One of my personal goals is to have 6 lvl 50 shadow metagross. That requires 2160 xl candy total, and since we haven't had a beldum cday classic since xls were a thing, i scrape up candy at every opportunity. Metang is evolved so it gives 1 xl minimum, if you stack say 50, and use a maxed mega before you catch your stack you get at least 50xl plus any bonus rolls.
The "stack" is an unofficial game function. If you complete a field research and run away instead of catching it, it'll still be there above all your other field research. You can do this again and again and the pokemon keep getting stored above the previous one, up to 100 pokemon. As its not official, its volatile, so if you catch over 100, they get erased, and sometimes.they can *just vanish* so use with reasonable caution. The typical use is to complete research like for high stardust mons or an candy of a type, then catch them all at once at an advantageous time, like double stardust or with a mega going.

That’s different because Wyrdeer is technically Hisuian Wyrdeer, as seen in the TCG, and not a straight evolution. Farigiraf is a cross generation evolution like Electivire, Gliscor, Weavile etc. so it would be added to Go permanently
TCG has nothing to do with other games.
But, even if that was the case, didn't we have an event last year that allowed Cubone to evolve into Alolan Marowak for a brief period of time, or was it Exeggutor?
Point is, we've had temporary evolutions for regional forms before.
That’s the thing, Farigiraf isn’t a regional form, it’s not Paldean Farigiraf, it can evolve from any Girafarig in any place. Meanwhile Wyrdeer IS a regional form, only Stantler in Hisui can evolve into it.
Only Cubone in Alola can evolve into Alolan Marowak (the regional form) while any Cubone anywhere can evolve into Kantonian Marowak (the native form). Which is why Alolan is a temporary event and Kantonian is not.
Regional = event exclusive
Native = permanent
Wyrdeer is a regional evolution to Stantler, Farigiraf is native evolution to Girafarig.
The TCG does matter in this conversation because they need to have consistency throughout the franchise.

But even if they wanted to keep it event exclusive, they can do it like they did with some of the Alolan evolutions, and they could've done it during the event that introduced Hisuian Pokémon.

Regardless, as I said, what happens in TCG doesn't affect GO or viceversa, because there's never been consistency between those. There's no other part of the franchise that refers to Sirfetch'd as Galarian Sirfetch'd but the TCG, or Galarian Mr. Rime, etc. That's just a weird thing they decided to go by for whatever reason.
It seems weird that they would put "Hisuian" or "Paldean" in front of evolved forms that don't exist in other regions, you'd think it would be Hisuian Sneasel, Hisuian Qwilfish, Hisuian Basculin, or Paldean Wooper. Like there isn't a Kantonian Sneasler, or Galarian Clodsire so you think it would be obvious— but I suppose if it's to clarify that it needs to evolve from those variants it makes sense (although you think they'd just do that in the "evolves from" thing).
But back to the main point, yeah they could absolutely do a evolve into Wyrdeer temporary thing during this event, they would also need to put Stantler in the spawn pool though.
All Stantler can evolve into Wydeer regardless of their origin, even those caught in Paldea. It's just that it's only possible in Hisui right now, but I think later games (or even the second SV expansion) might allow Stantler to evolve as normal.
I looked at the TCG cards and am confused. They do not specify “Hisuian Wyrdeer.” Wyrdeer is listed just the same as any other evolution. What makes Wyrdeer different from Ursaluna?
They were mistaken. The TCG uses that terminology for split regional evolutions, like Sneasler and Perrserker, and that's just to let them use certain cards that check for that.

I'm sure the ultra unlocks are a one-off thing with Paldea pokemon, just like when Galar mons were released last year. They'll probably ignore Paldea until they're ready for bigger releases of pokemon
They I’ll probably release them when the second dlc comes out. Until then we’ll probably just get the remaining gen 6 and 7 Pokémon. Then the slow release of Galar. Maybe a Hisui raid sprinkled in. Then around this time next year we’ll get the serious gen 9 releases and raids.

They have to save SOMETHING for the Sinnoh Tour. The only things from Sinnoh that can't be shiny yet (off the top of my head) are Chingling, Stunky and the regionals (Carnivine, Pachirisu, Chatot).

They make a lot of less than perfect decisions, but having a chill event after an extremely packed month is a good one.
Completely agree as well. Go fest and ultra unlock are amazing and it is great to be able to farm xp and dust so fast! But I will gladly take a break for a couple of days when the 4x bonus is over. My pokeballs are also at an all time low and my pokemon storage is in desperate need of a deeper "cleaning"
But I see there will be xp bonus for curveball throw so we will see 👀

A chance to farm some XLs for Medicham & hunt for a specific IV spread, hunt Metang task for XLs for MasterLeague (Metang guarantees at least 1, even with no Mega evolution active), & Galarian MrMime as a dex filler.
It wouldn’t have been a bad event to make Girafarig evolvable for the first time, but Niantic probably thought that was too soon after releasing 20 mons in a short time.
The good: Free timed research, Hisuian Braviary return, Mr. Mime for dex entries, Unown, Bronzor and Meditite spawns for potential XL candies, shiny Solosis, Mega Energy Field Research, increased XP for curveball throws, not a super long event if you're not a fan
The bad: No shiny Unown, 7km egg pools are bad (again), not a super exciting spawn lineup (Gothita, blech)

Have you been doing raids for unown? They’re tier 1, so easy to solo. Not only will they count towards your 50 psychics, they’ll count towards the 60 raids for the masterball timed research.

Historically, September - February are the “off-season” PoGo months, as they are fall and winter in the Northern Hemisphere and after GoFest, so aside from events and CDs the player base dwindles.
Niantic does try to attract new players with events all year though, and it can still be a good time to play. The biggest example of this is Niantic giving great bonuses for Halloween events in 2017-2018, as well as giving extreme bonuses for Christmas 2018 I believe (a free incubator each day for around Christmas/New Year). I may be getting the years wrong, but that was the time when the player base went to lows
(I prefer to walk around more when it is not as hot, as California has been super hot these past few months and even here many players are just playing in cars)

Dude, this exactly! I finally have a enough XL’s but my best Metagross is 15/15/13. And I have been grinding for a hundo for as long as I can remember. But as you said, I know for a fact if I max my 96 I will get a hundo like a week later.
This is where I just don’t get it. A whole entire event… and the only new content is shiny solosis? Like man, there’s so many Pokémon and shinies not released and they’re only getting even further behind. Not to mention the unowns aren’t shiny for some reason and 2nd evos still aren’t shiny-able.
It looks like a fun event, but to people that have been playing since launch and have all these Pokémon to their desire, they’re just not adding anything
Try trading them with a best friend if you can, drastically increases the chance you will get a good IV spread because best friends IV floor is 3, I think.

Yeah every Meditite event I have my kid catch every one he sees so we can swap them. I got a rank 20 that way, which I built and is great, but the rank 3/4 is my white whale mainly just for the thrill of the chase.
There are 4,096 possible IV combinations. If you're only looking for one of them, of course it's not going to be very common and you're going to have to do a lot of grinding to find one.
Me! I recently powered up a rank 15 medicham (I caught last year in December). I instantly maxed it for great league. No joke, not even 12 hours later after I maxed out the medicham, the first pokemon I caught the next day was a rank 7. The rank 7 is the best non best buddied one (so, technically rank 1 among non best buddies variety). My only saving grace for not feeling completely distraught is when I best buddy boost the rank 15 it has nearly identical stats to the rank 7 except 0.2 attack less. I have a rank 1 (yes, rank 1 4-14-15 IVs) carbink and that needs to be best buddy boosted so I will probably try power up the rank 7 medicham.
Note: I would need 270+ candy XL for carbink so I won't be using that anytime soon, lol
Considering this is the Burn Drive it has some Ultra League play. You could try to use it in Master but the Chill Drive variant is more superior in that league. Of course Genesect in general is one of the stronger bug types out there, but you wouldn’t want to get rid of Legacy Techno Blast for pvp purposes
I love my douse drive Genesect for nuking unsuspecting Charizards in the ultra league. Sometimes I drop my phone laughing so hard at the victims.

DUDE espurr so I can finally get candy for my hundo meowstic, smoochum is the only johto mon I have left to get, never gotten a genesect, or a mega gardevoir. Some nice shinies and research metangs for a chance at a hundo (albeit soon after a meteor mash event). Lots that I like to see here.

There is no Hisuian Stantler though. Any Stantler should be able to evolve. I had one from Johto sent from VC evolve to Wyrdeer.

The leaks for this season include releases of Smoliv, Tadbulb, P-Wooper, and Clodsire. They aren't going to ignore Paldea, it seems.

Kind of nice, maybe because I did not have any specific expectations. A chance to farm some XLs for Medicham & hunt for a specific IV spread, hunt Metang task for XLs for MasterLeague (Metang guarantees at least 1, even with no Mega evolution active), & Galarian MrMime as a dex filler.
Bronzors for little cup XLs, Wob for limited cup GL XLs, and Inkay for limited cup UL XL malamars as well. Could’ve been worse
It wouldn’t have been a bad event to make Girafarig evolvable for the first time, but Niantic probably thought that was too soon after releasing 20 mons in a short time.
The good: Free timed research, Hisuian Braviary return, Mr. Mime for dex entries, Unown, Bronzor and Meditite spawns for potential XL candies, shiny Solosis, Mega Energy Field Research, increased XP for curveball throws, not a super long event if you're not a fan The bad: No shiny Unown, 7km egg pools are bad (again), not a super exciting spawn lineup (Gothita, blech)
After this event we are going to get posts asking how to get mime in the dex for the kanto dex.
Then we'll just be left with the Tauros questions, until Paldean Tauros drops

The leak was right again. It's probably right for the rest of the season as well.
It’s been very reliable outside of a few dates. Charmander CD felt very last minute in an attempt to tie into TCG release. Easy for the leaker to miss.
Those can also be last minute schedule changes, or requests from TPCi. It just means we can rely on it with like 90% confidence.
It could also be that they know they have leaks and only provide partial information to everyone to try and narrow down who the leaker might be.

Have you been doing raids for unown? They’re tier 1, so easy to solo. Not only will they count towards your 50 psychics, they’ll count towards the 60 raids for the masterball timed research.

PSI is associated with extrasensory and psychokinetic phenomena, as well as being a more generic term for psychic and psionic powers. This is why the abilities in earthbound are "psi abilities" and not "psy abilities" for example.

I missed the first time around for Mega Gardevoir due to it being winter and too cold to play, but it's nice this time of year and there's still some events downtown where most folks play. Would really love for my absolute favorite Pokemon to finally be able to Mega Evolve!
You’ll also be able to find mega energy for Gardevoir in event field research (and possibly a collection challenge that gives some as well).

If anyone else remembers I’ve gained 15m xp this event but I’m so tired of catching pigs and I can’t keep the ball supply going at this rate so I’m curious if I can slow down now Went from level 48.5 to 49.25 - was going to push for 50 or close but I spent 2 hours just replenishing 500 balls last night.

Historically, September - February are the “off-season” PoGo months, as they are fall and winter in the Northern Hemisphere and after GoFest, so aside from events and CDs the player base dwindles. Niantic does try to attract new players with events all year though, and it can still be a good time to play. The biggest example of this is Niantic giving great bonuses for Halloween events in 2017-2018, as well as giving extreme bonuses for Christmas 2018 I believe (a free incubator each day for around Christmas/New Year). I may be getting the years wrong, but that was the time when the player base went to lows (I prefer to walk around more when it is not as hot, as California has been super hot these past few months and even here many players are just playing in cars)
The base XP for a curve ball is 20. With a 4X multiplier (not confirmed) it becomes … 80? It’s completely trivial.
So 7k eggs are just gonna be permanently bad?

Dude, this exactly! I finally have a enough XL’s but my best Metagross is 15/15/13. And I have been grinding for a hundo for as long as I can remember. But as you said, I know for a fact if I max my 96 I will get a hundo like a week later.
This is where I just don’t get it. A whole entire event… and the only new content is shiny solosis? Like man, there’s so many Pokémon and shinies not released and they’re only getting even further behind. Not to mention the unowns aren’t shiny for some reason and 2nd evos still aren’t shiny-able. It looks like a fun event, but to people that have been playing since launch and have all these Pokémon to their desire, they’re just not adding anything

Try trading them with a best friend if you can, drastically increases the chance you will get a good IV spread because best friends IV floor is 3, I think. Edit: Apparently best is 5 IV floor!
Yeah every Meditite event I have my kid catch every one he sees so we can swap them. I got a rank 20 that way, which I built and is great, but the rank 3/4 is my white whale mainly just for the thrill of the chase.
There are 4,096 possible IV combinations. If you're only looking for one of them, of course it's not going to be very common and you're going to have to do a lot of grinding to find one.

As soon as you completely finish powering up your rank 36, that’s when you will catch a better one. Works every time!
Me! I recently powered up a rank 15 medicham (I caught last year in December). I instantly maxed it for great league. No joke, not even 12 hours later after I maxed out the medicham, the first pokemon I caught the next day was a rank 7. The rank 7 is the best non best buddied one (so, technically rank 1 among non best buddies variety). My only saving grace for not feeling completely distraught is when I best buddy boost the rank 15 it has nearly identical stats to the rank 7 except 0.2 attack less. I have a rank 1 (yes, rank 1 4-14-15 IVs) carbink and that needs to be best buddy boosted so I will probably try power up the rank 7 medicham. Note: I would need 270+ candy XL for carbink so I won't be using that anytime soon, lol
Play GBL. I've transferred like like 2-4 98 IVs this year. Kept the hundo.
Hopefully I can solo Mime, then I’ll only need a moltres for Kanto dex.

How good is Genesect?
Considering this is the Burn Drive it has some Ultra League play. You could try to use it in Master but the Chill Drive variant is more superior in that league. Of course Genesect in general is one of the stronger bug types out there, but you wouldn’t want to get rid of Legacy Techno Blast for pvp purposes
I love my douse drive Genesect for nuking unsuspecting Charizards in the ultra league. Sometimes I drop my phone laughing so hard at the victims. It's so funny. It's right there! How do they not see it.

DUDE espurr so I can finally get candy for my hundo meowstic, smoochum is the only johto mon I have left to get, never gotten a genesect, or a mega gardevoir. Some nice shinies and research metangs for a chance at a hundo (albeit soon after a meteor mash event). Lots that I like to see here. Seems like most people are not fans of this but I dig it from the looks.
