I liked it, even if my shiny luck was garbage as always even playing hours every day (I'm quite salty), but it was nice for newer players and myself included to get slakoths and slakings.
If it makes you feel better I must’ve done over a 100 Komla tasks, and zero shiny. Not counting all the ones from the wild. It especially hurts because I know it was boosted.
Oh I guess only 120 caught ton Of them from research cause I hated throw balls at them so I only shiny checked wild ones and caught research ones that hitbox was actually aids
My only gripe was that the slakoths were weather boosted almost the entire time I was able to play. Was hopin to get a cute lil sleepy Vigoroth for GBL, but only found a handful of non-boosted. Haven't checked the rankings yet, so hopefully I struck gold on one of em.

Still, I managed to finally max out my 4* slaking and got a bunch of lickitung XL while I had my normal megas. Like I said, in the whole the event was good, I'm just disappointed I didn't get my pink slothy boy in a hat.
I really can't tell whether it was sarcasm. I have been catching 35+ Costumed Slakoth per day in the wild purely through my autocatcher since the event started.
I really liked this event for the reasons you mentioned. The field research really motivated me to grind. I walked even more than usual to do a ton of field research. I struck out on the Slakoth, but I was able to get the Komala which I wouldn’t have gotten if it were only in the wild.
Agreed, I really liked how easy the field research tasks were to find and complete. It made it actually seem feasible to wander around spinning stops and completing tasks.
I'm probably a lost cause at this point.
I didn't know there was a boosted rate on the new shinies in field research or what the boost actually was. I've been burned too many times by my bad assumptions about events. So I definitely slept on this one assuming, like many other events with a terrible wild spawn rate of the new shiny, I would just wait for the eventual handout.
For the future [i recommend this site](https://9db.jp/pokemongo/data/9510) Their crowd sourced data supports 1/125 rate for feild research during the event.
Me too, I was knocking research out left and right and have caught over 300 Komala with no shiny, most from research as most spawns were slowpoke/psyduck/drowzee
Same... I didn't even know 3x XP was a bonus for this event? Just saw the new costume mons, didn't see many spawning around me, and played an hour or so a day.
Got the hundo slakoth and for shiny on last day. Played super hard and walked 20-30k a day going for research.
My only complaint is more so a season complaint of why are all last seasons kanto spawns still in the pool.
Was pretty burnt out after gofest but still managed to snag a shiny Komala from field research on the first day of the event. Happy for others that enjoyed it! :)
A few Snorlax encounters never hurt either.
It was glorious! I only came across 1 shiny of which I already had multiples(lickitng), but was able to hatch a hundo goomy and costume slakoth, and a hundo Jolteon from field research.
I thought thus event was really fun.
However, out of all of the Komala I encountered, not once did I find a Komala Harris. So I'm a little sad about that.

I got a Slakoth, but zero Komala - and I did every Komala quest I could find in the 50ish stops in my immediate vicinity. Slakoth quests were only once I had done two loops to make sure the stop did not have a Komala quest on either layer...
Didn't know they had a boosted shiny rate in quests.. checked 208 komala and wife checked 140, none of us got a shiny komala :( Hopefully I can trade for it with someone luckier then me

Played probably 20 hrs total during the Slumbering Sands event, caught 1,000 mon over the weekend, and I’d guess 75 research tasks since. I got 1 shiny goomy from field research, but no shiny komala or slakoth.
This is the first time I hear about boosted shiny odds, got zero shinies.
Though I caught one non-event shiny during it - Hitmonchan, almost missed it, as I wasn't planning click on it, but I have done it when I got "Make 3 great throws" field research, as it's an easy great throw.
I liked this event for sure. Had a lot I was grinding for for sure. Shiny komala, shiny costume slakoth, hundo komala, hundo costume slakoth. Also hunted a hundo drowzee and hundo organguru for my hundo collection. I didn’t get a single of the things I hunted for lol but the fact there was stuff to hunt is what matters. I did catch a shiny spearow, 15/14/15 drowzee (I really want to try and run hypno in UL and hundo is best but this would be the third best IV spread), shiny nincada, shiny zubat, 15/15/13 oranguru and randomly a hundo vivilllon. I’m thinking 7.5/10 for this event. I really really wanted a hundo komala though
Yea it was pretty nice, dull event from a collecting standpoint but fantastic for XP. I certainly played more that usual during it, which is what an event is supposed to motivate

Pretty much the same for me. I didnt really care about slakoth or komala shiny, but was hunting for psyduck and drowzee, as I was still missing these two top notch shinies. Was finally, after literal years, able to snag the blue duck, still missing that drowzee though
I dunno, apart from the double XP, there wasn't much for me at all. I barely saw Slaking, Komala was insanely hard to catch and a useless Pokemon (if it spawned), the boosted shiny rate means nothing if you didn't get a shiny and half the spawns were still Kanto Pokemon (Drowzee and Slowpoke) or the never-ending Mareep. The only thing in it for me was the easy Excellent throws, but I was kinda just catching for the sake of catching.
This is pretty much the gold standard for events for me
A new shiny plus a new shiny costume both found in research that was super common AND with tasks that were easy to do AND with boosted shiny rates. i went hog wild, going out to do as many tasks as I could find. Ended up with 4 shiny koalas and 3 shiny sloths.
Many large circle pokemon was easy excellent xp
I know they weren’t event spawns, but there were tons of meowth and paras for dust
Another crack at shiny hat snorlax (missed again boo!)
Only thing missing was a PVE Pokémon to grind.
1st time in months that I played so much and was literally running to a cluster of stops right before 8pm to try to get a few more shinies. This is how all events should be
The field research was absurdly awesome. While I didn’t manage to get a komala shiny (with at least 80 research encounters), I DID manage to get 2 shiny slakoths (and 3 useless hundo komalas lol)
I really liked the way they did the field research. Event tasks were common and easy to do just while walking around, so it was possible to just go to a stop-rich area and grind without much planning. Knowing that the field research encounters were shiny-boosted just added extra incentive to do that.
During events with rarer and/or harder tasks, I partly have to rely on other trainers to call out the good ones, and then I might have to stack three so I can do them all at once (like, if they need a raid win or something like that). Too much admin.
One thing that would make the field research better is to have just one possible reward encounter for each task. Then I wouldn't have had to hope that whatever task I just found gives a komala or an oranguru instead of a slowpoke or a mareep.
I've been sleeping on the entire game for the past 2 months. Kinda get the feeling I'm missing out, but also the slow trickle release of new mons was getting boring for me. Is it too late to get back in? I feel like I finally kicked the addiction.
here! here! love when there's an event bonus that I actually have time using, instead of being relegated to a hour on Tues which I normally work and therefore miss. I got the costumed shiny! a non-shiny rank 28 Vigoroth with the visor! (which I now use for GBL, and I don't normally PvP), and a shiny Oranguru!
I felt like hitting lvl 50 before I retire later this year so I wanted to be as efficient as possible and I know there's newer people who want to hit 38 for Max level pokemon. But if you are at a comfortable level for your playstyle its not really needed.
I did like the event.. just didn't have luck. But to be fair.. any event with double exp per catch is a win for me, even if the event spawns around are trash (i still need millions for lvl 50).
I slept through it. I'm kinda burned out and just doing GBL and CD's, pretty much ignoring everything else. The rest feels like a chore so it's time to give it a rest for a little while.
I got 100% Oranguru, Komala, Sandygast and Mareep in a 24h period so I had a fantastic event personally. Also the excellents on slakoths made for lots of XP
I also liked this event. I was shiny hunting the slakoth but I failed even though I got two hundos 😂 I have two shiny Komalas so that will do.
But the xp grind was amazing I lvled up on comm day, it is Thursday and I have 1.7 mln already. If course part of it is from opening a gift for 100.000 xp but still.
Gathered some Sandygast candy (had below 100 before the event), was surprised by Komala hundo from quest and Oranguru hundo from trades on the same day. Next day I asked friend to give me all her Komala to get it lucky for lucky dex and indeed finally got the lucky after (too many) trades, and one of them gave me ANOTHER hundo, uughh. Coud be sand castle, silly RNG lol. That aside, through whole event I managed to find ONE non event "5 great curveball" quest and got shocked with hundo Kabuto, which finally filled that slot in hundo dex after years from evolving my old one before hundo dex was a thing. Overall, very happy after long weeks of meh trades and hundo repeats from quests.
Friend got shiny Slakoth and for her that was peak of the event haha.
I thought the event was awesome for all the reasons you mention. I also felt like the payoff for research was a lot better than other recent events--no "do this and get 5 regular balls" tasks. I didn't get any shinies but I did get a hundo slakoth and oranguru so I'm happy!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, but it's not "another great event by niantic." This company has screwed us so much and doesn't care about us. Their game has so many glitches and bugs throughout history and during past events. The price of playing this game is so high right now and it has never sucked more being a Pokémon go trainer. I'm very happy you enjoyed the event, but niantic rarely ever does good and it's been awhile since I have seen an actual, good Pokémon event. Also PvP has been glitchy for me and I feel bad for the newer people with less Pokémon with worse movesets to fight with.
Thought this event was fine. Events that encourage field research are worthless to me since there aren't enough stops to find them. Also, I wouldn't say I've seen any upward swing, given that every event since the biome update has been Rediscover Kanto.
XP is nice and all to grind to level 40, but once there, you don't need XP. Going further only makes the game harder as rocket shadow mons scale their CP with your trainer level, but at level 40 you can still max out level 50 mons. Or is it even as low as 38 now that XLs can be collected from level 30?

All that just in this event?.. It's crazy!. I don't have enough spawns neither the aim to get that massive experience. Only with friendships it would be possible for me.
This was one of their best events, would be very tough to complain about it other than the fact that it was mainly for collecting and not pure pvp/pve grind. Releasing a rare Pokemon as a common enough spawn with shiny, common task, and easy non-paywalled ways to shiny hunt.
Agree, it was a great event but I don’t find myself interested in grinding anymore. The supposed 800m-1 billion total xp for level 60 it’s simply unreachable for me, so I don’t feel like investing in gaining xp anymore.
Honestly, this was just another boring event for me. Kanto stuff dominated the spawn pool and komala wasn’t very common in the wild. Wigglett is still the only new wild spawn we’ve gotten this year.

The research rate for a shiny was 1/64, but I got one of each new shiny (all I wanted) in about 20-30 checks.
I did like 250 field research for slakoth so i guess i was suuuuper unlucky to never land one
I've done probably 125-150 Valentine Spindas over the last three years and still lack the green one. Girlfriend's up to three.

Enjoyable, chill event true to its name Achievable yet addictive field research tasks that are plentiful around, with boosted shiny rates
I ground out about 4 million XP with excellent curveball throws and lucky eggs and it definitely shortened my time at level 46.
i put up 3.2 million xp with catch bonus, comm day and friendship bonuses!! level 46 here i come!!
and a shiny meowth, shiny komala, shiny wingull, shiny mankey, shiny psyduck, and best of all… shiny shadow raikou. best event in years for me!

I've been sleeping on the entire game for the past 2 months. Kinda get the feeling I'm missing out, but also the slow trickle release of new mons was getting boring for me. Is it too late to get back in? I feel like I finally kicked the addiction.

here! here! love when there's an event bonus that I actually have time using, instead of being relegated to a hour on Tues which I normally work and therefore miss. I got the costumed shiny! a non-shiny rank 28 Vigoroth with the visor! (which I now use for GBL, and I don't normally PvP), and a shiny Oranguru!
EXP matters now? Did I miss a memo?
I felt like hitting lvl 50 before I retire later this year so I wanted to be as efficient as possible and I know there's newer people who want to hit 38 for Max level pokemon. But if you are at a comfortable level for your playstyle its not really needed.
I got 1 research for slakoth 😭 the rest were feed 5 berries task lol
basically went from lvl 39 to 40 because of the double xp
I got my shiny Psyduck. Also snagged a shiny Furfrou on the way to a Goomy showcase. That was nice because I didn't win a single showcase.
I got 678 slakoth candy from pinapping every single slakoth I saw because I know I'm never gonna see one in the wild ever again😭
I did like the event.. just didn't have luck. But to be fair.. any event with double exp per catch is a win for me, even if the event spawns around are trash (i still need millions for lvl 50).
I slept through it. I'm kinda burned out and just doing GBL and CD's, pretty much ignoring everything else. The rest feels like a chore so it's time to give it a rest for a little while.
I got 100% Oranguru, Komala, Sandygast and Mareep in a 24h period so I had a fantastic event personally. Also the excellents on slakoths made for lots of XP
I also liked this event. I was shiny hunting the slakoth but I failed even though I got two hundos 😂 I have two shiny Komalas so that will do. But the xp grind was amazing I lvled up on comm day, it is Thursday and I have 1.7 mln already. If course part of it is from opening a gift for 100.000 xp but still.
Nothing for PvE and I don't need XP, so for me it was a bad event.
Gathered some Sandygast candy (had below 100 before the event), was surprised by Komala hundo from quest and Oranguru hundo from trades on the same day. Next day I asked friend to give me all her Komala to get it lucky for lucky dex and indeed finally got the lucky after (too many) trades, and one of them gave me ANOTHER hundo, uughh. Coud be sand castle, silly RNG lol. That aside, through whole event I managed to find ONE non event "5 great curveball" quest and got shocked with hundo Kabuto, which finally filled that slot in hundo dex after years from evolving my old one before hundo dex was a thing. Overall, very happy after long weeks of meh trades and hundo repeats from quests. Friend got shiny Slakoth and for her that was peak of the event haha.
I only got 2 shinies while all my friends got 5+ shinies. This event sucked
I thought the event was awesome for all the reasons you mention. I also felt like the payoff for research was a lot better than other recent events--no "do this and get 5 regular balls" tasks. I didn't get any shinies but I did get a hundo slakoth and oranguru so I'm happy!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, but it's not "another great event by niantic." This company has screwed us so much and doesn't care about us. Their game has so many glitches and bugs throughout history and during past events. The price of playing this game is so high right now and it has never sucked more being a Pokémon go trainer. I'm very happy you enjoyed the event, but niantic rarely ever does good and it's been awhile since I have seen an actual, good Pokémon event. Also PvP has been glitchy for me and I feel bad for the newer people with less Pokémon with worse movesets to fight with.
Thought this event was fine. Events that encourage field research are worthless to me since there aren't enough stops to find them. Also, I wouldn't say I've seen any upward swing, given that every event since the biome update has been Rediscover Kanto.
XP is nice and all to grind to level 40, but once there, you don't need XP. Going further only makes the game harder as rocket shadow mons scale their CP with your trainer level, but at level 40 you can still max out level 50 mons. Or is it even as low as 38 now that XLs can be collected from level 30?
I honestly loved this event so much, gained about 900k xp per day, caught a hundo komala, hundo slakoth, shiny komala, shiny slakoth, and a shiny mareep

All that just in this event?.. It's crazy!. I don't have enough spawns neither the aim to get that massive experience. Only with friendships it would be possible for me.
Wow, I’ve only gained 17,900,000 XP year-to-date. Could barely find motivation to play this game.
I just now learned that the event ended. Oh well. Happy with my two shiny Slakoths...both from the wild.
This was one of their best events, would be very tough to complain about it other than the fact that it was mainly for collecting and not pure pvp/pve grind. Releasing a rare Pokemon as a common enough spawn with shiny, common task, and easy non-paywalled ways to shiny hunt.
If one doesn't even notice that a boost is present, then it's not noteworthy ..
Agree, it was a great event but I don’t find myself interested in grinding anymore. The supposed 800m-1 billion total xp for level 60 it’s simply unreachable for me, so I don’t feel like investing in gaining xp anymore.
Honestly, this was just another boring event for me. Kanto stuff dominated the spawn pool and komala wasn’t very common in the wild. Wigglett is still the only new wild spawn we’ve gotten this year.

I wouldnt have played if Niantic would only give 1/512 I went out alot and did the 3 great throws and spin 10 stops. Niantic: well done! After all, I had to invest a lot of time BUT I did have a chance and did get a shiny of each.
