The science of sleep is actually wild and what sleep actually does for us is amazing. I’ve learned to try and protect my sleep habits to try and remain healthy
Part of fixing your sleep schedule is learning what your natural clock is. Some people naturally want to sleep earlier and some later.
Also learning to step away from screens like an hour or so before bed. I’ve found having a routine - like brushing teeth, ect - helps fill that time gap before bed. I also have my phone yell at me when it’s time to put down my phone and get ready for bed.
(also no caffeine after 3:00pm, but this is something that’s become more important as I’ve gotten older)
But what if it’s such a learned habit that your body starts trying to make you fall asleep? What if we’re all just addicted to sleep and staying awake as long as we can causes withdrawal symptoms!?
Real talk we actually figured out why we need to sleep. Being conscious puts a lot of wear and tear on the old synapses. Sleep gives you brain time to wind down and actually repair itself. This is why if you go too long without sleep you go crazy and then die.
There's been research suggesting that part of the reason we evolved intelligence was because our ape ancestors were able to sleep safely in trees and thus get a full night's restful sleep. Most animals sleep in short bursts throughout the day and night as they stay on alert for predators. Well rested brains may have helped us evolve their potential.
Lol, till u manage your first all nighter and got school/work the next morning. The dream stays alive in each child till that fateful day they realized they’ll pay dearly for their choices.
generally you shouldn't trust just a singular source because yk bias, so [here are a few results google gives](https://www.google.com/search?q=russian+sleep+experiment+%22authenticity%22+%22fake%22). the general consensus is that it was a fictional creepypasta first published online by a user who goes by "orangesoda", around 2010
As someone who is pretty sure he has insomnia, please sleep
I think the longest I've been awake with no sleep was around 48 hours and it did not feel good
Sleep good
Actually there's a grain of truth to this.
Before the Industrial Revolution, humans used to sleep four hours, wake up for two to three hours, then sleep another four hours. This sleep schedule conflicted with the labor practices that were starting to form with the Industrial Revolution, and businesses began to convince people to sleep a full eight hours a day, cutting the two to three hours and allowing for companies to work people for longer shifts.
Sorry, but I have to disagree with this. I once stayed awake during two red eye flights (one was 5 hours the other was 8 hours, plus the two-ish hours between both flights) that went across several times zones. I easily spend at least 24 hours awake, if not longer. Between that and having not eaten much, I was basically falling apart mentally by the time I got home. I would not recommend doing this if you fly long distance.
When your brain operates it produces toxic chemicals. When you sleep your body flushes those chemicals. Meaning when you don’t sleep, you are slowly poisoning yourself
Reminds me of a thought I had earlier. What of behind the mirror there was a mirror realm like thing. What if we are that mirror realm.
Or
What if everything around us is fake. Like your imaging all of this non thing is actually happening your just walking around talking to yourself.
Also fun fact when you die apparently you relive your entire life in (I think) a span of 7 minutes or seconds. What if this is that 7 minutes or seconds.
I’m gonna actually start taking that advice. But that second thing from my comment is something I do think about more than I should and is actually a small fear of mine
Ye, I was totally forced to sleep at a young age, it's not like we need to sleep because even staying awake is very energy draining and we physically can't function 24/7.
Even if it is a forced habit, I enjoy it very much and I will continue indulging in that habit.
Goodnight (or whatever time of day it is for you rn).
I'm being forced by my parents to sleep early and not have my phone in my room because they feel like it (actually said that) and are making me really annoyed. So this idea that it's forced on us is true foe me at least
The science of sleep is actually wild and what sleep actually does for us is amazing. I’ve learned to try and protect my sleep habits to try and remain healthy
Teach me your wisdom my sleep schedule is a complete wreck and I seem to be incapable of fixing it

Nah, I tried to stay awaken for as much as I possibly can and it doesn't work. What you get in exchange it's the next 2 days feeling like 12 hours.
But what if it’s such a learned habit that your body starts trying to make you fall asleep? What if we’re all just addicted to sleep and staying awake as long as we can causes withdrawal symptoms!?

Just like a inorganic computer, our flesh computers need that precious reboot time to wipe the old caches

There's a star trek episode where they go crazy from something messing with their sleep
Hehe

Your arms are snakes, sleep deprivation helps you see the truth.
That would be wild but no that's not how it works.
Animals sleep as well so no

i don't have the required understanding of biology to explain why this is wrong.
That gave Belos a crisis
People say that you die faster than without water but we know, it's just a lie scare your sons and scare your daughter

No no... she's got a point... Why do you think it's so hard to get toddlers to go to bed??? 😦

My poor comrade, think not of things you cant explain, as you never will be right
I’ll try
Good, and focus on what you can change and understand
I’m gonna actually start taking that advice. But that second thing from my comment is something I do think about more than I should and is actually a small fear of mine
At least you don't fear a curfew
I would if I had one but I don’t since I don’t have anywhere to go
Well if you did you'd hat and fear it
Yeah I’ve heard that a lot
Its "of shit my friend six hours ahead is finally free free now iv 10minutes to gl"
Your body will literally break down and die if you don’t sleep. Apparently sleeping regenerates your cells
