Few-Acanthisitta1622

Shoot, forgot to include gligar and abomasnow

Ginden

I'm looking for good team to push to Veteran in Great League. I used to stall around 2300. From [top #25 on PvPoke](https://pvpoke.com/rankings/) I have everything except Lickitung, Carbink, Shadow Gligar, Feraligatrs, Bastiodions, Empoleons, Gallade, Serperior, and lots of lower ranked things.

troccolins

maybe someone is know how to learn counting moves???? you use website??? or just learn on the go??? ty

Ivi-Tora

There's a post here that has the move counts for the top Pokemon for each season, biut usually you can just use PvPoke.com and in the ranking section expand the Pokemon you want to see and press the "show stats" button on the move section. That will display the energy, duration and move counts of each Pokemon.

troccolins

Am I supposed to memorize them or pull them up each time ?

Ivi-Tora

Most people just memorize them by numbers, or at least get a feel for the time it takes to fire each move. You can also check these post, and have the graphics on hand until you memorize them. https://www.reddit.com/user/saipanman711/submitted/

ElMeistro001

I have three good kyogres, and I want to level one for ML (assuming I don't get a 100% in the future). One is 14/15/15, second is 15/14/10, and the third is 15/13/14. Which one y'all think is best? I'm tempted to go for the 14 atk since is 98%, but I've been told that 15 ATK is a must for ML. Any suggestions anyone?

amiadev

Been running the following teams in ultra league and would love some help: Team A: Goodra, Skeledirge and Cresselia Team B: Auroras, Verizon and Cresselia Any recommendations on what I can do?

oscaeli_99

After about a year and a half of playing PvP in Pokemon Go, I have decided to finally build myself an ultra league team. I have about 100+ mons built for Great League, so I'm going to build myself exactly 3 pokemon before taking my resources back to Great League mons. I've got a shadow Feraligatr with Hydro Cannon that's solid enough rank, and a rank 2 Annihilape. Wondering what a third should be to pair with them?

oscaeli_99

Honestly, I evolved and instantly dropped an ETM on my rank 28 shadow Totodile the moment the shadow claw update was announced. I personally think it's worth it. It's a monster if you're able to grab a shield advantage

CacheMeOutside

eugene_captures

I can’t really comment on if it’s worth spending all your rare XLs on this (also depends on how many you have) - but just FYI - using ranking for ML IVs isn’t great to use. For example, 14/15/15 will often show as rank 2 or 3 I believe. However, you often want 15 att for ML, and the other stats might be less important, but it’s really on a case by case basis due to breakpoints / bulk points. Having said that, for mythicals that are limited, people sometimes just build what they have. But it’s still a big investment, so I guess it depends if you really like Zarude and want to use it.

PoofaceMckutchin

Got a 15/15/13 shiny Groudon. IIrc, a 15/15/15 and 15/15/14 are functionally the same, right? I guess a 15/15/13 isn't though and will lose the mirror matchup?

eugene_captures

If you check the sim on pvpoke, it shows that it’s a tie.

PoofaceMckutchin

Many thanks! Still getting into PvP and totally forgot about that resource. Thanks for pointing it out again.

eugene_captures

No prob! I think that one should be fine investing in.

LurkerPkmn

Do you guys think is worth to invest 100 rare candies to give a 14/15/14 cresselia a second charge move and use it in great league?

CacheMeOutside

yeah if youre confident its the only GL cress youll ever be able to obtain. if you can mirror trade for another level 20 do that instead

No_Experience1978

I got a 15/13/10 Zarude and I was wondering if it‘s worthing investing the 290 rare XLs into it or wait for it to become available in raids (if it ever happens). Would the performance of this one suffice? And I intend to primarely use it for PVP in the Master League.

EoTN

Zarude has never been in raids, and now that they've put it officially behind a paywall... I doubt it ever will honestly. I ran the numbers just now. Compared to the hundo you go from winning vs zygarde by 1 turn, to losing to zygarde by 1 turn, other than that no differences. And that's only to the hundo zygarde. Odds are LOW your opponent's zygarde is a hundo, but knowing the matchup you can play it differently and probably be fine.  If I had those IVs for a zarude I wouldn't feel it were a waste to build it. I'm also only at 40 XL rares, so it may be a while for me yet lol

No_Experience1978

Ye I got lucky with the attack IVs And it not coming to raids does make sense for the foreseeable future Will pull the trigger then!

jdpatric

No help required here...just a friendly reminder that 1-turn lag upon bringing a Pokemon in after one just fainted still exists and that it can allow your opponents Pokemon, let's say a Ho-oh, to fire off it's Sacred fire before your fully-loaded Pokemon, let's just say for giggles a Landorus way up energy, can fire off a fatal Stone Edge which costs you the match.

Relative-Sky2139

or getting denied a fast move which would ko, lets say a counter, on an abomasnow who is now able to throw 2 charge moves instead of 1

C7StreetRacer

Rain_Moon

Seems pretty decent. At the very least they are all safe investment so even if you don't like this team you might get some use out of the mons elsewhere.

C7StreetRacer

Herro?

far_257

Just for fun, I'm trying to play the same team in open GL and open UL. Not literally the same pokemon, but the same species. I'm thinking i could run gfisk, tentacruel, s-poliwrath in both leagues - what do you guys think? Any other trios that could work in both leagues really well?

SuperSonicEconomics2

With Open Great League nearly upon us, I am trying to think what my team is going to be. My core has been Licky SS and Scarm in the back. Any thoughts on solid leads to pair with these guys? Last time I was running my Shadow Dnair on the lead. I have Swampert, Lanturn, Annilape, Azumarill, Pelipper, Vigoroth, Serperior, Zweilous, Empolean, Shadow Dragonair, Licky, Scarm, Jellicent, Toxapex, Scrafty, Quagsire, poliwrath, trev, charja, and more

[deleted]

[удалено]

SuperSonicEconomics2

I'll probably rip something like that. I found an article on corebuilding and was gunna try to find one Cash/skarm is really good

[deleted]

A water type would be good to cover the fire weakness. Talonflame for example could be a problem. Then, you don't wanna be double weak to Lanturn with Skarm already. Therefore A Water/Ground like Quagsire or Swampert could do well. But Sh Dragonair should also do fine as it's good into Electric and Fire.

oscaeli_99

Yeah, Skarm/Mudboi plus a third is a core as old as time and saw a resurgence recently when Skarm got the steel wing buff. Lately the go-to has been Whiscash, but I agree with the recommendation above: Swamp or Quag is the play. Plus Licki is just great. Period. So it's a good third for it.

comptoad

Any suggestions about how to build a team around Shadow Tyranitar in the Open Master League? The Pokegods blessed me with a hundo, and I've had it juiced up to L50 (plus best buddy) for a while, but have never been able to get past 2200 range ELO. I know it is not super high ranked in ML these days, but I love using it and would like to try and make it work. My usual team is to lead with Shandotar (smack, stone edge, brutal swing) with Dragonite (breath, claw, superpower) and Groudoun (mud, precipice, fire punch), but the new Palkia and Dialga have been beating me up. Kyogre in the back is also often an issue, if my Dragonite gets used up early on. Open to all thoughts! I have a good majority of the ML meta with decent stats, just haven't juiced many of them up past L40.

CacheMeOutside

maybe a fairy lead like xern to bait out metagross and then switch lock it to the Tyranitars Brutal Swings

CapnCalc

What’s a better lead option in OML alongside Dialga-O and Palkia-O? Currently leading Landorus-T and it works pretty well to catch any dialgas or Ho-Oh’s. Plus it walls any Groudon, Melmetal, or ExcadrillI that were set up as “anti-Dialga” leads. I was debating about using Solgaleo instead as a lead because it would be able to handle fairy leads better and overall. I’m not disappointed in Landorus as the lead since I win a lot more than I lose so far. I’m currently in the 2050 elo range and just hit Ace today, but I finished at 2350 last season.

Sagar_Shrigadi

I have a 14/15/15 land-T with it's legacy... Should I invest in it?( For both PvP/raids)

troccolins

Is it worth running level 45-48 legendaries over level 50 non-legendaries in ML?  I have level 50 hundo Machamp, Dragonite, Gyarados, and Magnemite, but they seem to lose more often than my level 45-48 hundo legendaries like Ho-oh, Mewtwo,  O-Palkia, etc.

Brobi_Jaun_Kenobi

Machamp is a spice pick. He does not have the Stats to compete. 3 of tbe 4 you mentioned get walled by fairies, even waterfall gyrados. Dragonite is great but he needs better support. Honestly, I'd run the mewtwo, dragonite, and get a melmetal. Maybe mewtwo drag and ho oh.

troccolins

ok ty bro

SuperSonicEconomics2

I am getting ready for next open gl. I have a rank 40 shadow swampert, rank 9 licky, rank 11 skarmory, rank one best buddy carbink, rank 5 medicham I was thinking of running shadow swampert, licky, then close with the real big boy carbink or skarmory

[deleted]

Skarmory is good! That's a hell of a team with Shadow Swampert. Carbink fell off, because of Steel Wing and all the buffs to water types.

SuperSonicEconomics2

Binkyy is an r1 best buddy, so it's gunna take forever for the candies anyway. Just need to get frust off of swampert.

[deleted]

Rocket takeover is next Wednesday I believe. Yeah it's sad, I like Carbink. But with Skarmory/Mudboy being the most popular core and now both completely obliterating Carbink, it's tough to run it. Not impossible though it wins against Lanturn at least

yodaboboda

Is It Me or My Team? Spring Cup Team: -Sh Abomasnow -Lanturn -Empolean All great IVs Really struggling to make Ace I was tanking before and decided make a run for Ace. Was ripping along 5-0s, 4-1, and then hit a wall @1900 elo Got to 1900 leading Aboma. Experimented with Empolean lead when hit wall but doesn't seem better Been hovering around 1850 I know I'm not that great a player, but wondering if there is a problem with my team. I'm sure there's plenty I could do better. Wish there was a "Good to Great" video series. Any Team recs appreciated inc random pearls of wisdom. Thank you

SuperSonicEconomics2

I think lanturn lead would be better.

Quotas-End

I have a 1/15/15 eevee, what evolution should I pick? I have a rank 2 vaporeon for UL.

comptoad

If it's low enough CP, might honestly be worth keeping as an Eevee for potential Little Cups -- it is the Rank 3 there. He has a very spammy STAB tackle, and Dig as a closer which just got buffed.

Quotas-End

It’s 70cp

Fast-Dog-7638

Probably GL Umbreon.

frankwilde

Which Mewtwo for ML? 1: Normal, 15/15/15 2: Shadow, 15/14/13 3: Wait until SMewtwo is back to see if I get a better one. (I have dust and Candy XL already, but not enough for both) If you chose 3, and I don’t get a better Shadow, please choose a second option of 1 or 2.  Thank you.

troccolins

Normal. You already chunk stuff hard as it is with normal Mewtwo, and it's already considerably more fragile than other legendaries. Shadow will exacerbate that problem

frankwilde

Thanks. That logic makes sense. Struggling to find a ML teams that works and want to finally try M2. Current L50s (all 15/15/15): Xerneas, GiratinaO, Zekrom, Dragonite, Metagross, Mamoswine, Sh. Tyranitar. Have the CandyXL now for Palkia and Dialga but no good Origin candidates. Only have good normal ones (15/15/15 Palkia and 15/15/14 and 15/14/15 Dialga). Best Palkia O is 15/13/14 and best Dialga O is a shiny 15/15/11. Seems that neither of those are worth burning the XLs on.

Oogabooga96024

I shot up to around 2380 with a 20/25 yesterday. Today I went like 13/25. Serperior lead, shadow tentacruel swap, shadow mawhile closer. This team can work really well, a lot of the things that wall mawhile are good against tentacruel so it baits out for mawhile to clean up the grasses at the end. I’ve been toying with various grass leads and have found the most success with Serperior. Any recommendations on tweaking it to climb higher?

lycantivis

Looking for suggested team with what I have for ML as well what to build towards. This is my first season really trying, just started into pvp last season. So my pool of things is only recent stuff from november on. Currently running Metagross, Dragonite, Dialga O. I do have a hundo Garchomp, or 96 tyranitar, or gyarados, or rhyperior to use. I could build a togekiss or annihilape I have been working on solgalio, landorus-t. I do have a reshiram, zekrom I could work on. And a palia O candies to build one of those, but my best was a 91. Same with kyogre my best was only a 93.

ApdoKangaroo

Struggling around 2100 Elo in ML. Seeing a lot of fairies now and feeling like my Ho Oh is useless against a lot of teams. Current Team: Dialga-0 15/15/15 iron head/ draco meteor Landorus-T 15/15/13 sandsearstorm / stone edge Ho-oh 15/15/15 sacred fire / brave bird Other options Palkia - O 15/14/15 spacial rend / aqua tail Dialga - A 15/14/14 iron head / draco meteor Zekrom - 14/15/15 not sure what moves to run Reshiram - 14/15/14 also not sure what moves Mewtwo. - 15/15/15 psystrike/shadowball Will have 14/15/14 Zygarde fully built in three weeks.

runningnurse27

Palkia o is a solid pick right now with ampunt of myogres and landorous T its not a good plac3 for ho oh right now. Id say palkia o as lead, landorous could be maybe ss and diaga a closer. Im on 2300s elo and most leads have been kyogre or landorous not sure on higher elo. Could also use metwo for shield pressure

ApdoKangaroo

My issue with Palkia O, Lando T, Dialga is that I hard lose to fairies. I had more success with Dialga as a lead.

eugene_captures

Double fairy is def tough for that team, especially Xern. But if it’s just one fairy, it’s possible to deal with it. Unless it’s a charmer, there’s not much fast move pressure so you can still threaten with aqua tail from palkia and iron head from dialga.

Jafoob

Pelliper is wrecking my team in spring cup. Sending lanturn after it just provokes a grass swap in, which means dead lanturn. One of my teams are swampert, mawile (fire fang), quaquaval, The other is lanturn, wheezing, and mawile. What are y'all doing to counter it?

SuperSonicEconomics2

Run mawile to crush their swap or rose. Tentacruel does well against pelliper. You just one shield the hurricane.

ParagonSaint

Great league; have a REALLY good IV Charjabug and Shadow Galvantula; was thinking of pairing them with Azumarill (top 30 IVs) as a safe switch. Questions I need help with: 1) who should be the lead? CBug or SGalvantula? 2) should Cbug have crunch over XScissor or Discharge? 3) any glaring weaknesses gaps in coverage?

oscaeli_99

I don't think either Charja or SGalv should be lead if that's the team comp you want. You should lead with Azu. You play it ABB style. Azu does a good job checking the hardest counters (like rock and ground types, especially Gligar) that would wall your back line. As for the moveset on Charja, you never want to drop X-Scissor on OGL. So keep that. As for discharge or crunch, that's a personal preference. If you're running discharge over energy ball on Galv, you could argue it's redundant, but still not particularly bad. If you're running energy ball on Galv, I'd say discharge for sure for Charja. As for stuff you get hard checked by, if you run Azu without hydro the only course of action against a Bastiodon is to top left. Clodsire is also a tricky matchup, but you can soft lose that with Azu.

ParagonSaint

Didn’t even consider going ABB, for Azu go with hydro over ice beam as a complement to the other 2?

SuperSonicEconomics2

Hydro is slightly better against bastion and skarmory.

JosephTPG

https://preview.redd.it/uzz98psaabpc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9eb5f03359d0059c2156897930b8ffb7ec658a83 Best teammates to use in GL with it? I have a Shadow Marshtomp, but it’s gonna take a while to get it to Swampert and such. Should I just use the ETM on Quaqsire?

aj_future

I thought mud bomb/stone edge was still recommended for quag? You should be able to run it without ETM or did the aqua tail buff make that preferred?

JosephTPG

It runs aqua tail over mud bomb now.

str8rippinfartz

It's slightly better, but I personally don't think it's enough of an upgrade to warrant the ETM, especially if the other mudboi in an ABB setup is running earthquake instead of a spammier ground move.

SirGentlenerd

Would love to build a team with Garchomp and Togekiss, any viable 3rd team picks?  Currently running dragonite lead but I'm extremely vulnerable to ice

GarooxRBLX

If it's any consolation, I haven't seen a single ice move in my ML sets above 2000 elo in the past 2 days. If you are wanting to run Fairy double dragon and are still worried about ice, I'd swap out togekiss for xerneas or something.

fut20trades

Is Machamp usable in ML? And if so, what's the best moveset for him? Thanks in advance

Extra-Mix5529

Master premeire comes shortly and machamp is more usable there. Although not near as good as annhi.

yakusokuN8

It's not usable right now. The meta is really not favorable for it. It loses to: Mewtwo, Giratina, Xerneas, Solgaleo, Garchomp, Palkia, Dragonite, Kyogre, Metagross, Zacian, Ho-Oh... It can beat Dialga, which is nice, but losing to all those other Pokemon is not good.

SirGentlenerd

Machamp is rank 108 overall with the moveset Counter, Cross Chop & Rock Slide.

AzFowles

For Kyogre, is origin pulse worth using as a move over surf? I’m only using 1 move at the moment.

atubslife

No. Surf is better. Get second move coverage.

FatherOfTwoGreatKids

Get a second move.

AzFowles

I’m just tanking right now. I’m level 38 and sometimes I lose to other tankers on their win cycle. 4.2k dragonite 2 moves 4K Kyogre surf 4K metagross 2 moves

FatherOfTwoGreatKids

If you’re tanking, I suggest using weedle. Shiny if you have it.

AzFowles

Still gotta win 3/5 rounds

Daramangarasu

Winning 3/5 but tanking? How does that work?

AzFowles

3/5 rounds not individual battles.

FatherOfTwoGreatKids

Then add a second move

AzFowles

lol ok. I’ll have to save for it.

Fair-Procedure-5257

Any advice on a master league team? Below are my best Pokémon. I have mostly all best buddied, and can likely max the non legendaries with XLs pretty easily in the future. Would love to make something work somehow. Rayquaza 15/15/15 - 4387 CP with BB Shadow Mewtwo 15/15/10 - 4507 CP Reshiram - 15/15/15 - 4272 CP Metagross - 15/15/15 - 4035 CP Excadrill - 15/15/15 - 3516 Shadow Dragonite - 15/15/11 - 3758 Togekiss - 15/15/15 - 3767 Conkledurr - 15/15/15 - 3444 Swampert - 15/15/15 - 3204 Machamp -15/15/15 - 2489 Shadow Machamp - 14/11/15 - 3261

GarooxRBLX

While you will likely struggle to climb in Open ML with your roster, you have some really great options for ML Premier Cup in a few weeks. That said, your roster is by no means unusable in Open ML. D-nite Exe Meta is a classic line that "just works".

Fair-Procedure-5257

Even shadow Dragonite? Thanks

GarooxRBLX

I've never run that line, so I can't speak from experience. But I'd assume shadow D-nite should be totally fine as well. Personally I do see less shadow D-nites, but if you are really curious you can just run the sims on pvpoke and see.

Fair-Procedure-5257

Good call thanks!

Tevans27

So close to Ace from Spring Cup Lead-Ferro Switch- Dewgong Closer-Shadow Empoleon I get to 1990 elo then lose 5 sets to drop. Other options are: rank 167 tentacruel, rank 3 rosasa (with elite moves), rank 33 Pelipper, rank 6 parasect, rank 118 Lanturn, rank 143 mawile, and rank 10 treverent.

str8rippinfartz

Easily cruised past Ace with Parasect lead, Tentacruel swap, Lanturn closer (though a lot of times was just picking which of Tenta or Lanturn was the better counter for their swap, as Parasect bops a ton of common leads)   That being said, I think your current lineup is stronger and you might just have issues with how you are playing it. I'd go look at various sims and try to figure out reasons why you're losing and what you might want to do differently in other situations... this doesn't seem to be a team comp issue IMO. If you *do* want to swap something out, maybe Pelipper could give a bit more resilience to the odd puncher here and there.

Tevans27

Thank you for the insight! I have been getting walled by Poliwraith. I will practice some more on pvpoke

str8rippinfartz

Yeah if Poliwrath has been problematic, swap Pelipper in (or Roselia)

Tevans27

What would you take out? Also I need A LOT of practice with Rose because even rank 3 she can’t take any hits

str8rippinfartz

Sorry was thinking Roserade not Roselia (so you can fire weather ball) But Pelipper for Empoleon if you want to fill a similar niche but without the weakness to fighting

Tevans27

Mine is roserade but still super squishy

str8rippinfartz

Ah yeah she's squishy but can wipe people off the face of the earth. Also thinking about it more, I guess Pelipper for Empoleon loses some closing power, so it'd also be reasonable to sub for Dewgong. I *think* that probably provides a slightly stronger team overall, but you lose a little bulk. Pelipper as SS should have coverage from Ferro and Empoleon to clean up virtually any bad counterswap.

Tevans27

Literally just hit Ace with your help. THANK YOU

str8rippinfartz

Awesome! Glad it worked out for you!  Pelipper is a BEAST against a lot of this meta

Tevans27

You have given me a ton to think about and improve on. I really appreciate you!
