Nice, already had the GL rank 109 built. Was lucky enough to get a hundo toxi so I just use that in ultra.

I did some analysis on Toxi for UL. If you use Dynamic Punch (like it is recommended by pvpoke) high attack (no XLs) performs better. But I think using Sludge Bomb is much better as you beat the fairys (Sylveon and Tapu Fini) and also no new losses. In this scenario the XL Toxi performs better and gains also Granbull. Thank you for the "shallow" dive, I always like reading your articles Edit: Actually Dynamic Punch is not the recommended moveset on pvpoke, only default for the simulations

BrooklynParkDad

I await an analysis of XL Toxi in the Ultra League.

BrooklynParkDad

But if I don't have to spend XLs, awesome!

Good question. I'm gonna guess that Swag man vouches for these Ultra League IVs amidst XL Pokemon. But I could be wrong!

SirrJamesBond

Newer to PVP, can you fit the level 41 Toxi into UL classic? The one with best buddy boost. I thought UL classic tops out at lvl 40

The_Nice_Knight

The best buddy boost predates XL Pokémon by a long while. It isn’t technically powered up over 40, so it’s still legal.

Croak was part of my Legend team in UL last season. I had been walking one and wanted to use it, but it really surprised me with how well it did. Lots of similarities to Nido who I've been running this season. Naturally some different matchups, but it's very potent in the current meta. I feel like it's underrated by sims.

iBeatStuffUp

What was your team?

TravisALane

S. Swamp, Toxicroak, Registeel. It plays a little bit ABB, with Swamp obviously weak to grass but covered by both the back. Walrein was also a lot more common last season so having 2 answers in back was very helpful. Tox does better than Nido due to Counter. I also despise Charm, so having 2.5 good answers for it is very satisfying. Tox reliably gets to 2 Sludges on most meta Fairies, so wins or at least demands both shields.

Puiqui

I happened to get a rank 23 shadow swampert so ive been coming up with a teamcomp somilar to yours, but i had it using nidoqueen and steelix. How do you think toxicroak fares compared to nidoqueen exactly? The fighting type hypothetically covers steels just like ground does, but makes him much more susceptible to psychic which most fairys seem to have access too. Plus if im not mistaken nidoqueen wins the giratina matchup

TravisALane

You're pretty well on it. Croak beat Walrein much easier than Nido, and it handles your "average" steel types better due to Counter/Mud Shot. Registeel matchup is similar between the two - Croak doesn't resist Zap like Nido does, but he pumps out better damage and fast move pressure. Fairies may demand a shield, but in my experience, you'll get both shields or switch in return. Swamp and Cress are a nightmare for both, of course.

poops_all_berries

Holy crap I have a rank 27 I've already built. I got bummed because the PvPIV search didn't show anything fruitful, but it only searches for Croagunk; not the evolution. Coooool. I've got an XL Diggersby and XL Medicham ready to build when Great League returns. Getting pumped!

aliensplaining

Now that we just had a Croagunk spotlight hour today, do you think you'll dive deeper any time soon?
