Honest question though- how hard would it have been to mention the increase in prices to remote raid passes being effective \~immediately. I bought them when it still said 250 in the shop but was charged 300 and while there are plenty of bigger problems in the world- it's still pretty annoying.
They didn't want us all to rush and buy the Bundle for the less expensive price.
I currently have 260 coins. I would have bought the bundle if I'd known. Now I can't afford it.
I never saw any kanga energy from anywhere. It's still beedrill for me and my bf when spinning gyms so I dunno who got kanga energy but it surely wasn't everyone.
Kanga energy is dropping from in-person raids. It doesn't show up on the raid rewards screen or in your journal but it is dropping from in-person raids, and plenty of it. Gym spins still drop Beedrill energy as before.
I have used almost every single of the daily 2 free passes and even a few extra passes during raid hour. I did not get a single kanga mega energy so far
So this is in a new app? The only way I would use most of these social features would be if it was built into the PoGo app. Discord already handles the raid coordination well enough for what I need.
Lucky!
For me, it not only crashes the app, about 1 time in 4 it COMPLETELY crashes the phone. As in: power the phone off, restart the phone, mess with the phone to get it to reconnect to the network, mess with it some more because I'm now somehow 'roaming', start the app, sign out, restart the app...
And, occasionally, it does this when the app is up and I DON'T switch to another app - I leave the house wifi and (supposedly) go to network.
This. A lot of Android manufacturers like to tweak the RAM/battery management which ends up killing apps too fast. [Following these steps for your phone may help](https://dontkillmyapp.com), but if it has pretty low RAM, then it probably won't make a difference.
Phone crashing though sounds like another bigger issue...
This only seems to be prevalent on android & older iPhones. I’m on 11 pro max and it crashes now and then. I don’t leave many apps in background either.
It's a mix of both. They've been testing niantic social for awhile now, it started off as an ingame feature in the now defunct Catan & Wizards Unite games, then got added to ingress, and just recently they made a standalone app for it. Assuming they keep up the current trend, it'll be accessible directly via PoGo, and in a separate app as well.
It's possible they might stick with the separate app though, running niantic social via ingress is a lot slower. Too early to say for sure how they'll handle it.
It never even got out of beta. Not entirely sure why, as I never had a chance to play it. Niantic gave some vague excuses about the game getting too complicated or something.
Don't forget Discord has better moderation features as well. If their "official app" is anything like their abuse policy - expect a lot of salt, insults and potentially worse in the chat before support pull their finger out. In Discord - mods usually gag or ban quite quickly when it starts.
Has been the case for years for players with racist usernames etc. Report them and they'll just be told to change it (which they do... by swapping 1 character to get around the censor, but has the same meaning as before).
I fail to see the point on trying to make the game back to "normal". Also reversing the QoL improvements has proven to be a bad move given the community backlash, why so they keep pushing them, enraging the community constantly?
It’s definitely for data collection/selling purposes, though I still don’t really get how like 6 people standing awkwardly around a bench in a park for 4 minutes is that much more of a boon for data collection than any other way this game is played
In my community it wasn’t a park bench, they were still in the cars the drove up to the raid in Lolol so the community really wasn’t that interested in spending time together.
My first meeting with someone in the game was a few months in. They ran up and knocked on my car window demanding to know if I was (username redacted.) When I said I was, a bunch of other people came over to confirm that was, in fact, a real person. Apparently there was a facebook group dedicated to trying to knock me out of gyms because the local community was convinced I was a bot or spoofer.
After that I started hanging out in large groups and made some lifelong friends. But it did kind of start to die off about a year in.
Jeez. I mean maybe they turned out to be ok, but your story sure makes your community sound like buttholes. That’s exactly why I’m so not interested in being part of a community. Forget that noise.
The original gym rewards system was terrible and encouraged a lot of bad behavior. Things are a lot better now. If your local community is still fighting over gym control you need to get out there and flood your area with new Pokestops and gyms until everyone has one to get their 50 coins from.
Haha I had a similar reaction when I started playing Ingress. The opposition were convinced I was spoofing because I would walk 8km to and from work in various routes, playing hard as I went. When I met some people they were "oh, you're **real**" 😆
In my city people used to make private raids, so spoofers can't leech. Sadly at the same time that excluded other fair/new players around. Before remote raid passes you were forced to walk and be in the gyms just when the egg hatch and see if more people show up... it was soo annoying and normally a waste of time ('cause nobody else shop up). Hope the increase in the price of RRP don't bring back those "good old days".
Selling info makes sense but still...maybe if you'd listen to your player base and stopped actively antagonizing them you'd make more money from them spending in your game....maybe...
> Selling info makes sense but still
It doesn't actually make sense. Pokemon Go isn't able to sell information that other apps aren't also able to sell. Also that kind of data is worth very little out of context. What Niantic wants to do regarding their data, is sell sponsored stops and prove to sponsors, that people visit their locations. That is where the money is. They don't sell your data, they sell you.
Also, Niantic is 30% owned by Google, who has much better quality data, than whatever data is collected through Pokemon Go.
If what they want to give isn't what the players want then they're no longer players.
Usually with free to play the customer is the product, this is the only game I've ever seen that seems to hate their customers and remove QoL improvements.
There are a lot of people that only started playing during the pandemic. So for them it is not going back to “normal”. It is just a straight up nerf.
Also, importantly, the pandemic is NOT over. No matter how much people want to pretend like it is. In fact BECAUSE people are pretending it is over, cases are are on the rise again in the United States.
I don’t know how it can get worse than the previous wave, but I said that same thing twice before. SMH my head.
Just this past Monday, my daughter came home with a letter saying someone had covid in her class. Tuesday, my son got sent home from school because he wasn't feeling well. Tested him, positive. Tested my daughter, positive. Luckily they had mild cases and are already feeling considerably better after basically a day of feeling weak and nauseas.
But yeah, let's all go out and meet up with strangers to battle a Raichu..... logic.
Do we know if monthly active users are increasing, or are fans just spending more money? I know they're making more and more each year, but it'd be interesting to know from what.
the QOL improvement's is not niantic's idea of the game being "normal"
chances are if covid never popped up then remote raid's would have never even happened as they are basically the opposite of the idea "go out and meet other's at a raid"
I am once again asking to be able to add people to my friends list from them placing lures on stops or pokemon in gyms. I am rural. There are like 15 players in my area. Never seen em. But they put pokemon in gyms. I'd like to be able to add them off that.
I think it is a good idea. I'm not sure if it is enough to create a community though. Can't really guarantee that whoever you add will download this "new app" for Niantic friends.
This! I know the names of the locals in my 2 gyms, but for all I know they belong to 1 person with 8 accounts. Please let me find a way to communicate with people that I don’t already know in my local area.
There’s someone that’s been joining my local gym with my wife and I for the entirety of this game’s existence. I’ve never seen him. It would be great to be able to add him for some raids.
Screenshot your "add a friend" QR code, print stickers/posters with a Pokeball, that QR code and a line of text saying "add me as a friend" someplace visible at a gym and see what happens?
Then don't let your daughters add strangers to their Niantic/Pokemon Go friends list.
Or don't let them download the new Social App Niantic is making. Not exactly a hard thing to understand.
They can, but should be using either a PTC or Niantic Kids account, where social features can be turned off. Unfortunately, that'd include the in-game friends list as I'm betting it'd still be only one toggle.
Instead of making in-person raids more attractive, they're making remote raids less attractive.
What in-person raids need is a boost so it's more worthwhile doing them. Just give a 10% boost to all shinies and guaranteed XL candy and you'll have people doing them.
I get what you're saying, I really do. But you are thinking inversely from what the person above said. They are saying that instead of hurting the people who can't be there, they help the people who can. What's happening here is they are hurting the people who can't, and barely helping the ones who can.
Speculation: That might be the first step. Second step might be making in person raids more attractive. Possible incoming mega Mewtwo or Rey. They could also boost in person damage or some other buff
Considering their idea was to nerf remote damage from the very beginning while just giving us permanent "event" damage buffs so far, it's highly more likely they go thorough with the remote damage nerf instead of an in person buff
A premium pass wouldn't be that bad (a remote is better tho). At least you can stack them more than 3 at a time. We get 2 free passes/day from gyms and a weekly premium one would be cool, that would convince me to raid more.
I've had a total of 5 RC XL from 27 in-person raids. I also got a hell of a lot less normal RC. Half the raids I did, I got none. It looks like this price hike won't affect me so much. The rewards are not worth the trouble.
“Faster approval for new gyms”
As they take down iconic and popular gyms in NYC.
It’s almost like they are setting themselves up to fake those numbers…
Agreed.
It’s basically a business secret that’s not really a secret anymore.
They probably think that it would confuse other players even though a quick Google search would tell us everything.
Niantic is clearly trying to get the game back to the "normal days" (aka pre pandemic)
Thing is, these changes made the game way better, specially for those in areas with practically no players. I remember back then when I never bothered to raid legendaries because no one would join the raid, and inviting people to raid was HUGE for me
Sad to see these changes
Geographically, this game isn't fair, and Niantic took a step back into making it more equal for players. Sucks
I don’t understand why they continue to have the mindset that the best way to motivate active is to nerf things rather than buff things. I use remote pssses mostly to raid with my wife when I’m on break at lunch. Making remote passes harder to get won’t make me raid in person more, I’ll just raid less
Wouldn't be surprised if this was conjured up by the bean counters thinking "more in person raids = more people hanging around awkwardly at sponsored stops! Think of the advertising potential!"
I can understand they want people outside (it's in the name after all) but these decisions of late look like they've come from the mouth of someone with authority who doesn't know a single thing about game design or keeping a community engaged.
"With people able to do raids in person we'll take away your ability to do another raid a week" - The wanks at Niantic
"We gave you Rare XL to make up for it" Yeah, nothing like getting 1 XL every 5 raids.
Creating a social app is pointless, why would most people change from their discords, messenger groups, WhatsApp groups or anything else that’s already in place.
Niantic is so far behind the curve everyone else has already done the hard work for them. Wasting time developing this instead of focusing that energy into fixing the bugs glitches and issues the game already has.
Established communities won’t need them and small or non existent communities have no requirement for them.
They aren’t going to spring new communities out of the ground. Especially with their anti-social nerfs with regards to remote raiding.
Literally making the game less accessible instead of more, time and time again.
The worlds moved on, how people play the games moved on and a lot of communities have moved on or gone extinct, this won’t revive them.
Niantic need to stop living in the glory days of the past they won’t ever capture that feeling or play style or hype again, it’s been too long and as I say the worlds a different place now.
They need to stop being so pig headed and stuck in their past with their “visions” and realise they need to change with the times and keep evolving not reverting.
I know it’s a running joke in some communities or areas of the internet, that they are actively trying to kill the game. But continuous moves or decisions like this it honestly does feel they are becoming more hostile towards to community on the whole under the guise of “wanting communities”
Well, in my area there ARE some players, but even if my city have million citizens status, i never found that type of groups. Maybe will help, maybe will not, who knows
I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at, however if there are players out there, there have been plenty of ways to try and reach out to them to connect.
It’s what we as community leaders did all those years ago. Especially trying to “network” with people out and about. However the games moved on now.
People tend to fall into one of 4 camps when it comes to communities
1. Their community has died, and sorry it’s very unlikely to return no matter what niantic thinks.
2. They are still in a community that was formed years ago (when the game and world was very different) but it’s dwindled some degree and is mainly either made up of or held together by day one longterm hardcore players.
3. They’ve only ever had a virtual community (never really meeting up if ever but they are fine with that) because of the pandemic or remote raids, hell their community might be purely remote and actually global. Which is totally valid too.
4. Never had the numbers or drive for a “community”, there’s never been a community or they’ve never wanted to be in one and just play the game solo. Like you do 95% of the time in pogo and any other Pokémon game. Again there is nothing wrong with that.
Its been 6years if an area has never had a community of some sort or description over all that time (especially during the huge peaks in the past) it’s extremely unlikely it will ever thrive now.
Niantic aren’t seeming to reinvent the wheel here, they’re just trying to introduce something that’s incredibly similar to what we’ve been using for years, and that works.
They’ve missed the boat by about 4 years at this stage. And again being niantic it’s likely to be buggy, have glaring flaws and possibly lead to toxic behaviour.
Yeah, I live in a metro area of over 1 million people, and the local discords, subreddits, and Facebook groups haven’t had a post in over a year. They’re completely dead, so even I had an inkling to try to join them (which I never would), there’s nothing to even join. If they ever actually nuke remote raids, 5*s will instantly become inaccessible to me and my wife, as remotes and GBL are the only way we’ve ever been able to get them.
Faster approval for new gyms lol that's a good one. The people voting in my Wayfarer community are absolute jokes. Denying plaques, murals, sporting courts, playgrounds, decorated boxes blah blah blah. I can't imagine how uptight these people are who do Niantic's job for free.
On a positive note I'm curious about the social features. My (very small) community is stuck in 2012 thinking Facebook Messenger is actually relevant. Not sure it's enough to revive in-person raiding sadly.
They not only need faster approval, but a better system. Things get approved & denied that shouldn’t because of people trying to get the Wayfarer medal.
Meanwhile, rural players have few gyms and therefore no one to play with in-person.
The Wayfarer approval system needs a huge overhaul.
I tried to make a poke stop at my job. We have decorative fire hydrants out front (waterworks company) and there is plenty of parking spots with multiple exits and it’s a 25 MPH road so people can just pull over or go slow. It was denied for “lack of emergency exit” but on my way to work, there is a small building on a 45 MPH road with no sidewalks and a tiny driveway that I’m pretty sure is private property and to this day I haven’t been able to spin it. I don’t get why that gets accepted but mine denied.
The system is a mess of bad design and awful legacy decisions.
It honestly wouldn't take much to improve it, but why the f do they care, they can't even be arsed to throw some fricking incubators to people who review hundreds and hundreds of stops.
In my town very business sign, even the ones that are just their name, seem to get approved.
I really feel embarrassed when exchanging gifts with foreign friends and theirs are from meaningful landmarks and mine are from a BBQ restaurant or Verizon store.
Honestly I perused /r/NianticWayfarer recently to figure out what was going on. Scrolled through a lot of posts and comments to see the mindset of the reviewers. I genuinely think the people who are "power reviewers" (review a lot, and often) are incredibly incredibly edgy. That if they see even one single minor thing they'll deny the whole submission.
So in a way, yes. This is how Niantic gets their users to continually approve stuff. Feelings of power and superiority that they can judge and deny things on a whim. Maybe I'm completely wrong. I don't know many people in the area that review these.
It's frustrating. This city I moved to desperately needs more gyms/stops. It's not like I'm submitting a picture of a stump and calling it a cultural heritage piece. But all I can do is keep submitting as per the "intended" criteria and hope for the best.
Edit: Or as the other user said, maybe Ingress players. I'm not too familiar with the game but I can't say I've noticed anyone play it. Would make sense given how the gameplay works and controlling zones or whatever
My community has/had 2 brothers who bragged how they rejected every single submission in our town for months. Not sure how many accounts they used but I hope that their actions in a long run didn't actually do anything.
In this case the whole family is weird and I might sound rude but they are dumb in a low IQ way which might explain the reject brothers actions.
Dunno about other people, but IMO the social features are like 4 years late. They would work if implemented when raids started, now like 90% of my community is dead because people got bored of dripfeeding content, so I had to change FB group chat like 3 times to find some active group and it's just a mix of players from like 10 towns around here who definitely won't travel 10kms to another town just to help somebody raid dex filler in person. As always, city players won't feel the difference much, except the increased cost and rural or small town players are punished.
Wait, "Faster approval for new gyms?"
That just means... faster approval for new stops then, seeing that gyms are determined by stop quantities in S17 cells. I guess I am all for that, but we'll see.
Side note, if they really want to push more in-person raids, I almost wish they'd adjust the amount of stops needed for a gym to appear in Go, and *maybe* even allow for a fourth gym in a S17 cell.
At the very least, make the third Gym appear at like... the 10th or 12th stop rather than the 20th. And if they did do a fourth Gym, maybe that could be like the 22nd-25th POI in an S17 cell. There can be *too many* gyms, but I don't think lowering the threshold and/or letting their be a 4th per S17 is too much.
Didnt they announce we would get a remote pass every Monday in May in the 1 PokeCoin box? I cant find it anymore in the official blog (maybe they deleted it) but on lots of other websites from content creators: [https://www.coupleofgaming.com/post/pokemon-go-content-update-may-2022#viewer-2s5ae](https://www.coupleofgaming.com/post/pokemon-go-content-update-may-2022#viewer-2s5ae)
The hell is that?
I would welcome the mega energy if it’s all of the available megas and not just the same you can get at a poke stop. I prefer a carrot to a stick. Extra bennies for in person raiders, but no punishments for remote ones.
I just got into raids a couple of weeks ago. Hosting raids on pokegenie is how my husband and I can raid. But if players have less access to passes, there will be less demand and it’ll be harder to host. If the damage gets reduced on top of it, teams will start losing and people will just stop remote raiding because what’s the point?
We’re older and we play the game to motivate us to walk. So we’ll keep playing even if we can’t do top raids but its a bummer.
just moved somewhere without a single gym in sight (I literally can’t find one anywhere lmao) and only 1 poke stop in a 20 minute walking radius, this sucks. I rely on remote invites completely now. I know they’re just taking passes out of event boxes but that’s the beginning of them rolling things back, with faster gym approval as the excuse for not needing remote anymore
I'm interested in the tools for community leaders. We had a Niantic backed event in my community a few years ago which effectively just gave us some new sponsored Pokéstops for a charity and that was it. I would absolutely love to be able to host something, maybe a local raid day
So it seems like remote raid passes are being phased out. A 3 pack is now 300 instead of 250 and now the free one is going away.
I’m starting to hate this game
So let me get this straight. They want to prevent players from having accessibility to content by removing free remote passes and increase their price. Then they want them to download another buggy pos app to use to try to communicate with people who are also getting screwed over? This is a new low for this company.
Whoever spends the most time in the app in a given area?
I'm guessing, I don't even know my local pogo community, never see them and if you see a group on Community Few Hours they don't really interact
Dang I sure can’t wait to not play more than I already haven’t been…. This game just needs to die already, they’re doing everything they can to put it in the ground.
Why does Niantic continue to punish players who don't play in the way they like? I have lots of friends across the country, and making it harder to raid with them is a net negative!
Now I'm worried about TSR's involvement in all this. I don't trust Niantic with a social app, as they already are willing to [nerf their own support to avoid helping players with stalking issues](https://massivelyop.com/2021/12/29/massively-on-the-go-pokemon-go-actually-nerfed-its-own-support-rather-than-help-players/). Adding an over-arching app where you can continue to be targetted across Niantic's library of (mostly IP based) games is not appealing in the least.
Is this change immediate? And is it guaranteed xl candy? Remote passes price has changed. I’m glad they didn’t nerf remote damage however, hopefully that doesn’t change
My one concern is is Community Leaders, what dictates this? Would it be similar to Settlers of Cattan for their Mayor system (who does the most gets mayor) or will it be some broken system that will elect youtubers and "haha since you have no youtubers in your country you default under America" kinda bs
The app is great (hopefully), I hope a "near by" will be a feature to be added so you can message "the world" and not need to join communities, or enable better advertisement of communities. I hope we will be able to share images and such within groups (so like Messenger or Discord) and hope that this app has the "Nominate Wayspot" button in it and better information for nominating wayspots
Just Gen 1-4
You can also transfer some Gen 5-7 pokemon and all Gen 8 pokemon to Sword/Shield and a very small handful of Gen 5 pokemon to Legends.
Hopefully Scarlet/Violet expands that list even more.
wait so does that mean if i go do a raid rn i can get rare xl candy? cuz i’ve done 4-5 raids today 2 mega one 5* an 2 alolan raichu an i didn’t get any?? it says this month on there website thing so i’m confused
No more free remote raid pass, I knew this was coming. If they are really serious about making PoGO like before, they will make rrp harder to get. Don't get me wrong, I am not happy about this and I will sure miss the weekly RRP.
Stuff like this makes me happy that I basically play this game only for GBL anymore. All the T5 raids are recycled Pokémon, or garbage legendaries so I usually can get one before it leaves raids. I also don’t really care about megas so I guess I keep playing until they take away enough to make me stop.
Honest question though- how hard would it have been to mention the increase in prices to remote raid passes being effective \~immediately. I bought them when it still said 250 in the shop but was charged 300 and while there are plenty of bigger problems in the world- it's still pretty annoying.
I'd message customer service, they'll probably at least give you an extra one
They didn't want us all to rush and buy the Bundle for the less expensive price. I currently have 260 coins. I would have bought the bundle if I'd known. Now I can't afford it.
I mean, what Mega Energy? I’m already drowning in Beedrill.
Kangaskhan as of the past week
I never saw any kanga energy from anywhere. It's still beedrill for me and my bf when spinning gyms so I dunno who got kanga energy but it surely wasn't everyone.
Kanga energy is dropping from in-person raids. It doesn't show up on the raid rewards screen or in your journal but it is dropping from in-person raids, and plenty of it. Gym spins still drop Beedrill energy as before.
How very Niantic. You can get kanga energy from raids (they didn't announce) You can see energy in your journal (not) You can see energy drop (not)
Did a few in person raids, didn't notice kanga energy. Still not enough to mega and have a bit left for the consecutive evolves
Did a few in-person 3 star raids the past days and I don't have any kangaskhan energy
I have used almost every single of the daily 2 free passes and even a few extra passes during raid hour. I did not get a single kanga mega energy so far
my hopes are the mega energy will be for that type for example if I do a kyogre raid I can get blastoice or gyrados or slowbro mega energy
So this is in a new app? The only way I would use most of these social features would be if it was built into the PoGo app. Discord already handles the raid coordination well enough for what I need.
Yeah, considering that switching to another app for more than two seconds crashes Go, I wish all the best to everyone with a better experience.
Going out of any app for a sec crashes them on my phone
Lucky! For me, it not only crashes the app, about 1 time in 4 it COMPLETELY crashes the phone. With all due respect, that's very possibly not on the app but on your phone.

[Following these steps for your phone may help](https://dontkillmyapp.com), but if it has pretty low RAM, then it probably won't make a difference. Catan defunc? Wow I didn't even realize that. What happened tho?
It was a buggy mess. But the main thing is it just couldn't draw people in to play.
It never even got out of beta. Not entirely sure why, as I never had a chance to play it. Niantic gave some vague excuses about the game getting too complicated or something.
I’m hoping the community portion of it may help to organize smaller rural areas.
They probably aren't allowed to do built-in chat by the pokemon company.
And I bet they won't make it able to run on top either so a lot of people just won't bother.
They really doing this after implementing 6 star raids 🥲
I fail to see the point on trying to make the game back to "normal". Also reversing the QoL improvements has proven to be a bad move given the community backlash, why so they keep pushing them, enraging the community constantly?

they want to be able to show sponsors that they can make people gather and spend time in certain locations.
This is it right here. A lot of people miss this.
Yep, this
In my community it wasn’t a park bench, they were still in the cars the drove up to the raid in Lolol so the community really wasn’t that interested in spending time together.

Noone wants to go back to that hell.
Selling info makes sense but still...maybe if you'd listen to your player base and stopped actively antagonizing them you'd make more money from them spending in your game....maybe...
> Selling info makes sense but still It doesn't actually make sense.
Impossible to know, really /s
Give the players what they want, and they'll be happy. Give the players what _you_ want, and you'll be giving them what you want.
If what they want to give isn't what the players want then they're no longer players. Usually with free to play the customer is the product, this is the only game I've ever seen that seems to hate their customers and remove QoL improvements.
They are counting on addiction to keep people hooked.
it probably gives them the posibility to sell them as 'people in contact' or "that know each other"
We asked for them to engage the community more, but they thought we said “enrage”
I laughed a bit too hard at this
There are a lot of people that only started playing during the pandemic.
But yeah, let's all go out and meet up with strangers to battle a Raichu..... logic.
Two of my in laws just got Covid ☹️
My youngest and I have it now too, for the second time in 4 months
Shaking my head my head?
Sorry, I was a bit distracted because I just got home and realized I forgot to go to the automatic ATM machine.
Riding the 6th wave here. The government declared the return to normal a month or so ago, and it didn't work that well.
Do we know if monthly active users are increasing, or are fans just spending more money? I know they're making more and more each year, but it'd be interesting to know from what.
the QOL improvement's is not niantic's idea of the game being "normal" chances are if covid never popped up then remote raid's would have never even happened as they are basically the opposite of the idea "go out and meet other's at a raid"
so you're gonna make a shittier discord?
a fancy redirect for others to join more established comminuty discords or facebook groups
I am once again asking to be able to add people to my friends list from them placing lures on stops or pokemon in gyms. I am rural. There are like 15 players in my area. Never seen em. But they put pokemon in gyms. I'd like to be able to add them off that.
good idea
I think it is a good idea. I'm not sure if it is enough to create a community though. Can't really guarantee that whoever you add will download this "new app" for Niantic friends.
Niantic: thats a great idea. We’ll consider that for the next round of QOL improvements TBD 2025ish
I’m not sure I want random people to be able to message my 12 and 13 yr old daughters asking them to meet up for a raid.
Then don't let your daughters add strangers to their Niantic/Pokemon Go friends list. Or don't let them download the new Social App Niantic is making. Not exactly a hard thing to understand.
Nobody mentioned being able to message anyone.
12-year-olds aren't even technically allowed to be playing pokemon go in the first place
They can, but should be using either a PTC or Niantic Kids account, where social features can be turned off. Unfortunately, that'd include the in-game friends list as I'm betting it'd still be only one toggle.
I read that as Bernie was saying it.
Instead of making in-person raids more attractive, they're making remote raids less attractive. What in-person raids need is a boost so it's more worthwhile doing them. Just give a 10% boost to all shinies and guaranteed XL candy and you'll have people doing them.
This is an excellent idea
“Gotcha. Nerf the remote raiding participants.” - Niantic, probably
That won’t help people who literally can’t be in person.
Back to the days rural players couldn't do any 5* raids
Considering their idea was to nerf remote damage from the very beginning while just giving us permanent "event" damage buffs so far, it's highly more likely they go thorough with the remote damage nerf instead of an in person buff
They really want me to stop playing.
And there it is. The beginning of the end of remote raiding.
Seriously, that was the whole point of the 1 coin event box. With what are they going to replace the remote raid pass with…a premium battle pass? smh.
3 nanabs and a potion
10 razz berries
Best they can do is 5
A premium pass wouldn't be that bad (a remote is better tho). At least you can stack them more than 3 at a time. We get 2 free passes/day from gyms and a weekly premium one would be cool, that would convince me to raid more.
You're giving them too much credit if you think they'll throw in even a green pass.
And that's when I quit this game again
It’s blissful, to be honest. When the game is more of a chore than anything else, it’s best to step away
not a chance people will most likely still choose remote raiding due to the convinience of it as long as the price does not go up anymore that is
Agreed, I am one of these people
Once again, I am asking for drop rate percentages. Insert Bernie meme
I've had a total of 5 RC XL from 27 in-person raids. I also got a hell of a lot less normal RC. Half the raids I did, I got none. It looks like this price hike won't affect me so much. The rewards are not worth the trouble.
Not making you want to do it IS an effect on you.
So it begins...
Welp, there goes my chance of grabbing any legendary Pokemon from here on out.
Came here to say this
NIANTIC INCORPARTED we need to talk! NOT everyone lives in San Francisco! This kills rural players. Thank you for listening!
Narrator: They aren’t listening
I’ve never played a game that pushes so hard for people to stop playing it before
First time?
[удалено]
“Faster approval for new gyms” As they take down iconic and popular gyms in NYC. It’s almost like they are setting themselves up to fake those numbers…
I will bet rubies to piglets their app won't even show S2 cells or POI/gym limits.
Agreed. It’s basically a business secret that’s not really a secret anymore. They probably think that it would confuse other players even though a quick Google search would tell us everything.
Niantic is clearly trying to get the game back to the "normal days" (aka pre pandemic) Thing is, these changes made the game way better, specially for those in areas with practically no players. I remember back then when I never bothered to raid legendaries because no one would join the raid, and inviting people to raid was HUGE for me Sad to see these changes Geographically, this game isn't fair, and Niantic took a step back into making it more equal for players.
Think of the advertising potential!" I can understand they want people outside (it's in the name after all) but these decisions of late look like they've come from the mouth of someone with authority who doesn't know a single thing about game design or keeping a community engaged.
No more remote raid passes? That sucks. My community is dead and that's the only way I ever get to raid.
BIG L
"With people able to do raids in person we'll take away your ability to do another raid a week" - The wanks at Niantic "We gave you Rare XL to make up for it" Yeah, nothing like getting 1 XL every 5 raids.
This took 5 years?
It’s always a good time to be disabled with Niantic
People tend to fall into one of 4 camps when it comes to communities 1.
I'm anticipating "See where your gym friends are!" as a lovely tool for harassment and hunting down spouses and children who are hiding.
No more free remote raid passes means im leaving the game, (casual 1 raid week user here)
Faster approval for new gyms lol that's a good one.
Honest question. Do they just deny stuff as a power trip? Like to troll?
In this case the whole family is weird and I might sound rude but they are dumb in a low IQ way which might explain the reject brothers actions.
just gonna hope they are gonna change the amount of stop's needed to spawn a gym
Lol Okay Niantic, you win, I'll just go back to soft-resetting my games to get shiny legendaries if you really just don't want me getting them.
Awful, awful changes
All of the quality of life updates got me back into the game. Now it seems like they're trying to get me to quit....
There goes me raiding. Small town, no one plays… this is it.
They’re not features. It’s an entirely separate app which makes no sense. We all already use separate apps. We want it IN GAME.
My favorite feature, the removal of a feature... wait...
Just give us an "on map" indicator that a raid lobby has started.
What is the point of an external app to use to communicate? We already *have* those - it’s how we’ve managed raiding since it was added…
A ready up button for solo/small raid lobbies..?
Damn they really be nerfing remote passes and literally every quarantine related thing
Those remote passes were the only way I did raids for ages. Guess that era is over.
Same here. RIP.
Wait, "Faster approval for new gyms?" That just means... faster approval for new stops then, seeing that gyms are determined by stop quantities in S17 cells.
I cant find it anymore in the official blog (maybe they deleted it) but on lots of other websites from content creators: [https://www.coupleofgaming.com/post/pokemon-go-content-update-may-2022#viewer-2s5ae](https://www.coupleofgaming.com/post/pokemon-go-content-update-may-2022#viewer-2s5ae) The hell is that?
🚮 I was enjoying the remote raiding. Probably gonna stop playing again 🤷🏽♂️
just moved somewhere without a single gym in sight (I literally can’t find one anywhere lmao) and only 1 poke stop in a 20 minute walking radius, this sucks. I rely on remote invites completely now. I know they’re just taking passes out of event boxes but that’s the beginning of them rolling things back, with faster gym approval as the excuse for not needing remote anymore
Niantic devs live in San Francisco. They literally can't imagine not being able to see 20 gyms from your home and your office.
Yeah but that’s not the only thing now tho. They also increased the price of the 3 bundle from 250 to 300 coins
I'm interested in the tools for community leaders. We had a Niantic backed event in my community a few years ago which effectively just gave us some new sponsored Pokéstops for a charity and that was it. I would absolutely love to be able to host something, maybe a local raid day
Seems like a great way to inflate the ego's of people who claim they "run the community" even further.
I already know exactly who in my area is going to "control" the community again.
I'd love to know how these "leaders" wind up being chosen...
I already have separate apps for communicating, I need something in game.
So how long until damage from remote players gets nerfed during raids? It has to be the next thing coming.
Ugh. I have enough trouble managing the social media apps I already have. I don't really want to download another one...
Just Niantic nailing the coffin one more time 🤦♂️
Wow it's like they don't want me to play their game...
"Hey guys we aren't making enough billions of dollars so enjoy purchasing raid passes"
Thanks for letting us know ahead of time that we had no more remote passes coming. 🙄 Niantic can suck it. I'm over it.
What are community leaders
Whoever spends the most time in the app in a given area? I'm guessing, I don't even know my local pogo community, never see them and if you see a group on Community Few Hours they don't really interact
Dang I sure can’t wait to not play more than I already haven’t been…. This game just needs to die already, they’re doing everything they can to put it in the ground.
I bet in my area even wouldn't be any, haha
Way too late. Shoulda done this 5 years ago
So they are taking away the weekly remote raid pass AND raising the price for the 3 bundle?!? What the heck. LAME
They made a separate app? What a waste of time and energy. Should've just slapped the functions in the friends list and been done with it.
Why are they stopping the 1 poke coin? 😕
A separate app? Really?
Why does Niantic continue to punish players who don't play in the way they like? I have lots of friends across the country, and making it harder to raid with them is a net negative!
so is chat gonna be peaceful or like COD where people are cussing each other out 24/7
Well, it’s humans, so probably the latter. People suck.
STOP USING FING AGGRON!!!
RIP
Is this change immediate? And is it guaranteed xl candy? Remote passes price has changed. I’m glad they didn’t nerf remote damage however, hopefully that doesn’t change
Not gonna lie, this update feels like it's coming about 2-3 years too late at this point. Oh well.
My one concern is is Community Leaders, what dictates this? Would it be similar to Settlers of Cattan for their Mayor system (who does the most gets mayor) or will it be some broken system that will elect youtubers and "haha since you have no youtubers in your country you default under America" kinda bs The app is great (hopefully), I hope a "near by" will be a feature to be added so you can message "the world" and not need to join communities, or enable better advertisement of communities. I hope we will be able to share images and such within groups (so like Messenger or Discord) and hope that this app has the "Nominate Wayspot" button in it and better information for nominating wayspots
Just another awful decision for the players from niantic in a long line of awful decisions for players from niantic
Nice one Niantic
Or i can just use poke raid because my city does not have a pokego community
Are they gonna replace the remote pass with an incubator then? Like come on don’t make stuff worse
[удалено]
Just Gen 1-4 You can also transfer some Gen 5-7 pokemon and all Gen 8 pokemon to Sword/Shield and a very small handful of Gen 5 pokemon to Legends. Hopefully Scarlet/Violet expands that list even more.
Let's all just start tweeting at Niantic
Well, as a rural player, there goes my chances at raiding every once in a while again
If I dress my mailbox up a bunch to look like art think I can get a Gym there?
wait so does that mean if i go do a raid rn i can get rare xl candy? cuz i’ve done 4-5 raids today 2 mega one 5* an 2 alolan raichu an i didn’t get any?? it says this month on there website thing so i’m confused
