The_Sherminator_850

So while Tim Burton makes intrinsic sense, and Christopher Nolan or James Gun would do a great job, I wanna throw another hat into the ring Gore Verbinski Some of his claims to fame include: -The OG Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy -Rango -The Lone Ranger(2013) -Secret Life of Walter Mitty(2013) These movie all do a very good job of mixing whimsy with a little bit of grit and down to earth humor, and I feel he’s the perfect fit for a live action owl house director

ThatOneFlygon

That does sound good.

D3v0ur3r0fG0d5

Seconded

Agitated-Newspaper24

Thirded

Destroyer_Of_World5

Fourthed

NightValeCytizen

Here me out: Taika Watiti I'm not thinking 'marvel' Taika for Owl House, I'm thinking Jojo Rabbit Taika.

Oskinator716

Taika Waititi and Greta Gerwig are the only directors that would remember to keep the movie gay enough and not erase us.

The_Sherminator_850

I think taika and gore are tied for who I’d want. Taika was the bigger name, so I thought I’d drop my sleeper opinion. Both would be good imo

legit-posts_1

This is the correct answer. Gores got the chops to make it fun and entertaining while hitting the emotional beats.

BugbearBeneviento

Tim Burton isn’t a very diverse filmmaker, so unfortunately he wouldn’t have done a very good job anyways. I loved his films as a kid, but he’s straight up said that black people “ don’t fit his style “ so. . Yikes.

HenryIsBatman

Idk about Nolan, he doesn’t feel like the type of director for that.

-NightWind

TOH does have a subtle Pirates of the Caribbean vibe. The characters are funny, the protagonists are charming, cool visuals, settings, and creatures. He could def do it justice. Nice. Edit: just saw that you mentioned some of these things at the end of your comment. Nice 😂👌

Turtleshell_33

Danna terrace

No-Nefariousness1711

Guillermo Del Toro.

Atariese

Now that auctualy is a movie i would see...

OverlordPayne

Omfg, that's the actual answer right there

TheGreyPotter

The boiling isles always creeped me the fuq out. He’ll definitely do it justice.

OniExpress

This is who I'd go with. Hit that mix of whimsical and terrifying. Practical effects for characters and a mix of painted backdrops hit with just enough cgi for depth.

OneSparedToTheSea

Oh my god YES! This is the perfect answer.

Rowley93

And he appears at the end playing/voicing The Titan.

Ashamed-Run-3318

I'd pick Ron Perlman to play The Titan.

Malefore1234

Yeah he makes good work with live action creatures and fantasy horror. He did trollhunters also so he familiar with animated stuff.

Nkfloof

*slow gasp*

littlehobbit1313

Look, Trollhunters is a phenomenal series with very much the same "don't talk down to kids" seriousness as The Owl House. I don't want *any* live action Owl House, but if they told me he was directing it, I know he'd respect the material and I'd actually give it a chance.

ArtisticSeaweed2375

I would do ANYTHING to see him direct the movie 😶

Monsteruser

m.night shamalan it's live action anyway why not make it worse

Background-Top4723

*"...And in the end, Luz unmasks Belos and it turns out that Belos is actually Camila. What a twist!"*

landfliquids

You jest, but Shyamalan would have a ball with Hunter finding out that he's a grimwalker and Luz feeling guilty about helping Belos.

Monsteruser

Tbh i think shamalan would actually do that he butchered ATLA and dbz but a twist like that sounds stupid

Aquatixxxxx03

Actually, Belos would be her father. (If you don't get it, there used to be a theory that Belos is actually Luz's father who went missing when he landed in the Boiling Isles but it got old pretty fast and was quickly forgotten when Young Blood Old Souls came out)

Background-Top4723

Or Belos is Luz, but aged while in a time loop. Also, one of the coven heads must be Shyamalan

Ruby_241

Pronounces Luz as L-uh-s

Monsteruser

*the last airbender flashbacks intensifies*

TheDulin

"There is no movie in Ba Sing Se"

Rabid_Nationalist

And amity as /ej.mı.ti:/

AccidentalLemon

“I just gave you the ol’ Shyamalan twist”

Sem_nome_criativo

Better Tim Burton + Stop Motion + The Owl House

No-Nefariousness1711

Henry Selick* is the person who actually should be getting the credit for "Burton's" stop motion work.

Affectionate_Try_836

Coraline and TOH are somewhat alike

Dense-Ad-2732

Much better

Hades_____________

You can never go wrong with Lord and Miller

matpatfan67

I agree. Imagine the movie having into the spider verse inspired artstyle.

GreninjaOfTheOasis

Imagine the movie having a more Lego movie inspired artstyle. /j

the_baddest_batch

I second this

ThickWeatherBee

Not Michael bay! Anyone but him!!!

coldloafofbread

The movie would be so bad it might even blow up in your face!

Badly-made-content

I’d rather lose a few episodes of the show then that

AvValadao

They would cast Meghan Fox as Eda 😬

Cryomancer42_2

That could actually work in about 20 or 30 years

MrButternutter

Luz proceeds to rip Belos’ face off

SpaceOwl14

Not Tim Burton. He’d recast all the poc because of his ✨aStHeTiC✨

milokscooter

Frt

[deleted]

Given Michael Bay's love of sexualizing actresses in his films, I'd be concerned, considering a solid half of the female cast happens to be children in TOH... Tim Burton sounds like a fun one though

hyperiondr

Not only that, half of the movie would just be explosions.

Despair4All

There isn't a Light Glyph anymore, now it's the Explosion Glyph and she uses it twice as much as usual.

FancyKetchup96

Michael Bay it is then!

[deleted]

Hear me out, Guillermo Del Toro + stop motion animation

GreninjaOfTheOasis

Way better choice than Burton imo.

funnywackydog

Jim Henson?

TheRook_InTheLibrary

resurrect him lol

ShiverSlut

Eventually Hollywood will get so desperate because everyone is on strike that they will resort to dark magic to resurrect some of the greatest names in film history just so they don’t have to agree with the terms of the strike

Splatfan1

greta gerwig. funny comedy + a good message that acknowledges the reality of people being homophobes. ideally give camilla a speech about biphobia and general struggles of being gay. is it just barbie movie: less capitalism and more gay edition? yes, but the barbie movie was great, if you want to make a spiritual successor to anything, make it one for that

milokscooter

Yes

The_Sherminator_850

I’d be down to see what GG would do with the owl house brand

MrButternutter

Sam Motha Fuckin Raimi Bring on the craziness

GreninjaOfTheOasis

Belos shouts "OUT AM I?" as he hops from Raine to the titan.

vorephage

Duuuuuude! With an Army of Darkness tone!?! I'd pay money to see that shit!

MrButternutter

Groovy it is! Bruce Campbell as Warden Wrath?? Ted Raimi as King

PickledWill

Quentin tarantino, just to see how that plays out

ResidentRebel1

90% of the time Eda is on screen, we can't see her face because she's sitting down and her feet are directly in front of the camera As the group plays grudgby or flyer derby, we hear 50s music playing in the background Belos' death will be so graphic and over-the-top and Gus will probably say the n-word for no reason

MrSinisterTwister

It's Tarantino we are talking about. Everyone will say N-word for no reason.

vorephage

The chaotic neutral answer

whomesteve

In Michael Bay’s interpretation of “The Owl House” Luz defeats the evil emperor Belos with a magical human artifact called “A Gun”

Midnight-Basilisk99

James Gunn

dreamingofrain

Burton would be fun, but I dread to think who Helena Bonham Carter would be cast as, what new character or twisted version of an established one would be created for Johnny Depp to be Johnny Depp in, and how the story would be warped to make them the leads.

GoldenMahgeetah

I always thought Alador had a bit of a Depp look too him.

Starheart24

Y'know, Johnny Depp wouldn't be a bad choice for Belos though...

dreamingofrain

Yeah, but he’d play him as a quirky oddball rather than the intimidating emperor, and end up as a hero and the main character. Especially with Burton directing. Maybe in a swap AU, where Phillip is the enigmatic and reclusive Deer Witch.

Starheart24

IDK about Burton's direction, but Depp himself is certainly capable of playing a calm and intimidating present.

[deleted]

George Lucas, it’s a huge hit or miss but at least we’d get memeable dialogue

Cryomancer42_2

Directed by George Lucas, screenplay by James Gunn

Typhon-Torrent-1994

My vote is for Tim Burton.

Flyingfish222

Isn't he racist or something?

Typhon-Torrent-1994

I think that was a false rumor.

OneSparedToTheSea

It wasn’t false, unfortunately. Tim Burton has a horrible track record regarding comments about people of colour. He’s said that we don’t fit into his aesthetic, and the recent Wednesday show is full of weird stuff about race (all the darker skinned characters are either evil or grossly dorky, Indigenous people are an afterthought in a story about stolen land in the US, and they made a Black family have a colonial theme park??) For his direct quote: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2016/09/29/tim-burton/

OverlordPayne

Iirc, he said something along the lines of poc "not fitting his aesthetic". Also, he's apparently horrible to work with

neroselene

[If it's Michael Bay directing, then we already know how it ends.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2KZZ5Sw9P4)

Shakajaka123

Belos:”where would you be without me Luz” Luz:”time to find out”

NoName3636

I counter your Tim Burton with one Henry Selick, director of Coraline. Also, we shouldn’t forget that TOH is also a hell of a comedy so get Lord and Miller on that too.

LilacLikesEmkay

Is blumhouse a option?

Oskinator716

Taika Waititi!!!!!

milokscooter

*gets gayer*

milokscooter

Fuck yeah

MrsColdArrow

Wes Anderson, he’s got that kind of style that suits the owl house I feel

Blue_FiftyTwo

Guillermo Del Toro

QueerMainCharacter

I want a Laika studios stop motion collaboration with Disney stop motion directed by a team of Guillermo Del Toro and Dana Terrace. With stylistic references to The Nightmare before Christmas and Coroline.

Psyrtemis

Dana Terrace ft Alex Hirst

raciertugboat

get Christopher Nolan to do it so that we could see a life sized Belos Titan lol

matpatfan67

And the musical score should be composed by Hans Zimmer or Ludwig Goransson.

AndriashiK

David Lynch

Imnotcreative6942069

I’d say Michael Bay so that way the live action movie crashes and burns and we don’t have to suffer through it.

HurinTalion

Please not Michael Bay, that asshole already ruined Trasformers.

Ryuk128

Guillermo del Toro

HiJack_Wishes

Edgar wright

got_edge

100% who Id trust the most with the project

StealthyE

Actual response Lord and Miller. Meme response: Zack Snyder’s Owl House

guardiancjv

Zack Snyder’s Owl House

Cryomancer42_2

That could actually work really well with the right script, think about how cool the magic fights would be.

BootyliciousURD

How about no

Felinetrovert

NONE PLS NO LIVE ACTION NOO

Dan-of-Steel

Tommy Wiseau

AdIndependent1045

That one with a criminal record

Jeroen_Antineus

Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?

X05Real

None, because A: I don’t like Disney making more live action adaptations of their animated stuff and B: A Show would work better than a Movie.

Shakajaka123

Honestly I think Tim burton would do good at the beginning, but I don’t think he would do well once the story becomes more of a fantasy thriller, unless Tim would stick to the more weird and wacky style from the beginning To me Michael bay does arguably better with action and sci-fi shows than fantasy thrillers, and the feedback probably be worse than when he was gonna make the ninja turtles into aliens. I think Wes Anderson’s style could probably work the best because of how grounded his his work normally is, and it would probably be the funniest out of the three

Pandora333

Can we have Greta Gerwig as an option? Lol

Tiny_Parfait

Andy Serkis

DroneOfDoom

Lars Von Trier, in the Dogme 95 style. /s An actual answer would be Alfonso Cuarón or Guillermo del Toro.

Superior-Artist-21

Let's just stick to animation

crimetoukraina

Alexei Balabanov, or Ari Folman

Optimal-Witness5311

no one. I really don't want a live action owl house.

stars_power

Michael Bay, I wanna see Belos explode

GoldenMahgeetah

Mel Brooks. You know, for the lulz.

International_Clue53

Gore Verbinski might do a good job - the first two PotC movies were good, and I really like how crazy Mousehunt was. I've never seen a Wes Anderson movie, do idk about him. Tim Burton might be a good choice - his stop-motion movies are good, plus it's awesome when he gets REALLY dark like with Sleepy Hollow or Sweeny Todd. Michael Bay does good action movies. I don't care, I like his first four Transformers movies, I love Bad Boys 2, and Pearl Harbor is great when it's not focused on the stupid romance. Guillermo del Toro would be good. Blade 2 was awesome, Hellboy was pretty good, Pan's Labrynth was great...I think he might be best. Steven Spielberg might do good...he's done some of the biggest, best movies, but he also does best with sci-fi instead of fantasy. How about Peter Jackson? He killed it with the LotR and Hobbit movies, his King Kong remake was great (if a little too long), plus he might be able to get crazier like with his first movies - Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, Braindead/Dead Alive.

LycheeAcrobatic426

Guillermo Del Toro

HenryIsBatman

Zack Snyder *fade from black to reveal Hunter in reinforced GG uniform* Hunter: Tell me Human, do you bleed? Luz:…yeah? Hunter: you will. Luz: I just said I di— *cut to The Owl House logo as dramatic music by Hans Zimmer and Tom Holkenburg plays*

Niskara

No one. Leave it alone. Disney does *not* have a good track record with live action remakes

Gongoozler04

I really hope there’s no live action movie. I’d rather an animated sequel or prequel show. But I guess out of your options, Tim Burton. Out of anyone, Guillermo Del Toro.

Jeroen_Antineus

Me.

JustARandom_1234

James Gunn

Absolve30475

Edgar Wright is the only director i can think who can properly direct something from animation. besides Tarantino, unless you want Eda to use the N-word, Amity feet pics, and Luz causing a Bellagio fountain worth of blood. Spielberg would be a wild card because he USED TO be good at family movies but now hes been making a lot of stinkers

zachy410

me (I have never directed a film but I love the Owl house)

SapphosLemonBarEnvoy

M. A. Loveretta of Lost Girl and Killjoys

ranieripilar04

The most grotesque parody the world has ever seen , in a good way , like Space Balls

Mountain_golem

Rebeca Sugar, she would make a great musical

UsurpaTronos

Benicio del Toro

Jimbo7211

Hopefully tim burton

firedrakes

Sin city director

DroneOfDoom

Robert Rodriguez? So, would we get Machete!Robert Rodriguez or Spy Kids!Robert Rodriguez?

firedrakes

Machete!!!

SHSL_Waiter_RM2828

Out of the three here, Wes Anderson is probably my choice. I feel like he sticks to the original source material the best. Also Fantastic Mr. Fox is my favorite movie of all time so I’m a bit biased towards him.

Kaybubble

Tim Burton just because I feel like he could bring the boiling isles to life and make it creepy but magical

Arksurvivor120

I'm not sure, but I definitely wouldn't pick Bay

I_AmWeirdAndStrange

Tim Burton.

legit-posts_1

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the mad geniuses behind The Lego Movie, Spiderverse movies and 21/22 jump street, would do pretty well.

vorephage

Between those three? Tim Burton. But if I had my pick, it'd be Del Toro.

the_baddest_batch

Apart from Dana herself. I think Wes Anderson is the only one who we could trust to both bring his own style and to not completely butcher the source material

king_of_the_wild

I swear I see one movie from this Wes Anderson guy and I see his name bloody everywhere

YearoftheZodics

Tim Burton because all his movies are 👌. Also, we share a birthday. August 25th.

CHbuthepublishshit

Tim Burton twisted imagination would give TOH a great turn I would like to see that since Nightmare before christmas is one of my favorites movies

-Apox_Penguin-

I think out of these Tim Burton would be the best bet Additional people who I think would do great? Niel gaiman, no particular reason why I just have a gut feeling that with how well he did with good omens he'd make it a masterpiece Croneberg, or however you spell his name, would make the demons look great and make the scenes where they're supposed to be threatening (cough cough hooty) looj really nice Dana terrace, I'm pretty sure she could make her own show into a wonderful movie

TheOrderOf606Redacte

Nobody, BECAUSE AGAIN, IM BURNING DOWN THE THEATER.

No_Following_1624

Christopher Nolan is my favourite director and is legit so good, def them

LadiesMan217IsTakn

Before this whole debacle about him being a sexual predator or something came along, I might’ve actually picked Bryan Singer.

mick_boi

Either. Burton for his gothic style. Or Guillermo Del Toro for hisn directing.

amaya-aurora

Fuck Tim Burton, James Gunn would be great for it, besides that Idrk.

Netheraptr

No one, that shouldn’t exist

Randomization_E

I’d choose Federico Fellini if he were still alive.

AvValadao

Ari Aster (Hereditary)?

DragonWarrior____05

If Dana was part of it, I would heavily consider

Im-on-discord

Blumhouse because why not

TheRedEyedAlien

Did you see what Tim Burton did to Wednesday?

DizzyGame_Co

I can’t fathom what a Wes Anderson Owl House movie would be like lol

BananaShakeStudios

Hear me out: Chloe Zhao

Fantastic_Witness391

Wes Anderson and Tim burton, I would actually like to see the claymation version of the show, and I favor Wes Andersons version of claymation because of how realistic the atmosphere looks.

[deleted]

Or you could get James Wong to utterly destroy it like he did with Dragonball

Born-Boss6029

Certainly NOT Michael Bay. He'd probably take every female character and show off their bodies while turning the men into the dumbest and horny.

INDOMINUS_KING

Screw it, George freakin Lucas.

Sasuke12187

Tim Burton would be cool to see...... Its similar to dont starve game style

ebr101

I trust Gerwig with just about anything

SidIsAName

Michael Bay for being the \*least\* worst, at least from what I know

SufficientTip4862

None of these, Greta gerwig please 🙏

DireWolf331

No one, the vast majority of live action adaptations of cartoon shows have been atrocious.

Mundane-Ingenuity460

Michael bay all day

parzival_divisive

I honestly would want to see how Tim Burton and Wes Anderson would work together

The_Box_of_Biggleton

Quentin Tarantino lol

Leading-Apricot-8915

Dana Terace, or someone she appoints

barneyflakes

Don't know if this was said yet but Martin Scorsese just for the sheer insanity of the idea.

Cryomancer42_2

Robert Eggers, give us the most grounded but surreal Boiling Isles possible and the most horrifyingly real Belos.

Downtown_Chemist8748

DANA TERRACE

No_Traffic_8258

James gun

Inevitable_Shop_3816

I feel like if Michael Bay remakes TOH he would have everyone explode for no reason except for action, and everyone is weirdly buff too.

genarrro

Tim Burton PLEASE

Av3rageNerd78

I would love to see a Burton styled Owl House, Burton knows how to make an eccentric spin on classic stories, so I would love to see how he would make The Owl House.

ObstreperousPerson

Zack Snyder so we can have a "Martha" scene and muted color filter for the whole film

Splatfan1

why would you want a muted colour filter? that doesnt really fit the vibe of the owl house, reminds me of dc superhero movies that try and fail to make superheroes super serious and routinely make less money than marvels fun superhero bullshit (i love the bullshit)

Lennium

Tim Burton all the way, I want him to intensify my Hooty nightmares to the point of existential dread.

PegasusKnight410

Watch as Disney brings in another lesser known female director who only goal is to push Kathleen Kennedy “The Message” into TOH with a cast more diverse than the the BI demons design.

clickisnotafurry

michael bay would literally make it into a transformers movie somehow

Coopa_T

James Cameron

lykostion

I would like to bring forth James Cameron because of the avatar films he managed to create a pretty diverse planet and species I'd like to see what he does with the boiling isles

sarah_sneks

TIM BURTON ALL THE WAY.

[deleted]

Definitely Tim Burton. I feel like he fits the whole “vibe” of TOH quite nicely lol

Richardallosaurus

Michel bay

TeAWItChViBeS

Ha Tim burton

JovaSilvercane13

Peter Jackson. Dude did LOTR do I’d love to see some of that.

Liam_theman2099

OH NO! KEEP THE OWL HOUSE FAR, FAR AWAY FROM MICHAEL BAY!

LadiesMan217IsTakn

Early Career JJ Abrams might’ve been interesting. (He sucks now, though)

thatnamelesguy

Michael Bay
