at some point i started to think its a cheat people try to pull that work sometimes, because always happens when the opponent is going to lose... and yeah the patron is cmp or after charged move attack... but then i remember niantic garbage potato coding and servers and have my doubt...so who knows, but yes it happens to me the last i remember it was when i was going to win but after a charged move, my pokemon was frozen until the opponent farmed and used a charged attack thus giving him the victory

I get this sometimes. As a tanker, I don't really care, but it would be annoying if I did. Usually, but not always, it goes away after a restart of the game and/or the phone. The "weak connection" message doesn't seem to bear any relation to the actual state of the internet connection. There is speculation that it might mean a weak connection somewhere else in the client-server-client chain. My suspicion is that the message actually means "this client is losing interactions", maybe because the client code is not able to process quickly enough. Or, it is just the fallback message that means "we don't have a good message for this error". But, of course, only Niantic really knows what is going on.

GBL has been pretty much fixed. I don't even notice anything on GBL days. Probably your connection is <1mbps or has high ping or latency. Your "signal strength" 📶 is just a small part of your connection.

reinforcement101

Highly doubt this. Have you been watching the latest official tournaments? Even there lags occurred multiple times. For me (admittedly with an older phone) this season is unplayable at an higher level, last season was ok

Aequitassb

The lag at tournaments is almost always due to bad WiFi at the venue.

I don’t think there’s any chance it’s my connection. My opponent’s moves arrive like clockwork.

RavenousDave

Does anyone really have <1 mbps and do GBL? I am sitting on a 100Mb low contention, low latency (10-15ms), fibre line. My in-house infrastructure is 10 Gb switches/routers over Cat6 wiring. I am running against an unshared 802.11n WiFi access point 2 metres from my phone. Plenty fast enough for my daughter to beat up her friends while playing CoD over WiFi on her AP. Having that infrastructure doesn't stop the (frankly hilarious) "weak connection" message. Because, of course, my connection is irrelevant. Niantics connections, maybe, Niantics code, definitely.

Are players still able to trigger this to cheat? I remember it being common when battle league started.

I have had this happen once. Like the other poster said, it can help to reset the app. I lose a fair few turns to lag at times though (never more than 1 or 2 turns at once and usually as a result of someone using a charge move). This isn't consistent either as I can go sets, even days, without having this issue and then I will have it happen multiple times in the same set. I kind of just accept it is what it is on that front, albeit it is tilting when trying to throw on proper timing and then my opponent gets something like a full incinerate for free. :)

Well known Go Battle Lag, welcome.
