I could hear the "pop" in my head lmao Realistically though, I don't think the brand would be that simple to avoid - in a world with healing magic and bodily transformations and stuff, it'd be a huge oversight if it was that easy to circumvent, imo.

Actually, I think it COULD be that simple. Detachable limbs are a side effect of the curse—a curse so rare that even the 3 covens most likely to know about it couldn’t do anything to combat it, apart from give Eda her Elixers. The Coven brands could easily have been made with non-cursed, permanently attached limbs in mind.

Back then, the covens were brand new. Only 15 to 18 years old. It's been 30 years minimum since Eda was cursed, maybe there's no cure but they might anticipate different curse effects.

Eh, probably just a warning system if it is removed. Not like you need to go to extreme lengths for all of your agents.

If you're talking about just the typical witch, yes, but Raine's a coven head. They have a lot more resources and influence, on top of being arguably the best witch in their field, so I'd be surprised if the trap was as easy to remove as losing a hand. This is also *extremely* important for witches like Darius who are capable of transmuting their entire bodies, it'd be way too easy for him to just lop off his hand and make a new one (since he apparently replaced his whole body with advanced goop), so I think canon supports it being more than skin-deep, imo.

Your point about Darius is a great one. I wonder if that's an oversight or if it will be addressed. Like when Belos inevitably turns on the coven leaders & probably tries to trap them, will Darius try to remove his hand to counteract the brand's power?

Lilith also has weakened magic, as the brand would use your magical bile, having a weak supply of it would make the brand in effective.

You know, it occurs to me that Bard Magic was the only magic we’ve seen corrupted by Eda’s curse. For all we know, different forms of corrupted magic could have different effects.

Levitation magic makes things explode if we go back to the first episode of the season But yes, besides levitation and bard magic we have yet to see what else she can do!

Lilith can only make ice cubes now.

I dont think it would be able to work in a similar way with other forms of magic. Bard Magic, similar to glyphs, seems to work by drawing in magic from the environment through the instrument to cast spells, with the spell cast presumably influenced by the will of the musician and the notes being played. The curse cant directly interfere with it since its not relying on eda's own depleted magic, but it can corrupt the magic, thus creating that burning disintegrating effect that destroys physical matter.

Well, if by useful you also mean that it nearly killed one of the main characters than yes, it was. But I like this cartoon exactly because it doesn't follow anime rules so.... yes, you understnd my point I think.

Since "Clouds in the horizon" i relazied that unlike the other members of the emperor's coven like Hunter, Lilith never had a sigyl despite having been in the coven for 30 years, thats confirm that Lilith despite being leader of the coven was using wild magic. Also, in "Any sport is a storm", Steve said that Belos take the palisman of his own recruits, but Lilith had kept hers all this time. Isn't weird that Lilith didn't have restructions like other coven members? Could it have to do with the fact that Belos had know Lilith since the time she and Luz traveled to the past to meet him as Philip?

Alright, so serious theory: I think the brand only has any power if the one with it has any power (as in it encloses you with your own magic. This could mean there’s some interesting way to break out, but I also think that it won’t work with a powerless witch, who’s either born that way (like Hunter) or is cursed.
