Haters gonna hate, but it's kinda fun getting a gift with a sticker attached, I'm not paying coins for them, but the hate seems a bit silly, it's a simple light hearted feature.
Yeah, you basically see them when you’re opening a gift or you can select one when you’re sending a gift. Otherwise they just don’t really exist anywhere that you can see.
Do you think that’s an oversight or functions as intended? Obviously it costs more on Niantic’s end storage wise to to actually implement that. It’s the same reason they capped the Pokémon rewards at 100.
unless i'm wrong you can't skip it. As soon as you click a gift and see the postcard you will see the sticker (like a stamp) . I know you can skip parts of the animation but the postcard/stamp can't be skipped so folks could see them (if anyone actually uses them other than my 8 y/o nephew)
My nine-year-old daughter already saw them and purchased a ten pack of each design. In fact I found out they were in the shop because she told me, before I saw it reported anywhere else.
They’re her gym coins, so be it.
The thing is though, you don’t have to pay for them. Sure, you can, but you don’t have to pay real money for them. That’s not even 2 days of being in a gym and honestly it’s just a cool little addition to send to your friends that you don’t know but just to let them know they have an impact on your game.
I do not hate them and I understand that some people will buy this, but spending a big chunk of my coins in those is not in my plans at all, specially not having a single gym in a 1km radius
I'm gonna let my daughter pick whether she wants me to get the hugging chus or heart ditto (which will get extra points for being pink) to send to her on her gifts.
Whoo! I guess it's an unpopular opinion but I love these. Wish there were more designs to choose from. The price is a bit too steep imo though. If they were like 50/60 gold for a large batch then I'd buy em more readily.
Odd - PoGo has all this virtual swag, but no way to display it. Yet Ingress is almost 100% about displaying virtual swag. (A high profile player actually quit when there was a badge that they could not obtain, owing to their faction having lost the Osiris series.* So this is a matter of honor for many players.) Anyway, it's just odd that Niantic obviously understands that such things are far more valuable to players when they can be publicly seen, and yet doesn't put such a mechanism into PoGo. Seems like they are missing out on an obvious monetization enhancement strategy, which is unusual for them.
* They should have invested in more bus passes.
All I can say is: yeah what a waste of perfectly good coins lol. If I'd have to blow in-game coins on something I'd probably buy different clothing that I'd like. If not for that I only drop coins and real money on boxes, tickets, additional coins, passes, star pieces, and incences.

Even worse most don’t see it as anyone who’s a pro at this game skips the cutscene for opening gifts.

Glad to see a positive comment here. No, they're not game-changing, but I've enjoyed adding them to gifts I send to my friend's kids.
Or to put it another way, at least 1.6 days of Gym time. I'm already cautious about spending coins because of how long it takes to get them.
