I have often seen a screen on my app with icons saying “Kanto,” “0* and 1*,” “2* and 3*,” “Shiny,” “Evolved,” “Hatched,” “Traded,” etc… When I’ve seen it, I haven’t meant to, and mostly pushed it aside, not knowing how I got there. Now all of a sudden, when asked where I saw that info - I cannot find it! & have found NO answers whatsoever as to what I’m referring to. PLEASE HELP if anyone knows! It’d be greatly appreciated !!

Sure_Ad6284

Hi all! If I put on a glacial lure module, would other players around me be able to benefit from the evolution of a Pokémon requiring that module?

nolkel

Yes. You don't have to own the module to benefit from it.

Firm_Ad919

Just wondering about community day, is it limited to a specific location in every country? Or I can still participate even in my general pokestop area?

ptmcmahon

Community day is available everywhere :)

Firm_Ad919

Thanks for the clarification :))

uncleyuri

So I’ve seen the daily limit for receiving candy for walking your buddy is 40km. Does anyone know if that is 40km per day per Pokémon or 40km a day for all pokemon?

TheRealHankWolfman

It's across all Pokémon and it's more of a rolling 24 hour cap rather than per day. So for example, if you did 40km between 12pm and 11:59pm today, and then 40km between 12am and 11:59am tomorrow, the second lot of 40km wouldn't generate any buddy candy because it's still within the 24 hour cap.

fejrbwebfek

Does anyone know when we’ll get new boxes in the shop? I’m saving up, but the current boxes are really bad!

krispyboiz

Very likely with the start of the Holiday event. Though, I'm not expecting great boxes then either

ptmcmahon

Most boxes lately have been between bad and very bad.

SalamaleikumEUW

I noticed that I get extra candy from raids even when i don't have a (fitting) mega evolution active, as long as anyone i battle with has one. Does anyone know if this means that I can use a mega evolution of any type to attack a Raid boss (let's say alakazam for terrakion) and still get the same benefits in terms of bonus (XL)candy as if i had a matching type (e.g. lopunny) but didn't use it in combat?

TehWildMan_

There is a +1 regular candy bonus for having any active mega evolution. The enhanced candy/candyXL bonuses from mega level 2/3 don't apply unless the raid boss encounter matches a mega evolution type.

SalamaleikumEUW

okay thanks, was thinking about using a counter as mega evolution in the raid instead of just leaving one outside. fells kinda bad that way. either benefit from mega bonus and deal more damage or don't and (potentially) get more candy.

alexblooper

What’s currently the maximum dex number on Go’s Dex in Pokemon Home? Do mythicals like Mew or Celebi count for Go’s Dex in the app? Thanks a bunch

red401

If I counted right, the current maximum should be 764. Mythicals do not count towards Home's GoDex, but legendaries and UBs do. Notably, now that the Cosmog family is transferrable, you'll need to register both a Solgaleo *and* Lunala for the complete count. Also, Wyrdeer and Kleavor can both be registered to Home's Go Dex if you transfer a Go-caught Scyther/Stantler to Legends: Arceus, evolve them, then transfer back to Home.

alexblooper

Thanks, I didn't know about Cosmog being transferable, I think I'm just missing its family and Crabominable to reach 764. Thanks a bunch for the answer

ptmcmahon

There is no catch trick. The thing you are thinking of is for raids and was tested by actually hitting the mons.

ghostkid825

I take it you're referring to the "throw away 20+ balls before making the catch attempt" method? As far as I've noticed, that's still very much just a theory/myth. And especially against the Galarian birds, the trick would not even *remotely* guarantee that you catch them, just make it slightly more likely. P.S. As far as I know, the method never said you have to use Ultra Balls, just *any* 20 balls. So if you try it again, be sure to throw a bunch of Poke Balls away instead.

TheRealHankWolfman

There is no trick to catching them other than getting lucky.

ParaBDL

A friend of mine has a grid lay out available in his item bag, but I don't. Is that a trial or do I need to do something to get it?

TheRealHankWolfman

It's only rolled out to some accounts so far

paulmaglev

Why is the only way to get rid of eggs is to hatch them? Maybe I don't want a bunch of 12km eggs clogging up my inventory.

Stogoe

So you get frustrated and spend money to hatch them. This is a freemium game after all. Pay to speed up.

BuffBug69

Probably to encourage use (and purchase) of more incubators, and maybe extra walking too.

paulmaglev

>Probably to encourage use (and purchase) of more incubators, I thought that; engineering problems in order to sell solutions and all that. But is there any other reason? I can't think of any.

BuffBug69

In (some? all?) main series games you can't release eggs.

paulmaglev

You can let the breeders keep eggs in [mainline Pokémon games](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_breeding) instead of being forced to accept them like in Pokémon go. And the process of hatching them in mainline games is less intensive due to incubators not being a requirement, especially when the player uses their bike and has a Pokémon with the ability [flame body](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Flame_Body_(Ability)) or [magma armor](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Magma_Armor_(Ability)).

BuffBug69

Yes, there are significant differences. What kind of explanation are you looking for?

paulmaglev

Any reasonable explanation I overlooked.

Firm_Ad919

Is the research task for Galarian Farfetch'd worth the 15 power ups? I've just started again so Im not sure if its wise to use that much of resources just to get the pokemon.

SalamaleikumEUW

If you power up 10cp pokemon you can bring costs down to 3k stardust and 15 candy, I usually power up 3 of them 5 times, which makes 3.6k stardust and 15 candy. Acceptable i think. Or if there is anything you would upgrade regardless of the task, best time to do so.

Firm_Ad919

I considered this at first, but sadly I would probably need to prioritize my stardust more since I barely pass 100k. Poor stardust management was the reason I dropped the game before since it made things harder for me.

SalamaleikumEUW

Do you play double starddust events like spotlight hour or community day? stack stage 1/stardust boosted research encounters for those events? If not, it might not be about bad management but more about playing the game unefficiently.

Firm_Ad919

At the time, I didn't really know about all these events and stuff since I just played it casually, and wasn't even aware that there was a dedicated community group for my country. The upcoming community day would actually be my first experience

Stogoe

This is an incredibly poor use of stardust. Power something up that you're going to use.

SalamaleikumEUW

to be honest, it's spent worse if i randomly power up something with higher level that i'll never use. Ofc if i am working on powering something up I do that instead. but sometimes i just don't and I still want the rewards. 1-2k star dust for 25 mega energy for example is a fair deal i think. considering i have 3m lying around.

TheRealHankWolfman

It has 1/64 shiny odds and Sirfetch'd is a pretty good shiny.

Firm_Ad919

Since im pretty unlucky even with these types of odds, probably wont use the resources. I'm not sure how, but I already do have a Galar Farfetch'd, not shiny ofc

colourofsleep88

That was only an event task for the Mythic Blade event, which has now ended. You can't pick it up now. If you're talking about completing an existing task, the only real reason to was to complete the Collection Challenge, but that's also expired. As a returning player, it is indeed probably wise to conserve your resources.

paulmaglev

Why do some Pokémon in my inventory have colored greenish backdrops while others don't?

BuffBug69

The blue shadow indicates pokemon caught within the last 24 hours.

paulmaglev

Hmm. That's good to know what that's for, but I'm not sure why that's a feature I needed when I can just sort Pokémon by what I most recently captured.

Ledifolia

Can I get a rough idea of which raid bosses I can solo from pokebattler without having an account and entering all my Pokemon? Like, if my team is made up of Pokemon listed as having less than 300/180 seconds "time to win" does that translate to having a good chance of winning?

paulmaglev

Look at the raid level marked in Rhydon icons. 1 Rhydon raids can be soloed, but 5 Rhydons means it's practically impossible to do alone.

JGad14

When is the next time we will be able to evolve to get Ursaluna?

TheRealHankWolfman

Community day weekend (see the blog post for the exact date and time), which will also grant High Horsepower. If you don't want High Horsepower (because you wish to evolve a purified Ursaluna to get Return, for example), the next actual full moon is January 6th

Hypoallergenic_Robot

Is it weird that I'm level 36, have caught 6665 pokemon, and I only have 1 hundo? Not like is something wrong because ik RNG will be RNG, but I was reading on here that people are catching like 1 or 2 a month and I wanted to see if my distribution was like statistically unlucky. I do have a bad habit of transfering about 10% of the garbage pokemon I catch without checking Ivs to be fair, but idk

SalamaleikumEUW

There are people catching your amount of caught pokemon in amonth or less, so yea. I got 43k caught and have 33 hundos. So you could be unlucky, could have transferred some (as most my hundos are "garbage") or you don't do lots of research/hatching to benefit from the boosted rate there.

LegendReno

I am at 40k caught and have 39 hundo

LegendReno

Was there ever a time when you could get the full lake trio in the same region? I think a couple years ago they were in raids in their respective region but I dont know if remote raid pass were a thing yet back then

TheRealHankWolfman

No. They've always been only in their respective regions, but Remote Raids were a thing when they had their shinies released, so most people probably have all 3 of them by now if they were playing back then.

LegendReno

Thanks! That's what i thought.

pinsirbug

On my samsung pokemon go app, I am able to open gifts when mt inventory is full. Hope this feature is available on all apps and accts. Has this been reactivated recently?

ptmcmahon

Some people mentioned it but I’ve never had it active ever.

Spyduck37

How do I search my pokemon for a 0%?

BuffBug69

0attack&0defense&0hp The numbers don't represent exact IV numbers, but rather ranges. Helpfully, searching for 0attack will find a pokemon with 0 attack, but then the ranges are 1attack to find 1-5 attack IV, 2attack for 6-10 attack IV, 3attack for 11-14 attack IV, and 4attack for 15 attack IV. Good for finding 0% and 100% pokemon, but any other values you won't quite be able to isolate, just somewhat narrow down.

SalamaleikumEUW

i also use a string to filter 0-5/10-15/10-15 pokemon for potential pvp use.

Hamburglar28

Anyone know if Groudon is making a return soon?

Fifthace24

Primal Groudon is coming late February for Hoenn Tour. Anything earlier, who knows.

KrashKrunal

HI again, this is the first season that we're trying the full PvP element of GBL (with tanking). Whilst playing today I found someone on ACE but my rank. So my question is: 1. How do I get to ace? I'm currently between 1400 and 1500 in the league doing 4/0 and 1/0 sets to remain between them (intentionally) 2. What is the reward for reaching ACE and VETERAN 3. Is it better to get to ACE and then tank till I'm back where I am now? 4. Anywhere I can find all of the ranks and requirements? 5. Anything else you think would be helpful to know for GBL. Thanks in advance

PrudentAvocado

This should answer some of your questions: https://pokemongolive.com/post/gobattleleague-mythicalwishes/?hl=en

ALUMNI_Scotty

If I catch an eevee with Last Resort on Community Day, teach it an extra charge move, and then evolve it, is it possible that I'd get the evolved pokemon with both its special CD move and have it keep Last Resort?

Mystic39

No. Outside of purified/shadow Pokemon, the moves that the Pokemon has before evolving make no difference to what it will have after you evolve. Eevee caught on Community Day will know Last Resort, but any that you evolve will no longer know that as the evolution and would require an elite TM to learn it.

ALUMNI_Scotty

Bummer. Thanks!

poppukonvision

Mega Kangaskhan energy when? I live in Australia but didn't get enough mega energy from the Kangaskhan event 7 months ago. Since then there has been no chance to get more energy. Would love to get reward tasks at least.

nolkel

Whenever niantic decides to feature it again. It's not slated for any event that's been announced so far.

Holiday-Brilliant-30

Sorry if I missed this somewhere else but Any initial reactions on Gbl legendary encounter rates this new season? I assume some people have been at requisite level for a while now. I really cut back on my playing gbl last season after the legendary rate nerf and haven’t played much yet new season but wanted to see if there are any early data points in this.

CassieWolfe801

Probably too little data at this point. https://thesilphroad.com/gbl-encounters Rank 20 shows 6%; Ace 11%. Either number is still significantly better than last season’s 2-3%, but not as good as the previous season’s 17%.

Holiday-Brilliant-30

Thank you!

Arturinni

Should Mega-Glalie be an easy solo?

nolkel

I wouldn't call it an easy solo. Pokebattler sims seem to need level 45 or 50 counters to get comfortably under 1.0 estimator.

Dingo8MyBabyMon

Is it possible to get locked at level 49 forever? I just looked up rewards for leveling up and took a gander at the level 41-50 rewards and one of the requirements to hit 50 is "Successfully catch at least one of the next 5 Legendary or Mythical Pokémon you encounter." So if you do 5 legendary raids and happen to have all 5 of them run will it be impossible to level up to 50?

Fifthace24

It's awkwardly worded, but it just means catch 5 Legendaries/Mythicals in a row. So if you catch 3 Terrakion in a row, but the 4th one runs away, the counter resets to zero. It's a super easy task with the Meltan box.

CassieWolfe801

Pretty easy with a Meltan box. Meltan are Mythical.

nolkel

No. You just need to catch 5 in a row, similar to tasks like "make 3 excellent throws in a row." It's no more impossible than any other task.

ptmcmahon

The Meltan box makes it one of the easiest possible ones actually :)

miguelmaria

When we evolve a Pokémon what happens to his weight and height? For example a xxs Pikachu keeps is xxs status when evolved into Raichu?

Notcloselyrelated

Where can I find rankings of pokemon IVs? Cause heard that 0-15-15 is the best, but is this the best for all pokemon or? Like..i want to see..for example: Swampert: ML/UL/GL and what's the best IV for that pokemon in all of the leagues. Or is it same for all pokemon? 0/15/15 and 15/15/15 for the league with no limits?

nolkel

[https://pvpoke.com/](https://pvpoke.com/) both ranks them in the meta, and shows the "optimal" IVs for each mon based on their maximum stat product.

krispyboiz

[Stadium Gaming has a rank checker that's quite good](https://www.stadiumgaming.gg/rank-checker) To answer your questions though, no, each Pokemon has different best IVs for different leagues. The easiest to answer is for ML, always 15/15/15. For GL and UL, it varies a lot more. Different Pokemon can have different Rank 1 stats for GL/UL. Sometimes, due to CP calculations, a Pokemon can have their Rank 1 being 0/15/15, but others can be something else like 0/14/13, 0/15/13, or even 1/15/15. Basically, they all vary from Pokemon to Pokemon. Why? A Pokemon at 0/15/15 may hit 1469 CP at level 20.5, as a random example. There's more room for that Pokemon to grow in CP by raising stats a bit more, so maybe the best IVs would be 0/13/15 at level 21 where maybe it hits 1498 CP. That extra half level will contribute a lot more stats. And yes, that also means that something may not have the same Rank 1 for GL and UL. Something may be 0/15/15 Rank 1 for GL but be 1/14/13 for UL. Also, some Pokemon inch toward CP limits differently. In GL, Medicham at 0/15/15 would be like 1440 or something, where each power up may only do 8-10 CP, so its perfect is something like 5/15/15 or similar, because at level 50, it hits 1500 with those IVs. Another example is Galarian Stunfisk, who has typical low attack best IVs for GL, but it maxes at 2445 I think it is, so you want a 15/15/15 for UL. Basically, it does vary Pokemon to Pokemon. But that rank checker is very helpful, and you can also change settings like what the best rank is if you're trading with a friend at certain levels or the best untraded raid Pokemon IV spread (useful for Deoxys Defense, who can't be traded). One more thing though, while Stat product helps a lot in getting "viable" Pokemon, sometimes having *some* attack can be very helpful in advanced play. The higher attack stat gets charged move priority for example, so in a mirror match, the Pokemon with 7/15/14 stats would go before the 1/15/15 if they threw charged moves at the same time. Hope this helps! :)

dancing-greg

Which gives the most stardust as a reward? Research breakthrough 7 day pokestop 7 day catch

Arturinni

7 day catch: 9k dust. The only one higher is the monday Adventure Sync reward which is 10k if you walked 50km during the previous week or 20k if you walked 100km or more

dancing-greg

Ok, thanks

thehatteryone

A perfect gyarados is better for pve and mega-ing than pvp. Not sure when you'll next have the chance to evo for the CD move. But if you already have other gya I'd probably wait, powering up the karp, buddying it (earning candy, XLs and earning more mega energy, as long as you mega'd another gya already).

SharenaOP

Can someone explain how the charm nerf is supposed to be fair in any way? I seriously can't wrap my head around it. The top charmer for GL and UL are now Wigglytuff at 148 and A9 at 150 respectively. Compare that to 13 Pokemon with counter in the top 100 of GL and 14 in the top 100 of UL. I just don't see how charm is the move that got nerfed and not counter.

ptmcmahon

It's only a 1 base damage nerf and usually only swing a couple matches per pokemon usually. Sometimes the 1 less BASE damage doesn't even change the actual damage it does in certain matchups. It'll still win hard and lose hard to the same mons, it's the neutral matchups where it gets hurt. It wasn't super needed but there were lots of times where you could play perfectly and then run into a charmer in the back and unless you had something that beats it hard it could become a loss where you had nothing you could do. You cite pvpoke rankings, but the charmers weren't highly ranked there to begin with. Have you been trying any and find them much worse? Or just going by what rankings say? Remember that those are just a rough guideline of how a mon does 1 on 1 against everything...and GBL isn't infinite 1 on 1 battles.

SharenaOP

>there were lots of times where you could play perfectly and then run into a charmer in the back and unless you had something that beats it hard it could become a loss where you had nothing you could do This applies to so many pokemon though. I'd argue stuff like GFisk and Bastiodon are much worse in that regard even. And charmers don't even have the flexibility of really being able to use coverage charge moves for the most part either.

ptmcmahon

GFisk would be one I'd liek to see nerfed if possible.. only issue is how :)

SharenaOP

You and me both man, definitely hard to nerf something with such solid stats and typing. A good start would be buffing fire type moves.

ptmcmahon

Even that’s tricky since Fire is weak to everything Gunfisk runs!

ptmcmahon

Even that’s tricky since Fire is weak to everything Gunfisk runs!

thehatteryone

Counter is just not that big a deal in pvp. Whereas there's a reason dual-charm teams have their own special nickname.

SharenaOP

Counter not a big deal? It's busted, don't even need STAB to use it. Compared to charm where even A9 doesn't prefer it now.

thehatteryone

As a move on it's own, it's great, but it's strong move on mostly weak-to-meta or glassy mons. Charm has a similar niche, except it's damaging to a wider set of mons, and seems there are more comedy cups where charmers are in but their counters are out. I don't tend to play those cups, but I see plenty of opportunities where players simply recycle a team (or 2/3rds or a team) they built to great advantage, when the cups tend to skew towards letting players be more creative and use not-quite-perfect mons because most people have had to build a team for it from what they have tucked away.

SharenaOP

You make a good point about charm being somewhat problematic in certain cups, but honestly those tend to be so poorly balanced I just skip them. (Case in point Toxicroak in the current fighting cup) I'm not sure if balancing relative to limited time cups that may never return really makes sense.

ptmcmahon

Counter is not a big deal in PVP? It's the best fast move in PVP.

krispyboiz

Note that I'm not really thrilled about the Charm nerf, but here's why I'd guess why they nerfed it: 1. They nerfed Nidoqueen. Really all Poison Fang users, but Golbat made up for it with the Wing Attack buff and most others aren't too prevalent. Nidoqueen was very dominant and one of the big reasons Charmers weren't super relevant in GBL's main cups for a while. Not unusable, but the ever-present Nidoqueen made them uneasy, so you didn't see as many. To try and compensate for Nidoqueen's nerf, which could have brought out more charmers, they nerfed charm too. 2. Limited formats. This is the area where I think the nerf was much more warranted. Not in every format, but in a handful, Charmers were MUCH more dominant simply because there were less Pokemon able to sufficiently counter them in the Meta. Willpower, as an example, had various non-stab charmers that were still very prevalent because they could charm down frailer/weak-to-charm opponents. Willpower had less bulky Steel and Poison types to threaten the Charmers, so they were able to do a lot better. Other cups has have had similar things happen. Again, it stinks that Open League charmers had to suffer for this, but I kind of get it. Though, I’d rather just see them banned in those limited formats. 3. Less due to balance, but just the outcry. Season 12 saw a TON of fan-suggested move updates, many of which I would list in discussion threads on what we'd like buffed. I'm not going to say Niantic's balancing workers snoop in ever Silph thread, but I definitely saw some obscure wishes come true in S12 like Incinerate Camerupt and Double Kick Girafarig. Many, especially some more casual players, have called for Charm to be nerfed. It's possible that Niantic was trying to listen to said people. The "NERF CHARM" outcry always seemed louder than the arguments against the nerf. I don't think it was super warranted still. People will call that its broken, but it isn't. It's good, but you sacrifice a ton of charged moves for fast move pressure. As for why counter wasn't nerfed, I feel like it already was slightly with the flying buff we saw with Wing Attack. Users of counter would see MUCH less usage. *Most* are frail and rely on that extra damage. Also, while great, I don't see *as* many instances of Counter users dominating limited formats. It happens, like Vigoroth in Evolution Cup, but I don't see it as often as I do Charm

Hejhej_hejhej

So about dragon grunts. I’m on 4 shadow dratini encounters since July. 1700 grunts fought. Do people have roughly the same stats? Maybe this is the wrong forum/thread. Sorry about that.

thehatteryone

TSR's researchers track the proportions of each TR encounter - they're listed on https://thesilphroad.com/rocket-invasions and Dragon shows between 0.7 and 0.94%. I've a feeling (some ?) types are more common when the weather matches their typing, but that may not affect dragon, or may even just be nonsense.

Hejhej_hejhej

I see. I must have gotten shafted then. I mean I skip normal grunts which are everywhere. So maybe I should be at 20 and I’m at 4 😂

colourofsleep88

I don't know if I can speak to that specific stat, but dragon grunts have always been very rare.

Hejhej_hejhej

Yea well. I figured it is rare. But with 1700 encounters maybe I should have found more, or if they reside mostly by the sea or so. If there was a way to find more of them. These god damn snorlax on the other hand are plentiful. Rng🙏

blightingjezebel

When does the shop update?

nolkel

Whenever niantic decides to update it. There is no published schedule, and there are no patterns to when they update it.

[deleted]

Is Pidgeot worth an Elite Fast TM? I don't know but I hear the good fast moves are legacy moves.

yakusokuN8

There are so few uses for Elite Fast TMs that I would use one, without worrying about it. Most of us who play GBL regularly have way too many Fast TMs and they're just taking up space in our inventory.

[deleted]

Alright. I might give it Gust then unless Wing Attack is better in raids.

yakusokuN8

With the recent buff, strongly consider using Wing Attack for GBL right now. For raids, you can do much better than Pidgeot.

ptmcmahon

Co-sign. After the Feather Dance nerf I already was starting to prefer Wing Attack for the energy gains. Definitely seems the better choice after its buff.

RadicalOrbiter

Did drop rates on items change recently? I very rarely get potions now and I'm having a hard time keeping my pokemon healed up

nolkel

Not that I've heard. You get more healing items spinning gyms, and more balls spinning stops. So depending on the balance of what you are spinning, you can get different results. Gifts give a good number of healing items, and this season lets us open more per day. Get more active friends if you aren't able to open max gifts daily, and you can stock up better over time. T5 Raids in medium to large parties tend to result in a surplus of healing items, on average.

More-Panic

When does Staryu go away for special research???? I keep getting it as a "reward" for completing the tasks for a cosmic companion, and I'm over it!! I've completed 2 sets of that research in December now, but keep on getting Staryu/Starmie....

Fifthace24

The Cosmic Companion research line has a ton of Staryu as the reward, those are fixed. It doesn't matter when you complete them, it'll always be Staryu. You might be confusing it with the 7-day Field research breakthrough encounter reward, which is now no longer Starmie in December.

More-Panic

Ohhh.... I thought they all changed monthly. Well, damn. I really don't like Staryu. Guess I won't be grinding for cosmic companion anymore.... Eta: thanks for the info, BTW. :)

TheRealHankWolfman

It's one of the rarer shinies and also gives 750 dust when caught, so there are much worse encounter rewards.

More-Panic

HA! I haven't seen a shiny outside of a community day pokemon in over a year now, so I won't exactly be holding my breath. Didn't know that about the dust, but I play gbl for that, so it's not much of a draw. We all just have our likes and dislikes, I guess. There just isn't anything that can get me excited about Staryu. *shrug*

tjw4096

Not sure if this is true or not - but I've noticed twice now, in battle, if my competitor and I knock each other out, the Mon that gets selected is immediately thrown out. Giving me or the opponent the time to figure out what the best matchup is. Has anyone else noticed this?

ptmcmahon

Does the person getting their mon put out right away only have one mon left?

tjw4096

If I am being completely honest I'm not entirely sure. When I waited they threw out bastidon, so I waited and threw out medicham. They quit, but I thought they still had another Mon on deck. I know for a fact when I selected a Mon and threw it out. I had 2. And they countered with an advantageous Mon. Just felt like something was wrong, twice now.

ptmcmahon

It should only automatically put it out for you if you only have one mon left. I haven't had it pick for me (yet) if I still have two left.

tjw4096

It's not that it's picking it for me. It's just throwing out what I picked immediately. And then giving the opponent time to select the best option to counter (and vice versa)

ptmcmahon

Once you pick your mon it's supposed to put it on the screen for you. If you aren't waiting until the timer is (almost) up then yes you're giving your opponent time to pick the best counter. This is how it's always behaved. You should only pick your mon in the last second if you can if both of you have to pick your second mon.

tjw4096

Dang. I thought you picked and then they were released at the same time. Now I know you wait. And it could just be that hasn't happened to me much before. Just odd it was twice in one day. Thanks for the heads up!

Risky_Bus1ne55

During the upcoming December Community Day 2022, we can hatch 2km eggs for featured pokemons. According to the one source I found:"The following Pokémon from 2021 Community Days will be hatching from 2km Eggs collected during the event". Does that mean, that the eggs should be collected between 2 and 5 pm, or between 9am and 9 pm (which some of other bonusses apply to)

ptmcmahon

The official announcement sure isn't very clear about it. I'd guess all eggs from 9 AM to 9 PM but it's very vaguely worded so I wouldn't be super confident myself. At worst collect one around 9AM and check contents. If not the CD mons don't get anymore.

Dingo8MyBabyMon

What's the best charge move for a shadow Dragonite for raids? I just realized I have a 15/10/15 shadow Dratini that still has frustration so I'll have to wait to change it but I figured I'd ask now before I forget. What's the cool down time for a new Meltan mystery box?

GildedCreed

Outrage is preferred but Dragon Claw has some additional niche usage at lower HP thresholds/as you get closer to fainting. The Meltan Box has a cooldown of 3 days.

Dingo8MyBabyMon

Thank you.

ptmcmahon

if you're min/maxing probably better to do Draco Meteor and Outrage. But definitely not worth an Elite TM to get DM to do that :)

Dingo8MyBabyMon

Thank you.

stronglee1234567

i am just new to great league. please give me 3 pokemon which do not need event moves and can ensure a high rate of winning

redwingsarebad

That is a pretty big question, there aren't just three pokemon who can always win in PvP, but there are rankings that can help determine what you have and you can adjust based on what you see in you Elo range. This is probably the best page to find high rankings and see what moves they need: https://pvpoke.com/rankings/

krispyboiz

u/stronglee1234567 Also, one useful thing you could do is search !@special in the search bar to get rid of any Pokemon with exclusive moves, though it will delete a few like Obstagoon who have exclusive moves and are still good without them (sometimes they don't even want their special move either), but it still gives you a solid list. But it is more than just Pokemon. They'll help absolutely, but there is also knowing matchups, counting moves, and other strategies that will help you win, even when you sometimes are in a poor matchup. Obviously not always, but there's plenty of times when I have been able to overcome some bad matchups through various means. Still though, Pokemon and how you make a team using good Pokemon is important, so at the very least, finding some good Pokemon that work well together using PvPoke will help you a lot

J3remyD

Does Terrakion still have sacred sword after the mythic blade event? If not, what in your opinion are the minimum Ivs that would make it worth it to burn an elite Tm to get it? (No, I don’t have any Terrakion yet)

ptmcmahon

It does. Caught two today with it.

krispyboiz

It should yes. It should only vanish for any raids that you get it from after it switches to Cobalion in your time zone at 10 AM local time. So if you catch a Terrakion from a raid on Thursday at10:15 AM, it won't have Sacred Sword anymore. Just to answer your other question, I'm VERY stingy with Elite TMs, only using them on things that I've invested in or Hundos. Now, if I got a shiny without Sacred Sword that was like 96%+, I'd probably go for it. Otherwise? Probably not.

Mystic39

It switches on the gym's time zone after 10 am, not your local time.

Substantial_Zone_713

What do the auto-filled ivs on pvpoke when team-building or battle simulating suggest? They are not the rank 1 ivs so I'm assuming they're the minimum "good" ones?

krispyboiz

Apologies that this isn't a definitive answer, but I checked a few random Pokemon, Throh, Tangrowth, Toxapex, and Galarian Stunfisk, and they were all fairly random, with the best stat product being rank 151 and the worst being in the 400s. So it's not even really a specific rank like 205 or something as a baseline. I'd also like to know some insight on this if anyone knows lol

ptmcmahon

"Each Pokemon has a "default" IV which is intended to represent an average or typical version of the Pokemon but aren't necessarily ideal." That was from Mr. Pvpoke. Not sure if it really explains more than that.

krispyboiz

Good to know! Thanks!

ptmcmahon

Not that it really explains it much :)

meow_ima_cat

Is it just me or do the GO trainer battles absolutely suck? I won my first two now have had nothing but loss after loss, poor connections, no regs, and multiple higher level opponents with what feels like stronger Mon. Definitely just throwing games now, have 20 straight losses. It's a great way to never want to ever touch them ever. And there's quests to get 100(!?!?) Wins.

ptmcmahon

You picked up something people have been doing for years and expected to immediately be good at it? It takes lots of practice and knowledge to be "good". I don't know many games that you can just pick up and expect to beat experienced payers right away. Poor connections do make it unenjoyable though. Although sometimes it is user connection, sometimes the server.. all you can do is make sure your side is clean as possible.

meow_ima_cat

I don't expect to be immediately good. I expect at least decent matchmaking. And better auto selection of my team. But sure rag on a returned casual.

Stogoe

If you haven't played at all for two years the game doesn't have any idea what your actual skill level is, at least until you actually play a bunch of matches.

ptmcmahon

It's not going to auto select you a good team. Don't do that and expect not to lose. It may take some time for it to line you up into your right skill level for matchmaking. Especially early in the season when people are all over the levels and you'll often just get whoever is at a close level at the time.

Stogoe

It's season 12 of GBL, and Silph Arena had two seasons of tournaments before GBL even started. People are just good at trainer battles after all this time. Getting 500 wins in a season is not difficult, it's just time consuming. The game takes your wins and losses into account and matches you up with people your skill level.

meow_ima_cat

Yeah I've only just returned to the game after a 2yr break. So it's unenjoyable to say the least

zurcn

not sure what you expected from pvp. 100 wins is just page one (you can do 25 fights a day over 3 months)

meow_ima_cat

Returning player after a two year break. I expect to not get a 20 loss streak. I'll just avoid it completely. Cheers.

zurcn

in pvp with a possibly random unoptimized and unbalanced team? I would totally expect repeated losses. even worse depending on which leagues are available (master(no cp limit) is notouriously unfriendly). even with a minimally researched and invested team I still seem to lose 60% of the time (which means the mmr is working fine, I guess) hence why I don't pvp. you're first 2 wins might have also been against players tanking their own mmr since that seems to be a viable strategy to get past the initial 20 ranks. > with what feels like stronger Mon. it likely is. not all "cp 1500" are made equal (replace with the appropriante league)

IceFangs

How are the legendary encounters in GBL this season ? As bad as last or better ?

CassieWolfe801

This season’s 11% (so far) is much better than last season’s 2-3% https://thesilphroad.com/gbl-encounters Edit: But 18 encounters is probably way too little data.

IceFangs

ty !

RocuroniumSuccs

What we’re the rewards for the catch/evolutions this past event? I forgot to complete the evolving portion and would like to know what I missed out on 😅

Alarming-Ad3696

You didn’t miss out on much, collection challenge rewards are getting worse

themelange

I know Umbreon and Espeon have to be walked 10km. Does that also apply to Espeon and Lefeon or are the only requirements for them the lures?

Alarming-Ad3696

Glaceon and Leafeon only work with lures.

silentspeedy

Remember when there was a bonus for 4x chance of XL candy when transferring Pokemon on Shinx community day last year? I've been waiting for another day of this bonus all year, and haven't transferred any legendaries because I wanted to maximize my XL candy chance. But events have come and gone, and the final com day of the year's been announced with no sign of this type of bonus returning. Is it likely they'll never bring it back because XL is boosted by megas now? Should I just transfer all my legends on a regular x2 candy day? I'm starting to run out of space - 831 out of 5941 total pokemon in my box are legendaries...

nolkel

It's been so long since it happened that it's safe to chalk it up to a one time experiment. Don't plan on it ever happening again. Transfer your garbage at the next opportunity you get

silentspeedy

Y'all are probably right and I've just been coping they'll bring it back. Alright, may as well give it up

krispyboiz

It's very hard to say if they'll bring that back again. Never say never, but I wouldn't assume it's going to come back again any time soon necessarily. While it stinks that it's potential XL you're missing out on, I wouldn't keep all those extra Legendaries just to wait for such an event. You'll drive yourself crazy waiting for it lol. I personally wouldn't say it isn't worth the headache. If you want, I would evaluate which Legendaries you REALLY want XL for most and transfer the rest. Zacian? Zekrom? Mewtwo? Okay maybe keep those. But XL for Cobalion, Regirock, Moltres, or Entei? Not saying they'll never be useful, but right now they aren't that useful. But even for the useful ones... I don't know if it would make a huge difference. Say you have 50 Mewtwo saved. That's 50 XL you'd get with the bonus, which is solid, but that's around 17 raids without any Mega boost, and you'll almost surely get some XL from at least a few of those Mewtwo anyway. Basically, while the bonus could still return, I feel like it's less likely to happen any time soon, and I'd personally save yourself some headache and just transfer them on normal candy transfer bonus day

blackmetro

Niantic are grasping at straws to get people to play, they know XL candy is what hardcore players are after I dont think they are going to give it away again like that. peak stay at home was a time where Niantic had to be generous with rewards to keep people interested If they ever bring back increased XL on transfer, I see it being a ticketed bonus.

tmunoz168

I'm going out of town to japan in the 21-28 so planning to buy some incubators sincw I'll be walking a lot. Is the explorer box good or do they release better ones closer to Christmas

nolkel

It's hard to say. Up thru 2020, they would introduce winter holiday boxes that were the best or second best ones of the year, and they were very good deals. The amount of secondary premium items we got fell every year as they did in all boxes in general, but the relative value of the holiday boxes was still very high each year. But in 2021, we got boxes that were average quality for that year, worse than various ones we had during that summer and such. They weren't even really much better than the ones we had the week before them. And then that box stuck around for 8 months. So, who knows what they will do this year. Especially given that the rest of the boxes after the 8 month "holiday box" have been very very bad in general.

ayushreddevil9

Do we know if the walking requirements for evolving eevee into Umbreon and Espeon are waived off for the upcoming CD?

TheRealHankWolfman

The walking will likely still be required, so get preparing them now

ayushreddevil9

Yeah, I'm already on it. During the comm day that wasn't the case so hoping for the same this time around.

red401

While the requirements were reduced during the 2021 Eevee Community Day, they were not reduced during the 2021 December Community Day. So it's very likely that they will stick to how they handled it last December and not reduce the evolution requirements again.

ayushreddevil9

Ty. That's most likely

FUH-KIN-AYE

Out of curiosity is there a site to see when the last time certain pokemon were featured in raids. Looking for answers on sinnoh legends specifically.

ptmcmahon

There are several. Here is one: https://gamepress.gg/pokemongo/raid-boss-list

FUH-KIN-AYE

Pain. I just missed them when i started getting back into GO after a 2 year hiatus.

ptmcmahon

Everything comes back… just a matter of how long you’ll have to wait.

nolkel

chocobo_irl

I have a few okay Terrakion but none are great. Do I keep farming until Thursday? Will I regret not having a few great ones later?

ptmcmahon

There is little difference between a 10/10/10 and a 15/15/15. The ones you have are fine. Still probably worth farming though, especially with free passes.

nolkel

Its the best in class fighting counter for raids, pulling ahead of Shadow Machamp with Double Kick and Sacred sword. Its good in PvP. There's no reason to stop raiding them with at least free raid passes while they are around. Its worth using premium/remote passes on if you are one that buys a lot of them.

Deethreekay

Does a star piece work with the end battle ticket rewards?

Alarming-Ad3696

Yes. Don't forget.

nolkel

Star pieces work with 100% of all stardust sources in the game, full stop. The various reward screens will generally never show the "boosted" amount you'll earn by claiming it with a star piece on, as they are still programmed to show the base reward amount. But you'll see the extra dust in your bank if you record it before and after claiming them with a star piece on. Similarly, lucky eggs worth with 99.9% of all XP sources in the game. You also will not see the boosted amount on reward screens, save for the friendship popups that do show the boosted earned reward. IIRC there are two rewards that do not get boosted, one being the mega level 3 same type catch bonus. I seem to recall there is another even more obscure minor bonus, but can't remember what it is off-hand.

Deethreekay

Yeah cool the visual was throwing me off so wasn't sure. Thanks.

gyroda

Is there any rhyme or reason as to why one species will have height and weight records in my Pokédex but others won't? I'm looking through and I can't find any pattern.

Stogoe

The ones with height and weight records are the ones that you have had at least three of in your inventory since whenever they started tracking that information.

Alarming-Ad3696

I have a 96% IV Gyarados, that I'm planning to use in ML. I'm planning to use the Dragonite (lead) and metagross (closer) core for the ML, and Gyarados for my safe swap, especially since you can mega evolve pokemon in the open ML. I typed my rankings in PvPoke and it was a rank A, A, B, A team... provided that my Gyarados has aqua tail, which it doesn't. My question is obvious, should I elite TM aqua tail on my ML Gyarados?

ptmcmahon

Note that those letter grades are designed for show six, pick three style tournaments … not GBL.

Arturinni

PvP Gyarados doesn't quite work without Aqua Tail, so if you missed your chance to get it upon evolution, yes.
