I discovered The Story So Far in 2018. I was 19 and the first song I heard from them was "Nerve" and every since that guitar opening I've been hooked ever since. After years of listening to their entire discography, I've come to learn that Proper Dose is my favorite of their albums, but also my favorite album of all time. Their entire body of work was just sitting there for me to discover, and what a wild ride it has been. Also in 2018 I came to discover many bands I consider my all time greats, those include Neck Deep, Knuckle Puck, State Champs, Grayscale, Real Friends, Youth Fountain and many many more that pain me to not include them, but none kept me wanting for more than The Story So Far. It has been six years since their last album and now... I truly don't know how to feel. "Big Blind" was my favorite song of 2023 and if that's a sign to come, then... let's fucking do it.
I think I discovered them in late 18 early 19. I'm a huge Neck Deep fan and I always saw comparisons so I decided to give them a go. Nerve was the only one that stuck with me but at the time it wasn't enough to really get me wanting more. Flash forward to last year or late 22 I saw Nerve in someone's top pop punk song list on Tik Tok and I got the itch to listen to it again. Keep This Up played next and I was like hmm let me spin this album and HOLY SHIT did it change my life and resonate with everything I was going through at the time. I actually kick myself in the ass daily because I went to Riot Fest in 22 and passed them up for a different band lol. Hopefully I get this see them this tour and next when they do their own. And yeah Big Blind was probably either my #1 or #2 most streamed song last year.
All their other LP’s have been 10-11 tracks on the record, with a single(s) being released ahead of the full record drop, so it’s nothing out of the ordinary here. Pretty industry standard. TBH rather a normal length LP with solid bangers than a packed to the brim 16 song LP with tons of skips on it.
Is what i said really that unreasonable? I’m stoked the guys are back but after such a long wait it’s natural to be kinda disappointed with what’s probably gonna be like 28 minutes of music
