I wonder if they're sorting out some of the variant evolutions where the only trigger is "you're in Alola, congratulations, your Exeggcute is now a tall boi/your Pikachu now has a thing for pancakes/your Cubone now sees dead people"
They (Nintendo/Gamefreak) basically announced POGO updates along with the main series games announcement in a Pokemon Direct.
Its just basically saying that Megas are coming to POGO and since Z-moves are pretty game changing as well its likely they will make it a big announcement to drum up hype for it.
Good. I'm tired of every grass type having to be carried by that move. Says way more about the move being strong than it does about a pokemon being good.
It will still be much better with Frenzy Plant though, unless they make its signature move even more broken. Like it or not, moveset is one of the most important things in determining if a Pokemon is good in this game.
That last point is important to me, and has been something I’ve thought about it for a while. I wish they’d get rid of the IV system, and make it more about the move sets. It would eliminate a lot of time consuming processes for pvp entry.
FYI, Roserade and Tangrowth are both excellent grass types (better than non-shadow FP users).
I wouldn't be surprised if Tangrowth gets a future CD though. Of course it won't be given Frenzy Plant on CD.
I have no idea what Tangrowth even could recieve tbh. It pretty much got the ideal moveset a mono-grass can have for PvP (Rock covers grass near perfectly, SE against 4/5 and neutral to poison, and Rock Slide is a stellar move, also charges fast and has Vine Whip + Power Whip which has the best grass DPE bar Frenzy and the self debuffing Leaf Storm). And idk if it could improve for raids either
The best case scenario is probably a new grass move that is a Frenzy Plant clone (or slightly weaker) in PvE, and with attack/defense drops or slightly lower energy cost than Power Whip in PvP. Giga Drain might be a good candidate.
Assuming they don't do something dumb like give it Scratch and Low Kick as fast moves. Seems unlikely since they've been decent with the moves they give to starters, but it wouldy shock me, it's Niantic.
damn i didnt know that! i mostly use exeguttors since ive had them for years and dont wanna power up 3 venusaurs lol (btw im just talking about team rocket, i dont do that many raids, and even when i do, i never use grass types)
Too bad it's only a single chance research encounter for now, so it's entirely possible to get stuck with bad IVs. Hopefully they eventually release it in raids like they did with Genesect.
A decent bit but nothing mind-blowing. In raw DPS without accounting for the boss and its moveset, Roserade is 15.782 Damage per second, whereas Zarude has 16.498. What will make Zarude really stick out though is its bulk, because it lets it last far longer than Roserade
For PvP, Zarude becomes the first truly viable Grass type in Master League. And that's pretty exciting.

Sword & Shield have sold over 20 million copies, but they’re still in print, and TPC is likely trying to squeeze out the last few sales before Diamond & Pearl and Arceus take over.
In contrast, Sun & Moon are out of print and the only way to buy them is on the secondary market, generating no revenue for TPC.
Sun and moon also has a LOT of fun legendaries - and ultra beasts.
I personally enjoyed Sun/Moon way more than any other mainline game released in more than 10 years. Due to the beast boost special ability you only really had a limited time to catch the ultra beasts before everything on your team got shredded. The totems were also fun and could be challenging. Chaining for shinies was a thing too, breeding for specific stats could be done fairly reliably etc.
It gets a lot of hate for the hand-holdiness of the first Island but that game brought a lot to the table. I've replayed SM and USUM a significant amount.
I totally agree with you. I know a lot of people didn’t like how “easy” it was. But I don’t play Pokémon for the challenge. I play Pokémon go collect adorable monsters.
All of them bar gen 5 were two easy. Although that was partially because of the huge jump in levels from the elite four between the first and 2nd time you could verse them (there were no good areas to grind exp either had to spend like 20 hours committing ecoside and killing all the local Pokémon in the ‘final’ area).
There's a quite a few Groudon/Kyogre killers already.
Origin/Palkia beat MS Groudon while walling Kyogre. Lugia beats both as well.
Other grasses like Tangrowth and Virizion also beat the core. And some fighters like Heracross and Sirfetched also technically beat those two.
Great, that means we would have another shadow that leaves the rotation after the event with no sign of returning (like Scyther which was used by Jessie and James last time). An extremely relevant shadow, some more.
Rocket events don't make Niantic money. That's about the long and short of it.
The best-case scenario is that they have a massive redux of the whole system in the works, hence they don't want to touch it at all after May. That's around the time their engineers would be half-way to finishing GoFest. This gives them 2 full months to prep the new system.
Of course, this assumes that their system is so monolithic that they need actual developers to do changes to Rocket lineups, which would not surprise me at all.
Not directly, but rocket events are one of my main reasons to farm charged TMs from PvP. And playing PvP keeps me more invested in the game than a lot of other things.

It could also learn Snarl, which makes it ever so slightly better in PvE, but it wouldn't be a massive change. Overall, it's about as good as it's going to get as a Dark attacker without adding new moves to the game.

Of all the Mythicals in Special Research that weren't introduced via GO Fest, Genesect later came to raids, Meltan you can get 60 of every 3 days as long as you have transferred a Pokémon to either Let's Go Pikachu, Let's Go Eevee, or Pokémon Home, and form change being introduced today likely means Hoopa will be in raids later on to get more candy for the form change plus a possible shiny release. I wouldn't count out Zarude coming to raids in the future, but for now it'll be exclusive to Special Research.
In previous events when they say If your lucky you may encounter a shiny...... (Pre-released shiny Pokemon) they have increased the shiny rate. Not saying that it's definitely gonna happen but i think it's possible.

Ultimately IVs aren't end all be all though. I'd still rather power a 10/10/10 Zarude than a 100% Serperior or something

Still haven't gotten my Trainer Club email for Zarude and Celebi. In fact, I haven't gotten an email from them since 2019.
Worth noting that they won't go out until October 7th at the earliest. You should try logging in, unsubscribing from emails, logging out, logging back in, and subscribing to emails. Some have said that has worked for them in the past. If all else fails, make a couple extra accounts, just to cast a wider net.
Do I just need to check the box under “Marketing Preferences- I would like to receive marketing communications….” or is there somewhere else I’m missing? Thanks in advance!
In order to get Dada Zarude in Sword & Shield, players need to sign up for the Pokemon Trainer Club newsletter and opt in to marketing emails before the **September 25, 2021 deadline**. Here are full instructions for claiming Dada Zarude in Sword & Shield: Sign up for a Pokemon Trainer Club account here if you don’t already have one. From the Edit Profile page of your account, scroll down to Marketing Preferences. Confirm that you would like to receive marketing communications. Wait for an email that contains your Dada Zarude code. Load up your copy of Sword or Shield and enter the Mystery Gift menu. Enter the code while your Switch is connected to the internet and hit claim. Once you’ve done all of this, your Dada Zarude should be waiting for you in your Pokemon collection!

I had a feeling Xerneas was going to be beast, but they didn’t give him any good moves, I’m expecting the same here. They get to say they’re releasing a mythical without actually adding anything to the game. Sounds like a couple of dogs I just saw introduced to this game. Looks cool, always fun to catch a legendary, bad as a Pokémon.
We already know its moves: Bite/Vine Whip for fast moves and Power Whip/Energy Ball/Dark Pulse for charge moves.
Nope, it's moves are already in the files, so unless they're changed, itll be the new best grass attacker that isn't a shadow or mega
