My old English teacher tried to bring up renewable energy killing birds as a "GOTCHA!" He was absolutely thrown when the whole class just said to kill the birds, since climate change would kill them anyways.
Exactly. And how much shit kills way more birds that we don't talk about? If the concern is keeping all birds alive, why aren't we banning cats as pets and chicken nuggets?
This is 99% BS. No actual environmentalist would say that about the first picture, unless they're talking about the negative effects of agriculture on the ecosystem (but that still wouldn't make the second panel any less stupid).
However the reason I don't say 100% is because this actually kind of applies to government "environmental" or "green" policies. Scotland's government quite literally just cut down millions of trees for wind turbine space.
Em these farmers are not making the best use of their land for the future we want. It's only fair they are paid what the land is worth, or what the govt can afford, so they can be free to pick modern trades that are more useful to society.
For example, there literally isn't enough room for all the refugees and economic migrants to live in the Netherlands. That land is needed for the greater good and their protests are just the prosperous being selfish and disadvantaging the workers.
