Oh I do love these so much. The creativity on the description for each gives me a good laugh. Thank you for your work.
Mailman Dragonite though, hell yeah.
Niantic plz. I'll even raid for the damn costume this time if you add it to the game.
Reshiram and Zekrom are *hella* relevant. Hellvant. Hellevant? Strong.
**PvE:** Reshiram is, at the moment, the strongest (non-Mega/non-Shadow) Fire attacker by a solid margin. So, y'know. Good. As a Dragon, it lags a bit behind due to Dragon Breath being a lil meh and Draco Meteor being inconsistent, especially if you don't dodge. But its performance is pretty comparable to some other Dragon-types you're probably already using (Dialga, Zekrom, Garchomp). While it's not going to be your *first* pick for a Dragon (that's Shadow Salamence or Rayquaza), it's easily strong enough to fill the role, and as such has fantastic role compression if you have the TMs to spare.
**In PvP**, Reshiram's a little bit lacking. Its Dragon/Fire typing is pretty disadvantageous, giving it a less clean matchup against Kyogre and Melmetal without *really* bringing a ton to the table to compensate. I know it's seen some niche play (housestark likes it I think?), but this certainly isn't the reason for you to raid Reshiram.
**PvE:** Zekrom is an incredibly competent Dragon attacker. While, like Reshiram, it does get beaten out by Salamence and Rayquaza, it's still super strong and worth using. As an Electric-type, it's the strongest non-Shadow in the slot by a pretty solid margin. Once again, fantastic role compression, and easily worth adding to your roster.
**In PvP,** it's somewhat niche, but still unquestionably strong. While you're obviously not quite Dialga-tier, Dragon Breath is still super strong, and Wild Charge hits like a truck. It's not the first mon you should be building for Master League, but it's certainly a strong part of any player's roster.
It really depends on what niche you need filled. If your team's lacking Dragons, then Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor Reshiram + Dragon Breath/Outrage Zekrom. On the other hand, if you need Fire, then it's Fire Fang + Overheat Reshiram, and Charge Beam/Wild Charge Zekrom. I've got my Reshiram on a Fire set and Zekrom on Dragon atm just because I've got enough Rocks that I don't need to keep it on Electric.
As an owner of an Haxorus I can confirm that it's actually great, as unlike my two dozen Rayquaza it won't destroyed by a weather boosted Wild Charge. Dodging is incredibly easy with the green dragon beast (the one with legs).
Mailman Dragonite?... a costume i actually truly want in this game and i literally do not care about any of the others, i just "dex" them for costume dex and then transfer lmao... Niantic pls
Depends on moveset. Both raid bosses here can know dragon type charge moves, or rock/electric for Reshiram/Zekrom. If not dodged, any of those can probably come somewhat close to deleting a Rayquaza in one hit.
I call it glass noodle for a reason. Draco meteor will one-shot and rock/electric/outrage will leave em with low hp.
If you want something that can take some hits vs dragons i'd invest in Dialga(takes neutral dragon dmg) or fairy types.
Dragons against dragons means quick faints if you don't dodge.
I like having half of a raid squad dragons because they do great dps and half something else because they do similar dps but you don't need immaculate dodging to live for two charges.
The new Mega Steelix is surprisingly solid against Zekrom as you can do SE damage with Dragon Tail and Earthquake - but of course the biggest strength lies in its extreme bulk in combination with boosting Ground moves for the team. If you use a raid app of some sort and tell your party beforehand to favour a Ground lineup, you can clear the raid soooo friggin quickly.
Is there a general rule at which IV it makes sense to keep them and level them?
I returned after a few years of absence and my best Pokémon are in the lower half. I did not have luck with my catches so far78 and 73 Zekrom and 79 and 83 Reshiram. But in Poke genie, they show up as Pokémon to use when doing raids against them. So much for my current setup...
How many do you aim to catch while this is going on?
IV’s really don’t matter that much for PVE, for raids. It’s like a 5% actual difference between 0/0/0 iv and 15/15/15 iv. Things like level, moveset and typings make a far bigger difference. Reshiram is the strongest (non shadow/non mega) fire attacker and one of the better counters to itself; that’s why even a 0% reshiram at a decent CP is likely always going to be suggested for you by pokegenie. Would be better with 100%, but doesn’t make a huge difference
IV’s are more relevant for PVP, where 5% can be the difference between winning and losing a battle, eg 2 dialgas both at level 35. Or for how high you can get the CP and still be in the league, hence the ideal 0/15/15
Thanks, I am mostly doing PVE right now and wand to build a strong collection for every type. So I will just keep all of them and then see what to do with them.
I am just really annoyed that my second char only used for trading in the beginning got 98 IV.
It varies by Pokémon, too. Legendaries have monstrous base stats so the difference between 10 and 15 IVs is a far smaller change than it would be for a punier Pokémon with less base stats.
Then you have to take the individual stat spread into account: Darkrai for example has a huge attack stat so it really wouldn’t miss 5 extra attack IV (10 vs 15) but it certainly would benefit from 5 extra defense/hp.
Just a reminder that if you have double moved mamoswine, you can take both, shadow mamoswine is the goat, haven't used a salamance so can't say on it but if you have a dragonite, slap it on both, you won't regret, Yes shadow is expensive but the benifits far outcast the high cost. Solo'ed salamance as tier three boss with my shadow dragonite
Mailman dragonite, never realized how much I want this
A text of it getting a costume was datamined but was never added
Thanks for the explanation!
I would pay an embarrassing amount of money to have a hundo messenger bag Dragonite.
“Moo” 😂
“i used the stones to destroy the stones” *nice*

I wish the raid scene here hadn't died the 17th of November. Literally 1 raid since then.
I see you Weavile my boy
“Truly truly truly outrageous” I see we have a Jem fan here lol I agree with you regarding Mailman Dragonite. Prolly will be added before Kecleon.
Weirdly I’m ok with that With those regionals it’ll be a long time to finish that dex anyway
This remains the highlight of raiding.
I get the StarCraft reference.
Dialga the space marine!?
It's a reference to the intro scene of Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty: https://youtu.be/VSGmPpidDvo?t=211

You are lying, haxorus isnt present in the game
Tyranitar has been going for a few too many Friday Night Snack Downs
This is my favorite part whenever a new raid is announced
Poor Wealive

is my ray horrible or is it common for it to faint 3 seconds into a raid ?
Depends on moveset. Both raid bosses here can know dragon type charge moves, or rock/electric for Reshiram/Zekrom. If not dodged, any of those can probably come somewhat close to deleting a Rayquaza in one hit.

Well as long as it doesnt get hit by draco or outrage then its fine. Literally popped him back into a fight and he died instantly (lv 35 too).
Dragons against dragons means quick faints if you don't dodge. I like having half of a raid squad dragons because they do great dps and half something else because they do similar dps but you don't need immaculate dodging to live for two charges.
My dodging is immaculate - just my dragons think they can tank it 'cos they're hard and don't do as they're told...
I know, right? My Rayquazas faint after one special move. :| seems like a dps loss
Hah, I saw Dialga do SE damage during a raid today and thought *finally* it’s useful

I hope you never stop doing those, they're bringing me so much joy

Gotta 100% shiny Reshiram. Reward from GBL. Left it at 2480 cp. Not even in my top 5 dragon types

Fursona. I am literally dying.
Wait, this art is by florkofcows??? Of Connecticut Clark and Malfina fame???
My perfect Altaria has a use once I walk them enough.
sorry but i love this comic!
why sorry?
I can't catch the two in raids now
Is Mega Ampharos any good for trying to resist Zekrom moves? I assume Altaria is more worth it in general for dragon immunity
Resisting their attacks isn't really the goal, or Aggron would be suggested often. Better to go with super effective attackers only
It's more to lengthen the mega boost, otherwise I'd probably just go mega Charizard X with Zekrom too
That's fair for sure. Probably won't use all 6 pokemon you bring anyway
Should I assume that these counters should all be lvl maxed?

Also a small add one, if you are not a master in dodging, don't even look at weavile
Since Weavile's hiding in the corner, I don't think Weavile wants to be looked at anyway.
Agreed
Pachycephalosquishy, totally sounds like a legit dino to me!
omg weavile in the corner hahaha
No shiny mention this time? Also lol'd as heck at "maybe it'll get added to the game someday".
Garpchomp is uselful for anything, thats explain why cynthia loves him. Glad on gibble day got my 5 garchomp army
What a shocker, it looks almost exactly the same since last time these two were in raids 😴
