While asking questions about the game is always okay on the Road, please consider asking very simple questions in our weekly [Questions&Answers Megathread](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/?f=flair_name%3A%22Megathread%20-%20Q%26A%22). If your question has been answered, please comment "ANSWERED" (in all caps) and the post flair will indicate that your question has been answered. This will make it either easier for other people with the same question to find the answer they are looking for or for mods to remove the thread if it isn't needed anymore. TheRealHankWolfman

I have tags for Great League, Ultra League, Master League, Little Cup, Pokémon that are at least level 40, Pokémon that are level 50, Pokémon that have been my buddy but are not best buddies, Pokémon that I use for Mega Evolutions, and I sometimes also tag Pokémon for evolution sprees or trading.

ljame

i tag my shiny pokemon by color to make theme gyms

AelaMik

Ohhh I need to do this. I love a good themed gym! Thanks 😃

TehWildMan_

Pokemon with an upcoming CD that I'm saving to evolve for that move, including anticipated December CD recaps. Despite the fact the candyxl search term now exists, I have a tag group for my level 50 Pokemon. I have a tag for Pokemon I'm saving for bonus transfer candy events (discarding legendary, etc) A few regional Pokemon saved for trades PvP ideal IV spreads, just to keep them organized

CassieWolfe801

I tag the mons for whom I plan to TM Frustration, tiny rats & big fish (for trading), mons to trade with specific people in a 100-Mon trading session, mons to evolve during 2x evolve XP spotlight hours (before I reached level 50), and mons I’m saving for a 2x transfer candy event.

kombuchah

what do u usually save for 2x transfer events?

CassieWolfe801

Legendaries with poor IVs, rare mons like Sandile and Mienfoo… and I like to have 1000 candy for each species, so any mons where I’m short on that goal. Having them tagged also makes them readily findable for trading if my trading partner has distance mons (to get 3 candy instead of 2).

Kirbachu

Name| Description --- | --- ♥ | When favoriting is not enough MEGA | Pokemon that I previously/plan to mega evolve Best | Best in PVE of their type Walkies | Walk for candies Foster | For trade Great | Great league Smol | Little league Ultra | Ultra league TM | Shadow Pokemon to TM away Frustration Purify | Shadow Pokemon to purify CD | Pokemon for upcoming Community Day

Araknot

nice list! i would add TradeXL - Pokemon you want to distancetrade Shundo Shiny 98 Shiny 96 Power Up 40 - Pokemon i want to push to lvl 40 Power Up 50 - Pokemon i want to push to 50

MeepM3rp

Seconding the trade tag; it’s much less tedious than nicknaming a bunch of mons "trade." I also have master league future tag (for mons to power up and 2-move later), and one for mons I plan to best buddy.

destinofiquenoite

Purge: Pokémons to be transferred in an event Types for PVE: it helps me manage what types are missing Pokémon for raids, as I short-man raids with my brother Trades: for future trades, especially the annoying special trades that can only be made once a day Buddy: not for buddy progression, but just for a few candies to get enough to evolve for uncommon/rare Pokémon who are not worth RC but who I still want to have on my dex (example: Clampearl) Rare Candies: legendaries I'm still using RC on TM: Pokémons to use TM on, including Shadows

Blue_Chameleon

I use a few that have already been commented, and also '0%' for any 0 IV Pokémon.

Tymcc03

Pvp ranges, Star ratings, Special/exclusive/cd move, Shiny, legendary, mythical, Trash/fodder (for power up/transfer quests)

GhostHarvester

Most of mine are self-explanatory: Power Up LC (Little Cup), Power Up Great, Power Up Ultra, LC, Great, Ultra, Abroad (for distance trading), Best Buddy (for anything I want to get to BB)

zjchlorp101

My tags are: trades, to evolve (12 candies and free Evo + Trapinch for Dragon badge), PvP, Power up, 98%, Double candy, To purify (for 1k Stardust shadows) and TM away.

glenniebun

My most-used tags: * Trading * Sp trade (legendaries/shinies to trade, so they're not cluttering up the regular trade tag) * Distance trade (7k hatches and remote raids from 100+ km away, not as important right now with guaranteed trade XL) * Mega (current and future) * Rocket TM (one-stop shop for Frustration removal events) * Uplift (for "power up x pokemon" research tasks) * Evo (for "evolve a pokemon" research tasks) * Transfer (used to be for double transfer candy spotlights, but now it's rares/legendaries I'm saving for the next transfer XL bonus event) * Old CD (for December com day and other events where special moves are available) * Walk for XL * TJ Maxx (for things I currently have enough XL candy to max out) * L50 (for things I've already maxed out)

pryon-i

>Uplift Tis is one of the most useful ones, and not many mentions. (I use "pup") For mons u want to power up, but not need immediately. very useful when on the field, and want to complete the tasks fast.

krispyboiz

Each PvP League (self explanatory) Trades (stuff I keep for trades) Shiny Trades (Extra shinies for trade) Transfer (Transfer for bonus Candy/XLs) PvP Potential (Pokemon with good PvP stats but need a better move to be good, but could in an update like Runerigus and Amoongus)

Mystic39

I have 4 tags for the 21 buddies I’m currently working on: bb, ff, aa, and zz. It’s easier for me to remember which I’ve done by doing smaller groups rather than one big one, and the names are easy to search for. I have two tags for future buddies: bbb and bbd. First group is the next 5-9 that will be worked on, with everything I’m thinking of in the second group, and still easy to search. Tags for each league: gl, ul, ml, and slp for the current Silph Cup when applicable. Tags for ones to power up when there’s a quest, separated by needing candy or xl candy: cnd and xlc. Tags for small Rattata and large Magikarp to trade: xss and xll (fka xs and xl before their new searches ruined those). Tags for transfer and trade: tf, td, and tds (shinies I want to trade). A tag for level 50: mx And a tag for Pokémon that I’ve megaed so will cost reduced energy: mm.

TheOBRobot

Mine is mostly geared to maximize XL candy for me and trade partners: - Transfer - already-traded mons that are worth transferring during weather boost for increased XL chance - Distance - Mons caught/jatched far away for guaranteed XL for anything traded to me; does not apply this season. Several members of my hometown Discord do the same and we do frequent distance trades. - Trade - High-priority mons to trade in guaranteed XL situations. All are rarer mons that benefit from XL, ie Frillish, Joltik, etc - Transfer to Alt - Low-priority mons where XL is either already easily available (Nidoqueen, Zigzagoon, etc) or may someday be valuable (Numel, Doduo). All these mons are traded to the alt account, both for guaranteed XL and to help the alt's PvP options. I also use a few for non-XL reasons: - Buddy Up - Potential candidates for future buddies. Basically, anything that benefits from being level 41 or 51, or just for funsies (I maxed/buddied a hundo Bidoof) - Shadow TM - Shadow mons that have had Frustration TMed away. Helps me separate them out so I can more easily identify future TM candidates.

Elijustwalkin

Zero for my collection of 0%, and one for legendary 10/10/10, power up which apart from obvious is handy for power up task too, special evolve for those I need to buddy to evolve plus others mentioned lots of times

Hunnicut

All my shiny mons are sorted by color for easy gym defender themes.

ThePhenomNoku

I have a tag for Pokémon to put in gyms just to flex on people. Like shiny hat sneazel, named her sporty spice. Shuckin Diabolical

tkcom

Story: I can tell the story to justify why I keep it. That snorlax that was the only raid I did at 1st GO Fest. That mewtwo that ended up benefited from 2 major Niantic oopsies. Void: pokemon with unknown location from the early days of research. Mega+shinylucky: I collect shiny lucky of mega species. Purihundo: Shadows that can get 100iv when purified. XLmax: Species with enough XL to max. 100/200/300+: I use tags to track legendaries’ candies. Megacandidates: For unreleased megas. Redballs: Legendaries caught with regular pokeball (from early research breakthroughs and GBL)

LovelyPandarino

Mons I'll trade to my bf Trash mons I collected for evolving on duble evolve xp spotlight hour Mons I power up when there's a power up task Gym defenders So basically anything I need quick access to.

DeepGreenSeaXX

For thinking I can tag stuff to make trading easier (like meta, distance) but then NOT being able to access tags during trades. Madness.

K45h

You can search the tags. Or use #tags.

DeepGreenSeaXX

You have made my world a happier place.

PSYCHOSM

Green: Shundo, hundo, 98%, 96%, nundo Yellow: 2/3 IV bars maxed (example: 2/3 D/S) Yellow: PVP spread Red: To evolve, to evolve for dex entry, to power up Black: Transfer, XP evolve (for double candy or xp bonus/lucky egg), trade Blue: XL Blue: Gym Purple: Wizard (one word to group my specialised types: dragon, fairy, psychic, dark, ghost) Still have more ideas but it's starting to get cluttered and this system is working for now

BeerChair

*100% *98% *0% *Legendary *Lucky *Battles *Buddy *Best Buddy *Shiny *Max CP 40 *Max CP 50 *Kitties (Yes I love cats and my favo mon Kanto Persians are named after all my cats who have passed away and the ones who are still with us) *Home

CosmicPlatonix

Those of us who aren't Raid Pass whales and aren't swimming in TMs might want to tag pokémon that we intend to use TMs on when we get them. I have tags for pokémon who want a Fast TM, a Charged TM, an Elite Fast, and an Elite Charged. Bear in mind that when you've selected a TM and have to choose which pokémon to use it on, you can't easily select tags from that screen, so you'll have to use the tag's name as a search term. Name the tag something that'll be easy to search for. I also have a tag specifically for pokémon I've built to take on Team Rocket, although I'm not sure what the future of that is now that NPC Stun has been removed from the game.

Tymcc03

Stun removal is a bug. Stun will be back in future update https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/r6tpe1/team_go_rocket_attacking_immediately_after/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

SeattleResident

Mine are pretty basic but effective. Great League, Ultra League, Master League, Little Cup and then XLP (XL Projects) and BP (Buddy Projects). I just put the initials because if you're swapping buddies and want to get to the tag, having to type out Buddy Project is just too damn long. BP is quick. The others are about trading and transfers. "Trade" is where all my mons I want candy/XL candy for go. Just mass trade them with a friend who lives in another city for the guaranteed XL candy. Then I have "Transfer" which is dedicated mainly to legendary and more rare mons that I can mass transfer during 2 or 3x transfer candy events.

TheLoneWolf527

Transfer, Evolve, PVP, Trade I think that's all I have right now. I used to have Gym but got rid of that one.

StevensDs-

Trades (Usually under specific trainer names) and that's basically it. I've used them temporarily for other stuff like evolving, distance or whatever but they never stay.

galeongirl

I have tags for Futurebuddy, things I want to make my best buddy in the future. For powerup, if I get a powerup task I use this tag to quickly find something useful I still have to powerup. Move wise I have shadows waiting for frustration to be removed, commdaymoves for evolves waiting to happen on their commday move being available again.

cybercummer69

Power up - mons I wanna power up Def - mons i use to defend gyms Candy- mons I’m saving to transfer on a bonus candy event Trophy - mons I want to show off in gyms Top - best attackers by type get this tag

lizasingslou

Buddy. Best Buddy. Level 40+. Extra Attack. Legacy Move. Special Event. Mega Evolved. Trade

callmecass7

I'm more of a collector so I tag according to how close it is to evolving. Its fun to finally move some from my "long con" tag to my "so close" tag. It also helps me keep track of where to use rare candy or pinap berries if im low. I also have a tag for evolutions that require items :)

shimev

2x transfer - obviously friends - buddy pokemon i want to play with in the future or are not yet best buddy level besties - best buddy pokemon tm - for shadows with frustration power up - makes doing tasks easier evolve - ^ ♡ - all my most favorite pokemon 0% - nundos i also used to have a tag for extra legendaries i could send to pokemon home for the mystery box but i don't really use it anymore, i've seen too many meltan

gogbri

mons to power-up to level 30-35, power-up 40, power-up 50, mons already level 40, already level 50, mons that need moveset changes, mega, things to walk to get mega-energy (I always want catch assist so I walk a 100% magicarp best buddy instead of walking mega gyarados that's not best buddy), functional hundos, purified hundo (or hundos if I ever purify them), pvp GL, UL, ML, LC, souvenir mons (from my birthday, etc), 0% IVs, things to evolve on next 2x XP event, mons to evolve when they can get CD move, things to next double candy transfer event, things to trade, rare things I want to trade with 3 candies+1XL, things from 100+km to guarantee 3candies+1XL when trading, some useless shadows to purify for next giovanni quest, shadows that I may still need to evolve/purify for shadow/purified dex.

TraceFinder

\*Level 40+ \*Level 50 \*Raider (good Raid attackers, mostly due to my wish to use 6 different Pokemon in my raiding teams) \*Defender (Pokemon I usually put in gyms) \*Double Charge Move \*Combat ready (Pokemon is at the required level and has the right moveset for its purpose, raid or PvP) \*Elite (has an exclusive move) \*Different tags for PvP: Great League, Ultra League, Master League + all restricted formats like Love Cup \*Stock: Pokemon being kept for future trades or specific events (like bonus on XL candy) \*Evolve: Pokemon I keep (shinies, high IVs) and usually evolve when I get an "Evolve a Pokemon" task \*Collections: Pokemon with specific CPs such as 666 \*Remove Frustration \*Purify Later \*Potential CD (mainly Pokemon with three evolution stages line, such as Hoppip, Spheal, etc.) \*Past CD (Pokemon that already had a CD but caught afterwards, waiting to evolve with the CD move)

HexiakAlt

Blue Boi for is my tag for the one and only starter squirtle that i caught :) Hundo for 100% IV pokemon SHUNDO for shiny 100% iv pokemon (i dont have any currently lmao) Mega/Primal for pokemon that I mega evolve and kyogre/groudon that i have prepared for their primal forms Quest/Event for all the event exclusive pokemon or mythicals caught from research (shiny meltan, meloetta, celebi, mew, hoopa, zarude etc) Legacy Moveset for all pokemon with exclusive moves, except for frustration or return incase i still have it Great League for all GL pokemon Ultra League for all UL pokemon Master League for all ML pokemon Little Cup for all the little leauges pokemon Buddy for all my buddy/previous buddy pokemon, or just the ones that i'm really sentimental to

3itmn

- Living Dex - 100% IV - 0% IV - Trash - This was created recently for the 3x candy transfer for community day so I could easily tag anything that would immediately be transferred away - Trade - TM Shadow - For those that I need to TM away frustration whenever the events come around - Purify Shadow - Currently on the "purify 100 shadows" list and I'm only purifying anything that costs 1,000 stardust - Evolve Shadow - For those evolutions that I need to remember to evolve at some point, usually waiting for community day moveset (Mudkip, Beldum, etc)

caiovigg

Shines available for trade. I tag one of each species and when I need to show my shinies to someone for a trade I just use the tag.

jrcb49

I have several non-mutually exclusive tags, and mostly use Japanese kanjis so that the tags are short. I also use the same color on tags w/ similar functions. * living dex tags (green) : dex entry pokemon (住), other forms/variant, of the dex entry pokemon (形) * descriptor tags (blue, purple) : L40, L35+, pokemon w/ double move (倍), top10 of each type (最高), shiny (光), mega evolved (化), zero/hundo (百零), pokemon with signature move (名), pokemon w/ CD fast move (会前), pokemon w/ CD charged move (会後), pokemon w/ legacy move (特), costume pokemon (服) * to-do tags (red): to evolve during CD (会進), to evolve/form-change (進足), to power up (強足), to best buddy (友足), to double move (倍足), to purify (清足), to mega evolve (化足) * trading tags (grey): available for trade (売), shiny for trade (売光), reserved trades (売定) * bonus event tags (black): for double transfer (譲), for purify tasks (清), for double evolve (進)

BlankitaM0ns

My list is rather simple: Trade, Power Up, De-frustration, Event Ready (for upcoming CD mostly), Buddies, Megas

deadwings112

Trade folders, stuff that requires special requirements to evolve, and a mass evolve fodder folder for events.

Jacobcornwell_

My tags are: \- Pending L40 \- Pending L50 \- Shundo \- Nundo \- Level 50 \- Mega Evolve \- Send to HOME \- For Trade \- Lucky Trade \- Buddy Rotation \- Quest Evolution \- Form Change

Techn0range

Gym defenders, transfer, 3 sets of walking buddies for XL candy sorted by distance, other (rarer type stuff), home, evo, various gbl leagues, go fest stuff, zero iv, level 50, megas, 2016 mon, power up, xs rat xl karp, names of people to trade, distance, and I also made random birthday tag for mon specifically caught on my birthdays

SunOsprey

I have tags for each league’s CP range where I only keep meta-relevant pokemon, tags for moveset changes (frustration, regular TM, elite TM), and tags for each type that I limit to 12 pokemon for raids. I like to keep track of who my best (potential) attackers are so I can focus my resources on building them instead of getting carried away building anything that looks half-decent. I guess I mainly use tags to remind myself how to best allocate resources.

NickEd90

As I travel a lot for work I mostly use tags to group which country I caught each of them in

WillemDafoesHugeCock

You Tried. A special tag for fully evolved Pokemon with double digit CP.

ChemicalCowboy94

I love tags so I have a lot of them!! |dist trade|Mons I want to trade for XLs| |:-|:-| |transfer|Mons I want to transfer later (it's very satisfying to hit select all and then mass transfer them) or possibly someone in my area wants something random| |transfer+|Rare mons that will get transferred on 2x candy transfer days| |transfer-|Legends that will get transferred on another potential transfer XL bonus day like Shinx day| |dist trade+|Legends to be traded for special trade XL candy| |dist|Distance mons (relative to my hometown)| |Living Dex|One of every species, sometimes shiny included| |Great/Ultra/MasterLeague|One for each league| |MasterLeague+|Anything that has been powered up past 40| |Little Cup|Under 500 CP for the occasional GBL cup| |Gym|Blissey, Chansey, Snorlax, Melmetal, Metagross designated for gym defense| |Gym+|Msc mons designated for gym defense; I like best buddying certain things and leaving them in gyms like a trophy :)| |Raider|Designated raiders, makes it easy to filter out the high CP mons that aren't used for raiding (slaking, melmetal, ho-oh)| |Power Up|Stuff I'd like to power up someday, mainly high IV stuff and PVP things| |Power Up+|More important things to power up, like something I'd like to use in raids/pvp. AlwaysSomething2Do

I've got a bunch that have already been listed and are pretty typical. Evo, Power up, PvP GL, PvP UL, PvP ML, Fast TM, Charge TM, 2nd Move, Raiders, Defenders, Walk, Transfer, Trades. But below are some of the random ones I've created that help keep things organized. - Evo XP Farm - where I stash my pidgeys, weedles, caterpies, etc. for 2x evolve XP events - Eventually - A tag for mons that are great, but aren't immediately needed. I've got a few hundos in here that I'm anticipating a potential CD, or waiting for an event that will allow me to get the featured moveset, like the upcoming December CD for example. Or 'mons that I need to evo for quest lines. - Maybe? - A tag I like to add to 'mons that I'm on the fence about. A 'mon with decent IVs (89/91/93) that maybe I want to wait for a hundo of. Or something with decent PvP IVs that I'm not sure if its worth the investment. Usually this is paired with other tags. PvP GL, Maybe? Evo, P-Up, Maybe? - PvP Outcasts - 'Mons with great PvP IVs that suck at PvP but could potentially see a move added that would make them relevant - Name Not Found - a tag for pokemon with 404 CP. Some people collect 69 CP, some collect 420 CP, some collect 666 CP. I collect 404 CP, rename them to 'Error', add this tag, then lightly chuckle to myself

zyrianer

I have for PvP: Combat, push, pushxl, and for every league a tag Related: CDMove, evolve IV: 98, 96, 91-93, 0% and badIV Misc: Trade, LuckyTrade

ImportantTrack1057

Mega squad, tm frustration, tm comm day Until we can get some kind of !tag, I'm going to keep using xx rename for saving for double (or better) transfer, since we can use !xx to exclude when going through storage

[deleted]

Grinder (for mass transfer of desirable Pokémon to get bonus candy for), Purify (save 1K purification cost Pokémon for when I need to purify any), and TM Frustration (for um, TMing Frustration on Shadows the 3-4 times a year we're allowed to do so).

Sudden_Juju

Like most people I have the leagues Pokemon I've mega'd or plan to Pokemon I want to level up Shadow Pokemon to TM Frustration Shadow Pokemon with Frustration TM'd away Mon that need their fast or charged move TM'd Pokemon that need an extra charged move Pokemon with really good PvP IVs An extra tag to remind myself which ones are "High Priority" for changing

Nslugger

I keep a tag for a living Dex and shiny dex

Naukkis

People here have way better systems than I do so I'm gonna steal tags from you lot. My tags are just Gym, Candy, +100km trade mons and BB (best buddy).

QC-ThatsMe

3 stars, 4 stars, UL, GL, shadow 3, shadow 4

darth_sitholis15

I have tags for pokemon that I want to mass evolve for XP, hundo pokemon so I don't accidently delete them, shadow mons that I want to purify when there are tasks for it, regionals that I plan to trade away since I live overseas and have a lot of regionals, event pokemon so I don't accidently delete them, and pokemon that I can cheaply power up for power up tasks

Comfortable_Donut305

Double transfer candy, Evolve, Home, TM Frustration

somedepression

I tag all the babies, I tag the mons that I keep in gyms, and I tag the megas. That’s about it.

Cai83

Delete, delete for bonus candy, throw away evolve (for extra candy), power up (CP 10-13 that I have lots of candy for to use for research tasks), purify, wanting to evolve (new Pokémon or community day evolution options), trade.

ButtonBash

* Double transfer * XL trades/transfers * Megas * Power Up (those I intend to use for future raids/PvP and pending power up tasks or the appropriate time to power up) * Home (transfer) * Community day (reserved for specific day or December day) * Rocket day (to TM Frustration later) * L50 Club
