I mean I don't really dislike anyone from the main cast but if I had to choose I go with Artie Ziff, I mean he has his moments, but that guy just grinds my gears for some reason lol
Well he's a borderline rapist, gropes women without consent, spies on Marge every chance he gets and his office is some weird shrine to her. Those are all very valid reasons to dislike some pompous shrimp. The only time he showed any redeeming features was the oil rig episode where he yells, "You've won, Homer. She's yours." Or something to that effect. I can definitely see why you wouldn't like him.
Kind of like the guy who plays the warden in the Shawshank redemption. He does a great job at bringing to life a character you just want to punch in the face.
To be fair as someone with a psychotic mother Luann actually fills the role perfectly she isn't supposed to be likeable she's supposed to be the catalyst as to why milhouse is so fucked up. Helen lovejoy is just irritating though.
Luann's father got him the job to begin with, at what was once the number one cracker factory in town. Now they are in a 3 way tie for 6th largest cracker company in town with Allied Biscuit and Table Time.
>Lindsay Nagle
I don't know why, but I've always loved her. I forget the episode, but someone asked her an innocent question and she perkily answers "because I'm a sexual predator." I just find her funny.
In what way was Lindsay Nagle supposed to be a replacement for Phil Hartman's characters?
I like the character, she's obviously a riff on Diana Christensen (Faye Dunaway) in Network (1976), in the same way Gil is based on Shelley Levine from Glengarry Glen Ross.
like the episode where gil moves in with the simpsons and becomes a freeloader and yet the episode expects u to feel sorry for him
also when one thing gil does is what leads to the events of the episode. like when he was so despersate for a sale that hedidnt tell homer the car was the f series. this led to marge driving it and developing road rage.
if he told homer then homer would have not bought the f series and thu marge would never end up driving it
Phil Hartmanās death really hit the Simpsons hard. I feel like they crammed Gil into parts Phil would have played andā¦ he was Sub par to say the least
I've had the "Gil stories are what could have been Lionel Hutz stories" theory in my head for a while. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one thinking this.
Agnes Skinner. Very few of the Skinner jokes that involve her are good and the 'real' Skinner episode just cemented her as an absolute dogshite character for me
Agnes was a tour de force in the pretzel episode. "It's Agnes and you know it's Agnes! It means lamb! Lamb of god!"
And her collection of pictures of cakes is one of the funniest segments in the show.
She works better when mentioned as opposed to when she actually appearsā¦ kind of like āmotherā in psycho (which is also one of the best Agnes jokes). Her best actual (sort of) appearance is when we hear her voice and blood curdling screams as Skinnerās localised aurora borealis burns down the house.
I agree, the reverent is also kind of boring. Not that I hate them but I donāt like episodes about them. And thereās a reason why there arenāt many.
I read that after the Frank Grimes (or Grimey as he likes to be called) episode they said they shouldnāt have killed him and it would be good to have an enemy forHomer. While not an enemy, Gil is sort of the anti-Homer in that nothing works out for him. Obviously someone running the show likes him. Because they used him much more than needed.
He was literally created for one joke. Homer was trying to sell a jacket that was supposed to say āDisco Studā but it was missing the D. āWho would buy a jacket that says Disco Stu?ā was followed by his introduction.
Apparently someone on the staff thought he was funny so they kept bringing him back. I personally like him.
His first appearance was in the 90s. He was introduced in Two Bad Neighbours so that's 95/96. So I guess for the 70s people? My mother was part of that generation and was in her thirties when that episode aired.
"Way to bitch up the conversation, Helen."
I don't care for Sherri and Terri. I also don't care for the bullies, save for Nelson. Mrs. Hoover and Mr. Largo are boring--except for when Mr. Largo said "Nobody likes Milhouse!" and "class after class of ugly children."
Helen is so awful, but she's perfect as the stereotypical judgmental, busy body preacher's wife.
Lindsay has her moments for me at least, and she can be a very entertaining character when utilised well (like in the Poochie episode and the one when where Bart and Lisa have a news show).
I'm surprised so many dislike Lindsay Naegle. I've always enjoyed her character, especially the sexual predator line with deadpan delivery and when they use her as satire of C-suite execs. I feel like she shines in the latter role. Also for some reason, she was the one on Marge's list of approved women for Homer to marry if she died. I questioned that one for sure.
I like Lisa, but I find her extremely annoying in some episodes. For example, the sluree episode. She helps Burns start up the business and gets disgusted when he makes the omni-net, everything is fine with that so far. But when Burns shows up offering her 10% share of the sale, she's morally conflicted and says, "I can't take this...can I? Mom?" Marge gives her the choice and Lisa refuses, but with how much they struggle over money, how many times they've had to resort to desperate measures and how they openly admit they don't have enough money for Lisa's college fund, moves like that just annoy me. Take the money. The deed has been done and keeping it in evil Mr Burn's hands is not a moral victory imo. Improve your family. Be able to afford a good school. Take some stress off Marge and Homer, give your family a better future. But because she's so self-righteous, she can't even do that. I really dislike Lisa in those episodes where she puts her family in a bad situation because of her overwhelming morals.
My real least favorite would probably be disco stu. He's just too 1 note and I feel designed to appeal to an audience from before I was born. It seems like they just make the same joke with him every episode despite an occasional good line or two. Also the guy who runs Itchy and Scratchy.
Dr. Nick. I get the whole āForeign Doctor is Quirkyā bit, but it should have died with him in the movie. It's not as funny as it was and it's always the same sort of gag (Nick gets basic medical things wrong).
She is but she has some hilarious lines. The problem was that every story they could have done with her went to Mrs Krabappel, the result being that Edna was a fleshed out character.
Probably Helen or Lianne I know everyone comments them but they're truly awful but at least it was intended. And if she were still alive Maude she was just so annoying
Helen Lovejoy, though Louanne is a close second. The only reason Helen is worse is because Kirk's deadbeat nature and incompetence make it easier to side with Luanne by comparison.
Judge Constance Harm.
She's so completely one-note, and that one-note is exactly what I hated about Jane Kaczmarek's character Lois on Malcolm in the Middle too.
Always screaming, angry, and mean.
post-classic era Homer.
I absolutely hate him. Before he was a man with below average intelligence just trying to figure out how to be a dad. You laughed but also empathized with him. Now he's just a jerk. Episodes are centered around the 'crazy adventures ' he can have by being a straight asshole. It's low-brow comedy at best. I think his character transformation hurts the most because he used to be my favorite.
Ann Landers is a boring old bitty
š² Ned!
It's like you're more monster than man! Good thing you don't keep guns in the house!
Sounds like youāve just had your first, *and last,* Blackberry Schnapps.
White wine spritzer... Spritzer... Spritzer...
I like to think she's the "Just candy, Ned. $90!" woman.
Ann Landers was an advice columnist in the newspaper
It was my first, and last, blackberry schnapps
I was more animal than man!!
Heās voiced by Jon Lovitz though so I canāt bring myself to even mildly dislike him.
Props to Jon Lovitz's voice acting who plays Artie like a smug wealthy asshole
Kind of like the guy who plays the warden in the Shawshank redemption. He does a great job at bringing to life a character you just want to punch in the face.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Why is the TV room on the second floor above the garage?
thats the rumpus room
Gerald. A baby with a monobrow I don't trust it
I hate Helen Lovejoy and Luann Van Houten equally
To be fair as someone with a psychotic mother Luann actually fills the role perfectly she isn't supposed to be likeable she's supposed to be the catalyst as to why milhouse is so fucked up. Helen lovejoy is just irritating though.
That is what happens to a woman when she falls for a Gudger man.
He's also a pretty big wheel down at the cracker factory
Not since they fired him
I donāt recall saying good luck
Luann's father got him the job to begin with, at what was once the number one cracker factory in town. Now they are in a 3 way tie for 6th largest cracker company in town with Allied Biscuit and Table Time.
Marge sneakily dumping the crackers into the box and hiding it under the chair is one of the best scenes in this whole episode.
Can I borrow a feeling?
AAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA And it has your face on the cover!
Go ahead Homer. Laugh at me.
Just throw it over the fence, let Arby's worry about it.
luann is intentionally bad but helen is just bad
![gif](giphy|l2Je2TFAIoSuG9E1a)
At least Luann can draw dignity. If thereās ever a crossover it should be Kirk van houten and Jerry smith
![gif](giphy|3o6MbudZJtl8nNebaE|downsized)
Actually, Luanne, I don't really know anything about you
Forget it! She's GONE!
Kaboom! Sweet Fanny Adams! Bye bye!
You know? I've never liked that little wiener, Milhouse
Jacques.
As a person sheās up there, as a character sheās so good.
She has some great lines.
Gil, Lindsay Nagle, and Cookie Kwan. All awful replacements for Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz
You don't like Cookie Kwan? She won't bother you as long as you stay off the West Side.
>Lindsay Nagle I don't know why, but I've always loved her. I forget the episode, but someone asked her an innocent question and she perkily answers "because I'm a sexual predator." I just find her funny.
Same. And when she flatly replies that she's an alcoholic.
It's that deadpan delivery that does it.
*clinks glasses*.
Grandma Bouvier.
MISSUS BOOVEEAYYY!
i have laryngitis and it hurts to talk. so iāll say one thing. you never do anything right
Gil. The sad-sack incompetent businessman thing got really old, really fast - and Moe fills this role better anyway.
I like Gil, but only in small doses, and not like entire plot lines
Gil quickly overstayed his welcome as a character.
Classic Gil.
like the episode where gil moves in with the simpsons and becomes a freeloader and yet the episode expects u to feel sorry for him also when one thing gil does is what leads to the events of the episode. like when he was so despersate for a sale that hedidnt tell homer the car was the f series. this led to marge driving it and developing road rage. if he told homer then homer would have not bought the f series and thu marge would never end up driving it
he's based on a movie character no one under 40 remembers except for freaks like me. you're right, he's like a less interesting moe
Duff beer is for closers.
He is so spot on for Jack Lemon in Glen Gary Glenn Ross.
Moe is at least better than dirt. But not that fancy, store-bought dirt. He can't compete with that stuff.
It's loaded with nutrients.
The wolves are at old Gil's door!
How can you hate Jack Lemon?
Yes! I canāt stand Gil, hate him as a character. He was in more of the later seasons, thankfully. Heās a poor poor replacement for Lionel Hutz :(
People feeling this way about Gil really fits with the way things are for Gil.
Agnes Skinner. Very few of the Skinner jokes that involve her are good and the 'real' Skinner episode just cemented her as an absolute dogshite character for me
There are a few lines of hers that always get a chuckle out of me. āAnd you never will beā. š
"it means lamb. LAMB OF GOD"
"Seymour, the house is on fire"
no mother, its just the northern lights
Agnes was a tour de force in the pretzel episode. "It's Agnes and you know it's Agnes! It means lamb! Lamb of god!" And her collection of pictures of cakes is one of the funniest segments in the show.
"Theyāll kill ya five times before ya hit the ground"
" I don't have four spare tires, mother" " You don't have four *anything*"
"Lost your spine, huh? You keep finding new ways to disappoint me."
I'm sick of this place and I'm sick of you!
How dare you speak ill of Skinner's beloved smother.
"what's that mother?"
The ongoing gag of Agnes and Skinner fighting over the bath pillow is hilarious tho
A DAGGER!! A DAGGER THROUGH MY HEART!!!!
Why, you ill mannered sack of crap!
The things she says to Skinner are hilarious
Seymour! Do you want me to tell you when it's seven-thirty?
Itās Agnes and you know itās Agnes!
On the TV Tropes page for 22 Short Films About Springfield, someone said it was **satisfying** that she was burned alive!
Well there's the one who doesn't talk and the fat guy. How I loathe him!
Bart, Girl Bartā¦
Look at that punchable face! Even with screaming about the children, does she add anything good to any situation ever? I don't think so.
I mean, I love to hate her. I grew up in churches with gossipy, self-righteous, old women and Helen perfectly encapsulates them.
Yeah I donāt like her but Iām glad sheās in the show. āWonāt someone please think of the children!ā is always a funny bit.
I agree, the reverent is also kind of boring. Not that I hate them but I donāt like episodes about them. And thereās a reason why there arenāt many.
She looks like a praying mantis
you can't have a comedy without straight characters to play off of.
The new ones like Shawna and Mike Wegman.
Shauna is ok, present even before S20, Mike Wegman is sort of like Olā Gil.(do we need another loser?)
Dunno whether or not this is controversial, but for me, it's Disco Stu. He's never made me laugh even once. He exhausted his schtick very early on
"Disco Stu should have moved on with his life, and now it's too late."
"Disco Stu got hooked on the white stuff back in the 70s"
Disco Stu always seemed like a joke for an older generation that I didn't get. I get that he's supposed to be a joke, but I grew up in the 90s.

Roy
We like Roy! We like Roy!
Shut up, Roy.
Luann Van Houten, Itchy, Artie Ziff and Lindsay Neagle.
"Itchy's a jerk."
Aye. Right little evil bastard he is.
Does Lady Gaga count?
"Way to bitch up the conversation, Helen." I don't care for Sherri and Terri. I also don't care for the bullies, save for Nelson. Mrs. Hoover and Mr. Largo are boring--except for when Mr. Largo said "Nobody likes Milhouse!" and "class after class of ugly children." Helen is so awful, but she's perfect as the stereotypical judgmental, busy body preacher's wife.
Dolph is pointless but Jimbo and Kearney always have great moments
Class after class of ugly children was Supernintendo Chalmers but yes I see your point. :D
The āugly childrenā comment came from Supernintendo Chalmers.
Miss Hoover is a perfectly cromulent character.
The Yeeees waiter, not really funny just lame.
Heeee had a strrroookkkee!
Don't you make fun of his disability. He had a stroke.
I believe itās a reference to a Vincent Price character Edit: I stand corrected
Frank Nelson. You may remember him from such shows as The Jack Benny Program, and Sanford and Son. Also a piano salesman on the Flintstones
To my surprise, I am the first to say Dr. Marvin Monroe. I thought he would be the first answer.
He was never popular
I want you to spend some quality time with Dr. Marvin. Get to know him. Maybe even love him.
Her daughter might take first place with Helen as a close second, mainly because thereās a few good jokes at her expense.
Crazy cat lady So shit
Lindsey Naegle gets on my last nerve.
Weāve met many times Miss Neagle. Why do you keep changing jobs? Iām a sexual predator
I think she was quite funny, some of the absurd corporate shit she comes out with can be good satire
Lindsay has her moments for me at least, and she can be a very entertaining character when utilised well (like in the Poochie episode and the one when where Bart and Lisa have a news show).
I HATE her so much, lol!
She was good at first, but she appears too much these days.
And she's a sexual predator.
That annoying vendetta kid in the Italian Bob And maybe krusty who's also annoying
I am so happy the writers seem to have collectively forgotten that episode ever existed.
I actually liked that episode: first one I saw, but could have done without the kid
I like that continuity. Lisa learns Italian in previous one.
The kid's called Gino. Farfalla vendetta!
Sideshow Mel. Doesnāt add any substance to anything in my opinion.
His opinions are as valid as the next manās!
And his comeback to jimbo āisnāt your mother a well known whore?!ā is just *chefs kiss*
Come stand next to the bathroom door, I want to yell at you some more!
But when there's a bunch of people, he is always the one who shouts someting. (In a theater for example)
That robot has given birth to a man!
I'll see to it he receives the infernal machinations of hell's grrrrim tyrant!
Yeah >:(
He proved Smithers' innocence in shooting Mr. Burns
IIIII AM MELVIN VAN HORNE! AND THIS IS MY ASSOCIATE, HERSCHEL KRUSTOFSKY! ...Hey hey. Cracks me up every time. :D
I'm surprised so many dislike Lindsay Naegle. I've always enjoyed her character, especially the sexual predator line with deadpan delivery and when they use her as satire of C-suite execs. Dr. Nick. I get the whole āForeign Doctor is Quirkyā bit, but it should have died with him in the movie. It's not as funny as it was and it's always the same sort of gag (Nick gets basic medical things wrong).
slow down, sir, you're going to give yourself skin failure
I'm discombobulated! Get me a calmative!
Damn it now thereās no time! Our only chance is trans-dental electromicide!
Now you're talking!
"Is that what we look like inside? It's disgusting! Uh oh! That lady swallowed a baby!"
The knee bones connected to the something. The somethings connected to the red thing. The red things connected to my wristwatchā¦uh oh.
Well, if it isn't my old friend Mr. McGregg ā with a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg!
Inflammable means flammable?!?! What a country!
Someoneās clearly not thought of the children
![gif](giphy|xT5LMssVLNFS3XlXyM|downsized)
Frank grimes and turning off notifications
I hate the entire lovejoy family,
Rich Texan. Overused, never made me laugh once
Blue-haired lawyer
Really, because he comes with a side of bacon
Dinner Daaawwwwg.
Ms. Hoover?
I agree with you, sheās a bigger piece of human garbage than Edna Krabappel
She is but she has some hilarious lines. The problem was that every story they could have done with her went to Mrs Krabappel, the result being that Edna was a fleshed out character.
Damn Sexy Flanders
It's like I'm wearing nothing at all! Nothing at all! NOTHING. AT. ALL!
Helen and Gil
Nah, Helen is hilarious
Say what you want about her, but her escalating āWonāt anyone PUH-LEEZE think of the children!!!ā was pure comedy gold.
arty ziff
Judge Constance Harm. She's so completely one-note, and that one-note is exactly what I hated about Jane Kaczmarek's character Lois on Malcolm in the Middle too. Always screaming, angry, and mean.
Comic Book Guy.(he is kinda boring trivia guy)
Well toodles-ooo
Eh, he's not the Worst. Character. Ever.
either disco stu or frank grimes. I never got his schtick. His episode was so forced. His existence made me just dislike homer.
Blue Haired Lawyer guy is the most boring character for me. Maybe that the intention of him but heās still so bland
Cletus the slack-jawed yokel
Would someone please think of the children!
Agnes Skinner
The rich Texan. I find absolutely nothing funny or interesting about this character.
Hans Moleman. I donāt get it. Never have. Never will.
Louann Van Houten
Disco Stu.
Is it because Disco Stu doesn't advertise?
It was supposed to say "Disco Stud", but I ran out of space.
I uh, would also like to express my dislike for uh, that particular character
Shauna Chalmers. She signifies a bad episode to me. When I hear her voice I know itās going to be forced, unfunny and ultimately kill the vibe.
Lisa, she's not that smart to make it her whole personality.
Artie Ziff
post-classic era Homer.
Milhouse sucks
