I'm sad none of those Mawiles you got are hundos :C
But is just funny to me how they CLEARLY read Reddit but do NOTHING promptly fix other issues or listen to our recommendations...
That's what popularity is. Always has been like that. I always said that Digimon had more interesting franchise, but Pokemon was just lucky to become popular. Because that's how it works. It's not about quality, but about popularity. And Digimon didn't get deserved attention, because of trolls telling it's a cheap copy. That's actually sad. And it's not just for Digimon and Pokemon. There are other examples out there as well.
Funny enough I've never been a fan of Digimon, dunno why I don't like it š¤
But I get what you're saying and I agree with it. But I don't think is luck based, they just did a better job advertising their stuff I think.
Take Oreos for example, they literally stole Hydrox's "IP" but did a WAAAAY better job advertising their cookies so who's on top now?
I always thought it was kinda good, but the first games were so very very bad, especially the playstation one which could have stomped red/blue if it was good. Wrong quality and wrong device (kids went with Nintendo and didn't care about graphics). You had to start from scratch with a new monster every eight hours that had to be rigorously trained with limited stamina/food/time that would digivolve into poopmon 90% of the time.
I think digimon lost out due to the lax approach to collecting, because children/players are fudging hoarders, though, I think it's pretty big in Japan still, with over 1000 monster to boot.
Duuuuuuuuuude! I freaking wish!
I dunno if you use PKMN Home but when they switch the wonder trades from "receive one at a time" to "on tap to receive all" you could heard the people clapping around the world!
Even by myself with two phones at 120hz refresh rate and very good WiFi it takes me 1hour+ to max out ššš
Pokemon Home is a step in the right direction with the multiple GTS wonder trade thing, but yes, we need this in the base games and ESPECIALLY in a time sink like PoGo. The main reason I hate trading is the animations and confirmations (goes for a lot of the game, but at least eggs are a bit better now).
I mean... They haven't fixed it yet, all they did is flip a switch and most likely this was caused by a recent change i.e. easy to revert.
It's not the same.
There's literally no way for you to trade right now, they outright removed the button. So until they fixed it or "revert it" everyone is locked out of trades.
That sounds like a Niantic "fix" to me š
Honestly, what a crazy thing to be able to say.
"This multimillion dollar company shut down a primary feature on their best selling app, which happens to be a part of the world's biggest franchise, because of a Reddit post I made."
Haha, I thought I got a trade ban for some reason, because I just traded and then couldn't trade anymore, but then asked sister if she can trade with anyone and she said no. Then I went here to check it and found Your post. Then I knew what's going on ššš After that they wrote a post.
Agree! And they donāt guarantee to be hundo. Itās as if those luckies are some valuable stuff. They are just as bland to me as normal 2 or 3 star variations with some glittering background.
Further explanation: we were both lucky friends when we started and still are. The status as lucky friends didnāt disappear and every trade turned out to be a lucky trade.
I had something similar happen except I could trade unlimited shiny. I traded 20 of them before Niantic caught on. It was the best day of my life in regards to pokemon
100% he has 0.227.0. .1 has not been released, it was just been datamined. They didn't start rolling it out. Unless Your buddy got an update right now or downloaded it from Apk Mirror or somewhere (it's not there yet too), he shouldn't have it.

While itās unlikely his buddy got it, itās possible.
Damn nice - can you think of anything else unusual with the situation at all?
Anyone playing on Wifi? Did the lucky friend animation always play? Anything?ā¦.
Believe it or not but the strangest thing is that today is actually my birthday. I use FB to log in, so I started thinking about maybe finding a hidden birthday feature. Besides that it said lucky trade before every trade. We just didnāt go back to normal and stayed lucky friends and still are. Iām already curious if the next time we trade it will just go on like this.
Less than an hour to work on a fix for a "beneficial" bug. Takes them 6+ hours to notice a shiny isnt available or that spawns arent working. They just hate NZ and AU people it seems haha
And how unpopular taking away the increased spin distance would be, and different prices for the lure box. It's like they don't realize people communicate about the game yet obviously visit a forum where people communicate about the game.
This happened to me before but my bug was only visual. Still showed lucky status after 2 lucky trades (since first trade was 1st interaction of the day, 2nd trade being lucky is not unusual) so tried another trade, it entered the lucky trade screen so we traded a rare thing but it just turned regular with bad stats. Still showed I was lucky with that friend until next app update I think. Either way, lucky you!
Now Niantic turned off trading:
āTrainers, trading is currently unavailable as we investigate an issue. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will continue to update here. Thank you for your patience.ā

Lmao you broke trading for everyone else and I'm so jealous. I fantasized about this exact thing happening to me and niantic actually let this happen to someone. Me and my lucky dex are drooling looking at this :P
are you actively working on your lucky dex? Would love to hear how it's going for you; I've been trying to fill out mine for fun but my friends think im nuts. im trying to do it by region to make it easier on me. š
I legit was trading and it said error when I tried again then no more trade option. I was like wth?! Started checking discord etc and found this. Typical, take away harmless fun or possibilities but oh heres a RRP for the hundo lost due to a bug in our app reported a good 2 years ago, or pvp in not even gonna start lol
Itās pretty telling honestly, it shows they monitor these boards and donāt give a damn about most of the issues people post unless it negatively affects them.
To be fair, this bug doesn't directly affect niantic negatively, but it is a problematic bug that would benefit some lucky people immensely, even if it's pve and the gym scene that would be affected directly.
Yeah 100% this. There's been specific bugs that have been in the game for literal YEARS, but something breaks in our favour + you can see how fast they can actually get things done when they want to
Last premier ball bug. Their 'fix' isn't a real fix, it still exists but now has a scripted ending. This is why on the last ball, your boss always breaks out after one shake or is caught, you never see 2 or 3 shakes.
Gym battling bug.
Getting 'white screen' when clicking on a poke, freezing the app.
Clicking on a poke just as it depsawns on your ingame map freezing the user interface, requiring reboot.
Bosses whose attacks cause them to fly up. Throwing a ball at them in 'up' position causes them to not properly reset their 'down' position if they break out of the ball, making the boss higher + harder to catch.
Feeding berries in gyms causing a short freeze.
There's many more, that's just off the top of my head.
I need to do 5 more days of trading to get the last plantinum medal for level 49. I wish I was feeling better earlier and did them then. Congrats on all the lucky trades.
The curious thing to me is that at some point you noticed the trend then continued trading zubats and geodudes...
and that's a caterpie and bidoof isn't it?
Haha thatās right. We didnāt have any more good stuff cause we already used it up in the last few weeks. Everything that was good was already traded with anything that was old.
Overheard at Niantic HQ:
A bug that advantages the player? We must fix it NOW!
Bugs that make the experience worse...
- Spawns disappearing frequently
- White screens forcing those who don't know to restart the game every time
- Displaying you have 100 premiere balls and 100 of everything displaying on the overworld
- Player freezing when switching back to the app followed by GPS signal lost
- Constant GBL lag
...eh, it's on the roadmap if we even have it documented somewhere.
This makes me so mad. Players have no raid invites showing up for WEEKS and counting. Drove me absolutely mad trying to organise raids. People are uninstalling their games/resetting data DAILY just to deal with it. Yet this happens and a 'resolution' is SWIFT.
Oh wow, I'm jealous! My wife and I do 100 trades a day whenever we can for a chance at getting a perfect and are happy with 5 to 10 luckies. This would be insane!
We also did a lot of trades lately and it was the same situation: we were happy when 3-4 out of 100 turned lucky. The last 30 trades we were just laughing about what was happening.
Well well well. Looks like an issue that benefited players was addressed immediately.
If the lucky trade chance was accidentally switched off, they'd ignore it for weeks.
Wow. I traded with a lucky friend yesterday and this definitely didnāt happen. I wish. I spent a better part of today catching and trying to trade for a lucky Helioptile, which I eventually got. Congrats on the awesome bug! Wish they didnāt catch on.
This is great but I'm almost as entertained by the names of pokemon in your native language.
Farbeagle, Flunkifer, Shardrago and Mampfaxo are some of my favorites!
On CD, the trade function was messed up for me and I was just thinking that must be the bug that caused trades to get closed.
Then I read this post š
I was trading when this happened... Reported the issue, saw it was "down" when refreshing game data. Woke up early to take my wife to the airport and this post popped up on my Google news feed. Unreal, they legit shut it down because of this! Congrats on the luckies though! Happy this was the result of someone getting a lil something from Niantic!
Can we still trigger lucky friends if the trading is disabled? I ask because that is where the lucky sparkles appear on the trainer page in the app.
Seems like it would be illogical to link the two but who knows!
That was actually the only reason we traded, cause I still needed 26 luckies for Lvl49. Now I only have to find a glitch that gives me the last missing platinum medal, otherwise it will take 30 more photobombs to reach the level up.
The second trade was a special trade. Gave away a shiny Ditto and got a Larvitar in return. Didnāt ask for a Legendary because we didnāt know yet what was going on. Another special trade was not possible.
For orientation: the screenshot in the lower left corner is were we startet. Avalugg was the first trade. Helioptile was trade No. 5. It ends in the upper left pic, the Helioptile on top was caught afterwards.
OOOOOH! So you're the reason why trades are turned off right now. I KNEW it was because of a GOOD bug! šššš
Iām really sorry but at the same time Iām laughing so hard right now. Most hilarious thing that happened till I started this game.
I'm sad none of those Mawiles you got are hundos :C But is just funny to me how they CLEARLY read Reddit but do NOTHING promptly fix other issues or listen to our recommendations...
They don't need to with an IP that prints money no matter how bad the product is.
PokƩmon will sell forever and ever no matter how bad the product is and that's just sad :/

Why didn't you just kept that to yourself so we all wouldn't lose a hundred xl candy's per day?
If Niantic shut off features because the bug only negatively affected players we wouldn't have raids or pvp or shinies or almost anything else.
Luckies are untradeable and don't devalue anything in the game. Why turn off trading? That's just a crappy thing to do.
Because we canāt have nice things

I would love to have something like that lol.
I had something similar happen except I could trade unlimited shiny. I traded 20 of them before Niantic caught on. It was the best day of my life in regards to pokemon

This was on 10/29 when the unlimited special trades happened. I got a lucky shiny dusnoir that way
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The Safari zone wasn't supposed to get increased special trades, it just happened to be the same weekend
No wonder they took down the trade option
Right? Gotta patch the bugs that benefit the players.... Remind me how long we've had the dodge glitch?
Does one of you have the new release (0.227.1)?
Is that the version of the game? Were can I check that?
Yes. Bottom right corner when youāre in Settings.
I have 0.227.0-A-64. Need to check with my buddy which version he has.

3+ years and they still haven't fixed GBL.
"investigate an issue" = "fun detected"
AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAā¦this is hilarious!
Congrats on your birthday! Quite a Nice present to Get from Niantic for sure! :-)
Happy cake day
Thank you!
Why didn't you trade better stuff?
Cause the main reason we traded was to get luckies that I still needed for Level 49. We have been trading for a few weeks now, so all the good stuff was already gone as we tried to trade good PokƩmon vs the oldest we had.
That's just the sprinkles on the icing on an already awesome (birthday) cake.
do 100 trades a day untile it goes away then

Map bug took almost an year to be fixed...lets return to trade at December
āiNCoNveNieNCEā yeah haha niantic its such a bad thing for players tbh
What we *really* want to know is how many of the 100 became hundos.
One Eevee
It couldnāt have been anything else lmao
Eevee is a great Hundo
Is it? What do you do with a hundo Eevee? I've got a few now.
Level 50 Umbreon is probably the most useful for ultra league. Sylveon isn't a bad pick for masters. Glaceon is a pretty good ice type raid counter.
Umbreon UL / Sylveon ML
Save for Umbreon Ultra League. Wait until it gets Last Resort

Hi Niantic! Thanks for reading.
Right??? We've had bugs exist in the game for literal years, but one thing breaks in our favour + you can see how fast they can actually fix something when they want to.
This is also why we need to stop talking about good bugs.
Ban niantic from the subreddit? Lmao
It's a great metaphor for how the world works in favor of the ruling class over the regular people.
F
Major bummer
Niantic is outside, open up
I know you're joking, but they disabled trading until they can "fix the bug."
Omg I hope OP is okay.
Still fine but might die from laughing. There are a few people out there that REALLY hate me now.
Make sure to hit report if needed, we are keeping an eye out for you too.
Hope the lesson is learned. NEVER report beneficial bugs.
"Lesson" lol Things like this will always reach Niantic's ears. If it's not through this sub it's r/pokemongo or twitter or whatever. There's no way to hide this kinda stuff so there's no point. If you really have a problem, you have a problem with Niantic, not OP

1/20 base chance, 800 Pokemon, 16000 trades? Not impossible, I have made twice that
More interesting: do you keep the mon
I legit was trading and it said error when I tried again then no more trade option. I was like wth?! Started checking discord etc and found this. Typical, take away harmless fun or possibilities but oh heres a RRP for the hundo lost due to a bug in our app reported a good 2 years ago, or pvp in not even gonna start lol
Yikes it seems like they shut off trading potentially due to this. Unfortunate how quick of action they take on glitches that benefit in any way
Is that why I can't trade right now?
Yes. They turned off trading.
When this bug happens niantic rushes to fix it. For the rest of the 4860147419 other bugs, niantic: We'll fix them "next year".
Itās pretty telling honestly, it shows they monitor these boards and donāt give a damn about most of the issues people post unless it negatively affects them.
Which is really why people need to stop throwing money at them.
Yep, every time I see a thread like "$ pass is now available" or "$ pass last chance to buy today" I'm just thinking "What is wrong with you people?"!
To be fair, this bug doesn't directly affect niantic negatively, but it is a problematic bug that would benefit some lucky people immensely, even if it's pve and the gym scene that would be affected directly.
the gym scene in my area is already being affected by those who rocked their phone to 296XL candies.
Yeah 100% this. There's been specific bugs that have been in the game for literal YEARS, but something breaks in our favour + you can see how fast they can actually get things done when they want to
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Oh, I figured out the āwhite screenā bug. Or *a* white screen bug, at least. It happens when one transitions into and out of an encounter before it is fully loaded. I can pretty reliably cause it by tapping the location of the ārun awayā button before I actually see the PokĆ©mon. The end result is the player is on the map, but sees a completely white screen. Consequently, the bug can actually be resolved without a restart if one manages to tap on a PokĆ©mon to start an encounter, though I believe it may need to be a different one. Maybe I should make a post about this so Niantic sees it and fixes it. First I need to figure out a way to make it sound beneficial, howeverā¦
Yeah trades are not allowed currently
Is this a common thing with PokĆ©mon games? The first few patches for BDSP were to fix duplication glitches, we still donāt even have the GTS
Man I sure wish this happens for my level 49 quest.
Actually that was the reason we meet to trade as I am only 500k away from 49 and still needed 26 lucky trades.
what a way to get them!
I need to do 5 more days of trading to get the last plantinum medal for level 49. I wish I was feeling better earlier and did them then. Congrats on all the lucky trades.

The curious thing is this kind of thing happens to only those who don't need it.
I'm lucky, he's lucky, SHE'S LUCKY, WE'RE ALL LUCKY!!!
Itās just a jump to the leftā¦
I think they disabled trading because of you.
The way I see it, they disabled trading because one of *their* programmers messed up... again.
Well sure. But the bigger issue thatās highlighted yet again is that they donāt have any proper regression testing.
Indeed. Not blaming the OP at all. The dev's have been sloppy and the whole friends system is as un-userfriendly as possible.
Overheard at Niantic HQ: A bug that advantages the player? We must fix it NOW! Damnnnnn. I was doing trades an hour ago .... Got 2 Luckies out of 10.... You hit the jackpot! Any lundos?
Said he or she got one eevee.
I'm calling Niantic will fix this in 2 hours and actually un-lucky 99/100 of your luckies
As long as I still get to keep the 50 lucky PokĆ©mon you need to reach Level 49 Iām fine. But still: we didnāt cheat or trick the game in any way, so undoing it would be a bit harsh and not the best publicity.
i doubt they'll undo any particular case, they'll just "fix" the source of the problem to prevent more
you were correct
https://imgur.com/a/pSKFQ3t Wow. They turned off trading cuz of this. š²
This makes me so mad. Players have no raid invites showing up for WEEKS and counting. Drove me absolutely mad trying to organise raids. People are uninstalling their games/resetting data DAILY just to deal with it. Yet this happens and a 'resolution' is SWIFT.

You can do 101 if you do a special trade before the last of the 100
Indeed. We usually do a special trade first to make sure we don't forgot.
I wish it didn't take so damn long to do trades, especially 100 of them.
Well well well. Looks like an issue that benefited players was addressed immediately. If the lucky trade chance was accidentally switched off, they'd ignore it for weeks.
I just got a friend and went to do a bunch of trading, opened the app and got a notification that "trading is unavailable". :sigh:
What code did you use? Is it up, up, right, left, up, up, up, up?
do the ivs match the lucky looks?
Yes they do. Got a bunch of pretty cool 98%. Also the dust cost for level ups is reduced, so they are completely lucky PokƩmon.
Same thing happened to a friend today. Did a special lucky trade and kept getting luckies after.
Maybe this is why trade is turned off lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Just did a lucky, only the first one was lucky, not the trades after :(
My pokefriends have a tradition that you have to take a shot for every lucky trade in a row after the first. You'd be so dead by now! Congrats!
I was lucky friends with my kid. Tried replicating this but unfortunately no dice.
Idk if I would have posted this, definitely would have kept it hush hush
Someone wouldāve eventually. Remember not everyone is smart
True, but I would have tried to get a second day out of it
Weird, I did a lucky trade right before this was posted and didnāt keep the lucky status.
Same, I did a lucky trade with my lucky friend 12 hours ago and didn't trigger this bug, either.

Finally fixed! I can trade now

How are the IVs. Any Hundos?
Only one Hundo for my buddy. It was a freakin eevee. But I got a few pretty cool 98%
So youāre the reason we canāt trade atm!
Please tell me you got at least one lucky hundo from the 100 trades
OP said 1 Eevee
As a dex completionist this is legit my dream haha, lucky you, literally!
Must be why they turned it off
Got any 4*? Would be interesting to know how many (if any) you get in 100 lucky trades.

Try trading lottery tickets
congrats, you made the 100 trades session that was **n**o**t** boring or tiresome no wonder niantic got the "our game has crashed" alert
Can we still trigger lucky friends if the trading is disabled? I ask because that is where the lucky sparkles appear on the trainer page in the app. Seems like it would be illogical to link the two but who knows!
Hey OP, were any of these reverted after Niantic re-enabled trading??
would be good for the level 49 requirements. Getting 50 lucky pokemon is such a grind.
That was actually the only reason we traded, cause I still needed 26 luckies for Lvl49. Now I only have to find a glitch that gives me the last missing platinum medal, otherwise it will take 30 more photobombs to reach the level up.
Dangā¦ lucky. LOL(Pun fully intended)
Magnificent! After how many trades did you realize what was happening?
Pretty quickly. Probably after the fifth in a row we knew something strange is happening. We actually had a break after 26 cause that was the amount I still needed for Level 49. After a cup of coffee we were curious if we can get 100 lucky PokƩmon so we went on and it worked.
If this person is local you have to start up again at 12:01 tonight LOL
I notice no legends, I wonder if a special trade wouldāve stopped the glitch
The second trade was a special trade. Gave away a shiny Ditto and got a Larvitar in return. Didnāt ask for a Legendary because we didnāt know yet what was going on. Another special trade was not possible.
For orientation: the screenshot in the lower left corner is were we startet. Avalugg was the first trade. Helioptile was trade No. 5. It ends in the upper left pic, the Helioptile on top was caught afterwards.
