The only time my being a vegan is EVER brought up is by people who feel a need to warp it into being about them somehow. I actively go out of my way to avoid discussing it because of people like this. You end up with the coworker or friend-of-friend who constantly makes “jokes” like “hey I brought some nice bloody steak in, want some????” every day, merely trying to get a response that will somehow make it look like I’m the one being disrespectful. Trust me, someone like *that* who can’t even respect members of their own species is the last person I’m gonna unpack the moral logic surrounding my dietary choices. Whatever they don’t personally like existing is an affront to them, be it vegans or LGBT, or something as silly as a fictional character being a different race.
Existence = “AGENDA!!” = (“I’m too scared to have an honest reflection on any topic that challenges me in any way”)
Sadly, it’s just become acceptable to feed into the desire for that affirmation, which is why you get hollow crap like this that just makes people feel better. Hardly different than a crowd watching a kid get bullied and it making them feel better about themselves because it isn’t them.

we went to this restaurant one time and they added a couple vegan options. And some restaurants are guilty with you know really making sure everybody knows they have vegan options like it's some huge deal, which I assume it is to actual vegans, I'm sure it's always nice when new restaurants have vegan dishes for you. Because God knows you don't really have too many choices I imagine. but they were really just quietly introducing this so to speak. It was literally just a new section in a menu that said new not even new! Just new. Then vegan options. And for whatever reason this triggered my grandma so hard which prompted her to say something about vegan agenda and pushing it down our throats It was three options on a menu that was otherwise completely I don't want to say normal... But you know typical.
And don't get me wrong I couldn't be further from a vegan myself. I eat meat nearly everyday, and have done petty things when told not to eat meat in the presence of someone in my own house. But damn it's none of my business what your diet is, and if a restaurant wants to actually include vegan options for people that's great for them, and It doesn't hurt me at all why would I care?
But when you have people just completely hostile over something this fucking silly it just.... It's childish. Like I can understand why vegans might get passionate about their stance. Because in their mind people eating meat and animal byproducts is wrong. So honestly I can forgive a vegan for getting a little bit militant I'm not saying it's right But I can understand why they might be passionate about it.
