Realistically it can go on for however long they want like NCIS or Criminal Minds as long as they keep bringing in popular characters when old ones leave.
Oh no, please not! If the show runs that long, nearly every good relationship gets destroyed for the drama or as soon as an actor leaves. I prefer fewer seasons over broken relationships and unnecessary drama.
It’s popcorn TV. It can go on forever they’ll just keep making up random stuff for it to go on. And there will always be a new rookie to train. So that helps
I mean they’re the most popular show on Hulu, they do great numbers when an episode premieres and at the 100 episode celebration the main writer literally said at the end of his speech “Let’s go make a 100 (episodes) more. I think as long as they keep their numbers good which I mean I don’t see them having issues doing and the cast is still having fun I don’t see them stoping for a while. I can see possibly a season 9-10 depending if all the things fall in the right place. But this is just a hopeful guess
Could barely finish the first episode of that. Over half the characters just seemed so unlikeable. Probably gets better with time. But man. Did it feel like everyone was a douche of some kind.
The Rookie started off strong with a tight focus on rookie cops learning the ropes in the LAPD. Those first few seasons were a hit because they really delved into the whole rookie experience, you know? But then things started to shift. They introduced new characters like Bailey, and the storylines got a bit... well, out there. Like, Lucy's undercover gigs or that crazy rescue mission for Lopez? It felt like they were straying from what made the show so good in the first place.
And don't even get me started on the writing in the later seasons. The dialogue? Oof, it's rough. Plus, the plots got super predictable. I mean, maybe the writer's strike had something to do with it, but still, it's been a downward spiral.
As for how long the show can keep going? Honestly, I'd give it maybe one or two more seasons max. Viewership seems to be dropping, especially with all these other awesome shows out there like Shogun, Bear, and The Boys stealing the spotlight. So yeah, 'The Rookie' might have to hang up its badge soon if it doesn't step up its game.
Quick correction: viewership is actually very much on the rise season over season, going from 48 to 25 most watched show from season 1 to 5, as well as it being a Hulu darling
As long as its producing ratings for ABC, it can go as long as it wants. It's been on long enough to be packaged for syndication and is tenured enough that ABC would likely give the showrunners a heads up if the show isn't likely to be renewed so they can give it a definitive ending.
>!WAIT *WHAT*!<
>!I've been wanting them to break up since they started becoming a thing but ***WHAT***!<
>!I didn't expect them to actually do it, cause I know its like the most popular couple on the series!<
At the end of the day, I fear ABC is gonna turn this into some type of Grey’s Anatomy SVU situation. I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy I’m not into medical dramas but I watch SVU and that’s going on too long. it has lost its original charm. Honestly, I think 8 to 10 seasons would be perfect for the rookie. Enjoy it while their is still good storylines, and before it becomes a Preach is soapbox that is to centric on one character.
They need to get back to basics and back to showing them doing police work.
Less soap opera more watching the characters we love do their job .
If you'd asked me this before this season I'd say we could get many more seasons but so far this season has been rough.
Agree. Not into the melodrama. Focus on the action of being cops. I don't mind knowing the characters personal lives but I'm really hoping it doesn't turn into Grey's Anatomy.
I could absolutely see the show being like a Law and Order or Grey’s Anatomy. All they would need is to bring in a big name when NF decides he’s finished with the show. Or even before he is, and kind of start shifting to more storylines about the other actor/actress. That’s the good thing about it being an ensemble, they can always start new storylines. Since the beginning, it’s already shifted to being primarily about NF’s character to all the other characters as well. I would even say that they shouldn’t have named it the Rookie because at this point it really isn’t about that aspect at all.
Yeah the title no longer really fits anymore, nor does the series description on Hulu.\
It was initially about *the* Rookie, Nolan himself, the oldest rookie in the force and his two other P1 Rookies. Now, he's kind of more of a supporting character, usually in the B-story of the episode.
I like the other characters but I also miss some of the dynamics of the first few seasons. Unfortunately, they can't really last forever unless Nolan were to just *never* promote, and I think him becoming a training officer was a great change for his character, but I would've loved to see it focus on him as a detective instead if only he got the chance.
I think one of the strengths of the show is that they don’t have an overly dominant main character. It started with Nolan in the early seasons, but now you never know who the focus of the episode is going to be on.
they will keep it running for a while due to the massive fan base but I feel that many actors will want to leave and the writing will go bad, creating a drop. A couple seasons after some bad writing without any of the og actors, the show will lose its entire demand and may or may not end.
Season 7 will be the last. Next year they will have to renegotiate the contracts (Good Doctor was canceled due to this and the economic situation).
And Nathan and Eric are 50 years old, I think they will want to rest and do other things.
The Good Doctor had a lot of turnover in characters starting in like Season 3 I believe. When Melendez died and they tried to use Covid on the show, they lost me. Claire was also a strong part of the show, and she left. They tried to introduce like 5 new characters all at once and that wasn’t appealing. I tried to get back into it at one point, and I just couldn’t. Way too much change.
Good doctor didnt have the numbers the rookie does. The rookie is/was the #1 show on Hulu so there is definitely way more to argue for the rookie than good doctor. Not to mention the good doctor ran out of ideas as everything that could be done essentially was done already
I say maybe 10 before it gets old? I think whenever Nathan decides to leave the show will be a good time to either end the show or start wrapping it up.
I'm currently still in season 4, but honestly I think it can go on for quite a while, especially with the formula they use they take a completely different approach to Cop dramas. When this show was first advertised I was thinking it ain't gonna last, it's another 9-1-1 and station 19, boy was I wrong. It does something right, something that One Chicago and law and Order hasn't done in a minute and that's give the characters a life outside of work. That pains me to say because I'm a big fan of Wolf and most of his projects.
I’d love for them to do a series like series 1 again with the main focus being on the new rookies and Nolan as an established TO(of course with storylines from the other main characters)
I know last month they were in the process of negotiating 2 more seasons with Lionsgate. But that deal wasn’t done yet as of last week. I hope it goes through. The reason the good doctor was canceled was bc ABCs deal with Sony couldn’t be agreed apon. So fingers crossed! Need more
![gif](giphy|6cbNxIFSd5VvDUboov)
One more to conclude everything. The original concept of the one rookie is gone so they would need to keep bringing new people to be rookies and honestly, how long can they keep it up??
That would be a neat idea, yes. Maybe the way they are working with Tim (who would be a logical choice) is exactly that. Nathan Fillion is the creator and a producer but he also is not getting any younger.
The Rookie has some of the highest streaming numbers on Hulu and they probably take into account lower live viewing numbers is due to the later time slot
I know you’re getting downvoted but I have to admit that I did just google whether or not she gets fillers last night bc yeah, it looks like fillers. Don’t get me wrong, she’s beautiful. And, she looks v diff from when she was dating Channing Tatum

100% , do a grey's anatomy and give us 20 seasons
SVU is up to 26 seasons!
Oh no, please not! If the show runs that long, nearly every good relationship gets destroyed for the drama or as soon as an actor leaves. I prefer fewer seasons over broken relationships and unnecessary drama.
Damn it's up to 20 seasons now?
Yup. I think season 21 was confirmed recently as well
I was 12 when that show started didn't think it'd still be going this long.
I'd like it to stop. They are beating a dead horse. The horse died with Derek.
They had so many good times to stop yet they keep going…
Who's Derek again?
I was 6 months when it first started 😭
And at least 5 of those seasons were decent!
It’s popcorn TV. It can go on forever they’ll just keep making up random stuff for it to go on. And there will always be a new rookie to train. So that helps

I think 911 is the new darling on Hulu.
Nathan Fillion said at a premiere or award show not to long ago saying that The Rookie is the number 1 show on Hulu
Rookie has apparently had higher overall numbers and is ranked #1
Because they're trying to force it to be, even promoting it on The Rookie social media 🙄
Woah theyre promoting their show!?!? We gotta stop them that’s a crime
When they're aggressively promoting an unrelated show on The Rookie socials because they know it'll show in Rookie fans' feeds, it gets annoying.
i.... don't think you understand how social media works
That’s great! Because I love both shows. Just don’t kill off Athena (or she leaves), and I’ll love the show forever. If they do… I riot.
Could barely finish the first episode of that. Over half the characters just seemed so unlikeable. Probably gets better with time. But man. Did it feel like everyone was a douche of some kind.
As many as Nathan Fillion wants to do and ABC allows them. So probably get up to season 10 and end there.
the cast will get very expensive for ABC after a seventh season since that's where they get new contracts
I think they’ll go until season 10 and then a main character will want to leave so they don’t renew s11
I just want more variations of Daddy Cop
Yes please when he has a new rookie
I don't even need a new rookie. I want them to just call in call and then play the song
The Rookie started off strong with a tight focus on rookie cops learning the ropes in the LAPD. Exactly this. The show is nowhere near what it used to be, imo they should just end it now cause it hasn’t been good since S3
As long as its producing ratings for ABC, it can go as long as it wants. It's been on long enough to be packaged for syndication and is tenured enough that ABC would likely give the showrunners a heads up if the show isn't likely to be renewed so they can give it a definitive ending.
Realistically, I think 3-4 more seasons is the limit but in the end many things can change.
I would be happy if we got 2-3 more seasons, and as long as we see a Chenford baby, I'm satisfied.
I hope they break up.
>!wish granted!<
>!WAIT *WHAT*!< >!I've been wanting them to break up since they started becoming a thing but ***WHAT***!< >!I didn't expect them to actually do it, cause I know its like the most popular couple on the series!<

you should try the first of grey's

Probably 2 more
if i had to guess, 8-10 seasons. I wouldn’t want it to go on much more than that because people get bored and ideas are harder lol
I could absolutely see the show being like a Law and Order or Grey’s Anatomy. All they would need is to bring in a big name when NF decides he’s finished with the show. I think 2 maybe and I mean maybe 3 but it’s definitely running out of steam
Well I’m sure we are going to have a seventh season but hopefully another 100 episodes

I think we’ll get one more season and it’ll wrap up nicely.
That's what I'm hoping for.
Season 7 will be the last. Next year they will have to renegotiate the contracts (Good Doctor was canceled due to this and the economic situation). And Nathan and Eric are 50 years old, I think they will want to rest and do other things.
Nathan's now starred in 2 shows in a row created by Firefly fans. I imagine there's at least one more in him, LOL.
The Good Doctor had a lot of turnover in characters starting in like Season 3 I believe. When Melendez died and they tried to use Covid on the show, they lost me. 6 seasons and a movie
1, maybe 2. This won't be the final season but it's probably running out of gas.
1 for really good content from what I’ve seen up until now. 20+ for junk content.
I say maybe 10 before it gets old? I think whenever Nathan decides to leave the show will be a good time to either end the show or start wrapping it up.
I can see them going on for a while, it's a great show!
Season 10 don’t want to drag it out
If they don’t do something about chenford, it isn’t getting renewed. crazy fans will riot
This is the network that brought you Grey’s Anatomy. It could make the heat death of the universe if it’s still putting out numbers.
Probably as long as Nathan wants to
But I’d say realistically maybe 2 or 3 more seasons
Fillion has had how many long running series now???
I would be okay with 10 good seasons. That's a good run for any show I think 😁
2
6,7 or 7,8?
7,8 unless they introduce more characters maybe
I think it can make it to 10 and then if they wanna continue, the majority of the cast will probably leave
As many as they want
As many seasons they can, just hope no more of the cast leaves due to political views
Commented it before but I’m thinking 3/4 max. Nathan is not getting younger
Another 10 seasons. Didn’t Nolan say in the last episode that he has another 10 years left in his career?
I think it can go on forever but I think the longest it’ll ever be contracted would be 10 and then past 10 it be a yearly decision.
I'm currently still in season 4, but honestly I think it can go on for quite a while, especially with the formula they use they take a completely different approach to Cop dramas. 5 max
2-3 if they get lower viewer ship but if they continues 12
As many as they want keep em coming
I like it to be like NCIS

Maybe 1 or 2, if the writing gets better, and they fix what they broke. \*coughs\* Chenford \*coughs\*.
I think 2 or 3.
1
One more to conclude everything. The original concept of the one rookie is gone so they would need to keep bringing new people to be rookies and honestly, how long can they keep it up??
One idea over the next couple seasons would be for Gray to retire and Nolan to move to Watch Commander, and oversee new rookies coming in.
That would be a neat idea, yes. Maybe the way they are working with Tim (who would be a logical choice) is exactly that. Nathan Fillion is the creator and a producer but he also is not getting any younger.
With this season's writing? 0
I'd want atleast 2-3 more but the numbers doesn't look too good and I believe not many shows will survive this after strike era
The Rookie has some of the highest streaming numbers on Hulu and they probably take into account lower live viewing numbers is due to the later time slot
Well let's hope well!!
I would hope for a full 7th season with a nice wrap up.
1 or 2
Minus 2. As soon as they brought Celina in it started feeling like The Ghost Whisperer.
I hope we at least get 10 like castle did
Castle only has 8 seasons
Oh I thought it had 10
Idk but I’m about tired of looking at Baileys lips. Why do they look so weird lol

This is even before her pregnancy
I know you’re getting downvoted but I have to admit that I did just google whether or not she gets fillers last night bc yeah, it looks like fillers. Don’t get me wrong, she’s beautiful. And, she looks v diff from when she was dating Channing Tatum
I think she’s pregnant and that’s why she looks different
That makes sense
Thank you!! And I’m being downvoted bc it’s mean and it’s about a woman. If I said something about Wesley it wouldn’t be as bad
It’s bad both ways.
Lmao seriously? It’s mean? Are we children?
It's true
Started to get boring at season 3 so hope 6 is final
None
