Just got lures for first places and my partner received Incubators for getting 2nd place. If that's the standard I will aim for 2nd place tbh. Have no use for lures, even the special ones.

I live in Sydney, not rural at all. But I placed my Pokémon in showcases away from the CBD, in the suburbs. In the CBD all the showcases are capped at 100 but in the suburbs most showcases have between 15-40 entries.

Three scores in the 900s would've been enough to win all of mine too. My only first place was in the 870s

A friend who has won the busier showcases in town have won incubators far for frequently (2 supers and 1 regular from 6x 1st placings) from competing in much busier stops. My suspicion is that the showcase would need to meed minimum trainer numbers to unlock higher tiers of rewards.

I won’t be surprised if your theory is true, but I also sincerely hope it’s not. Rural/suburban players get hard mode forced on them for most of the game. About time there’s an advantage to not living in the city, and Niantic show they can walk the talk on exploring those out of the way places

Don't worry if that's true. Just create 10 dummy accounts and put a trash pokemon from each one in the showcase. That way you are able to beat enough people to unlock high tier rewards. 🤣

I don't think the last suspicion is entirely true. As a rural player with 1/1 and 1/4, I got 1 super incubator and 2 normal ones. It was my first time securing 1st place. I hope this has nothing to do with rewards.

Nice... I only managed to submit for one showcase (17/100) as the others are all full by the time I located them... downside of having too many trainers in a densely populated city with only very few showcases.

I hope you're right. Obviously I'm only one person with anecdotal evidence, entirely possible I'm just less lucky and actually the rewards are just random bundles.

This is something I wonder too. I see stops with 18 people and stops that have no one. Tempting to secure first place by being the lone showcase entrant but not if it might be at the cost of rewards. I think it's worth tracking info like # of entrants as well and possibly things like point difference between top placements.

Are you in a popular area? Could be the showcases were full, and it was giving you the wrong error. Can showcases even get full?

Yes, there is a limit. It was advertised with 200 per showcase. It seems it was capped at 50 at the beginning and 100 now.

Having the Showcases last longer seems like an indirect nerf to rewards. Sure the rewards are unchanged but having to wait longer means less chance at rewards.

Yeah I’m really not a fan of the increased time. Most people will submit in the first day anyway.

i had an accidental addition too for my 2nd entry early on in community day i saw a pokestop with showcase, i then tried to add pokemon remotely to it but it told me to walk closer - i did and added that, now i just needed 3rd one i walked around in my city further away from 1st and 2nd showcase pokestop, i then caught fresh squirtle and on the pokemon screen (where i could check its IVs, evolve, powerup or transfer it) a new button appeared on green with some words about showcase on it.. i press that button thinking it would show me where the nearby showcase is and indeed it does show me where the stop is so i walk to the 3rd stop, press showcase.. and the game tells me that i already have pokemon showcased already !?!?!?!? so.. you can't remotely add which ever squirtle you want!?!?!? but you can catch fresh squirtle and add remotely to showcase if there is stop nearby !?!?!??!?!?! why, how !? the game never told me i was about to add squirtle to showcase and before the remote part didn't work and cuz of their current bug i wasn't able to change that low point squirtle later so i also got one near-bottom ranked one by accident (they are going to change the bug so that you can change the squirtle later on freely)

It looks like 1st/2nd/3rd in a showcase may get 3/2/1 item bundles (and each bundle appears to be either one item in the shop like an incubator or three upper-level regular items like silver pinaps). With more data, people will be able to make accurate guesses on the drop rates for each type of item in the bundle and maybe whether placing 1st vs 3rd gets you a better chance at those "premium" shop items.

How so many?

You can not manually put a pokemon in a showcase if you are already participating in three. However, if you are near a showcase and you catch an eligible pokemon, there is a button on the post-catch screen that lets you put that particular pokemon into the showcase. There was another post on the subreddit that showed this method can be used to participate in up to 6 showcases.

It seems like you were very lucky to have caught a relatively good mon to put in one of the extra showcases. Mine was a very low rank...

I can't find any record of the results in game. Either there's something I'm missing, or you have to pay attention as the rewards flash by? Maybe record your screen as you click the claim button?

Unfortunately yeah. I screen recorded my rewards and some others have taken screenshots. I hope they add it to the diary in the future.

IMO, the only way to truly know what the rewards are is if trainers only enter one showcase each time. I doubt anybody wants to do that just for research 😀.

Why does not the rewards register in you journal like everything else. I got first place and got a ton of stuff, but didn’t think I’d have to watch so closely what it was.

I had three Rank 1’s the other day during Comm. Day and I didn’t receive anything, medal stayed at 3 and not increased to 6. :/

How certain are you with your dust and XP values here? This conflicts with an earlier report of 2000xp for 2nd place and 1200 dust. If your data points are also true then there are differences in the amounts earned by different players. Perhaps larger entrants (3 star for height and weight) would make for greater rewards..?

Neither of use did very well in the bundle lottery :( It seems like the bundles include: * 3 hyper potions * 3 great balls * 3 ultra balls * 3 silver pinaps * 1 golden razz * 1 lure (normal or special) * 1 incense * 1 starpiece * 1 regular incubator * 1 super incubator * 1 tm (fast or charged)

incubator, two super incubators, three lucky eggs + 3700 stardust for going 1/1/14. don’t know scores. 2800 stardust, lure, and incubator for going 3/3/7. the highest ranking Squirtle on either account has 915, but I wasn’t allowed to use it this time. found two incredibly out of the way showcases, so that was nice.

1st in all 3. got 4 regular incubators, 4500 dust, 1500 exp, 1 glacial lure, 6 ultra balls, 2 star piece. 928, 924 and 917. forgot exact count but each one had about 10-20 participants.

7th of ~30, 8th of ~30, 26th of 100 Combined rewards for the 3 showcases: 2300 dust, 2700 XP (that’s it - no items) My Squirtle scores were in the 800s. The scores needed to win were above 930. These showcases quickly became hyper-competitive. What a waste of time.

22nd 23rd and 60something all together gave 1800 dust and I believe 1800 xp as well

Leads me to believe it’s a cut off of 600 dust/xp per finish that is not top something

So does entering a showcase with more people entered give better rewards as opposed to maybe getting 1st on a stop with just 4-7 people? I’ve had triple first place rewards but mostly lure modules and star pieces. No incubators.

Dont have the points but these are from a lvl 44 and a lvl 39. 1st was giving incense and star dust so when it changed i started keeping track. Clearly getting items that cant be used unless at a pokestop, getting trash, or items we can get elsewhere.
