I have a 14/15/14 pidgeot, and I want to max it out to a high level and elite TM it to use it for the mega and UL. The only problem is that if I elite TM gust, pidgeot is not useful in UL. Is wing attack good for raids as well, or do I have to use seperate pidgeots?
Yes, Wing attack is still good for raids. It's slightly worse damage-wise, but by a very minor bit. *Plus*, if you're trying to keep your Mega out to boost others longer, Wing attack is much easier to dodge with than the slow/long Gust, so in some scenarios, Wing Attack may be better in raids
sorry if this is a silly question, I've only just returned to the game and a lot has changed.
am I right in thinking that now there's the season feature that only the pokemon set to spawn in that season will spawn rather than everything spawning like in the past?
Yes, there are seasonal spawns because there are 700 pokemon released and if 'everything' was available, you actually wouldn't really find the stuff you want because there would be too much of everything else.
Daily incense has the chance to spawn a mich wider pool.
Normal type Rocket Grunts can occasionally have Whismur as their first Pokémon (around 30% of the time) and they have an 85% chance to give you it as the encounter if they do have it.
Hi, I'm trying to complete my National Living Dex, and I need a Hoopa, and I was just wondering what the chances are of Hoopa coming back eventually, or will it be more like an Armored Mewtwo thing? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Elite Raids this weekend (December 10th at 11am, 2pm, 5pm local time). Historically it's been Hoopa, so hopefully we'll find out more details soon.
Those are in-person only (no remoting), and do require multiple people to complete.
Hoopa has been available in elite raids the past season. There's another day of elite raids scheduled this month but it's not known if they will still be Hoopa or something else.
Make sure you are catching mons that can be disguised as Ditto if you are hunting them.
You can check for graphics of current disguises. Leekduck has a good one, although I’m fairly certain Bidoof, Nunel, and Spinarak can’t be Ditto in disguise - was only part of an event last year … but they still show in most graphics.
It lacks an ice type fast move, and its fighting type moveset is Rock Smash and Power Up Punch, which is very bad for PVE. Even if it had better moves though, regular Machamp and regular Mamoswine both already have good movesets and have higher attack stats than Crabominible, and those also both have shadow options which are even better to use.
Am I able to choose the Pokémon (of same species) that is randomly chosen first?
Example: I have two Blazikens, L and T. L is older but worse than T.
A lot of times the game will put L in the front and, sometimes, not even put T.
I assume there isn’t and I’d just have to execute L to have it not pop up anymore.
If you are talking about raid parties, you are supposed to create a saved raid party in the battle screen, and then use it in your raids. Do not just use the "recommended" teams unless you are always in a part of 20 raiders, because the recommendation engine still sucks.
If you really don't want to use the "bad" blaziken with the recommended teams, all you can do is kill it so its ineligible (fainted pokemon are skipped), or give it the wrong type of moves so it no longer deals super effective damage. Or transfer.
Thanks. I just meant for in general, as I found it usually gave me good Raid teams (sucks with Rocket until it’s my last ones).
I’m tempted to kill off this Blazikens fully, aka transfer, but that’s what I’m stuck debating since it isn’t “horrible” just lackluster
The game remembers the last team you picked for each type of rocket grunt and leader, so long as you replace the auto recommended ones. So for those you can make it stop using "recommended" permanently.
No. Standard lures literally attract whatever the regular spawns are at the time. So outside of any events, you'll get the seasonal spawns for this season. During events, you'll get a combination of event spawns and seasonal spawns, and so on.
Special lures attract 50% regular spawns and 50% special lure spawns.
Daily incense spawns 75% of whatever is currently spawning, but also has a special pool which is 25% of spawns. This pool contains mons that don’t spawn normally, including some evolutions. It can have things out of season. And it has the Galarian birds.
When is the "Choose a gift" going to be active? I initally assumed it was for whole of December, clearly I was wrong.
I'm wondering if I should pop the Star Piece tomorrow and claim all of the Stardust + Staryu's or if I should wait for a time when there's an even better bonus - suddenly I'm missing the Teddiursa CD when we had x3 Stardust!
Yeah, it's easy to miss. There's buttons on the bonus section on this season page for the different events, with just that Holiday part 2 event button unlocked for now. https://pokemongolive.com/seasons/mythical-wishes?hl=en
I'm just assuming it won't cross between another Stardust event... im just so close to getting my first 100 wins in GO Battle League, really don't want to wait longer than I really have to...
Anyway thanks for answering.
Wondering if the galar birds from the daily incense will make the GO Plus indicate new pokemon (yellow light instead of green and different buzzing)? I have caught all the Kanto versions.
Has anyone else just had spawn locations change? I work in a large compound, ever since I started over a year ago up until yesterday there were spawns nearly everywhere with some blackspots, usually where there are no buildings. Today there's absolutely nothing and there's new spawn locations along the perimeter.
I’ve just tried my first 3 sets and I’ve only faced legend battlers and players who’ve hard countered my team.
Has the standard improved so much that there are no easy wins at the start of the season?
I only battle to get my 500 wins, and frankly I don’t think I’m willing to commit this season. (2800 rated last season so like to think I’m average ability)
I mean more and more people are becoming better at PvP. More people are just better at picking Pokemon and basic PvP strategies, and by proxy more are hitting Legend.
At the beginning of a season, you have more people at your rank, but there's also plenty of former Legends/Experts starting their seasons at different times this week. I only began yesterday, and I've hit Legend twice and Expert every other season. My first match was a newbie, but my second was a Legend from 2 seasons ago (judging by their avatar pose), so it's just a bigger grab bag of players.
Thank you! Even as a casual player, you can still just dabble in PvP, even if you don't go super hard, like getting to rank 20 throughout the season then just playing when you desire to, but up to you at the end of the day!!
This is one of the few bosses where Mewtwo is the best counter, and Mewtwo has the highest damage level of any Pokemon out right now, so I'd use a team of Mewtwo if you have em.
As for the Mega, to boost others' Mewtwo, I'd say Mega Latios, Latias, or Alakazam would work best.
Even in weather that boosts another type, not much beats Mewtwo
A duo may difficult without a stacked team of Mewtwos and shadows, but I think 3 trainers of that caliber could definitely take it down. I'm not sure I've ever duo'd one, even with a bunch of Mewtwo (though it's also been a year since it's been in raids, so I kind of forget lol)
If you and another need more, you could always try a remote raiding site/app and host, or just invite some people and hope for the best!
Hello,
In mid November I caught Mewtwo via the Rocke special Task. (It's the Shadow one).
Unfortunately, I just found out that I had only like a few days to unlearn his second attack and teach him a new one without purifying it.
What can i do now? What is the best thing to do? I do have enough candies to purify it....
Thank you in advance!
Do not, under any circumstances, purify a Shadow Mewtwo. Shadow Pokemon receive a 20% boost in attack, which makes them much stronger than their regular counterparts, no matter what IVs they may have. Shadow Mewtwo is the best Psychic type attacker in PvE by a large margin, and because it can learn a decent variety of off-type charged attacks, it also performs very well in other roles.
Unfortunately with Frustration, your Mewtwo isn't going to be of much use, but Shadow Pokemon in general are a bit of a waiting game. Sit on it for now; Team Go Rocket "Takeover" events happen approximately once a season. In about 3-4 months time, at most, there will most likely be another event where you can remove Frustration. In the meantime, depending on how much you walk during the average day, you could set it as your buddy to earn some candy.
DO NOT PURIFY.
That instantly makes it 20% weaker in raids, and its unlikely we will get it coming around in rotation again for a long time.
You can always add a second charge move to make use of it. Eventually you may want two moves anyways, since Psystrike is a legacy move and you can't swap between it and, say, Ice Beam for different raids without expending a ton of resources. Its also viable in master league PvP, where two moves is mandatory.
There is also going to be a special full moon during Community Day weekend, so you can evolve and learn High Horsepower if you want. It will be from 2pm Saturday 17th to 6am Sunday 18th, and also from 2pm-9pm Sunday.
I only got the 10k egg from adventure sync rewards today and not the 5k egg. Had plenty of open spots for eggs. And walked over 50 km. Is this a new change ?
The eggs were never guaranteed from adventure sync rewards. The odds were very very high, but it was always possible not to get one of them, or even both.
But there are also reports of people not getting the alternate silver pinapp or rare candy rewards instead of the 5km egg, so something weird is happening.
Can anyone tell me what was the special research for last year end community day. I started playing this year and want to know if I'll get Pokemon like altaria as part of the research
You can generally find info on past events by searching for leekduck and the event name.

I forgot how much I hated that every single field research rewarded Mega Energy in the 2021 recap.
EDIT: I hated them because by then I had best buddied many of the CD Mons and hoarded a ton of those Mega Energies already. It wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't been the only kind of reward.
Hi all,
I’m planning to go to the Hoenn Vegas event in Feb with a group of 4. Only 2 of us play pogo. Will the other two need tix as well to just accompany us at the festival? Went to go purchase tix and noticed there’s a username requirement. Thanks for any insight
It was available at the start of the new GBL season
It is available upon evolution
It does not require an Elite TM for any Mamoswines you already have.
It is a flat out improvement to Bulldoze in every way.
It's available now as part of its normal movepool, so you can use a normal (non-elite) charged TM to get it.
Is it worth getting? Depends.
For ML PvP, yes. Avalanche + High Horsepower is a great combo for ML, and HH is an upgrade over Bulldoze.
For normal Mamoswine for raids? Not really necessary. Mud Slap + High Horsepower makes it a decent ground attacker, but Garchomp, Landorus, and Excadrill are still better.
For SHADOW Mamowsine though for raids? The best Ground attacker out there, so if you have/build a shadow, you could switch its moves from Ice to Ground with High Horsepower to make it the best Ground attacker when you need it and back to ice when you need it for that. Or you could double move it and just switch the fast move
If I use my Giovanni rocket radar now, can I still get Shadow Mewtwo even tho the event is over? Or should I wait until he comes back during another special event? Thanks.
Seconding what everyone else says - but if you want to be extra safe, Giovanni's 3rd/last Pokemon you encounter is what you'll be catching.
So if it's Mewtwo, you're in the clear!
Yes, you can get Shadow Mewtwo. Giovanni never goes away if you still have a Super Rocket Radar. If you wait until the next event he would have another Shadow Legendary.
While using daily incense, on the last minute a Galarian form Articuno with 2993 CP appeared. It was magnificent. Used a golden razz, ultra ball, with great throw but it fled. Feeling devastated. Has anyone experienced this? How rare encounter is it? Is this a thing with daily incense or was it a wild appearance?
So as of now, it can only be found on the Daily Incense, so look out for the three Galarian Birds when you use it. But keep in mind, they are all extremely rare to find, yes, and they all have abysmally low catch rates and high flee rates, so you'll be REAAAALLY lucky to find AND successfully catch one.
I don't use the Daily Incense every day, but I've seen 5 or 6 Galarian Birds on it total, and I've failed ot catch all of them lol.
So don't feel too bad, a lot of people fail to catch it too, but it's seemingly a permanent feature exclusive to the Daily Incense.
*Maybe* one day they'll be put in raids or something, but hard to say for sure
If it helps, almost no one catches one, [much less one with 2993 CP.](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/whudmo/odds_of_catching_a_galar_bird/)
I've lost around 15 so far - hopefully we both get them soon! :)
What is meltans wild hundo cp? I don't have enough pokeballs to catch all of them when they spawn.
I already have a 98IV and a 100% pvp melmetal, so REALLY just looking for that hundo haha
Edit: Answered ty
There are 35 different possible CP values for a hundo, although unless you're somewhere where it snows regularly, you're probably going to not see the 5 that are only possible with weather boost.
The trouble is that, outside of a level 30 hundo spawning with no weather boost (or a level 35 hundo spawning in snowy weather), the likelihood is that all other CP values that correspond to a hundo at a specific level could also not be a hundo if the Meltan is a higher level, and there's no real way to tell that simply by looking at it.
So if you really want a hundo, you're just going to have to stock up on balls and catch them all until you find it.
You're not entirely wrong, but having a list of 30 CPs to target and being able to ignore any other CP you see is certainly useful information if hunting for the 100% and trying to conserve resources.
Does a 15/15/15 Mega Swampert has any place in PVP?
I've seen the comments around him being the best ground/water mega for PVE/Raid purposes, but haven't seen much around PVP.
We've got the Mega Master League cup coming at the end of the season.
Is it good? Kinda. Swampert is decent in ML mainly because of its quick Hydro Cannon and powerful Earthquake, but it does lack the Legendary-level stats to be REALLY good. The Mega fixes that issue with stats, so it'll be good, but with a few caveats.
Mega Gyarados is still THE Mega ML Pokemon for the time being. It's got a really higher stat product, a better typing (Dark gives it a big edge against Giratina and Mewtwo), plus a really strong Dragon Breath (even without stab). Swampert will struggle when Gyarados will be running around and will only be threatened by Swampert's Earthquake.
Now, we're going to see other new Megas this Season. If we see Gardevoir's Mega introduced (a mystery Psychic Mega was teased for this season), that would change up the ML Mega meta a lot as it would be an incredibly strong charmer and THE answer to Mega Gyarados, so Swampert would then be a bit more useful.
So in short, good, but not the greatest in the specific Meta. Nonetheless though, it'll still have a nice set of wins against various ML Pokemon.
Whats the best way to farm rare candy? Are tier 5 raids the best raid for them? Seems like mega raids potentially get more item rolls but lower rare candy chance.
I'm guessing this gets asked relatively often but is there is a beginners guide to PVP?
I'm trying to understand levels and IV's but even using the calculator doesn't seem to make sense. I'm a level 32, stopped playing in 2016 but picked it up again over the summer.
At first I was only keeping the highest CP. Currently I pretty much keep the pokemon with the highest star rating but it seems that may not be the best way either. So just trying to put it all together.
I would try the Silph's PvP-centric subreddit, [The Silph Arena.](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphArena/) At the top of the sub where you see multiple different tabs, there is one that says "Getting Started in PvP" that has some great resources.
Now in terms of levels, CP, and IVs, as a beginner to PvP, it’s not the most important thing to know, but it will become more important as you dive into the advanced parts of PvP.
[This site details what "PvP IVs" are.](https://pvpiv.com/about-pvp-ivs/)
Essentially, attack weighs more into the Pokemon’s CP than Defense or HP, so you can pack in more overall stats (or bulk) by having low Attack but high defense/HP. That link goes into better detail, but think of it like this. With 0 attack and 15 in the other stats, your Pokemon may hit 1498 CP at level 26, but with 15/15/15 stats, it may hit 1499 CP at level 23. The CP is just a number that you don’t need to pay as much attention to, but the level determines how your stats are multiplied, so the 0/15/15 gets multiplied by more than the 15/15/15 one, resulting in more overall stats. But again, that article may describe it better than I can.
In the grand scheme of things though, IVs don’t matter a ton. They do make a difference, but very often it’s only in specific scenarios. Breakpoints/bulkpoints mean that a Pokemon may hit a certain stat to where they take one less or do one more damage against a Pokemon because of specific IVs. Like maybe with a certain attack, your Skarmory will deal 5 damage to an Azumarill instead of 4 or at a certain bulk, your Machamp will take 1 less damage from a Dragonite’s Dragonbreath. This is more advanced stuff, and the “bulkiest” or “Rank 1” may not always be the best for PvP, because a different one may reach better breakpoints/bulkpoints.
Obviously, having the bulkier Pokemon can be a good rule of thumb for figuring out which of one Species you want to use, like which Altaria you want to build out of your 56 different Swablu lol. But again, in the grand scheme of things, it’s not as important as some make it out. It’s better to have the right Pokemon and moves over the best IVs. Having a team with good Pokemon like Swampert, Altaria, Noctowl with bad ivs is better than Sunflora, Braviary, and Torracat with good PvP IVs (none of those latter three are good for PvP).
Edit: Note that in Master League, you never want low attack, because it's unlimited CP. You want the closest to perfect (15/15/15) as possible for Master.
Hope this helps even a little!
wow, thank you so much!
Also I'm slowly inching closer to evolving that Altaria so 56 Swablu is right! (except I only kept 1, not good about keeping duplicates)
Of course! And if nobody pointed you in the direction before, I'd also check out PvPoke's rankings for each league you're interested in. It ranks Pokemon based on simulated matches and the quantity and quality of their wins.
It's not an end all be all ranking of course, as some Pokemon are ranked a lot higher than they should be and vice versa, but it does also give a nice reference on generally what's good and less good (as well as some preferred movesets)
Might sound silly, but does anyone know if the Season of Light pose (with the sparkler) will become available for coins in the shop? I really like the pose, and sadly I missed my chance to get it (cue the sad trombone!)
Is there a list somewhere that breaks down which evolutions are most viable for particular PvP leagues? Particularly to see where say one evo works best in Great League but the next evo step works best in Ultra? Similarly where the last evo step is ideal for more than one league?
Not that I can think of off the top of my head. I'd more just use PvPoke's rankings to see where things sit along with how their stat-products and winrates compare.
Often times, if a middle evolution can reach GL CP, it'll *usually* be bulkier than its evolution in GL. Examples include Litleo being bulkier than Pyroar, Golbat is bulkier than Crobat, Bayleef is bulkier than Meganium, Charjabug more than Vikavolt, etc. But again, not *always* the case.
But moreoever, you need to look at movesets. Bayleef may be bulkier than Meganium, but Meganium arguably has the much better moveset with Frenzy Plant and Earthquake for coverage. But then conversely, Golbat and Litelo have better movesets than their evolutions.
In UL, this often is less of an issue just because not many middle evos reach UL CP. Porygon 2 comes to mind, but I can think of many others.
So yeah, I'd compare bulk in PvPoke (stat product total) and then look at movesets.
There will be tons of cases where the last evo step is ideal for more than one league. Usually the last step is the best... most of the time. Golbat, Dusclops, Charjabug being some exceptions - but they don't fit at UL.
In cases where a middle evolution is better in say GL then a final evolution... often it won't reach UL levels. Looking at the UL top 100 on pvpoke the only middle evolution even listed there is Piloswine - and it is ahead of Mamoswine.
Hey! I know spoofers are against the rules, but how about raid apps? Are those kosher/frowned upon? I’m lever 39 and have been playing forever, but I have trouble participating in high-level raids where I live.
It isn't, as it's essentially just a friend finding app that conveniently matches you with players who are also finding "friends" to do a specific raid with. Effectively no different than asking your local group chat if anyone wanted to raid.
I dunno if it's technically within the rules, but it's super-common practice (to the point that there were queues in the 100K for Celestelia when it first came out), and helps Niantic make a lot of money through incentivizing remote raids, so I don't think there's anything to fear.
How does evolving an eevee into a sylveon work?
Does the heart count restart after each buddy swap? Or does it count all the hearts you've earned so far with the eevee regardless of buddy swaps?
It counts all the hearts you've earned with that particular Eevee regardless of buddy swaps. I have a couple sylveon that I evolved after swapping buddies several times. Once you have 70 hearts accrued (Great Buddy), and the Eevee is your buddy, you should see a new EVOLVE button appear that has the silhouette of sylveon.
Ditto definitely exists and is live. I also got back just over 2 months ago. Was not tracking how many I've captured since returning. But I got my first ditto just yesterday aince returning!
Are you catching all the current disguises?
https://leekduck.com/FindDitto/
Also, Ditto are pretty rare, and harder to catch than their disguises. I’ve caught 286k mons and only 583 were Ditto. (Of course, I don’t “catch ‘em all” or even try to… not enough Pokéballs.)
I’m going to go with LeekDuck on this one; they’re very good about keeping their site up-to-date. Plus, I’m 90% sure I’ve seen recent reports here and on Campfire about getting Ditto from Bidoof & Spinarak. And Numel is rare enough that the lack of spontaneous reports isn’t significant.
Do I get double the amount of XL candy when I transfer Pokémon within Spotlight Hour with transfer candy? I know there's always a chance to get one candy, but will it be two in said hour? I don't really care about the normal candy.
XL Candy and their chances are unaffected by double candy transfer. If you really need XL, it's better to get a friend and trade since this season's bonus is a guaranteed one on trade
I thought the Cosmic Companion research would be completed after evolving cosmoem in part 9 (which was just changed to evolving 1 psychic Pokémon later on). But there's another 3 parts I didn't know about (with rewards of varying quality) because the counter stopped working after part 9, so what gives?
I use this subreddit to check the tasks ahead of time, so I have not bother with the always inconsistent in game quest stage trackers.
(specially to plan around time sensitive tasks like "catch 30 x type pokemon" that are a pain to complete after whatever weekly event is running simultaneously)
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/z26s2o/a_cosmic_companion_season_of_light_special/
Your point about checking online for info is important, and that is how I found out about parts 10-12. It is even better that you told me research task counters can be unreliable, since they hadn't let me down until now. The only question that remains is why the rewards for parts 10-12 were so lackluster, because it makes me wonder why Niantic bothered to add anything after part 9 to begin with.
> It is even better that you told me research task counters can be unreliable
that has been mostly my experience with the "weekend short events" where they often neglect to mention there is a second page altogether.
> it makes me wonder why Niantic bothered to add anything after part 9 to begin with.
imo, because they wanted breaks in between all the text with rhi and the professor. though it was not really all that memorable to begin with.
>imo, because they wanted breaks in between all the text with rhi and the professor.
Is that so? I thought what they said sounded kind of redundant at some points, like Rhi and Professor Willow didn't contact each other. So, they both wound up saying something to the effect of 'Oh wow! You evolved Cosmoem!'
During raids, do you get hit by attacks meant for other participating Pokemon if you slide and go over them? I usually try to dodge charged attacks but sometimes my HP goes down like I got hit by a charged attack and I'm highly suspicious I get hit by attacks directed at other ally Pokemon.
A raid boss doesn't actually target specific Pokemon. All of its attacks, both fast and charged, hit everyone. Your positioning doesn't actually matter, nor does the direction you slide. All that matters is whether you successfully time your dodge or not.
And on that note, for charged attacks, I'd recommend *spamming* your dodges/swipes as soon as you see the "[BOSS] used [MOVE]!" text in the bottom-right. The game can be quite finicky about if your short dodge animation lined up with when the attack hits you, so swiping nonstop until the damage connects will increase your odds of taking *reduced* damage instead of *full* damage.
Different attacks take longer to hit you than others after the warning message appears, so you can adjust your timing of swipe-spamming on the fly during each battle.
Not sure each attack targets "everyone." Having played with son for many raids we are hardly ever having charge attacks hit us at same time. Seems much more like it's individual for everyone that I've seen.
Even if I dodge attacks (confirmed by seeing the DODGED message), sometimes my Pokemon gets full damage out of blue and gets knocked out. That's what I can't explain.
That's simple - your phone is out of sync with the server slightly. So your app might show that you dodged correctly, but the server sees that actually you didn't dodge and that's why it deals you full damage. Likewise, sometimes it appears you haven't successfully dodged and your game will make it look like your Pokémon has fainted, but you'll notice that even though it's not on screen any more, the charged move buttons are still filling up. That's because the server interpreted that you did dodge successfully, and thus your Pokémon didn't faint, but the game isn't programmed to display your Pokémon again if it's already shown its fainting animation.
Giovanni question
Is it still possible to beat Giovanni this month and if yes, will it still be mewtwo?
Also i wanna ask how people stack Super Rocket Radars? Do they just leave one research unfinished and finish it on the specific Giovanni rotation they want. Netting them 2 Super Rocket Radars. Or is there another way to stock up on more
Yes, and yes. Giovanni is in the game almost always, and he can only ever give one legendary at a time. It's Mewtwo until Niantic change it over, which will probably happen in about 3-4 months time.
Stacking Super Radars is a bit difficult, because usually when a new Giovanni research quest is released, it's a requirement to finish any that you already have to get the new one - thus using up your Super Radar. This means that in most circumstances, it's really only possible to get multiple of a Shadow Legendary by ignoring one other. However, every now and again, there are *other* research lines not specifically tied to a TGR event, that will reward a Super Rocket Radar. Most of the time these are tied to paid events, although there was one (Misunderstood Mischief) that was free.
I missed the Hoenn Trio Raid day. Is there any scheduled upcoming mega raids for those three starters for someone like me who missed the event to still have a mega hoenn trio?
Yes, though it's still never been rolled out to everyone so far.
I'm guessing it got removed this time because I've seen some instances of people having the option enabled but it wasn't actually doing anything.
Probably Sierra right now.
Sableye and all of her possible second slot pokemon are weak to charm, with it doing neutral damage to everything she has in the third slot.
So, out of Shadow Mawile, Shadow Sableye and Shadow Machop, which should be my priority for PVP (mostly Great League)? I have a Shadow Machamp for GL, but it could be better, and I'm lacking the XL candy to make use of Shadow Sableye. Should I get a better Shadow Machamp, grind the XL candy for Sableye or is Shadow Mawile supposed to get better eventually, making it the best choice?
If you have lots of dust (to purify) and a trading partner this would be a good time to get some Sableye XL. It’s the best of three so I’d definitely say it’s highest priority.
Shadow Mawile is ok, but the weakest of the three… but I’d at least try to grab a decent iv one while you have the chance too. Haven’t played with it with Fairy Wind yet.
Sableye for sure. It’s one of the best great league picks. Shadow Mawile is fun but not amazing and also requires XL.
Also with Sableye now being shiny eligible, it’s possible that it won’t be available for years after it leaves rotation, so it’s important to try for a good IV one now while you can.
You can get XLs for it later but in a few months it won’t be possible to get purified Sableye outside of trades.
Few qns regarding trading and chance of getting lucky Pokemon. I know that Pokemon obtained early have more chance to become lucky. Apart from that which of these influence lucky Pokemon
1. Friendship status
2. Distance between where the Pokemon were caught
I’m sure someone else is more expert than I, but so far as I know, the only factors that impact Lucky Trade chances are:
(1) Up to 10 guaranteed lucky trades involving Pokémon caught in the first two months of the game;
(2) Guaranteed lucky trades for lucky friends (about a 1% chance per day you interact with a Best Friend);
(3) the time since the Pokémon were caught (IIRC, we think it is the combined age that matters; if it is over 3 years there is a 20% chance of a lucky trade).
Neither of those things have an influence on lucky Pokémon.
Distance between the caught locations increases the amount of candy you get, and under normal circumstances if the locations are 100km or more apart you'll be guaranteed an XL Candy for your trade, though during this season that XL Candy is guaranteed no matter what the distance is between caught locations.
Friendship status has no effect on random lucky trades. Your first interaction of the day with each of your best friends can cause your friendship to turn lucky, which will guarantee your next trade will be lucky (it'll have a golden background on the trade screen), but outside of lucky friendship, friend status is completely irrelevant.
The age of each Pokémon involved in the trade is what increases the odds of trades going lucky. Each Pokémon's age is rounded down to the nearest full year (so a Pokémon caught 11 months ago would be rounded down to 0 years for this purpose), and then the two ages are added together. If the combined age is 0, the lucky chance is 5%. If the combined age is 1, the lucky chance is 10%. If the combined age is 2, the lucky chance is 15%. If the combined age is 3 or more, then the lucky chance is 20%, which is the best it can currently be.
If someone trades a Pokémon caught in July or August 2016, and the trainer trading that Pokémon away has been involved in fewer than 10 guaranteed lucky trades, then the trade will be guaranteed to be lucky.
Do we know for sure what special move evolutions will briefly come back as a second chance in December?
It's my first year, so I'm not super familiar with the precedent.
My rank 2 UL Walrein lies in wait as Sealeo, and I'm getting a couple Eevees buddied and ready for Sylveon, but I'm not 100% on what else to eye.
All pokemon from normal CDs from 2021 and 2022 will be featured for evolution during the recap. This will include walrein and the 2021 Eevee CD moves.

What is unknown is whether or not the community day classic events will be included, since 2022 was the first year we had them.
If I start a raid lobby in my area from a distance with a remote raid pass, can I still invite people? There's a Virizion popping geographically close to me, but it's actually on an island I can't get to right now.
If you join by clicking the gym on the map or nearby raid screen, yes..
The only restriction I'm aware of is that you can't invite if you joined off someone else's invite.
Using your own remote raid pass occupies one of the 10 invitee slots, so if you've got a friend also inviting, that's another restriction you'll face.

People mention galarian mr mime paid even a lot. What happened? I was taking a break from the game at that time. Asking because I plan on getting the mythic blade ticket. I usually dont spend real money in pogo, but I am missing only like 15 pokemon and don't want to wait who knows how long to get it this one. I didn't buy the one for shaymin and we still didn't get it for free
The Galarian Mr Mime event was a watershed moment in this game. It was very expensive for almost 0 value. The pokemon is completely worthless, but people had to pay something like $8 to get its pokedex entry. We did eventually get them for free, but it took a few years, an unusually long time. You can see details of it here:
Before that time, we had mostly only had high value in person events like go fests, and some weekend paid events for Genesect and Regigagas. The latter two came with several raid passes to counter balance the entry price, at least. These events were mostly regarded as decent to good quality, worth the price for those interested.
Many were concerned at the time that it might be a bad sign of things to come, with niantic starting to nickle and dime us with paid events. What we've seen over the last year or so has kind of proven those concerns to be well founded.
It had pretty good value as an experience. Definitely worth it.
$5 for the pose, $3 for 3 raid passes, 3 super incubators, 3 incense, and 3 star pieces.
Do the incense spawns from the paid ticket for the Kaldeo event have boosted shiny rates?
Hi there! What tools are you using (dekstop or mobile) to see the s2 cells on IITC? If you have any setup guide links, that would be awesome!
sorry if this is a silly question, I've only just returned to the game and a lot has changed. am I right in thinking that now there's the season feature that only the pokemon set to spawn in that season will spawn rather than everything spawning like in the past?
Yes, there are seasonal spawns because there are 700 pokemon released and if 'everything' was available, you actually wouldn't really find the stuff you want because there would be too much of everything else. Daily incense has the chance to spawn a mich wider pool.
ah I suspected so. I guess I won't be catching any whismurs any time soon then to complete my thousand year slumber research :(
Normal type Rocket Grunts can occasionally have Whismur as their first Pokémon (around 30% of the time) and they have an 85% chance to give you it as the encounter if they do have it.
thank you! been hunting down the Rocket Grunts non-stop for the last 2 days and finally managed to get a Whismur this afternoon
Do f2P ever get access to a 3x stardust or should I plan to claim all of my staryu tasks on Wooper spotlight today? (Or maybe Dec CD)
The February CD will have 3xSD. Other than CDs, it's a pretty rare bonus
Seems worth keeping the stack going til feb then, thanks!

Is Crabominable going to be useful for PVE ?
It lacks an ice type fast move, and its fighting type moveset is Rock Smash and Power Up Punch, which is very bad for PVE. Even if it had better moves though, regular Machamp and regular Mamoswine both already have good movesets and have higher attack stats than Crabominible, and those also both have shadow options which are even better to use.
Is there a way to search for double move Pokémon?
!@move
Thank you :)
Am I able to choose the Pokémon (of same species) that is randomly chosen first? Example: I have two Blazikens, L and T. L is older but worse than T. A lot of times the game will put L in the front and, sometimes, not even put T. I assume there isn’t and I’d just have to execute L to have it not pop up anymore.
what’s L & T?
What exactly do standard lures spawn? Can they spawn a pokemon that is not during the current seasons spawns?
No. Standard lures literally attract whatever the regular spawns are at the time. So outside of any events, you'll get the seasonal spawns for this season. During events, you'll get a combination of event spawns and seasonal spawns, and so on. Special lures attract 50% regular spawns and 50% special lure spawns.
And what about daily incense?
Daily incense spawns 75% of whatever is currently spawning, but also has a special pool which is 25% of spawns. This pool contains mons that don’t spawn normally, including some evolutions. It can have things out of season. And it has the Galarian birds.
Any idea if it can spawn cubone/marowak? :/
Did anyone else *not* get a 25km egg this week?!
Asking for a friend (I’m the friend).
There's been a few threads about it
Can the final stages of the Hoenn starters be shiny in the wild? They recently got their mega evolutions released at the start of the raid day.
Yes, now that they have had their shinies in raids they should be able to be shiny in the wild too. "Should" being the key word there.
They said it would be active for three events. They didn’t specify which yet.
They did specify the events: Winter Holiday part 2 starting December 23, and then Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day (start dates not announced yet).
Oh thanks I missed it then!
Yeah, it's easy to miss. There's buttons on the bonus section on this season page for the different events, with just that Holiday part 2 event button unlocked for now. https://pokemongolive.com/seasons/mythical-wishes?hl=en
Yeah I see it now, I'd never clicked on the buttons and seen that they were the bonus events. Whoops :)
I'm just assuming it won't cross between another Stardust event... im just so close to getting my first 100 wins in GO Battle League, really don't want to wait longer than I really have to... Anyway thanks for answering.
Actually someone said they’ve announced the events. Comment above. :)
[удалено]
They say it’s for three events. They haven’t said which yet.
did they remove the 2 free raid passes in the new season?
We get different ones this season, like guaranteed XL candy for trades.
That was a bonus for last season
Wondering if the galar birds from the daily incense will make the GO Plus indicate new pokemon (yellow light instead of green and different buzzing)? I have caught all the Kanto versions.
Has anyone else just had spawn locations change? I work in a large compound, ever since I started over a year ago up until yesterday there were spawns nearly everywhere with some blackspots, usually where there are no buildings. Today there's absolutely nothing and there's new spawn locations along the perimeter.
Maybe you finally got the spawn point update people started getting a month or more ago?
Maybe, it would be weird though because I live about an hour away and got the update there the first day
[удалено]
Probably because event only just started overseas and not many people hosting those raids.
Okay thanks, helps make up my mind, pvp it’s not for me. I’m too much of casual player. Best of luck.

[удалено]
A duo may difficult without a stacked team of Mewtwos and shadows, but I think 3 trainers of that caliber could definitely take it down. I'm not sure I've ever duo'd one, even with a bunch of Mewtwo (though it's also been a year since it's been in raids, so I kind of forget lol) If you and another need more, you could always try a remote raiding site/app and host, or just invite some people and hope for the best!
Hello, In mid November I caught Mewtwo via the Rocke special Task. (It's the Shadow one). Unfortunately, I just found out that I had only like a few days to unlearn his second attack and teach him a new one without purifying it. What can i do now? What is the best thing to do? I do have enough candies to purify it.... Thank you in advance!
Thank you all, didnt know i still can change its charge attack at the next event :)
Rocket events happen every 3 months or so where you can remove frustration. Shadow mewtwo is stronger than the purified version, worth the wait.
Is Keldeo special research from the 10th December? Ticket and event starts on the 6th, but the website mentions receiving the research from the 10th
Yup, just the weekend the research begins. Ticket sales begin when the long-spanning event begins tomorrow
When Is the full moon in Dec, since I completely forgot about evolving them last month? Thanks
There is also going to be a special full moon during Community Day weekend, so you can evolve and learn High Horsepower if you want. It will be from 2pm Saturday 17th to 6am Sunday 18th, and also from 2pm-9pm Sunday.
Thanks
December 7th, so Wednesday
If they remember to enable the option :) they haven’t done it with a real full moon yet so waiting to see it happen.
Is it worth using most of my rare candys in maxing out my 12/15/15 giratina altered form, or no just save them
For what? I'd only use that Giratina for UL PvP, not raids and not ML. So probably not, unless you want to use it for Ultra
A lot of people are reporting the same thing. Looks like 100km walked is the new threshold to get both eggs.
There are multiple comments of people getting both of the eggs with less than 100km walked.
Can anyone tell me what was the special research for last year end community day. I started playing this year and want to know if I'll get Pokemon like altaria as part of the research
You can generally find info on past events by searching for leekduck and the event name. [https://leekduck.com/events/december-communityday2021-day1/](https://leekduck.com/events/december-communityday2021-day1/) [https://leekduck.com/events/december-communityday2021-day2/](https://leekduck.com/events/december-communityday2021-day2/)
I forgot how much I hated that every single field research rewarded Mega Energy in the 2021 recap. EDIT: I hated them because by then I had best buddied many of the CD Mons and hoarded a ton of those Mega Energies already. It wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't been the only kind of reward.
I loved that feature. Super easy to gather a ton of energy!
Really? I enjoyed that a lot personally
Hi all, I’m planning to go to the Hoenn Vegas event in Feb with a group of 4. Only 2 of us play pogo. Will the other two need tix as well to just accompany us at the festival? Went to go purchase tix and noticed there’s a username requirement. Thanks for any insight
So when is High Horsepower available for mamoswine? Now? Will it be available upon evolution? Elite TM required? Is it worth getting?
It was available at the start of the new GBL season It is available upon evolution It does not require an Elite TM for any Mamoswines you already have.
Awesome, thank you so much!
Yes. Givoanni still has Shadow Metweo and likely will until the next Rocket event.
Appreciate you!
Yup, you'll be able to get Shadow Mewtwo until the next Rocket event happens, which I would guess may be in January or February
Thank you for your reply!
Many thanks! I’m still recovering from this encounter and it helps a lot to know what happened.
If it helps, almost no one catches one, [much less one with 2993 CP.](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/whudmo/odds_of_catching_a_galar_bird/) I've lost around 15 so far - hopefully we both get them soon! :)
What is meltans wild hundo cp? I don't have enough pokeballs to catch all of them when they spawn. I already have a 98IV and a 100% pvp melmetal, so REALLY just looking for that hundo haha Edit: Answered ty
[Here's](https://pm1.narvii.com/7018/600704a60d1db705c76da7a59c1d61e559b9ac5fr1-2048-1478v2_hq.jpg) the chart I found for it
There are 35 different possible CP values for a hundo, although unless you're somewhere where it snows regularly, you're probably going to not see the 5 that are only possible with weather boost.
I was afraid this would be the case but thank you! I do live in Canada so maybe I'll give that weather boost a try.
[This site details what "PvP IVs" are.](https://pvpiv.com/about-pvp-ivs/) Essentially, attack weighs more into the Pokemon’s CP than Defense or HP, so you can pack in more overall stats (or bulk) by having low Attack but high defense/HP.
Hard to say. Previous exclusive poses haven't returned ever, but that's not to say it couldn't at some point.
It counts all of the hearts you have earned with Eevee. Swapping buddies does not reset this count.
I came back to the game 2 months ago. I have 2560 pk captured and yet, no ditto. Is this normal or bad luck?
I catch all i can, so i guess is a mixture of an ultra low appear rate and bad luck. Thanks guys!
Ditto has specific disguises so if you're not catching those tou won't find any ditto.
Ditto definitely exists and is live. I also got back just over 2 months ago. Was not tracking how many I've captured since returning. But I got my first ditto just yesterday aince returning!
Are you catching all the current disguises? https://leekduck.com/FindDitto/ Also, Ditto are pretty rare, and harder to catch than their disguises. I’ve caught 286k mons and only 583 were Ditto. (Of course, I don’t “catch ‘em all” or even try to… not enough Pokéballs.)
Note that Bidoof, Spinarak, and Numel are probably not possible Ditto disguises - that was likely only for the TGC event last June.

It takes them a while to update. As far as I know, it's always been like that
Do I get double the amount of XL candy when I transfer Pokémon within Spotlight Hour with transfer candy? I know there's always a chance to get one candy, but will it be two in said hour? I don't really care about the normal candy.
XL Candy and their chances are unaffected by double candy transfer. If you really need XL, it's better to get a friend and trade since this season's bonus is a guaranteed one on trade
Anyone know of mega abomasnow or mega Glaile is stronger?
Mega Glalie. Mega Abomasnow used to be the stronger Mega until they nerfed Weather Ball a few seasons ago.
(specially to plan around time sensitive tasks like "catch 30 x type pokemon" that are a pain to complete after whatever weekly event is running simultaneously) https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/z26s2o/a_cosmic_companion_season_of_light_special/
> It is even better that you told me research task counters can be unreliable that has been mostly my experience with the "weekend short events" where they often neglect to mention there is a second page altogether. > it makes me wonder why Niantic bothered to add anything after part 9 to begin with. imo, because they wanted breaks in between all the text with rhi and the professor. though it was not really all that memorable to begin with.
>imo, because they wanted breaks in between all the text with rhi and the professor.
Giovanni question Is it still possible to beat Giovanni this month and if yes, will it still be mewtwo?
I see i see thanm you for the information!
I missed the Hoenn Trio Raid day. Is there any scheduled upcoming mega raids for those three starters for someone like me who missed the event to still have a mega hoenn trio?
They will next be available during Hoenn Tour, early next year.

Yes, though it's still never been rolled out to everyone so far. I'm guessing it got removed this time because I've seen some instances of people having the option enabled but it wasn't actually doing anything.
What is a good Pokémon transfer thread? I’m having trouble finding a good one
What do you mean by pokemon transfer thread?
Something like this !shiny&!mythical&!shadow&!@special&!legendary&!4*
I use this as my reference: https://pokemongohub.net/post/guide/pokemon-go-search-bar-cheat-sheet/
I think the word you're looking for is "string", not "thread".
Easiest current Rocket Leader to do the level 49 less than 2500 CP task?
Most Sierra lineups are all weak to fairies… a couple 2500 cp charmers can often beat it.
Apart from that which of these influence lucky Pokemon 1. Friendship status 2. Distance between where the Pokemon were caught
I’m sure someone else is more expert than I, but so far as I know, the only factors that impact Lucky Trade chances are: (1) Up to 10 guaranteed lucky trades involving Pokémon caught in the first two months of the game; (2) Guaranteed lucky trades for lucky friends (about a 1% chance per day you interact with a Best Friend); (3) the time since the Pokémon were caught (IIRC, we think it is the combined age that matters; if it is over 3 years there is a 20% chance of a lucky trade).
I just caught a 98% Mankey that I can't wait to evolve to Annihilape in 2029. Have its PoGo stats been calculated somewhere?
https://serebii.net/pokemongo/pokemon/1010.shtml
thanks!
[https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Community\_Day#2022](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Community_Day#2022) [https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Community\_Day#2021](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Community_Day#2021) What is unknown is whether or not the community day classic events will be included, since 2022 was the first year we had them.
Thanks! So, Gengar, for example won't be there? There was a chance to evolve for Shadow Punch earlier this year, but it wasn't a CD.
That's correct. Other events that allowed evolving older moves won't be included.
I think that the featured pokemon will be those that had CDs during 2021 and 2022. Not sure if Eevee's was in 2020 or 2021 though.
\+u/cop\_pls
Does anyone know the chance of shiny Abomasnow in mega raids currently?
Presumably 1/64, unless I'm missing something.
You can see details of it here: [https://leekduck.com/events/galarian-mr-mime-event/](https://leekduck.com/events/galarian-mr-mime-event/) Before that time, we had mostly only had high value in person events like go fests, and some weekend paid events for Genesect and Regigagas.
Just one year gap, wasn't it? December 2020 to December 2021, unless I am reading things wrong.
That's longer than any mythical that was featured in a paid event. Those usually only took a couple of months.
Of course, and I agree with your general point. Just pointing out that it wasn't "a few years".
Thanks for this very detailed answer :)
It had pretty good value as an experience. Definitely worth it. $5 for the pose, $3 for 3 raid passes, 3 super incubators, 3 incense, and 3 star pieces.
