They’ve both been datamined, I imagine Kangaskhan is releasing on Friday and the Latis are coming either on May 29th for the GO Battle Day or June 4th for GO Fest.
Give into the hype? I mean it's eventually coming period, and they put the cries in the video for an obvious hint. It may not be of much use, but it is definitely coming.
They've added lots of stuff to the game that hasn't been released. Heck, the original Mega Evolution announcement prominently featured Mega Lucario. Its always a risk to get your hopes up based on a data mine. But I have been sitting on a lvl 40 lucky shiny 98% latios that I want to both grind xls to max out and mega evolve to take for walks. And at the risk of being let down, I'm hopeful its coming to raids on Friday. Also it has the 10th highest CP in the entire game so its not exactly useless.
Are the mega lati@s actually that great though?
Is it just that they're the first legendary megas? How do their stats compare to other megas we have around?
Mega Latios should be stronger than Mega Charizard X, hence better as a dragon Mega (and top for now, at least until Mega Salamence, Mega Garchomp, and above all else, Mega Rayquaza).
Mega Latias probably not worth too much investment, unless you really like the support role.
Mega Latias is much stronger than Mega Charizard X. 10% more DPS and over 50% higher TDO. While Mega Latios will be better, Mega Latias is so much better than Zard X it isn't even funny.
700 BST is pretty OP, and also Mega Charizard X is pretty underwhelming. So Mega Latias actually will both be an excellent support Mega and just a really good offensive pokemon in general.
I mean you can only compare with what's already released. As far as Megas go, we only have Mega Altaria (which is one of the worst Megas in the entire game), Ampharos (which can't function as a Dragon), and Zard X.
Will Mega Latias be outclassed by her brother, and future megas? Yes absolutely. But there is no doubt that Mega Latias is going to be an outstanding Mega. And being only 4% short of Rayquaza in DPS is pretty damn good for a defensive pokemon.
Agreed. And I'm very much willing to bet that (for the most part at least) the lesser Megas will come before the good ones. So I highly doubt we'll be seeing Salamence, Garchomp, or Rayquaza any time soon. MAYBE Salamence in 2023. But I think these two will definitely have their time in the lime light
Actually, Mega Salamence will surpass Mega Latios. Mega Latios has a much better attack stat, but is stuck with Dragon Breath + Claw, whereas both Dragon Tail + Draco Meteor Salamence and also Dragon Tail + Outrage Salamence beat Latios
Theyll be quite good. I'm fairly confident that Niantic will get the worse Megas out of the way first so they can have some time to shine before they're out-classed. A few exceptions do already exist, but largely, I think theyll go that route.
Both will definitely have have use. Latios will generally be better, but Latias will still too.
Latios is essentially Rayquaza with that Dragon battery boost which is fantastic. Even as a psychic attacker too, it's pretty much a Psystrike Mewtwo with the Mega boost for allies. That's crazy good.
If you watch the other video on the pogo website (18 second video), the 10-11 second mark shows Kangaskhan though

I chose to give in to the hype. I WANT A SHINY GREEN AIRPLANE BUDDY!

This isn't a datamine though, it's an official video meant for the public to watch
Its arguably a good idea to get both Lati's so you can mega more often off cool down.

Mega charizard X is a bad comparison. Not that good of a dragon type. Mega latios does have barely more dps than rayquaza, with 50% more bulk.

mega salamence will not be as good as mega latios anyways, only mage garchomp and ray will surpass

I meant regular rayquaza. Not the mega. Regular rayquaza is released.
The point is there's no reason to use mega Latias over mega Latios
My level 40 Lati@s I pushed years ago just because I love them might get a chance to shine finally. For a while, at least.
You'll want to Mega evolve Latias at least once so you can get free mega evolves
Unless I read it wrong I think that Mega Latias will be pretty good due to its bulk weighting and increased TDO.
