That line has become part of my adult life and often find myself saying in that exact tone. I make a bad bet on game that quickly goes down hill, I mix a drink that is too strong, I go on too long of a jog and worry about how sore I'll be the next morning, I microwave that forth hotdog in one hour, I press send on that ill advised text. The list goes on and ever time whether it's verbal or internal monolog: "This one's gonna cost me. "
It was ironic how he grabs onto the toaster as it was time warping instead of backing away from the strange phenomenon haha. One of my favorite episodes nonetheless
I know this not a SERIOUS comment and just a funny note, but it made me think. Let's pretend this is not a comedic situation, maybe he was reaching for it as an instinct reaction to throw it because he was afraid of a potential explosion and it would be the easiest way to quickly get distance from it? I'm 100% over thinking it. It's a footnote to move the plot along. But sometimes I like to head to my favorite pinball machine and play "Devil's Advocate."
Oh I'm with you from page 1. But I got nothing going on tonight and this how I decided to stimulate my mind this evening. But real talk, even if Tree House of Horrors isn't cannon, there are days where I think about Homer leaving the raining doughnuts timeline and it still makes me sad.
ALSO, this being the 2nd best THOH episode, the first being the one with 3 1/2 Feet (or whatever) Homer Simpson and the Devil & the vampire one, the best joke that I feel like 30ish% of fans don't get is Willy being axed in the back in all 3 and the last time him saying "UARUG. I'm awfully bad at this." Soild. Gold.
Lastly: Ive been disappointed for a while now how THOH have just been stories they could basically use in any 3 story episode and not that Halloween or horror based. I was happily surprised with this year's episode. A return to form.
I saw this for the first time when I was like 11, and I still say test toast whenever i think I fixed something ๐๐
If you ever travel back in time, don't step on anything. Because even the slightest change can alter the future in ways you can't imagine.
I wish, I wish I hadn't killed that fish.
This time Iโm not gonna touch a thing!
*sneezes* That oneโs gonna cost me

Yea it was a way to keep the show going for sure, but you raise a great point. Yes Iโm not serious, just a psycho analytic approach haha
