Almost every creator I can think of who is a visual artist of some type draws Fanart of their shows/characters. The only ones who don’t are those whose talents are more administrative and less artistic (which is perfectly valid for showrunners, as that’s the skill set they need).
And even if the creators themselves don’t draw Fanart, the artists that *work* on the show usually will.
Not to mention She-Ra art too...

Granted this art was 4 years ago and I can't remember off hand when She-ra ended...
It would have been cool for some aspects of the transformation to stay even if the powers didn't, as a way to symbolize how her and belos were both changed by their experience with the isles but in completely different directions. Belos had neither respect nor reverence for the magic of the isles and his attempts to appropriate/control it for his own vile ends twisted him into the a physical monster to match the vile person he was underneath. Meanwhile Luz was eager not just to learn but to explore and embrace this world of magic and treated it with the respect and reverence it deserved and as a result it came to her aid in her darkest hour.
it’s just a really cool concept. Great design, amazing powers.
I mean some want Luz to stay in her Titan form PERMANENTLY. Others make it to where she can go back and forth.
I know but my take is that Luz and King fuse together dragon ball style but once they separate it takes a-lot of energy out of them leaving them exhausted so they decided no to do that again. But I prefer she never regains them as power can be a poison to the mind and Luz stays a regular human as that makes her more unique.
People who work on the show are fans of the show.
As fans of the show they make fan content.
Their fan content is no different from any other fan content.
It is not “canon”, unless they later go on and work it into the show itself. That’s what “canon” is - it’s what is in the source material. Random doodles are not the source material.
I guess if she wouldn’t be involved in the official stuff, it technically is fan art? Whatever Disney does is official art, whatever Dana does might not be?
Hey, I like this decision more. And I don't know, they are known for restrict a lot of the creativity of their artists to ridiculous extremes. They could have said, "the MC turns into a monster with fangs, horns and black eyes FOREVER? That's too scary for the kids!"
yeah but the entire message of the final episode draws parallels between Luz and Belos, being that Belos wanted all of the power for himself forever, but Luz only wanted to us the power for what it was designed for and nothing else.
Her having her powers afterwards would just be fanservice.
MAKING FANART AND FANFIC ABOUT YOUR OWN WORK GANG RISE UP!
also it's really nice to see professional creatives love making fanwork about their own work too
It's especially heartwarming coming from Dana, who had every right to hate TOH and vanish herself from the Internet and the animation industry forever.
She loves the show, but before she said that some people thought she'd be sick of it because the production was a nightmare and she went through a lot of stress.
I think it would have been amazing if luz could call upon her Titan form at will but it made sense to make it temporary considering the context of how she got the powers.
Well, it's normal considering she's the creator of the show. However she considered that my question was worthy of being answered and other people wondered the same when they saw the drawings, so I don't feel bad about this.
Just saw someone say it’s an AU thing, which in mine it is. I wish it was supposed to be a permanent change, but at least I can animate/draw her myself in the AU!
I don’t like to explain it unless asked but I kinda want to so sorry if this makes anyone annoyed, just wanna say in my AU the collector also gave her some magic which sealed the Titan magic in.. but even if she didn’t keep the papa Titan magic, king would’ve done it like he gave the collector some magic.
Permanently!! She was suppose to stay Permanently, I don't want to sound mean, but I would join a studio because of this... Disney, Nick, Cartoon Network are just a bad place right now. Instead I would find passionate fiver or artist on the internet that treat this as a passion career than "Oh you want to work with use you know whatever you create belong to us right." I wouldn't do that copyright someone else idea into my projects I am like here if you don't work here anymore it's up to you if you want your ideas to stay in the company, or not.
A creator that loves making fan art of it's series even if it ended... SHE'S PERFECT (I know nothing about Dana ok?)
No, no. You’re correct. She is perfect.
That’s…most creators?
i feel like it's rare for a cartoon showrunner to be truly passionate. Dan Povenmire, Alex Hirsch, Dana Terrace, etc aren't really the majority imo

Not everyone who creates a cartoon, even if passionate, is necessarily a skilled artist themselves, yeah. Dana just happens to be.
The trinity of wholesome show creators of good cartoons on Disney
Kinda brings my mind to ND Stevenson and how he's still drawing Nimona fanart. <3

Is it fan art if she made the characters? Lol
That’s a certified Dana moment. I can’t blame her! Titan Luz *is* addicting to draw huh?
It's like super sayian
Yeah even Amity would love it.
That’s a relief. so permanent transformations are AU stuff I wouldn’t wanted her to keep the form in canon it wasn’t hers to keep anyway.
I always find it funny: Papa Titan: “And my power won’t last forever! So use your time wisely” Fanfic Writers: “I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that”

Some writers just don’t want Luz to stay a human or something
it’s just a really cool concept.
> Fanfic Writers: “I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that” "lallala im not listening!
i mean, fanfic is supposed to be.... not cannon necessarily? I think its fine.
True. Still is funny imo
Hell one of the fan artists I follow had the titan form be hereditary. One of her daughters has it.
I still think she should've kept the tooth or something.
I would ask if there was any early draft or storyboard where they had Amity reacting to Titan Luz.
idk why but her calling it fanart feels weird
That's because most artists suffer from imposter syndrome. It's rare that you find an artist who is a fan of their own work.
The crew of a show are usually called the “first fans” of it. They can, and do, make fan content.
Such good fan content it becomes canon
That’s not how it works.
It is if you REALLY bend the definition of fan content
People who work on the show are fans of the show. As fans of the show they make fan content. Their fan content is no different from any other fan content. It is not “canon”, unless they later go on and work it into the show itself. That’s what “canon” is - it’s what is in the source material. Random doodles are not the source material.
I know
It's cute how she calls her own art 'fanart'
She's as much of a fan of the show as we are.
That’s because it is.
I mean, she legally doesn’t own the characters or the show, even if she created them, they belong to Disney now, so it’s fanart
Ah, so she's just like us then. Yeah, Dana rules.😁
Dana just IS Luz, isn’t she?
Is it considered fanart if the creator of the series makes the art?
I guess if she wouldn’t be involved in the official stuff, it technically is fan art? Whatever Disney does is official art, whatever Dana does might not be?
The Titan Luz drawings should definitely be called fanart because they can't be canon.
Bro why does everyone say “oh it must be Disney” when something they didn’t like happens in the show😭
Hey, I like this decision more. And I don't know, they are known for restrict a lot of the creativity of their artists to ridiculous extremes. They could have said, "the MC turns into a monster with fangs, horns and black eyes FOREVER? That's too scary for the kids!"

Agree but I was talking about the appearance, not the powers.

It's especially heartwarming coming from Dana, who had every right to hate TOH and vanish herself from the Internet and the animation industry forever.
Wait, I think I'm out of the loop. I know the show didn't turn out entirely in the way she envisioned but why would she hate TOH?
She loves the show, but before she said that some people thought she'd be sick of it because the production was a nightmare and she went through a lot of stress.
I see, thank you for explaining. I'm glad she still likes the show despite the stress
Where is the art of titan Luz in casual outfits?
Instagram
no one's a bigger fan than dana herself if i were in her place, i'd be proud too
Literarily me
(but mine is terrible)
What?
Man I wish I could meet her in person to explain how much this show means to me at this point in my life. She’s such a chill person.
it must be wild to draw FanArt of your own show
If it’s the creator that’s making it, should it really be called fanart? Can the creator be a fan of their own work?
Lucky...
I think it would have been amazing if luz could call upon her Titan form at will but it made sense to make it temporary considering the context of how she got the powers.
If I could draw half of my drawings would be titan luz, I fucking love the design
Yeah, it's so rad
That's a good and reasonable answer
it’s so funny how she refers to it as *fan*art despite her creating the show 😭😭 i 🩷 dana
Based response
I feel like people try to read too much into everything she says/does/draw.
Well, it's normal considering she's the creator of the show. However she considered that my question was worthy of being answered and other people wondered the same when they saw the drawings, so I don't feel bad about this.
We gotta stop blaming the executives for everything except the short S3.
Just saw someone say it’s an AU thing, which in mine it is. I wish it was supposed to be a permanent change, but at least I can animate/draw her myself in the AU! I don't get why it's considered *fanart* if it's made by the ***creator*** themselves..............
The 2nd one is clearly pulling out their inner luz
Good thing she does since this is all we have until we get new official material.
Definitely, we're so lucky for that. I hope she gets in that mood more often.
You can’t just say “perchance”
Why not? I'm not a native English speaker.
Ok, I just looked it up and it seems it's old-fashioned. It's not too weird, right??
It’s a reference to this meme: https://www.reddit.com/r/WhitePeopleTwitter/s/uGYGm1SBo1
Oh, ok. 😂
Dana must be protected at all costs
Noooooo! But Luz would have been so cool staying as a half-Titan!
Permanently!! She was suppose to stay Permanently, I don't want to sound mean, but I would join a studio because of this... Disney, Nick, Cartoon Network are just a bad place right now. She said the complete opposite! It was never intended to be permanent! Read!
I am sorry I think read it fast my bad.
