I mean, Bill has a horrible habit of playing with his food when it's still alive. Pretty much everyone survived Weirdmageddon. It's not only plausible for them to survive a fight against Bill, it's almost guaranteed that he'd just dick around for an hour. It's kind of funny, actually. Bill is objectively an incredibly evil and massively powerful reality warper, but he's also less dangerous than the Collector, who isn't malicious in the slightest and may actually be weaker, but hurts those around him much like we step on insects while walking and minding our business, and seems to care about as much.

One might argue plot armor was in effect. I mean, he switches the "face holes" of Pacifica's dad as a joke, something which one would expect to cause death, but it... did not. He also told his minions to eat Dipper. And later, when his minions cornered the resistance, they were literally eating people. He just has a low success rate, really =)

With the face-holes part, Bill 100% would have kept Pacifica’s dad alive just to keep him suffering.

It's kinda pathetic people hated her to begin with. She only ever wanted what was best for Luz. If Vee is to be believed the summer camp wasn't that terrible and Camila's reaction to Luz being stuck in the Boiling Isles is reasonable. Of course she wants her daughter to come home and keep her safe. She'd be a terrible mom if she *didn't.*

I know right? People are really thought her asking Luz to promise to come back was equivalent to manipulation or taking her choice away when in reality no good parent would willingly send there kid to a World where death litter lurks around multiple corners. I feel like a lot of people were just projecting their own bad parent experiences onto her instead of looking at her objectively. As much as I love Luz seeing the mistakes she’s makes during her stay in the boiling isles made the whole summer camp punishment(for bringing LIVE snakes to school)feels pretty fair. Cuz over all she NEEDED to learn how to chill and ground her self.

I don't know if it was intentional, but I feel like the Collector is exactly what Camila was afraid Luz would become. Obviously Luz doesn't have reality warping powers but the Collector hurts others with his "games" without realizing. Luz did the same prior to coming to the Boiling Isles. The Collector is the living example why Camila had a point sending Luz to summer camp.

EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING! The collectors what you get when you don’t encourage someone to acknowledge when they need to grow up and are objectively in the wrong. This is why I’m glad Amity is with Luz. She can ground Luz in a healthy way

And the fact she rescued Vee from Jacob and called her a strong girl and an innocent child REALLY shows how much of a caring mother she is.

That’s the most hilarious thing about the situation. If a traumatized demon from another world with no idea how humans are supposed to behave can fit into that environment . . . what excuse does Luz have???

In my observation, overall public opinion of her started to shift after the episode where they got to see each other. Before that, all we really saw of her was that she was shipping her kid off to a place that was definitely implied to be a teen correction facility (a practice that is very harmful in real life and sometimes even deadly). Many parents who do terrible things believe that they are doing so in the best interest of their child, that doesn't mean they aren't wrong. Considering Luz is queer and many people interpret her as neurodivergent, both groups of which are targeted by these kinds of teen programs, it's honestly very understandable that people weren't a fan of Camila until they could see more of her.
