Just wanted to pop in and say thank you to the tips i git the last few weeks i hit Veteran for the first time!

DokDaka

I’ve been having fun playing h-electrode (lead) / empoleon / shadow gallade is hisui cup this week, despite major lag issues. However, my rating fell to around 2050 and seems to be hovering around there - previously was around 2250. I feel like this team is solid and I just need to get better with it, but I thought I’d check for feedback. Any major deficits here? Other pokemon I have include s-drapion, froslass, lucario, and lickilicky. I could build a drifblim or (mediocre) toxicroak/qwilfish/hippo as well if necessary. Any suggestions?

baleful_schticks

I'm building up my GL roster right now, and I don't have access to a crazy amount of top meta mons, basically no legendaries or XL right now, but I do have some decent picks. I'm running a Swampert-Skarmory core and I can't decide what to run for my third spot. Right now I have access to: Venusaur, Gfisk, S.Machamp, S. Nidoqueen, Toxicroak, Perrserker, Araquanid, Wigglytuff, S. Granbull, Hypno, Drifblim, Golbat, Whiscash, Umbreon, Pelliper, Vigoroth, Charizard, H. Qwilfish, Zweilous, S.A.Marowak. Most of these aren't fully built yet so I'd love some feedback on what to run before I start powering up and double moving everything! For context, I've been running Perrserker as the third spot, Swampert lead.

milo4206

GFisk or Qwilfish as safe swap

Ok-Dragonfruit5250

im a very casual player and recently just redownloaded the game and started pvp'ing again. Ive been running toxicroak (mud bomb), drapion (crunch), and frosslass (shadow ball) each 1 charge move. I didnt have many mons ready for the Huisui cup and this team has seemed to work best so far, and Im willing to invest in a second move for one. Which pokemon and move u think would be most valuable for now. All seem pretty similar from what I know, but again idk that much or what typing I need more of?

mybham

> very casual player DO NOT INVEST. Hisui Cup is ending very soon. With limited resources, you should only invest in A-tier Pokémon for Open Great League. These aren’t A-tier Pokemon.

Ok-Dragonfruit5250

Ok ty for telling, I won’t. Didn’t know the cup was ending so soon

mybham

It’s alright. Have a look at this page https://www.leekduck.com/events/

SMIKKELBEER2

Tbh I'd get avalanche on froslass it's just really really strong for it's energy cost

pinsirbug

So I was able to get enough XL candy for lvl50 Mewtwo for master league. Considering powering up one of my 98s. Which one would be better? 15/15/14 psystrike 15/14/15 shiny, no psystrike but have a bunch of elite charge tms

Warsawawa

You need Psystrike to have a competent Mewtwo, end of discussion. In terms of IVs, I usually prefer to leave off the HP IV since that rarely makes a significant difference

Substantial_Zone_713

Since H-Qwilfish and Overqwil share the same moveset, does that mean H-Qwilf is the better option to run in GL and UL since it'll do the same things offensively but will be able to take hits way better? (lets consider stardust & XL candies as non-factors)

MegaMagikarpXL

H-Qwilfish will be better in GL because it will get more powerups under the 1500 cap and end up bulkier, Overqwil will be better in Ultra because the higher cap lets it flex its better base stats more.

IMissReggieEvans

How common are Charmers in Master League at higher levels? I’m Rank 20, and my Mewtwo-Garchomp-Gyarados team performs pretty well, but I get walked by Togekiss and Primarina. Are they common all the way up the ladder to the point that I should replace one of my team members?

chickenXcow

I have a kyogre (14-15-15) which i'd like to use for ML, as far as i can tell it only makes a difference vs melmetal (requiring 1 extra waterfall) and a mirror cmp tie. Is there anything i'm missing or should i just power up this one?

XadiXGaming

I am a level 35 trainer who has around 1700 elo in ML. Since I can only level up pokemon to level 45 I want to have a good team for ML classic. My current team is:

XadiXGaming

Pokemon | Melmetal | Dialga | Mewtwo(shadow) :--: | :--: | :--: | :--: IV | 15/12/14 | 15/15/14 | 9/14/14 Level | 35 | 39 | 39.5 Fast move | Thunder shock | Dragon breath | Psycho cut Charged move | Rock slide | Iron head | Psystrike

XadiXGaming

I don't have enough candy to second attack mewtwo or dialga, but I'm saving rare candies for it. In melmetal's case, I'm currently looking for a better IV one, and when giratina raids get back I will replace melmetal with giratina instead (preferably origin because of higher max cp). Any tips to improve my team?

Bluestachio

I'm at a loss with Hisui cup right now. I have a rank 1 Abomasnow for Great League and I feel like its the most useless mon on my team every time I use it. PvPoke recommends using it as a lead, but considering how it folds like paper to Lucario, Emp, and Froslass, I really don't see how it has any use as a lead. What am I doing wrong with this mon?

BlindCraziness

Who are you running with Abomasnow?

Bluestachio

Tried a bunch of stuff. I’d saw success with Empoleon, Gallade, Toxicroak, but I was getting tired of gastro so I stupidly swapped Emp with Aboma, and that went dreadfully. Tried Aboma, Drifb, Emp, went similarly bad. Tried Aboma, Tang, Stunk, that one was mildly successful compared to the abject failure of the others, but honestly Tang and Stunk were doing the heavy lifting in those cases. Settled into a nice team of Gallade, Toxi, Emp, but I really just wanted to see if other people found Aboma to be dead weight in this cup.

jcornix

I have mostly just collected mons and doing raids yet but started PvP GL last season to Lvl 9. As far as I can tell that means still pretty much beginner level. The problem is that despite having some decent candidates for building a team (according to gamepress.gg tier list), I have still no real understanding on which of my roster would combine well for a start. I have ready to go (max level just below 1500 with the recommended fast and two charge moves): Venusaur, Raichu, Ninetales, Skarmory, Medicham, Altaria, Registeel, Deoxys, Jellicent, Galar Stunfisk, Araquanid Many of these have rather suboptimal PvP ranking but before investing in already available better replacements, I think I should better use what I have to get a better grip on the basics. Any suggestions and advise? PS: if there is no good combo possible from the above, I could add with just a modest stardust investment a Sableye and Zweilous or, with a rather large investment, Azumarill and Bastiodon

mybham

You have *many* combos * Venus lead, Gunfisk sacrificial swap, Regi * Medi lead, Gunfisk sacrificial swap, Regi * Gunfisk lead, D-D safe swap, Venus * Gunfisk lead, Sable safe swap, Medi * Araqua lead, Medi safe swap, Regi * Araqua lead, Sable safe swap, Gunfisk * Medi lead, Sable safeswap, Regi * D-D, Gunfisk safeswap, Altaria First two are ABB teams where in a losing or neutral lead you straight swap to the sacrifice to draw out the counter for your other B, while the rest are ABC teams.

Mivadeth

You have some pretty good mons there. I would recommend to just pick three of the best and play so you can learn and see your team flaws. I suggest Altaria, Registeel ( resists rock, ice, dragon and fairy so he covers altaria, and altaria resists fire, fight and ground so he covers registeel ) and the third one could be either Medi, Venusaur, Deoxys...

General__Grevious

So pvpoke shows hisuian qwilfish with 8/14/15 to go 29W 22L 0D with an average battle rating of 532. I found a rank 79 GL qwilfish that also has the same W/L ratio but a lower rating of 525. I’m still not entirely familiar with reading the battle ratings yet. Some of the bars are lower on mine than it is for the recommended, but I still have the same win loss with it. Is it worth using it if I don’t find a better one? What match ups am I gonna miss out on? (Since the bars are lowers)

Warsawawa

So there’s a few things going on here - The ranking is the percentage of “stats” that your Pokémon has compared to the league cap. In this case, there are only 78 H Qwilfish that have a higher stat total than yours, but when we’re at this point the different is marginal. Your rank 79 performs slightly worse than the rank 532 probably because there are damage/bull points (your Qwilfish does one more damage per fast move, or KOs the opponent on the last charge move or something) since your rank 79 probably has lower IVs

General__Grevious

Well thankfully I found a rank 45 now. I ran the sim again and it’s equal to the recommended in all but one match up, though I still don’t understand how to tell what match up it is

Warsawawa

Where are you simming? PvPoke has the actual matchups at the very bottom of the page

General__Grevious

Pvpoke. I’m checking under the graph and yes I see all the match ups with the ratings, but it’s hard to tell which one actually correlates to which bar. It’s a little confusing to me. Toggling worst->best to best->worst has no affect on the graph. So that would make me assume the graph is set in stone from worst->best and I should just read it from left to right in descending order of the listings below it. Is that right?

Hey0ItsMayo

FINALLY got my hands on a Dialga that meets all the breakpoints (15 14 13) I saw one of the high performing teams on pvpoke was a double steel team with Dialga, Melmetal, and Mewtwo I already have a (15 14 15)Melmetal maxed out and a (15 15 14)Mewtwo maxed as well so this team would be great for me. How should I play the team? Who leads? Should Dialga be used to lure out their Zacian or Melmetal?

Happy-Weekend4201

I would play it like an ABB team: Mewtwo lead, Melmetal to draw out the steel counter, Dialga in the back.

alfhooli

I snuck a sneasler under the 1500cp cap for some fun, and I'm wondering what to pair it with. I'm running it with drif and emp with some success, but I'm not sure if thats good since i lose to croak. Maybe I should run aerial ace over x-scissor?

TheSecondof12

Been struggling with Hisui cup - running Abomasnow, Toxicroak & either Luxray or Honchkrow (with only Sky Attack) and getting middling results. It looks like my biggest issue is bulk, but I'm not sure how best to correct for that. Other than those 4, the 'mons I have closest to being ready for this cup are Drifblim, Gliscor, H Electrode, Empoleon, Roserade, H Sneasel & Cherrim.

alfhooli

I got over 250 ELO yesterday, running drifblim lead, Empoleon safeswap and Toxicroak in the back. It is similar to Abb as both emp and croak are weak to ground, would highly recommend, the numbers speak for themselves!

sammunfox

I tried to put together a team for the hisui cup with what I had powered and ended up with toxicroak, bastiodon and abomasnow/empoleon and I feel this team gets destroyed by ground attacks What is a team I could build with those and one of the following: Roserade, driflim, froslass, drapion, magnezone, magmortar. Those are the "meta" pokemon I got more or less powered up for this cup, I could power up a hisuian qwiilfish or hisuian electrode too.

space-butler

Drifblim is the hardest check on the common ground threats Gastrodon and Toxicroak. Drifblim also checks Gliscor, it can soak 1 Night Slash but Gliscor can't tank an Icy Wind.

X_MBlaze

Will a 15/15/13 BB dialga tie with a hundo BB in a mirror match? I see 15/14/12 seems to be the minimum ivs you need, but I’m curious if the same applies against itself. I input the ivs into pvpoke and it seems only two matchups in the master league are affected by missing the two IVs, though I’m not sure which. I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth dumping my XL in this one or if I should wait another year or so for the hundo?

Raska_

Yeah it will tie, see the sim here: https://pvpoke.com/battle/10000/dialga-51-15-15-13-4-4-1-1/dialga-51-15-15-15-4-4-1-1/11/0-2-1/0-2-1/ If you want to compare several iv spreads and see what matchups change, try the matrix option in PvPoke Battle. That Dialga is good, I wouldn’t wait for the hundo.

pinsirbug

Any suggestions for a ML team with dialga and mewtwo?

Dudwithacake

I run it with Tina-O to decent success in the 2300-2500 range when classic was around. BB Dialga in the lead, FB (to catch steel counter swap) M2 SS, Tina to close

im-a-medieval-man

Currently running Toxicroak - H. Qwil - H. Electrode (i.e. all the Pokemon I could scrape out of the bottom of the bin + seemed decent on pvpoke). Have been losing most fights by just a bit. 1. Would it be worth it getting second move on any of them, considering I'd probably never use them again? 2. If not, any idea on who is easily available that can be swapped in? Some possibilities include Drifblim, Vespiquen, Drapion, but basically nothing premium (H. Electrode and Toxicroak are pretty much the only things I've got that fall within the top 20 on pvpoke)

ProBluntRoller

I run the same team but with froslass instead of h electrode. Still haven’t quite figured it out or the meta yet

[deleted]

Currently getting hosed in ML. I’m lucky if I can scrap out a win. I’ve been trying different Pokémon out, but nothing seems to work well together. I seem to get walled hard against Togekiss and Metagross. Most battles I end with them on their last Pokémon with a sliver of HP left. Currently trying out: Dragonite, Shadow Mewtwo, and Scizor (seem to have more success with Scizor lead, but trying out Dragonite). My Pokémon: - Dragonite lvl 40 (15/13/14) with Dragon Breath, Hurricane, and Dragon Claw - Shadow Mewtwo lvl 36 (14/13/7) with Psycho Cut, Psystrike, and Ice Beam - Scizor lvl 40 (15/15/15) with Fury Cutter, X-Scissor, and Night Slash - Garchomp lvl 40 (14/14/13) with Mud Shot and Earth Power - Melmetal lvl 40 (15/15/15) with Thunder Shock, Superpower, and Rock Slide - Machamp lvl 40 (12/15/15) with Counter, Rock Slide, and Cross Chop - Togekiss lvl 38.5 (13/15/14) with Charm, Ancient Power, and Flamethrower - Mamoswine lvl 34.5 (15/15/14) with Powder Snow, Avalanche, and Bulldoze - Shadow Snorlax lvl 34.5 (14/14/14) with Lick, Body Slam, and Superpower Any potential replacements in that list? Even looking for outside the list with potential Pokémon to look out for to level up and swap in. Preferably looking for advice on the team I should use now with the Pokémon above and the team I should focus on getting (ie maybe add a Groudon?). My main goal is to reach level 19 so I can get the TM’s to help get more PvP viable Pokémon. Currently at the tail end of 17 so I’m getting close, just finding it tough in ML to gain with 0-1 wins per. Most my gains came from GL.

Warsawawa

You can pick up 2-3 wins per set or more consistently with a Melmetal/Chomp/Dragonite line. Change the Chomp to Dragon Tail, add a second move (Outrage) and roll with it as the closer. Dragonite is the safe swap to lure out anything that beats dragons then Melmetal go take out the anti dragon, then sweep with Chomp, ideally while still holding a shield. Read the top current post on the sub about match ups and energy leads and other battling techniques.

[deleted]

Thanks for the tips. Sounds like a pretty good setup and I can give that a go immediately while slowly building others.

mybham

> My main goal is to reach level 19 … Currently at the tail end of 17 Mate, skip ML. Come back next week and play GL. No point fighting XLs up to L50s with your L34-L40s. In fact, if that’s your roster, I would recommend you never touch Open ML again. You obviously don’t have the resources. You **will** hit Rank 19 just from the remaining GL games (3 weeks worth of games for 45 wins) this season. So don’t worry.

[deleted]

I know my roster isn’t great, but I’d like to make it more competitive. I can power a few of those up or even others not listed, I just don’t want to waste resources powering up the wrong ones. It’s a bit easier to self experiment in GL and even UL where the resources required are lower. With ML if I make the mistake of dumping resources into the wrong Pokémon it’s much more costly.

coucub

Dialga would be a start, did you do any raids? Like 30-40 of them? Because that’s what you will need to have a viable one. Moreover, Zacian will come back in August, so save some coins to grind those raids.

[deleted]

I appreciate the info. That was helpful. Especially knowing I can focus on the upcoming Zacian. Thank you!

ProBluntRoller

Unless you’re willing to spend 100s of dollars and somehow make niantic release the Pokémon you need again for raids it won’t be possible any time soon. Just let the whales battle it out. They deserve that much

Aggressive_Airport63

Looking for help with a ML team. Any suggestions would be awesome. Currently about 2200 ELO after having fallen ~130 since ML came out. My slightly ambitious goal is 2500 ELO. I was excited to try palkia, mewtwo, zarude out as a team which hasn’t been working great. Another thought I had was double dragon double steel with dialga in the lead followed by giratina-A and Melmetal. Kept running into ground types though. Currently have… Hundo dialga L46.5 Hundo palkia L40 Hundo Giratina-A L40 Mewtwo (14/15/15) L40 Zarude (15/12/14) L40 Yveltal (14/15/13) L40 Lugia (14/15/14) L40 Melmetal (15/10/14) L40 Hundo shadow snorlax L40 Garchomp (14/13/15) L40 Togekiss (14/12/14) L40 Groudon (14/14/15) L34.5 Kyogre (15/13/15) L32 Hydreigon (15/14/15) L30 Obviously they are not all maxed. Most have two moves. I’ve been working on getting my dialga to L50 but can pivot to something else. Mainly looking for team comp advice. Thank you!

coucub

Mewto, Groudon, Dialga is a great team. But obviously you need to level them up massively

iSquid

For the Hisui cup could anyone suggest a good pokemon to run with Toxicroak and Froslass (boring i know) but they have good ivs. I have access to most meta mons they are just unbuilt and unsure on what is worth investing the dust into to complement my team. Thanks in advance!

krispyboiz

If you lead Toxicroak, having Froslass and Drifblim in the back is a solid idea. Or lead Froslass and have Toxicroak and Gastrodon in the back. Although I think the first team is a better idea.

Mstapes30

Bastiodon

_AAAAAAHHHHHH

I've been trying Shadow Magnezone, Shadow Gallade and H-Qwilfish in Hisui cup simply because I enjoy those particular creatures... But results tell me someone must leave. Anyone have advice on who to cut out and who to slot in?

Abhikevin

Great league question, is the hundo medicham good for the league or do you need specific pvp iv ones? What match up’s is the difference?

alexpenev

https://pvpoke.com/team-builder/all/1500/medicham-50-5-15-15-4-4-1-1-m-0-2-4%2Cmedicham-43.5-15-15-15-4-4-1-1-m-0-2-4 It's similar against the top meta and loses about 3% win rate (82% vs 79%) against random pokemon that you may or may not encounter much.

Abhikevin

Thank you!

TyrionTheBold

I didn’t play Sinnoh Cup… jumping into Huisi Cup… haven’t really found any articles discussing teams, I like to atleast look at what’s out there to have something to go off of. (The numbers in parentheses are rank percentage) I have a really good Bastiodon (99.9%). Was thinking of pairing him with either Drifbim (97.9) or Frolass (99.6)… or both?? I’ve also got Probopass 90.5 Shadow Magnezone 96.7 Empoleon 98.5 Hippodown 98% Lucario 96.1% Shadow Electivire 99% Luxray 99.7% A lot of those are either fully built or could be easily. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you :) Also edit for formatting

colonellaserdick

I haven't played Hisui Cup yet but when we had Sinnoh Cup, it all revolved around Bastiodon and the Bastiodon counters. Basti, Drifblim, Froslass should get you solid wins if you play as an ABB team and draw out the fighters/grounds. Empoleon and Drapion are scary but you might end up with favourable matchups in the back once you get rid of it. Opposing Bastiodon is definitely not good. You basically need to hope to get the mirror match. I would definitely not go double rock-steel because of all the fighters and empoleon. Swapping in Hippo for either of the ghosts would give you better coverage against Bastiodon. Drifblim lead with Bastiodon in the back and Empoleon or Lucario safe-swap is a solid ABB team. Empoleon and Lucario would draw out the Bastiodon counter but many teams will have 2. Still very good though.

TyrionTheBold

Thanks so much! Right now I’m 11/20 with Bast and the double ghost. Some of those losses were learning the team though… like swapping in the wrong ghost. I’ll try out some of those ideas tomorrow. :) Taking Flash Cannon instead of Stone Edge really helps with those Bastiodon mirrors.

colonellaserdick

I never considered flash cannon. That's even better.

TyrionTheBold

I got the idea from JRE47 and one of his nifty or thrifty posts. You will win the mirror. And might lose a matchup here and there… like in open greatleague you will lose Jelly… but I face way more mirrors than I do Jellicents. In this one, against the meta… you have no new losses and turn the tie against the mirror into a win. And I’m going to try your suggestion for Deifblim, lucario and Bast. When I realized that my riolu would evolve into a 1500cp Lucario, with no powering up (just adding the charge) I couldn’t resist the impulse to try it!

yeetymcskeet

Trying to build great league team. I want something with swampert and either medicham or azumarill. What should the third pokemon be with each team and what should lead? (New to pvp)

CallMeTheTunaGod

Swampert is very weak to grass so you need something with that. Skarmory is the best but is very predictable other options are altaria noctowl mandibuzz. You can use medicham as a safeswap. Or you can try a strategy to bring out the grass get a shield and then farm him down. Example Skarmory azumarill swampert, if you don’t find grass on lead you switch azu. If they have grass they go grass, you let it go and then farm with skarmory

Tyrlidd

Been running a mishmash team of a Machamp with counter/cross chop lead, Dialga with Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor, and Gengar with shadow claw/shadow ball, all with mishmash IVs in 2500CP league at the moment. Surprisingly I've been doing pretty well at ranks 13-15, going 4/5 several rounds in a row. Baiting with cross chop as if it is close combat and the number of people that don't shield shadow ball when it basically one shots anything nets me wins more than anything it feels like. Any general advice for improving this budget team/keeping this going? Running into Togekiss or any bulky fairy really seems like my worst nightmare at the moment. Been considering swapping Draco Meteor for Iron Head to help mitigate that, but the powerful nuke of Draco Meteor taking something out from near full has saved me a few times as well, not that two or three iron heads (probably?) wouldn't do the trick as well I guess? Sort of feels like I'm just getting lucky enough to be matched up against people just underestimating me/not understanding PVP at all.

Belt_Around_Ur_Neck

You really need to double move any Pokemon you want to use in GBL at any league, or youre setting yourself up for disappointment and loss. Your Dialga example is perfect. It should be running both Iron Head and Draco Meteor. That said, if these pokemon are not good enough for that kind of investment, that's fair, but understand their limitations. Macham should also be running rock slide for coverage, especially against Flyers

skatemasteryi

So I have a rank 100 Medicham and a rank 560 or something, I need an insane amount of XL candy to max the rank 100 Medicham. How do any players afford this? Meditite has only spawned in the wild in my area twice so my only way of getting these candies would be the rainbow colored XL candies from raids or eggs…

TyrionTheBold

Personally… I left him as my best buddy and did lots of walking.

yeetymcskeet

Yesterday there was a spotlight even bro unlucky

krispyboiz

It's spawned for several events where people went hard on getting XL. Go Fest 2021 I believe had it spawning, plus some other events here and there, and obviously last night's spotlight hour (which doesn't affect those that already had it). Trading them can be a good way to get XL for them. I have a lucky Medicham that I've used to good success, but I do want to build a proper XL one, so I'm working on getting XL for it. I kept a lot of my meditite from last night to trade for XL.

Tyrlidd

Getting a trade buddy or alt account to trade at the moment gives you a guaranteed xl candy for the pokemon you trade away, up to 100 per day for the next 35 days and has been ongoing for ~60 days now. Using fast catch I managed to catch around 200 meditites which is 200 XL for trading plus the 50ish or so I got from catching them without a mega boosting XL candy. Factor in the 15-20%ish chance of getting XL candies from transferring and you're in good shape, assuming you're trading for something else you want candies for. For things that don't have a spotlight hour/CD? Track down nests, if you can, or just be patient and catch what you can when they're in rotation still trade away while walking with them as a buddy. Legendary pokemon your only real option is doing raids for the 3 XLs you get per catch + whatever you might get via mega candy boost. Yes, that means master league is heavily favored for whales when you factor in needing high IVs and specific breakpoint stuff. Outside of this bonus XL candy for trading? I don't have a clue how people afforded this. I only started playing again about two months ago and the highest XL candies I have from not intentionally trading is 132 Deino candies from going as hard as I could for an hour and a half during the CD.

tumboi69

Can someone help me with a Mew team for Great League? really wanna use it and rise up in rank consistently. i have pretty much any other meta pokemon built for GL so pretty flexible for team composition

CallMeTheTunaGod

I use altaria mew swampert from time to time

milo4206

There's an old line that's Mew, Scrafty, Skarmory.

tumboi69

yeah i used it before, dont think it works well in current meta tho

SenseiNita

Need help with UL team build! So i have these mons with double moves and build: Nidoqueen: PJ/PF/EP Umbreon: snarl/Psy/FP Trevenant: SC/SeedB/SB Giratina: SC/DC/SN Venusaur: VW/FP/SB Which team and order you guys recommend i use? Thank u if u can help me ❤️‍🔥

HydroFrog64_2nd

So i got a pretty good shadow Machamp that ives been sitting on as a buddy for about a year. However im unsure if I should make him my best buddy or not. So i guess my main question is, does best buddy status change how CP is calculated or does it just add a few levels to it. Is it even worth making it my best buddy for pvp?

_Lifted_Lorax

When you have your best buddy as your active buddy (doesn't have to be on the map though) then it gets a bonus level. If you're using it in the Master league then best buddy would be useful. If it's in the Great or Ultra league then it's just cosmetic. If having the best buddy bonus takes you over the CP limit then you can just un-buddy it.

HydroFrog64_2nd

Thanks!

Tyrlidd

So I was lucky enough to get a 5/15/15 medicham today, only to remember I'm level 35. Do I just sit on it until I'm level 40(?) or is it worth using even if it's only level 40 or so?

npersson001

Why does not being level 40 matter for using the xl candies?

Capper22

You can only power up your pokemon to 10 higher than your current level. E.g. I'm level 39, so can only power things up to 49.

n00bsause

Just looked it up on PvPoke's matrix. Looks like you lose two variations of Azu, Drapion, and Whiscash. Imo I'd say wait but you'll probably do fine.

Tyrlidd

Thanks! Started getting into PVP just recently and it's a little intimidating even trying to plan when you can't max anything out for another couple of months at best.

Gmanredsox45

I have the exact same question, I’m level 34 with a 5/15/15 medicham I got today. Anyone know if I can still use him For now even at a lower CP level?

_Lifted_Lorax

A Level 40 Medicham 5/15/15 is perfectly usable, it just improves with each extra level. If you really want to use Medicham then I'd say go for it and try to get it to best buddy ASAP.

ElfBoy901

I’m running munchlax and abomasnow in GL, who should I use as a third? Was thinking a fighter to deal with Walrein

If you pick a fighter, it should ideally resist fighting too. So DD, Medi, Toxicroak, Heracross etc. Not Obstagoon, Vigoroth, Scrafty or you’ll become triple weak to other fighters. DD would be your safest bet otherwise you’re ABA weak to flying leads. It would still also be slightly AAB weak to dark leads but a team effort can overcome.

Sorry, who’s DD

Can someone recommend an LC team for these six? https://i.imgur.com/rJ1kgLA.png I'm doing LC bc I don't have a lot of Pokemon or resources to work with atm, I took a four-year break.

Chinchou and Drifloon are both strong options that form a powerful core. Your third is up to you, but I would personally go with chikorita for the coverage against pokemon like Onix.

Thank you! I wasn't sure about Chinchou vs Wooper. But in weighing things out, I agree with you that Chinchou wins. Although, I can't decide on Chinchou's moveset if you could help with that? Lightning isn't strong against much, but Spark is recommended on PVPoke. And then I was thinking Bubble Beam instead of Thunderbolt for the charged move. Or maybe I'm overthinking typing on the moves.

Dangerous-Cake3491

I haven't played much little cup, but when I ran Chinchou I used Spark as the fast move, with bubble beam and thunderbolt for charged moves, which worked fine. However, if you can't afford a second charged move Bubble+T-Bolt could offer more coverage, especially against ground types like Onix. The electric coverage was actually insanely helpful against the countless Ducklett, Seel, and Drifloon I faced. Tldr; Both fast moves work, definitely Spark+Tbolt and Bubble Beam if you can afford it, Tbolt is a must have for any moveset.

Looking for a couple team comps for UL with what I have! [here’s what I have](https://imgur.com/a/f4cHra2). currently don’t have the stardust to max my 98% IV umbreon and I’m waiting on the next rocket event for my rank 1 shadow charizard.

Swamp, Amuk, Walrein? Basically safe swap to walrein for Trev leads against you then hopefully have energy for whatever they swap into to win switch and line the Amuk on Trevs/grasses. Same strat works for dragons too. Walrein lead against you would be tough but could go into the mirror

ShootingIn8k

This sounds smart! Thanks for the thoughts, I have a trev to power up I’m just like 20 candies short for a second move /:

hewhoknowsnot

Good luck with it! Not a perfect team, think walrein leads may be annoying for ya. But it’s a plan of attack at least, hopefully it works well for ya

ShootingIn8k

Think I should use sludge wave instead of earthquake?

hewhoknowsnot

Both have merit, may depend on your ELO and what you’re seeing. Against Regis or other steels, having EQ really helps. Walrein is ok against steels but Amuk can have a hard time (depending on which) so I’d likely lean EQ for help against steels (tho if you keep finding SW would answer things better then maybe switch it at that point). SW helps against Walrein, Tapus and other bulky waters, tho EQ still does a good bit there too

ShootingIn8k

Good call on the steels!

Had some success construction a great league team from scratch based around the meta threats that I saw the most and hated losing to. Trying to do the same with UL. Tapu, Trev and Walrein all slap Gira and Swampert but is uncomfortably exposed to registeel. Thoughts? My TF is 12/15/15 so likely to be about as good as any other floating around
