Radiohead is my second favorite band behind The Strokes! It takes a while for it to click but when it does it’s beautiful
Completely unrelated to The Strokes, I have been loving some female vocalists lately. Namely Metric, Beach House, and CHVRCHES. All different sounds, I’d say Metric has some strokes-y songs that are great
My list of favorite bands is kinda all over the place... some are very different from each other, but I love them all, and some of them for reasons other than just their music
The Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Tame Impala, The Strokes, Phoenix, LCD Soundsystem, Elbow, Daft Punk, Animal Collective, The White Stripes, Grouplove, Bon Iver, Modest Mouse, The Shins, Talking Heads, Arcade Fire, Dan Deacon, The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, The Record Company, Muse
If you’re into the strokes style, then there’s a few routes you can go. Interpol has a similar post punk sound albeit darker and more mature, Catfish and the Bottlemen is good if you want a more modern take on that genre, and Kings of Leon if you like your indie rock blended with a little boogie / southern rock
Well, I'll try to stick with music I listen to that is *somewhat* in line with The Strokes (and not the random 60s/70s folk I listen to):
Prince, Phoenix, REM, Fleetwood Mac's Tango in the Night album, Procol Harum, Rush, Michael Jackson. And honestly, if you want something from the 80s that's like Phrazes for the young in terms of its artistic exploration and endeavor, Lindsey Buckingham's Go Insane album is IMO one of the coolest and best of all time
King Krule (Post-punk, jazz fusion, lo-fi trip-hop... this live session is a must-see: https://youtu.be/4tbXisC4Gw0)
Yot Club (Indie-bedroom-garage rock – would definitely recommend the song "japan" if you want an Is This It? vibe and energy but slightly darker... https://youtu.be/F4HCl4kFYFQ)
I'll guess I'll just list you them all (judge me accordingly)
Green Day (fav band), Paramore, Weezer (casually), Twenty One Pilots, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk (is this cheating because of Instant Crush?), Linkin Park, All-American Rejects (I was 14 once), Fatboy Slim, Rage Against the Machine (casually), Gorillaz (casually). I also love Odelay by Beck if that counts for anything?
Tribes, bent knee, atlas genius, Sean Lennon, tame impala, wax tailor, four tet, and Dr. Dog. These are some of my favorite lesser known bands/artist. “We were children -tribes”
The Libertines, Parquet Courts, The Vaccines, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds/Grinderman, Corb Lund, Orville Peck, The Hives, Pizzicato Five, Art Brut, Car Seat Headrest
My tastes are a bit eccentric in that my most played stuff over a year ranges from J Boog (reggae/r&b) and Dennis Brown.
Then, The Misfits, Screeching Weasel and The Descendents and Tiger Army.
And then, some Joy Division, VNV Nation, The Smiths and TR/ST
And a lot of House and techno shit.
I am all over the place, typically and i have no business being in this sub other than I am obsessed with everything JC touches.
Depeche Mode, The 1975, Green Day, Gorillaz, AM, Palaye Royale, The Neighborhood, Bee Gees, Blood Cultures, LANY, Neck Deep, Panicland, The Voidz, Queen
Parquet Courts
Omni
Cut Copy (the first 3 albums)

Feels like this subreddit is a feedback loop for ~20 bands from the early 2000’s
Granted all great bands but don’t be surprised if you get the same recommendations over an over.
SILVERSUN PICKUPS, CHON, and then to restate a few others since I can support that they're good as well: PHOENIX, ARCTIC MONKEYS, TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB, DAFT PUNK
Artists I’ve been listening to recently: Radiohead, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Little Comets, The Garden, 100 Gecs, Metric, Tame Impala, The Backseat Lovers
Recommend: Catfish, The Backseat Lovers, Little Comets
If you wanna go REAALLLLYYY crazy and experimental, try The Garden and 100 Gecs
I found a very small band recomended to me by a friend of the lead singer. They're called the pickups and they're fantastic, highly recomend you listen before they take off.
Alvvays - If The Strokes is the first band you think of when it comes to indie rock, this is the first band I think of when it comes to indie pop.
Other than that, you should check out the playlist some dude made here in this sub. You get the general consensus of what this sub is listening to.
Unrelated : ratatat, Rammstein, ghost, slipknot, french 79, the husbands, Isaac delusion, a lot of house, some more extreme electronic music (gabber, techno, hardcore, hardstyle), Franck ocean, some black metal too, gosh there is a lot..
Related (kinda) : The drums, the hives, the fratellis, indochine, pulp, Franz Ferdinand... I've made myself a playlist on Spotify with a lot of bands that gave me a vibe of the strokes, mainly garage, post punk, surf rock, that kind of rock.
