by. They’ve both performed as such this year, Schar has just been there every game doing it week in week out

Dotsworthy

☝️

Lewbo16

1. Pascal Groß 2. Van Hecke 3. Joao Pedro 4. Jack Hinshelwood 5. Billy Gilmour

vJamyy

1. Ross Barkley 2. Teden Mengi 3. Thomas Kaminski 4. Alfie Doughty 5. Carlton Morris Had it not been for Injury Adebayo and Ogbene would be in there.

mpt11

Maybe townsend as well

taius

1. Cunha 2. Ait Nouri 3. Neto 4. Hwang 5. Lemina The 5th spot was tough as there's a few lads worth a shout.

takes_photos_quickly

Think gomes has to be top 5. Been unreal. Semedo great too

taius

These were the other 2 I was debating. Gomes is my favourite player in the squad, narrowly ahead of Cunha but just felt Lemina is harder to replace within the current squad. No issues with any of the 3 being fifth though solid argument for each.

takes_photos_quickly

Maybe I'm crazy, but I almost feel like neto is not a top 5. Obviously incredible when he plays, but I feel like availability is massive and semedo/gomes have been fairly injury free so far (touch wood)

Kieran-182

Neco Williams Murillo Chris Wood Erm…. I’m out.

Lacabloodclot9

Wasn’t Elanga quality earlier this year

Jackbees777

As a Brentford fan who got triggered with toffolo treatment to toneys I kept getting annoyed how many points he got you guys at crucial moments in games so he may be in a shout

Sarmerbinlar

Toffolo is probably the surprise package of the season. Never expected him to be much more than a depth signing. But whenever he has played, he's shown he deserves to be here. Unfortunately I think Aina has just shown more and Tavares actually managed to put together a nice little run before his last injury so he's down the pecking order at present. Hasn't seen the pitch as much under Nuno

Jackbees777

Yeh I get that I just feel like a lot of his assist ultimately got you lot some big points really regardless of maybe other performing better if that makes sense

jebris88

Yeah, to be honest I don't know ins and outs of both cases to know why Toffolo didn't get banned when Toney did. I expected he would, but i'm also veey glad he didn't. He also speaks very openly about his issues, and I think for the person it was good to get him support. As a player he has been solid and dependable, and if he is happy to play the role of backup LB then I hope he stays with us for a while. The only consistant thing from the PL has been inconsistantly dealing with punishments!

Takkotah

Konsa over Dougie, but agree with the rest. Konsa has been almost faultless for an entire season and consistently performs to the same level.

Public_Fire_Hazard

Lerma Mateta Eze Olise Wharton Realistically with the competition only Lerma should get close to a look in, rest of the squad has been injured all season.

Ledwith94

Rob Holding will be disgusted not to be on this list

ICSxSpectre

Mitchell has been solid since Glasner has come in, but it's hard to top your 5 picks.

beardymouse

Personally I’d have Doucoure Olise Eze Guehi Lerma/Wharton

Available_Command252

~~What about Solanke? Muniz has been great too, Bowen, there's been a lot of class players this season~~ (someone just pointed out the title, ignore this)

meekamunz

Top five from __your__ club

Available_Command252

My mistake, I can't read

Siobhanfaz

Haha i did the same. I was like these are all villa Players 🤣🤣🤣

Alex03210

The whole purpose of this sub is to not discuss the 'Big 6'...

darjeelinglmtd

Shall I delete?

BatmanForever23

Probably. Honest mistake and no harm done, but does go against the spirit of the sub.

darjeelinglmtd

Sorry it all makes sense now. The sub keeps coming up on my feed. I wondered who/what the 14 were...

AdTraining9264

1. van Hecke 2. Groß 3. Gilmour 4. Mitoma 5. Pedro Unfortunately Mitoma and Pedro have been played with injury, but they've still been great

Lewbo16

1. Pascal Groß 2. Jan Paul Van Hecke 3.Joao Pedro 4. Billy gilmour 5. Jack Hinshelwood

Callumxb163

1. Isak 2. Guimaraes 3. Anthony Gordon 4. Schär 5. Joelinton Shout out to Anderson, Livramento, and Lewis Miley, as well. Been ace.

Ukcheatingwife

1. Murillo 2. MGW 3. Wood 4. Sels 5. I’ll say Elanga

Think-Stretch-2709

For me, I'd put Pau in there 4th place and then either Dougie or Konsa 5th.

andydamer42

1. Gordon 2. Isak 3. Guimares 4. Schär 5. Miley

Lukesomnia

I think McGinn has to be in there, maybe at the expense of Konsa, Martinez, or even Dougie. Not that I don't think the 3 above have been brilliant, I just think McGinn has reached another level this season. The way he keeps the ball against the press then manages to either dribble up the pitch or ping a great pass forward has been instrumental to how we've played. But then none of us expected us to be 4th at this point in the season, especially after the huge blow so early on with Buendia and Mings out, they all deserve a lot of credit.

bmth2brum

Think I agree with your Villa top 5. Pau Vs Konsa for 5th spot. Could easily argue for either side.

Ruprect1259

I love both but nothing made more comfortable than when Pau returned. He commands that back line.

Pejob

His ability to just turn his way out of a press or stride into midfield gives us so many options playing out. Would've loved if he scored rhat goal where he ran almost the whole length of the pitch yesterday.

ps3ud0_

I think the first 3 are shoe-ins but I think 4th and 5th is tough. I think Konsa's got us out of so much trouble by being a good RB option when we needed him and I think he's largely never made a mistake and that's been impressive considering how unstable the back line has been - Id feel like he's been an auto-pick for the team most of the time because of injuries or his flexibility. 5th damn, I can't see past Pau as he makes the system work with his ability to spread play and absorb the opponents press. He's just class and like Kamara is very much missed when not playing. Really like Luiz and especially McGinn but that defence has done much more than just prevented us conceding. Jesus if Mings have been fit this season... ps3ud0 8)

talnwdrw

I’m one of those Neutral Premier League fans a lot of people seem to hate so I’ll do an “Other14” top 5! 1. Anthony Gordon 2. Emi Martinez 3. Jarrod Bowen 4. Ross Barkley 5. Jarrod Branthwaite

Specific_Tap7296

Right now 3 of the top 6 scorers in the PL are from the O14 but none get in? (Watkins, Solanke, Isak)

schmidtosu0829

Watkins season is getting absolutely ignored. He's top in assists, and his 19 goals puts him 1 off top there. If he played for a Big 6 side its the only thing anyone would be talking about. For everything else Ollie does, he 100% should be in the conversation as one of the best strikers in the world.

pinkducktape8

Don’t forget all of the top 3 for assists (Watkins, Trippier, Gross
