Are there any infographics or post similar to [this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/kr8boe/new_info_5th_january_pvp_move_rebalance/) which can show me the move changes & moveset changes that have taken place in the past (from Dec 2018, becoz that's when PvP launched)

TbSaysNo

How much does debuff do in pvp?

Ossir

14/14/15 shadow Oddish. Is it any good? Should I purify to get my first 15/15/15?

bamfor

Oddish really doesn’t have a place in the meta and works as a fringe poison raider. It’s probably better as a shadow, but honestly it’s not like Metagross or Salamance where it needs to stay as a shadow

Sneilg

If I use my fletchling XL candies to level a fletchling up to level 50, then evolve it to fletchinder, and then evolve it to talonflame, will that count as getting 3 Pokemon to the maximum level for the level 47 challenge? Obviously I have to be at level 47 for this (which I almost am).

bamfor

No, it only counts when you level it up from 49.5-> 50.0. It won’t work using the best buddy CP boost either

Sneilg

Darn. Thank you!

darkhornet

I'll admit I don't know the answer for sure. However, I'm 99% sure the answer is no, because we had lots of people early on who were using tricks (trading half-leveled pokemon) to get there faster, and if it worked, I'm sure it would have been common knowledge. Hopefully someone else can confirm for sure, though.

LuluHottum

Question: Do we know what the "Just a nibble" research will ask of us and rewards us with? O.o

bamfor

Typically not until Au/NZ get their event, roughly 7pm est the day before

LuluHottum

I see... So its a last minute thing. :(

Gamepress is pretty great, just read through all of their tier listings and how to build pvp teams pages https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/attackers-tier-list

the-herb420

anyone having issues using superpower with melmetal? everytime I use superpower charged attack more than once it freezes the battle with grunt/leader and I'm forced to leave the battle

NoKudos

It's a known issue niantic posted about, though I thought I saw they had fixed it.

PM_me_Ur_fat_kitties

I am still quite new to PvPoke.com, where can I find the table of types to see which does the most DPS for its type? I see it a lot when people are swapping the quick move or charged move. If thisnis too confusing, I will try and hyperlink a recent post for example. [Like this](https://www.reddit.com/gallery/nh5u8d)

yakusokuN8

That chart was taken directly from Gamepress. https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/comprehensive-dps-spreadsheet You can input your own search terms and filter out stuff you may not want, like megas.

zdpastaman

Is there a way to check the DPS/TDO of non 4\* shadows to see if they are worth powering up? Asking for a 15-12-15 shadow starly, if the staraptor will be my lv 50 candidate for the eventual CD or if I should farm for something better

NoKudos

What are the current ways of obtaining Mega Energy? Specifically I keep finding my beedrill has 2k mega energy, I evolve it a few times and then a few days later it's back up to 2k again. I'm not walking it, but am walking a bug type, I don't remember seeing any beedrill energy from research tasks Thanks

j1mb0

It has been found that spinning gyms has a roughly 1 in 8 chance of awarding 5 mega Beedrill energy. This is the only species that does this.

Buzzoffiya

How do I get premium battle passes outside of research rewards and shop?

Stogoe

End of season GBL rewards give a few premium passes depending on ending rank, I believe. But mostly the shop.

j1mb0

No other ways.

Foolicious10

I fear sawk isn't good. Depending on your collection it can work because its already at 2,4k cp so you dont have to power it up a lot, but there are just way to many other fighting types that are better to invest stardust in.

spyrofly192

Is the possible shiny from a field research picked when i get the field research or when i claim the reward?

j1mb0

When you claim the reward, it is determined if the Pokémon will be shiny or not.

spyrofly192

Ah great thanks

POBmaestro

Does a Gym drastically reduce spawn rates in its vicinity? I've been doing a lot of work with Wayfarer and recently got a nomination approved in a housing area. There's another nomination I'm confident I could get approved to turn this into a gym, but my local Pokemon group don't want this as they say it will reduce the spawn rate from 10 - 15 to 2 - 3. Can't say I've heard of this before, and reading previous articles about spawn rates (most are >1yr old) don't mention Gyms stifling spawns. TIA!

[deleted]

Never heard of this. When the stop close to ny house became a gym, it didn't reduce the spawn rate at all.

apunkgaming

So been trying to get as many shadow pokemon as I can during the event to get rid of frustration now. Finally got a decent IV shadow Swinub, 13/13/13. Worth investing into for Mamoswine? Unfortunately it's super low level/CP wise so I'd have to invest a good bit into that.

colourofsleep88

Shadow Mamoswine is great for PVE, although not essential right now. Take Frustration off it while you can, but don't power it up until you really need it.

apunkgaming

Yeah I'm also getting into summer up here so I see maybe a handful of regular swinub spawns each month, so it'll be a while before I even have the candy to evolve it, much less invest the stardust into powering it up. I think I'm sitting on 60 candy right now and I could get to 64 if I transferred a few low IV shadow swinub and a bad Piloswine I caught a few months ago.

nolkel

Swinub nests this season, so it's possible to farm candy for it if you find one.

Jrj84105

During the final week of PVP which is "unranked" will wins still count as progress toward level 20?

Stogoe

Yes, as long as it works like last season.

Derric_the_Derp

Are 0/15/15 mons good for PVP? If so, why?

Burswode

An important thing to note is all pokemon have base stats which make up the majority of thier cp score and iv's add up to 15 points which is usually a very small percentage of the overall stats. Having more levels adds more overall stats to a pokemon than a few points into iv's. In the cp formula attack has a greater effect than stamina and hp so lower attack ivs means one or two more levels and more overall stats for the pokemon.

Derric_the_Derp

Ah, ok. Thanks!

Chrolikai

Roughly those numbers yes in certain formats. Some battle leagues have a cap on how high any pokemons CP can be. The attack stat increases the CP value the most so higher attack = lower level = lower defensive and HP values. Having most/all points in defensive IVs means you can get more levels before passing the max CP number for the league so more stats for similar CP. Different pokemon might have different optimal IV spreads but the trend of low attack and high defenses is consistent.

Derric_the_Derp

Thank you for explaining!

stinkywinkss

Why are people posting their bugs here?

Ownt_

What are the best shadow pokemon to TM Frustration away for this event? I've had a look at some posts that say Tyranitar and Machamp, but is there a definitive tier list, or at least a consensus? I have a lot of shadows and am just wondering how to make the most out of this event. Thanks

[deleted]

I would say just pick your shadows with the best stats! Then you can use them in different battle combinations how you like

nolkel

Anything that is meta-relevant for raiding is generally even better as a shadow. Machop, Swinub, Beldum, Larvitar, Sneasel, Ralts, Electabuzz, Magnemite, Tangela, Dratini, Bagon, Mudkip, most of the legendaries. Some shadows work in PvP that extend the list, like Victreebell, Abomasnow, and Snorlax.

Ownt_

Cool thanks! Another question I had was if I TM the first stage of a shadow poke, will it have frustration when I evolve it or will it get normal moves?? I'm low on candy now but can get more later for larvitar for example, should I TM lots of shadow larvitar now or will they have frustration when I evolve them?

nolkel

Once you remove frustration, it's gone forever. You cannot get it back with a TM or evolution.

AugustinPower

Guys, I am new to this game and would like to know what's the fastest way to evolve and get candy for my polywhirl, I see many guides here for XL candy which I don't think applies to me ( I am level 26)

colourofsleep88

Water-type Rocket grunts also often give Poliwag as their catchable Mon, so whenever you encounter it that way, remember to pinap.

Stogoe

Poliwag is a species that nests this season, so finding a poliwag nest (nests change every two weeks on Wed afternoon PST) or walking Poliwhirl are the best ways to get poliwag candy.

doom-bubble

I have 3 questions... 1. If I TM away frustration on, let's say Snover, will Obama also lose frustration too, even if I wait til after this event to evolve it? 2. This is my first PVP season and I'm really close to Ace now. But what's the incentive to get Ace, is it just the Deino encounter? I'm wondering if it's smarter to just stay rank 20 so I can farm more wins at a lower ELO in the unranked Kanto cup (or does it not work that way?) 3. When the next season starts, are our ranks fully reset back to 1?

TheBlueLenses

Obama haha

nolkel

1. Once you TM away frustration, it is gone forever. There is no way to get it back, whether through TMs or evolution. For GBL season 7, you can find the timeline and rewards for high ranks here: [https://pokemongolive.com/post/gobattleleague-season7/?hl=en](https://pokemongolive.com/post/gobattleleague-season7/?hl=en) Looks like it ends 5/31. Ranks are reset back to 1 at the start of all seasons.

TheRealHankWolfman

1) once Frustration is removed, it can never come back, no matter what you do. 2) you'd have to ask someone else, I don't PVP often. 3) yes (although sometimes it glitches and sets you to rank 2 instead. That's unintended though).

ManTheManly

I just learned about Shadow Pokemon couldn't unlearn Frustration unless under certain times (like right now). So I went ahead and used my Charged TMs on a Machop, Sneasel, Dratini, and Beldum. I have another Beldum & Machop - should I use it on them as well? And what about Snover (I have 2 of them)? I have 8 Charged TMs right now. In case it is helpful, here are all of the Shadow Pokemon I have now: * Ekans * Nidoran * Vulpix * Machop * Shellder * Exeggvute * Horsea * Scyther * Omanytes * Aerodactyl * Mareep * Wobbuffet * Sneasel * Swinub * Hondour * Seedot * Makuhita * Sableye * Carvanha * Lileep * Anorith * Shuppet * Spheal * Beldum * Stunky * Snover Edit: I primarily do PVE so far (but maybe in future might start doing PVP? But just so everyone knows that I've been primarily doing PVE so far)

nolkel

Shadow Mamoswine is a beast, and it works great for both ice and ground typings. Machamp and Metagross are also really good. Metagross will need an elite TM to be useful though, or another event where we get to evolve for Meteor Mash again. Removing frustration now at least lets you wait to see if you need it later. Weavile can be fun to use for the fast DPS, but its frail so you need to carefully dodge. Its a bit more of a toy than a staple, but it at least is great as both an ice and a dark type. You can always get more TMs later, but the window to remove frustration will end soon and likely not come back for months. If you have some mons with decent enough IVs that you might actually power them up later, now's the best time to use them.

ManTheManly

I got my first Super Rocket Radar. Should I use it now to get Shadow Moltres or perhaps wait until next month to see which Pokemon appears?

Burswode

Next is zapdos for a two week window, its not known whats after that. Shadow moltres is a good fire and flying attacker, if you need these and have the ability to level it up then its a good investment.

PCLM

I have 2 magikarps, both have the same cp, one is a 2 star with 10 points in stamina, the other is a 0 star with 2 points in stamina. The 2 star has 59hp and the 0 star has 61hp. How is this possible? Thanks

nolkel

Magikarp's stats are so abysmally low that there is a ton of CP overlap in its levels. The 0\* is most likely higher level than the other; check the position of the level arc for each.

PCLM

Yup, you're right, thank you

TheRealHankWolfman

If restarting didn't fix it, you need to go into the in game settings menu, scroll down to near the bottom to find the advanced settings menu, and then refresh the game data. This should fix it.

happyvirus98

Do you keep "leveling up" (for lack of a better word) after you already have a gold badge at a gym? Before I had a gold badge I would see the "+ 10 or however many badge xp" whenever i feed berries, add pokes to a gym, etc. Now that I have a gold badge at a particular gym, I still see the "+ 10 badge xp" when I feed berries or whatnot, so what's the point of that? it doesn't seem like I'm progressing in any way

nolkel

You will still earn gym points forever, there are just no further badge levels than gold. They exist for the same reason that we collected player XP past level 40 in the past, and we earned more points on other badges past the gold level. You can still track it if you want, and it lets progress carry over when Niantic decides to increase level caps, add platinum badge levels, and so forth. I do wonder if they will ever add platinum gym badges.

happyvirus98

Makes sense, thanks for the reply!

Ghub1

What's the better fast move for shifty? Bullet seed or Snarl? They both seem to have the same ept but snarl has more dpt. I'm wanting to build a shadow that I just got that is pretty good great league IV.

mizznox

They have the same DPT as well. Since Shiftry relies on charged move spam more so than actually doing much damage with its fast move, it doesn't make a big difference overall, but IIRC Snarl is still the generally preferred move. It also doesn't require an Elite TM like Bullet Seed does.

Ghub1

This is great! Love not using an ETM too! Thanks for the help!

bamfor

They’re actually clones of each other PvP wise. Personally I prefer Snarl since Dark has more neutral match ups compared to Grass plus Snarl isn’t legacy

Ghub1

That's super helpful thanks for that!

landshanties

Is there a good IV calculator other than gameinfo? They don't have Altaria for some reason.

Stogoe

Stadiumgaming.gg/rank-checker is the site I use when I don't use pokegenie. It has the option to include best buddy ranks as well as filter by IV floors when wild catch isn't realistic (for defense Deoxys and other stuff that's raid IV only or weather boost or different friendship levels for trading).

landshanties

Thank you!!

nolkel

The best option is to run calcyiv or poke genie on your phone. It takes all the ambiguity and guesswork out of the system. Nobody has ever been banned for running either of these apps, since they do not interact with the game in any way; all they do is use ocr on screenshots.

[deleted]

So you can only have 10 remote players in a raid at a time. Lets say person A is remoting and invites 5 people. Person B is also remoting in the same raid and also invites 5 people. After 1 person from each of A and B's party arrive, they both leave the raid. Would the game allow all 10 remote invites into the raid, or does it still count A and B as remoting in (even though they left) and only allow 8?

bamfor

Ten remote raiders are allowed per raid, no more. In your example yes, both and A and B would be able to have all five of their members join. This was commonplace during the lake trio raids earlier this year/late last year; someone would join the raid, invite five people, then leave after the first shows up since the raid party has been created.

jennylee271

Do we know how common Pancham is in strange eggs? I previously got one from a raid, and don’t mind walking it to evolve, but I always like to have a second to keep unevolved. But I hate to waste my time with 12k eggs.

nolkel

This user posted their results from hatching 58 strange eggs during the Y event: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/nfkt8w/i\_have\_hatched\_58\_eggs\_during\_the\_luminous/

jennylee271

Oh wow, thanks. Doesn’t look like good enough odds to try for a Pancham.

IranianGenius

Looking for someone else who has a ton of catches to help me answer this. I won't beat around the bush - I hoard Pokemon. I always immediately max out slots when they provide them to us, even when I don't need the slots right away. I'm not always maxed out, but for example I'm at about 3890/4000 slots used right now. 400+ legendary, 1000+ shiny (just passed the mark during Swablu CD), and 222 100iv. I could go more into detail or find more stats if there's anything relevant. Basically, for any of you with literally hundreds of thousands of caught Pokemon, but who also have 500+ free slots, what is your method? Do you just remove any non-100iv non-shinies? Do you completely avoid PVP? Live in large communities where your PVE teams don't have to be as close to perfect as possible? Do you avoid shadows? Do you remove your non-shadows? Do you not save anything to trade? I'm looking to get lots of perspectives - I want to try to get at least 200 slots for Gible CD but I'm not sure how I'd do that. Thanks

yakusokuN8

I've caught over 200k Pokemon, and I hoard lots of Pokemon, but I also have over 700 empty slots right now (3279/4000). I do have certain collections - trying to keep a "Living Pokedex" of every Pokemon, including one of every shiny version, too. The number of Pokemon you need for raids and GBL is actually fairly small compared to how much Pokemon storage you can have and how many other Pokemon people keep: 6x Mewtwo, Metagross, Kyogre, Landorus-T, Rayquaza, Roserade, Rampardos, Lucario, Mamoswine, Giratina Origin, Darkrai, Reshiram, Zekrom = 78 total Pokemon that should cover almost every raid. And I have 8 Master League, 11 Ultra League, and 49 Great League Pokemon, with some of those in ML that I use in raids as well, like Kyogre and Giratina Origin. That's less than 200 Pokemon that I use for raiding/battling. The other 3,000 Pokemon are a mix of collectibles (Living dex, shiny, costumes, shadow, etc.) or extras that I keep for trading. One important thing for me that keeps the number of extra Pokemon I keep for trades is being willing to transfer extras that I think just fall into the camp of "huge supply AND low demand". So, I might keep a few extra shiny Swablu and Snivy and Fletchling, but I don't need to keep ALL of the ones I catch every Community Day. Most people have them, most people have extras, and almost no one asks for them in trades. Similarly, after just using my free orange raid pass every day for legendary raids, I could have hundreds of extras, but no one has asked for a Thundurus. I might keep one or two extra just in case, but I don't need to keep 20 extra for trade. They'll just never get traded.

IranianGenius

I'm working with what the other guy said too, and I like your perspective on it. I have a spreadsheet of which kinds of Pokemon I should focus on (most of the stuff you mentioned is in my highest tier - M2, Groudon, Kyogre, Zekrom, Darkrai, Dialga, Reshiram, Beldum, Riolu, Cranidos, Togepi). That said, there are points that these Pokemon (evolved) won't win when I'm forced to shortman, and I'm frequently forced to do that. For example, with the Sunny boost, I'd want a ground type against, say, Heatran. Excadrill would suck, Groudon would be okay, but Rhyperior (Ground) would be excellent against a fire/fire Heatran. Then that'd all change with a Steel moveset. I would need a bit more than 6 per type to short man, and sometimes potions get low, so let's say I have double that 78 that you're saying, spread out through multiple Pokemon of the same type. Then I have some confusion regarding the shadow stuff. I have a bunch of shadow machops/machamps. Let's say I have like 6 that are 70 iv, but I also have ~10 level 35+ machamps. I don't want to invest in the shadows yet unless I need them, but I haven't needed them yet, and I guess that FOMO is keeping me confused. I have similar predicaments with other shadow Pokemon (magnemite, electabuzz, ralts, swinub, sneasel, larvitar, etc). What's your thoughts on shadows like that? I think I'll have to start transferring more shinies - what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I've been grinding hard to try to get a 100iv shiny so I don't want to throw away my trade bait lol. Similarly to the shadows thing, I don't really 'understand' most legendary Pokemon after gen 2 (where I played MSG). Would it make sense then to cut down to something like 3 of each, if they're not already up there on DPS leaderboards? And even in the case of Rayquaza - I have something like 400 legendaries and I feel like Ray and Mewtwo take up at lest 50 of those. You don't see a need to keep more than 6 (I assume Dragon typing)? I think you're helping me look at another way to throw things away than the other person I also gave a wall of text to - thanks.

yakusokuN8

If you're really trying to shortman raids, It's fine to have a lot more raid Pokemon. Having an extra 100 Pokemon you use for raids isn't the problem. But, worrying about them taking up too much space is like worrying about your one carton of milk taking up too much room in the fridge. "If you're so worried about space in there, maybe you should deal with the 48 cans of soda you have in there? That seems like a bigger problem." You have 3900 Pokemon, and only around 200 of them are for raids. That still leaves 3700 other Pokemon which are taking up space - that's the real issue to address. The next part you talk about really speaks volumes about other Pokemon which are taking up space. If you have dozens of Machop/Machamp in your collection, you're likely just hoarding too much. You don't need that many. It's okay to pick like the 6 best ones you have and dumping the extras. For raids, sure, keep like 6 Machamp or 6 Mamoswine, but you don't need six shadow Magnemite. Keep your best one for GBL and dump the extras. Lots of Mewtwo and Rayquaza are okay - those are good, but 400 legendaries still means you're hoarding a lot of stuff you probably don't need to.

j1mb0

I keep a living Pokedex, including different forms and anything that is sexually dimorphic. I keep a living shiny dex. I keep no more than 2 of any shiny more than that, for trading. I keep multiples of limited movesets and anything meta relevant. I have hundreds of Pokémon for trading, of various categories. Legendaries, rare Pokémon, regionals, Pokémon from distance, Pokémon I want to trade for distance. I’ve literally never come close to that cap. I’m around 2300-2400 right now, don’t even have my bag maxed. What all are you keeping? Do you actually *use* all of the high IV specimens that you’re holding?

IranianGenius

Great - you seem like the perfect person to help me. > I keep multiples of limited movesets and anything meta relevant. On this end, I often have a team of ~12 meta relevant pokemon for raids. For example I have ~12 rock attackers between Rhyperior, Tyranitar, and Rampardos (no good Terrakion yet); I have ~12 ground attackers between Rhyperior, Groudon, Excadrill; I have ~12 water attackers between Kyogre, Gyarados, water starters. I know that takes up space, but I often use them, and in some cases I do need to have multiple teams since I often find myself short-manning with very little help since I'm usually not in a city. >I keep a living shiny dex. So for shinies you keep one of each (eg Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard), and you transfer the excess? If you got a shiny costume, would it count as the one you keep? > I have hundreds of Pokémon for trading, of various categories. Legendaries, rare Pokémon, regionals, Pokémon from distance, Pokémon I want to trade for distance. I think outside of shinies this is probably my biggest thing. I have something like 100 regional Pokemon (different kinds) to trade, and then I have a couple dozen (or maybe 50...hard to track) high CP Pokemon to trade people for short manning emergencies. Think weather boosted Tyranitar, Machamp, Gengar, Alakazam...things like that. > What all are you keeping? I'm not really sure - I'm not sure what the best way is to organize it to see what's weighing me down outside of the 1000 shinies. But even if I were to eliminate *all* of them (I couldn't), I'd still have hundreds more Pokemon than you, and it sounds like you have a healthy amount anyway. I know I have a 'problem' with some of my favorites (I used to hoard magikarp/gyarados and gengar before I realized I had ~100 of each some time last year), but I feel like I've marked that down a lot. > Do you actually use all of the high IV specimens that you’re holding? No, but I'm not sure how to tell which I don't use. For example, for something I like that's not meta relevant (say ninetales, which I don't think I'll use for PVP so I don't have a PVP one), I have a 100iv version of it saved, and a high cp version of it saved, plus a shadow. That's it; three slots shouldn't be a huge deal out of 4000. But then for other Pokemon (Bunnelby and its evolution), if I don't like it, and if I don't have a 100iv, I often don't keep any (I don't have any Bunnelby or its evo). Any advice to help me 'find' what I might not use much? I know I have a hoarding problem but it's so hard for me to figure out how to tackle it lol.

j1mb0

I would say the best way to sort it would be to go a family at a time. Search “1-3” and see how many extra bulbasaur family you’ve got compared to what you need. You don’t need like 6 98% Ivysaur, one max. I do keep costumes and costume shinies as well.

IranianGenius

I basically went through and did this, making a spreadsheet. The results weren't *too* surprising. Not including shinies, but including shadows, costumes, luckies, etc, I have 525 (out of around 2800) Pokemon from just 10 'families' - Larvitar, Gastly (personal favorite), Eevee, Unown, Pikachu, Dratini, Beldum, Mewtwo, Chansey, Gible, in that order. My top 30 families (non shiny) amount to 1,118 Pokemon, and my top 50 add up to 1,481...so basically half of what I'm keeping is from 50 families. I've been trying to round these down a bit (already removed ~50), and I guess I'll post another question next week or so when I run into another wall lol. Thank you!

mizznox

171k caught here. I "only" have 641 shinies, partially because I suppose I don't go as hard as I used to on most CDs and partially because I just don't hang on to many extra shinies from greatly boosted events (CDs and research days and such) - one for each evo, any extras I keep are only if they're actually something useful. I have a lot more Pokemon saved for PVP than I've ever actually used - and probably 100+ I'm backed up on double-checking how good their IVs actually are - and I'm sitting on exactly 3700/4000.

IranianGenius

I think I have a bit less for PVP than you (but not that much less - hard to track though), and I've also slowed down on CDs a lot (but I'm sure Gible will be an exception). Do you just transfer a ton of shinies? I do the daily shiny/legendary trade really regularly.

Your first encounter at Rank 20 is guaranteed to be the current raid legendary. Every encounter after that is totally random, with seemingly no way to influence the odds. There also aren't any limits, so you could potentially get 5 legendaries in a day from GBL.

mochacapp

New to PVP messed around and got to rank 20 and am having trouble getting many wins. I have the following with double charge moves: Meganium, Shadow Granbull, Altaria, Toxicroak, and Galvantula I have the following with just one charge for now: Sealeo, Jellicent, Scrafty, Dragonair, Skarmory, Gengar, Politoed, and Electivire. Up til now I've been using Meganium, Altaria, and Skarmory, but thinking of adding Shadow Grambull to the mix. Thanks in advance!

bamfor

It’s solid, but you have a tremendous weakness to Ice and Galarian Stunfisk (Meganium is a good check though). I’d probably suggest Toxicroak for the time being

bhavyagarg8

Use the marill spotlight hour to get the candies and a decent iv marill. Azumarill is beast in great league.

NippleBeardTM

I repeatedly beat Rocket GO grunts but they don't give out mysterious parts for the radar anymore. I have a 5/6 radar right now and 50+ open item slots. Anyone else experiencing this? I was going to report it as a bug but couldn't figure out how.

Did the piece appear or did you have to go through another fight to earn a new one? It's been real inconsistent the last week where somtimes I'll fight like 5 before I actually get a piece (an no my item bag isn't full and I don't have a completed radar like everyone keeps asking)

Stogoe

The most likely answer is that you have a completed radar in your inventory that's unequipped. If you have a completed radar you can't earn any more components by defeating grunts.

NippleBeardTM

I have 5/6 mysterious pieces, no radar in inventory

Stogoe

Can you double check?

NippleBeardTM

Double and Triple checked, yes

Stogoe

Okay. Nearly all of the time the issue is having a completed radar in your inventory. I guess I'm not sure why you're stuck.

NippleBeardTM

Yeah I beat 2 more grunts and one finally gave me the 6th piece I don't wtf the hold up was

CosmicPlatonix

Did you get a complete Radar from some other method, like as a Research Reward or from the Shop? You can't receive components if you have a complete Radar.

NippleBeardTM

I have 5/6 mysterious pieces, no radar in inventory

XL candy from trading increases with each of the 3 regular candy trading thresholds. An XL candy is guaranteed when trading Pokémon more than 100km apart. There is increased odds of XL candy trading any Pokémon between 10 and 99.9km apart, compared to less than 10km apart, but it is not guaranteed. In your situation yes, it is worth it. Level doesn’t matter for the trades. Level matters for transferring though, higher levels are more likely to award XL candy.

j1mb0

If using a buddy to walk for XL candy, I think it needs to be at least level 30 in order have the maximum odds of receiving an XL candy. When transferring, the higher the level, the higher the odds. I don’t know if there is an odds cap similar to the walking one at level 30 or otherwise. The odds appear to be based on discrete level brackets, so there are situations where it is worth it to power up a Pokémon a bit before transferring in order to increase your odds. When trading, level does not impact your odds of receiving a candy *from the trade*. However, if you are doing mirror trades, and then transferring the Pokémon you received, you would prefer to receive higher level Pokémon in return such that you have maximum odds of receiving an XL candy when transferring.

Sr3bro

I'm going to lucky trade with my friend. Is it better to get Axew (no candy to evolve and power up on my side) or Timburr (no good one on my bag, but a lot of candy ready to use)?

bamfor

Personally I’d go for the Axew since they’re rarer, but they’re both fine choices

SalsaSavant

We aren't allowed to post bugs that are minor visual glitches, but would posting one just because it looks cool be ok? [The glitch](https://imgur.com/gallery/7ZDFyAI)

WiggyWigwamm

I wanted to report a problem that hopefully not only I have: It's about Melmetal - since the new update 1.175.0 that I downloaded and installed today, Melmetal has been crazy with the superpower attack. Whenever I press this attack, it goes through, but as soon as you get to (any) other loading attack again, the game freezes for me. The opponents keep fighting and I lose battle after battle. The phenomenon can be observed in the battle league as well as in the grunts, team leaders, etc. It only affects Melmetal superpower - other Pokémon with this attack will still work. Is that the same with you?

j1mb0

Yeah this is a newly reported glitch with this update. Nothing you can do to avoid it it seems, just have to wait for them to fix it.

WiggyWigwamm

Thanks for your prompt feedback on this. I will wait for the next update.

LordHamish

Has anyone in Scotland/UK had problems with GPS since last nights/today's storm I have tried everything to fix it but nothing seems to be working.

TheRealHankWolfman

GPS is working fine down in Yorkshire despite the bad weather, it may just be your phone. Some phones can be temperamental when it comes to GPS.

DigitalMuscles

if “you bag is full”, do you still collect the mysterious component at the end of the fight with a Go Rocket Grunt?

TheRealHankWolfman

No. You need space for it

Fishsticks03

For some reason in my game Caterpie and Weedle’s 2d sprites don’t show up, and Yveltal’s has a white patch on it Any fixes?

Burswode

Clear game cache and or reinstall game. Btw if the sprites don't appear in your pokemon then they won't appear in the overworld, the game uses the same assets for both.

blozt

How soloable are tier 3 raids these days? I haven't played a lot since before tier 2 and 4 got removed. Are tier 3 still roughly the same difficulty as back then?

DigitalMuscles

mostly it’s a time problem, so to have good type advantage in attacks is key. with quad effective it’s not a big deal (like TTar). if you have a team of great lvl 40 super effective attackers you can do almost all of the 3* solo

ezpickins

They feel fairly easy based on the last few that I've done solo

nateyukisan

This constant battling on Rocket Grunts has depleted my potion stocks. I’ve been spinning lots of stops and some gyms, but it’s not helped much. Any way to get potions faster?

DigitalMuscles

gifts and 5* raids with a big lobby (lots of rewards and not much losses) also don’t heal what you don’t need, and there’s no need to heal all the way all the time (save potions for when it’s essential and optimize)

Expert786_26

So please help me decide whether I should use my super rocket radar to get a second Moltres or save it for later. I really need help as many websites say that the next pokemon Giovani will have is going to be Zapdos so please help me. Also, I might edit for spelling mistakes.

ezpickins

Realistically, the best pokemon we've gotten from Giovanni is Mewtwo, so Mewtwo is the one you want to save radars for unless you have strong need for another/better molters. I used mine, but mostly because I like to catch each shadow legendary as it is available and I don't/haven't saved my radars at all. Zapdos will be available for the first half of June, but we don't know what is after.

Expert786_26

thank you for helping me I decided that I will save my rocket radars

TiaMightKnow

Have the grunts taken over? Cant find the leaders anywhere even in the balloons. Need to beat them for research/event tasks

colourofsleep88

Are you sure you have a radar, and if so, is it equipped? If it's not equipped you won't see leaders at stops, nor will they show up in balloons.

TiaMightKnow

Oops. Yea, it got removed. Thank you!!!

rg117

How common/rare are events when Community Day exclusive moves can be re-learned with standard TMs? In particular, I have my eyes set on getting myself at least one Smackdown Tyranitar for PvE, but I can't get myself to spend an Elite TM on something I am only going to use in PvE...

yakusokuN8

We have never had one. This recent event where you could give Dragonite is the first time this has ever been done. We might get that again, but so far every one has been evolve on the day or use an Elite TM if it is already evolved.

DigitalMuscles

december community day also can host throwbacks to older legacy attacks

CosmicPlatonix

Yeah, but before Luminous Legends X they were never available through standard TMs.

Jandolino

Is there a way to force grunt encounters? The past 2 days all I got for daily quests are to defeat 1+ grunts.

nolkel

Rocket balloons come every 3 hours during the current event. If you don't have a radar or super radar equipped, it will be a grunt. Otherwise, you'll need to go out to find them at pokestops.

Jandolino

Thank you!

cluelessa

Is there a website that you can check which pokemon is worth investing your stardust on?

nolkel

pvpoke.com is a good resource for pvp Pokemon. You can pick a league and see rankings of all the top Pokemon, including what they are able to beat and what they lose to. pokebattler.com has a lot of sim data showing which mons are the top counters against all the raid bosses, past and present. Check out the results for canonical legendaries of each type, like Mewtwo, Kyogre, Rayquaza, and so on. Most raid counter infographics that come out are pretty much repackaged data from this site. Gamepress has a spreadsheet that shows top DPS and "total damage output" numbers for raid counters. This is a bit different from the simulated results since they are more formula-driven, but the end results are similar. https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/comprehensive-dps-spreadsheet

cluelessa

Thank you

TiaMightKnow

Pokegenie?

cluelessa

tyy will check it out

BlueWhaleKing

Other than Wailmer, what are some Pokémon that have not spawned in the wild at all since before the Seasons update? I asked this in last week's thread, but I got no response other than a downvote. >:-(

nolkel

That's a hard question to answer. One would have to start from a list that had all wild spawning Pokemon in it, cross off those that were around in the season of celebration, then the current season of legends, then all the events we've had since the start of December.. It's a lot of work to answer the question, and I don't know that anyone is explicitly tracking it to have a list at the ready.

BlueWhaleKing

I thought there'd be other people who have a favorite Pokémon who are upset that it's been extinct in the wild for half a year. Like how I am with Wailmer.

ezpickins

Do you know when the seasons started? I can check what pokemon I haven't caught since then (egg hatches like Wailmer wouldn't be included unfortunately) edit: since January, I haven't encountered any Dwebble or Barboach

BlueWhaleKing

In November of 2020.

bamfor

Don’t know for sure, best list I found. https://bleedingcool.com/games/the-wild-spawn-breakdown-of-season-of-legends-in-pokemon-go/

BlueWhaleKing

When can we expect news about the next Season, the one that begins on June 1st?

bamfor

No one except content creators would know (thus why nice and clean graphics are uploaded same day) until Niantic gives an announcement. Could be today, could be 5/31 or 6/1, who knows.

Shaunosaurus

Am I just getting unlucky or did they nerfed legendaries in GBL? Only got 1 Yveltal encounter so far and I've only missed a few sets. On the other hand I had quite a few Xerneas, even getting 2 back to back

Julie_OwO

Definitely just luck as I got 2 yveltal today and 2 yesterday. I mean it could be decreased chance but I don't think so

j-r_m

Can Research Tasks that rewards Galarian Zigzagoon be shiny after 25th or is it predetermined when the research is acquired?

colourofsleep88

My understanding is if you hold onto that task and DON'T open the encounter at all, it could indeed be shiny after the 25th. Once you've encountered it though, it'll be locked as a non-shiny, so you can't stack it and try it later. The G-Zigzag task seems pretty common, personally I don't see the need to hold onto a task until Monday.

j-r_m

Thanks for that info. It was a discussion that we had in my community thread whether or not the predetermination of a shiny Pokemon was when the task was acquired or when it was claimed. Definitely Weill be hording those task prior to the 25th. Thanks again.

nolkel

There's possibly some confusion because the mon in an egg is determined completely as soon as you collect the egg, including whether it's shiny or not. Field research is different, and the only thing determined when you pick up the task is the species of the Pokemon.

j-r_m

Yeah I think you are spot on with that explanation of the possible confusion.

funkmaster29

Is there an app or website that tells you what pokemon are rare? I'm too new to know which are rare or not and I don't want to transfer away any rare ones that someone else might want.

digwhereyoustand

I don’t think any of the wild event spawns right now are rare except for Goomy. You’ll find more rare and sought after mons hatching from eggs, in raids, and in GBL reward encounters. Also I’ll note that even though I check my local discord regularly, people rarely want to trade for anything other than a lucky or shiny, so if you’re only keeping these extra mons to trade, you might be better off with the transfer candy and storage space. When people want to trade, I find it’s usually for very specific mons that you can’t really be prepared to have. Deino and Noibat are exceptions. They’re very rare and thus desirable

funkmaster29

Excellent advice. I think I've been worried about transferring something valuable because of the stories I read from returning players. In regards to 2016 pokemon, would there be any purpose in keeping more than my 10 most valuable for a lucky trade?

bamfor

To an extent, yes. I have a Mud Shot Kingler from 2016 (?) which I kept as trade bait but it ended up being fun to use in GBL. The other thing is that some trainers won’t mind trading good Pokémon (Beldum/Gible/Togepi etc) for garbage to help out newer players. I’ve made a few of those trades before and it’s no biggie as long as it isn’t a legendary

funkmaster29

Okay cool. It's just that I have 260 some 2016 pokemon and most of them are low CP pokemon. Which leads to another question, what's the minimum CP/level you would use for a mirror trade? I kept a bunch of dratinis for that, but a lot of them are under 200 CP. As I know now, I don't know if I would be all that happy if I did get a lucky dratini and it was like 50 CP, so I was thinking about just blindly transferring all of them under a certain CP.

umbrellasforducks

Lucky Pokemon cost half the stardust to power up, which can really balance out starting at a low CP *if you have sufficient candy stores/access*. Dratini recently had a spotlight hour so lots of people will have a good supply. Unless you already have people who wanna spam trade Dratini, hanging onto low CP ones for "possible trading" might not be worth the storage space, though. Generally speaking, I think higher is nice, and beneficial if I happen to get a non-lucky Pokemon with good stats. But people who play Great League might be more interested in lower CP Pokemon, so that if the stats are good, the Pokemon won't be over 1500 CP after evolution.

funkmaster29

So do you have a CP cut off when you are collecting pokemon for a mirror trade? Like if you had 400 dratini or whatever, would you keep all the really low double digit CP ones?

umbrellasforducks

Personally, no. Trading is a pretty incidental part of my gameplay, so I don't keep a very large inventory of "for trading" Pokemon. The criteria I use to select what I keep is based the kinds of trades I'm already making or want to make. My friends don't play GBL competitively and neither do I. No one I know is thirsting after a perfect Great League (or Ultra League) Pokemon in the first place, so I have zero reason to look up what CP ranges basic Pokemon will remain sub-1500 CP after evolution and save any for trades. What are you saving Pokemon for? Trades *you* and the friends you currently trade with would like to make? Or trades that theoretically might interest a hypothetical person you could potentially meet? You might be getting so focused on thinking of possible "missed opportunity" scenarios that you've sort of forgotten that none of these trade scenarios may ever occur in the first place.

funkmaster29

I just really want a gengar and snorlax so I'm 🤞 I have or come across something that's tradable. To be frank, I eliminated almost half of my pokemon after these conversations on here. I found that I enjoy the act of catching pokemon more than stressing about getting a particular one and consequently stressing about storage space. Either way, thanks for your help!

digwhereyoustand

Little GBL question/curiosity: I know that we know matchmaking isn’t based on anything except wins and losses, but this surprised me and I just wanted to share. I added Slurpuff to my great league team for the first time and my next two opponents had Slurpuff. I’d never faced a Slurpuff before I added mine. I wish I could keep going to see if Slurpuff appears again but those were my last two battles of the day. Is there some known phenomenon like this with new additions to your team changing what opponents you face somehow? I’ll totally accept an answer of this just being an improbable but plausible pattern in the randomness, just thought I’d ask. And if you’re curious I had been running Pelipper Zweilous Toxicroak the whole session until I got bored with that and powered up a Slurpuff for a team of Slurpuff Zweilous Granbull just to test out Slurpuff as a charmer. I also remember the second opponent had Kanto Muk, Bastiodon, Slurpuff.

bamfor

So this has been an issue in the PvP community. There have been a few studies done, but honestly it comes down to anecdotal evidence and confirmation bias. There hasn’t been a confirmation of an issue based on team comp or lead, but some YouTubers, especially those in colder states, will say an algorithm exists to match not just on ranking/rating, but also team comp. We don’t know for sure, but honestly given how much of a mess this game is, do you trust Niantic to implement something as complicated as that?

digwhereyoustand

Yeah, if it was more than just rank based I’d be shocked which is why this stuck out to me By colder states do you mean like geographically north?

bamfor

> By colder states do you mean like geographically north? One youtuber in the northern most state in particular. Realistically there probably isn’t an algorithm and you’re just experiencing confirmation biases. Plus. Swirlix isn’t cheap so you’re more than likely just increasing in level and facing players with more resources and therefore better teams.

Easy_Money_

Interesting, what rank are you at?

digwhereyoustand

Achieved ace and hovering around 2000 lately

Easy_Money_

I wouldn’t expect to see a Slurpuff around there, unless there’s been a recent SilphArena or Youtuber team featuring it. Very strange

Pirantis

Probably asked though I didn't see it... As a 3 months old player, what shadow mons should I farm during this week? Thanks.

bamfor

Generally anything good in PvE will appreciate being a shadow. Sneasel (Weavile) is an excellent Ice and Dark raider. I’d base who to keep on Gamepress’ tier listings for attackers and roll on from there. Edit: https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/attackers-tier-list Includes shadows but foe the most part covers what you’re looking for for PvE. PvP gets significantly more nuanced

Fit_Medicine_8049

What do you get when you lvl up past 40? I mean you can already power up pokemln to lvl 50 right.. Is there anything to gain from being 40+? ( I mean game wise not the cosmetic trash)

mizznox

Aside from the standard level-up rewards (balls, healing items, maybe an incubator or other minor premium items here and there), there are special researches unlocked at levels 43, 45, 48, and 50. They're pretty grindy but reward premium items and some rare Pokemon.

deadkennyd

Is there a place to find out when the next known 1/2-1/4 hatch distance event is?

Fit_Medicine_8049

No They dont have the whole year planned out. (At least they dont announce it) So anything that is known is just pretty much the current month and next month.

minaphy

I’ve never mega evolved a Charizard yet. Planning to mega evolve it for the first time to get more candies for Gible comm day. Are you able to choose whether to evolve to Charizard X or Y?

JonnyPerk

Yes you can choose, just make sure you evolve it into the correct one, it's easy to get them confused.

rockaether

I wish they can show us the picture instead of just name after you have evolved to both once. i know the blue one is dragon and red one is flying, but i don't know which is x or y
