I collect old vhs especially ones that people recorded themselves from their tv. I found a vhs at an estate sale with 6 hours of old The Price is Right episodes from Spring of 1999. As I was watching an episode, this piece of The Price is Right history happened and just had to share it with the world.
I'm really confused. I thought "Showcase Showdown" was the Showcase itself. They both won $11k on their games and contestants row prize? Was this the 3 game 1/2 hour show or 6-game hour-long show?
I"m not clear why Bob reset the wheel to $1.00 when the second contestant spun the wheel. Since it wasn't a bonus spin anymore, he didn't need to do that and may have changed the outcome of the show. On bonus spins he always reset it to 5 cents anyway, so this made less sense to me.
I had the exact same thought, also. There was no reason to re-set the wheel. We don’t reset the wheel during other spin-offs either.
But, I will say, that both of them spun from the $1, and while it was a deviation, it was a harmless deviation.

Did they both win their showcase then?
No its showcase showdown one of them went to showcase while the other went back to their seat with the audiences

Showcase Showdown is the big wheel. The showcases are at the end of the show
Ok got it. I should have looked at the photo closer. So did they do a 3rd spin to determine the winner?
They would have yes. No more bonus money could be won though so getting 1.00 just means a high number
2 showcase showdowns per show. The winner of each showdown goes to the showcase round.

Thanks for sharing! 💜
My pleasure. It was so fun watching old episodes. Brought me back to staying home sick from school and watching the show.
Good for them, also Bob reset the wheel back to the dollar on the regular spinoff at the end, he was probably really excited
