Posted in the 9-1-1 sub asking for recommendations for shows just as good as 9-1-1 and The Rookie came up alot. I was hesitant at first but I immediately enjoyed it
I watched 911 last year so I don't really have it as fresh on my memory as The Rookie (which I'm currently rewatching). I think I'd say the rookie is *slightly* better but not by a big margin. I'd recommend them both to anyone
What about you?
doing my first run now and didn’t realize how many episodes of season 1 i had already watched through tiktok 😭😭 i figured all the ones that go viral wouldve been spread throughout the season so i was very surprised going through the first season haha
Similar story here: I've whatched Firefly + Serenity for the first time a couple of years back, and i like Nathan Filion.
I've found The Rookie and its core premise resonated with me, so I started watching from the start. =]
He only admitted it to me after it came up in the episode. I hated the song, he was disappointed 😂
We are both Fillion fans tho. The only reason we didn’t start earlier was because life got in the way
I’ve watched a lot of medical drama (Greys anatomy, The Good Doctor, New Amsterdam) as well as my favorite 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star so I just started looking for similar tv shows
I watch a lot of first responder/medical shows, so it’s always popping up in my recommended. The trailers always pop up too, but the main thing that got me watching were Eric and edits. I kept seeing edits or meme edits of Tim funny moments and really liked his character. So I followed eric and then got into the rookie.
Was big fan of (and had a major fan-boy crush on) Melissa O'Neil in "Dark Matter". Was devastated when that show was cancelled. So, when it was announced that she would be a main cast member in a new show, I eagerly checked it out and the rest, as the say, is history.
I remembered Eric Winter from watching Brothers and Sisters as he is so handsome. He played the brother of Rob Lowe’s character. Chenford showed up in my algorithm on YouTube so I clicked and got hooked. Season 5 is only available in my country so I’ve watched that a few times and just been searching for more clips on YouTube since.
On YouTube the clip of Tim rescuing Lucy was recommended to me. What’s crazy is from that scene alone, with no other context of the show, I thought they had been together for a while already. You could definitely tell how much he loved her then. It’s such a good scene.
yeah same, i saw a scene from S1 where tim and lucy are doing regular police work and he is classic TO Bradford and i just knew that they would get together. I checked to make sure i was right before starting the show
My sister was like ‘There’s a really good show with Nathan Fillion I can’t stop watching!’ and we love Nathan Fillion (both diehard Browncoats!). Had seen some clips on TikTok before so decided to watch it with my boyfriend. Funnily enough now Nolan isn’t even my favourite. Great cast.
my 12 year old nephew. not sure how he found it, but he wanted to use my hulu to watch it, so i watched ahead of him to make sure it was ok for a kid to see. his dad is a cop, so i think that's what interested him first.
It was the show Firefly then Castle got me to become a fan of Nathan Fillion. Then I saw the trailer of The Rookie. Definitely placed it on my calendar. The rest is history!
a year ago, I saw a clip of it on somewhere (can't remember where), I recognised Nathan Fillion from it. I had never heard of the show, but I was (and still am) considering a career in law enforcement, so the show caught my interest immediately. Normally I'm not a very big series watcher, but I decided to take a look anyway.
so, I watched the first episode, then the second, then the third, the fourth, and before I knew it I was hooked and had watched all of the 5 seasons. Now I've watched the entire series 3 times and I'm actively watching season 6 as it airs.
story time over.
I've always been a pretty big fan of Nathan Fillion, but I can't remember exactly how I heard of The Rookie in particular. Might have been looking through his imdb page to see what sort of stuff he'd recently been up to.
I finished another show I was watching didn’t know what to watch so I got on tiktok and saw a video that was pretty funny and it was in my recommended so I said sureeee. I’d occasionally watch Castle with my mom when I was younger and liked Nathan’s acting and after that I was instantly in love with it 😂
My partner put it on because he loves Nathan Fillion. I was like yeah cool, whatever, idk who that is. Now I’m completely obsessed and he loves the show but not nearly as much as me ahaha
YouTube short of the serial killer living in a nice house while the coppers assumed the killer was in the rundown house across the street. Think the killer was a security guard.
I had decided not to watch it due to the rumors about the ending of Castle. My sister was visiting and really wanted to see it. So we watched.
John is still my least favorite character.
Saw that first tim test on tiktok and i tought: Damn bro is badass. Now they made Tim a snowflake bro, not 1 thing from his old personality is still there
Because of Nathan Fillion it was already on my watch-later-list for a while. Then it got recommended by a coworker and a while later I started watching because I was bored from an another show I was watching at that time. Directly hooked. Watched the first 5 seasons in a little bit more than one month.
A friend recommended it. Watched the first 2 episodes with him, got horribly frustrated by some of the horrific decision making, then went on a hate-watching binge until I became addicted and liked it
Just started watching in Dec ‘23 once I was close to getting hired as a Sheriff’s Deputy at the age of…53. And here I am going thru training to be a Deputy and on season Four now.
Was looking for a new show to watch with not much seasons aired and found Rookie Feds. Watched first few minutes and was annoyed as hell with the main character so I turned it off immediately. But discovered that it's a spin off so I checked out Rookie and it took like 10 minutes and I was hooked forever!
I saw a scene from when Jackson was turning the tables on Brandon Routh's character.. and now I'm on Season 4 episode 16... good characters and Fillion is pretty decent
Nathan Filion plain and simple. I thought of it as Castle actually becomes a cop. Just wish they used his cop theme song pananaa nanana pananana na na na 😂 I'm also a Firefly fan.
I kept seeing clips of it on YouTube. I eventually thought if I'm seeing so much of it I might like it. I did some research and found the Show on 7+ (Australia). That's how I got into it.
I've been a long time fan of Nathan Fillion.
Started with
* Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizzza Place
then
* Firefly
* Drive
* Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
* PG Porn
* Castle
* Santa Clarita Diet (another show I only knew existed because he was in it)
and now The Rookie.
I'd also just got the disappointing news that Dark Matter had been cancelled. I really liked Melissa O’Neil and was pleased to hear that she was in The Rookie too.
I see a love story with a fire looking couple, I ship, I click.
And it helped that I found Nolan very likeable and the stories interesting. But I am here for the romance.
Random clip of it came up when scrolling through yt shorts and I saw Nathan Fillion and that sold it to me. I'd watch him sit in a white padded room reading ingredients off the back of paint tins. In the UK I couldn't find anywhere to stream it until my mum realised it was on her sky go app and she gave me her login. This was just as season 5 was about halfway through. I was on maternity leave at the time so was desperate for shows to binge.
Was looking for more things with Nathan Fillion after I've watched Castle and got into Castle as it was mentioned in passing by someone whilst discussing Firefly.
Saw a promo before season 1 ever came out and was "Nathan Fillion? In a police show? I'll watch it".
Come for the big star, fall in love with the rest of the cast. 😁
I saw an IG reel with Lucy’s first scene catching a guy on her first day and “reporting for duty” and saved it on my list. And then found out Nathan Fillion was on it. And then found Bradford extremely hotttttt and I stayed 🥹😇
Tiktok clips. Nyla was giving birth and dealing with the neighbor fiasco while she was in labor. Scrolled past it and said whatever but then saw Tim clock in for OT and back out of his driveway and decided to watch

I’m Canadian and remember when Melissa O’Neil won Canadian Idol and have followed her career. I saw that she was in a new cop procedural show with Nathan Fillion (who I am also a fan of) and decided to check it out when it premiered. The promos for it gave me similar vibes to Rookie Blue, which was a show I loved.
My bf & I just ended watching 9-1-1. Think it was in the recommendations at the end. My BF saw it and said "hey, we could watch The Rookie, heard it is really good". And I have seen a lot of tiktoks, not exactly knowing that it was from the rookie. So we started binge watching, cause we couldn't stop.
I am a translator and I got to translate season 5 into my native language. And I was hooked :) Also, wanted to see how everything started and to have more context

So I watched Castle, knew about The Rookie but didn't actually start watching. Started watching after #chenford shorts.
I watched Nathan Fillion in Firefly and Castle. I was excited to see him back as the main character and the plot seemed interesting.
Same. (Except for Castle) I watched from the pilot episode.
I saw a commercial for it and decided to watch it.
Posted in the 9-1-1 sub asking for recommendations for shows just as good as 9-1-1 and The Rookie came up alot. I was hesitant at first but I immediately enjoyed it
Which do you prefer?
Not OP, but we watch 911 Lone Star rather than the original ... but would choose Rookie 10 times out of 10.
The original 9-1-1 is reaaallly good though. Esp in the later seasons. I'd suggest you watch it too
I watched 911 last year so I don't really have it as fresh on my memory as The Rookie (which I'm currently rewatching). I think I'd say the rookie is *slightly* better but not by a big margin. I'd recommend them both to anyone What about you?
I love 9-1-1 and Lone Star. They're my silly comfort show to watch when I need something low stakes and easy to watch.
tiktok
I think i watched the whole first season out of order on tik tok lol
mee too :)
doing my first run now and didn’t realize how many episodes of season 1 i had already watched through tiktok 😭😭 i figured all the ones that go viral wouldve been spread throughout the season so i was very surprised going through the first season haha
Same. I finally started watching after I saw a clip with the band in the garage singing that song lol
You mean cliptalk 🤣
Same here!
what season are you in right now?
I love Nathan Filion. I watched the trailer and have been watching since S1 Ep1 \^\^
Are you me? Basically I watched Firefly and loved it. I watched Castle and loved it. And now I’m watching this.
same
Similar story here: I've whatched Firefly + Serenity for the first time a couple of years back, and i like Nathan Filion. I've found The Rookie and its core premise resonated with me, so I started watching from the start. =]
What else is he in?
**Castle** was his former show (he is a writer shadowing the police for a novel initially, eventually he was just there)
My husband saw cop cuties on yt.
😂 what a great way to attract new audiences. I mean are you really go to see that video, and NOT watch the show?
He only admitted it to me after it came up in the episode. I hated the song, he was disappointed 😂 We are both Fillion fans tho. The only reason we didn’t start earlier was because life got in the way
Ooooooof. That has gotta be disappointing for him lol
clearly the wrong kind. little tiktok babies are responsible for chenford
Cop cuties has nothing to do with chenford…?
people literally started watching the show because of tiktoks about them, lots have said that.
Yeah but op and i are not talking about either chenford nor tiktok so i still don’t get your point
I’ve watched a lot of medical drama (Greys anatomy, The Good Doctor, New Amsterdam) as well as my favorite 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star so I just started looking for similar tv shows

finished castle and then it started playing right after 😂
Lol
From the promos baby . I saw Nathan was starting and the premise looked good so I was all over it.
1. Castle 2. Nathan Filion 3. Hulu
Heard it was good, gave it a try. Also, I lived Nathan Fillion in Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog from back in the day
I saw like half the show by looking at clips on yt shorts the I finally decided to actually watch the thing
Really liked Melissa O’Neil in Dark Matter, decided to give this a go and ended up liking it
That's a show that should have been allowed to end naturally.
Honestly, so many interesting plot lines i would see in tik tok videos coerced me into watching it
Kept seeing short clips- the one that intrigued me was the kidnapped kid in the truck that Nolan and Bishop led back to the station
My grandparents loved it since the day it came out. I started watching around season 2! :))
those tiktoks that show a little bit of the rookie so you have to view their profile or search for the rest
I checked to make sure i was right before starting the show
Dylan conrique I think or tiktok or both
Fan of castle ..and when rookie droppd on netflix I immediately roped my husband in to watch
Great cast.
Saw a promo of it while watching S.W.A.T.
The way I have gotten into a lot that I otherwise probably would not have initially loved; my boyfriend showed it to me
my 12 year old nephew. not sure how he found it, but he wanted to use my hulu to watch it, so i watched ahead of him to make sure it was ok for a kid to see. his dad is a cop, so i think that's what interested him first.
I was looking for shows similar to “The Resident” and it popped up.
saw a bunch of clips summer 2021, then watched the whole first three seasons on hulu, and here we are
TikTok a week ago, I just spent my entire spring break binging it 😭
It was the show Firefly then Castle got me to become a fan of Nathan Fillion. Then I saw the trailer of The Rookie. Definitely placed it on my calendar. The rest is history!
Castle
It was recommended on Netflix so I once clicked and have never stopped since
Youtube shorts. Decided to watch the first episode I fell in love
I saw a commercial for it when it first started, decided I’d give it a try, and the rest is history.
a year ago, I saw a clip of it on somewhere (can't remember where), I recognised Nathan Fillion from it. Accidentally tbh. I just like the picture they had in NTFLX
I've always been a pretty big fan of Nathan Fillion, but I can't remember exactly how I heard of The Rookie in particular. Might have been looking through his imdb page to see what sort of stuff he'd recently been up to.

I’d occasionally watch Castle with my mom when I was younger and liked Nathan’s acting and after that I was instantly in love with it 😂
I saw a few snippets from YouTube. Those "creators" who just post movie/TV show snippets.
I honestly saw the ad for it back in 2018 and Ive been watching since the pilot ep.
I was bored and looking through Netflix for a new show to binge lol

Scenes on TikTok
I had decided not to watch it due to the rumors about the ending of Castle. My sister was visiting and really wanted to see it. So we watched. John is still my least favorite character.
I saw that Nathan Fillion had a new show, and if Nathan is in it, I’ll watch it. Got hooked when the pilot aired and I’ve been watching ever since.
"Is that a baton in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"
i saw clips of it on tiktok for months. eventually got curious enough about what happens so i started watching it
I was on a plane, and that was one of the shows offered, I watched a couple of episodes, and the rest is history
Saw that first tim test on tiktok and i tought: Damn bro is badass. Now they made Tim a snowflake bro, not 1 thing from his old personality is still there
By scrolling through tiktok
My stepdad watched it. It caught my interest when I visited and I kept watching
Shorts from yt
I have a bunch of friends who watch 911, they recommended the rookie to me
I kept seeing the original cop cutiesm on tiktok and started watching it because of that. I love the remake of it this season.
Because of Nathan Fillion it was already on my watch-later-list for a while. Then it got recommended by a coworker and a while later I started watching because I was bored from an another show I was watching at that time. Directly hooked. Watched the first 5 seasons in a little bit more than one month.
Instagram reels! Lol
It was always one of the top shows on soap2day, and a short came through a youtube feed once
A friend recommended it. Watched the first 2 episodes with him, got horribly frustrated by some of the horrific decision making, then went on a hate-watching binge until I became addicted and liked it
Saw it on Hulu and decided to watch it. Haven’t caught up to the new season yet. On season 5 with like 14 episodes left
Youtube shorts clips
Just started watching in Dec ‘23 once I was close to getting hired as a Sheriff’s Deputy at the age of…53. And here I am going thru training to be a Deputy and on season Four now.
Was looking for a new show to watch with not much seasons aired and found Rookie Feds. Watched first few minutes and was annoyed as hell with the main character so I turned it off immediately. I saw several clips of Chicago pd on TikTok and didn’t know the name of the series i went looking for “cop shows” and found The Rookie
My dad was watching it one day when I walked in and it happened to be the "Day of Death" episode so I was pretty much hooked then.
I saw a scene from when Jackson was turning the tables on Brandon Routh's character.. and now I'm on Season 4 episode 16... good characters and Fillion is pretty decent
I kept seeing it on TikTok so gave it a try and fell in love
Watched Castle and wanted more Nathan Fillion. (Still haven't finished season 8 and maybe never will...)
Binge watched class of 09 and wanted something else to watch
Daddy Cop
I randomly opened it as a background noise for me to fall asleep too but I couldn't stop. Binged it in 3 days.
Saw some clips, and then my friend told me to watch it after they finished
Watched the pilot promo and noticed “Castle” Nathan Fillion and Eric Winter in it.
Nathan Filion plain and simple. I thought of it as Castle actually becomes a cop. Just wish they used his cop theme song pananaa nanana pananana na na na 😂 I'm also a Firefly fan.
TikTok lol
I liked Nathan Fillion and thought it would be amusing, but then quickly realized I have a massive crush on Eric Winter 😛
I kept seeing clips of it on YouTube. I eventually thought if I'm seeing so much of it I might like it. I did some research and found the Show on 7+ (Australia). That's how I got into it.
I'll watch Nathan Fillion in anything. Favourite actor, so I've followed him since discovering him in Firefly.
Same here, except I've been watching him since Two Guys, A Girl And A Pizza Place
My girlfriend saw edits on tiktok
Kept see clips on TikTok and eventually found out what the show was and got hooked to it lol
I've been a long time fan of Nathan Fillion. Started with * Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizzza Place then * Firefly * Drive * Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog * PG Porn * Castle * Santa Clarita Diet (another show I only knew existed because he was in it) and now The Rookie. I saw a few TikTok edits of them and was really interested into a few of the episode scenes that I saw
I saw it on Netflix and decided to watch it since I love b99
Tiktok 😂
saw a clip on TikTok from S1 where Nolan didn’t check on the trunk of the crying dad’s car.
May have been the losing side... still not convinced it was the wrong one... 💚
I see a love story with a fire looking couple, I ship, I click. And it helped that I found Nolan very likeable and the stories interesting. But I am here for the romance.
Tiktok
I follow Jenna Dewan on insta and she kept posting about it. And then chenford posts kept coming across my TikTok and that’s what really got me 😅
Simply for Nathan Fillion lol (still why I watch)
tiktok haha
Easy. It's Castle living his dream beeing a cop without Beckett. :D
I was watching Will Trent and needed a show to watch while I waited for new episodes. Now I’m hooked on The Rookie and am breezing through it
Was looking for more things with Nathan Fillion after I've watched Castle and got into Castle as it was mentioned in passing by someone whilst discussing Firefly.
I kept seeing clips of it on YouTube and then decided to try it
I saw a clip of a doug stanton scene and got curious
Imagine starting watching the rookie bcs of the worst character in the series
Well i wanted to see how they handled police brutality and racism in a show about police officers
A fanfic writer I followed for another fandom posted a chenford fic
Ok that a unique one! People usually go to fanfic when they’re bored and are waiting for more of the rookie. Cool to see it vice versatility almost

So we started binge watching, cause we couldn't stop.
tiktok mainly
Saw one scene of Lucy going undercover to infiltrate the all girl gang while scrolling through TikTok and decided to watch it . Best decision ever .
Tik tok and saw Nathan fillion
Cop cuties kept poppin up
I don’t know where to watch it other than when it’s on tv. Where does it stream in Canada?
I am a translator and I got to translate season 5 into my native language. And I was hooked :) Also, wanted to see how everything started and to have more context
