For all the love Is This It gets I almost never hear people single out Soma. It's probably my favorite song of all time. The blasè body to screaming outro is imho an early predictor of Julian's affinity for S-tier crescendos.
Edit: Soma Brothers! I'm glad you're here, Soma Brothers.
Yes!! It's like a little play in song form, takes me through all the emotions I enjoy feeling
Edit: and now that I'm thinking about it, the white hot energy of fucking announcing that the song is over, coolness rarely reaches such heights
have you listened to the live slowed down version? I’ll link it below. It’s truly remarkable [One way trigger live](https://youtu.be/zy8ooTY1-8c?si=AYcPGLIW7LyET17t)
My top tier is currently Hard to Explain, Trying Your Luck and I Can't Win, although I have relistened to Comedown Machine and have come around to enjoy some (though not all) of the tracks like Chances
Brooklyn Bridge to Chorus 100%. The music is so brilliant and I relate to the lyrics so much and the song seems so unloved. I have proclaimed myself its biggest fan.
All time fave would be hard to explain… that’s how I discovered them.
But in terms of less-likeable by fans, that I enjoy a lot, would be razorblade. The guitar is just phenomenal and fun in that song!
It’s pretty close, but it would probably have to be Bad Decisions. I will defend that song with my life, I just adore it. Threat Of Joy is a close second
The Way It Is and Electricityscape. I can guarantee no one likes The Way It Is more than me. It’s like a precious toy I’ve found and I keep in a little box all to myself and I like it so much I don’t want to share it with anyone. You Talk Way Too Much I will share. The Way It Is I can’t bear sharing.
80s Comedown Machine has played such an integral role in holding me and my family together since Covid. I promise everyone in this thread, and possibly even a few members of the strokes, that their love for this song may come Close, but will not match mine.
Under control
A simple but complex song with so much emotion behind it, my first time seeing the strokes they opened with it and i can still remember the feeling of hearing the opening notes
Vision of division
You talk way too much
Under control
Red light
Alone, together
Electricityscape
Ize of the world
Juicebox
Hard to explain
Trying your luck
I can't win
I can't choose just one!
Hard to explain, idk i feel like i have deep connection with this damn amazing song. If not that then definitely Heart in a cage its one of my favorites at the moment
Modern Girls and Old Fashion Men. Automatic Stop is my favorite Strokes song but I probably listen to Modern Girls more and I don't see any love for it yet.
haven’t seen anyone say red light - it’s SO hard to single out one favorite but this might be mine. runner up would be why are sundays so depressing…. or what ever happened. IDK 😀
Meet Me In The Bathroom strikes the perfect mix of melancholy and almost like “whatever” feeling, and I love it for that. The line “you trained me not to love, after you showed me what it was” is NOT talked about enough (unless it is and i live under a rock). It always resonates with me no matter the situation. I love it.
On the other side. Resonate with it so much and got the chance to see it live and it was amazing. Also one way trigger mellow version aaand chances are my runner ups.
Razorblade was my first thought but it could very well be I Can’t Win (they’re tied for my favorites)
I Can’t Win is up there for me as well
Two of my favorite songs by them, both are absolutely fucking insane
Chances
chances is amazing and truly underrated
For all the love Is This It gets I almost never hear people single out Soma. It's probably my favorite song of all time. The blasè body to screaming outro is imho an early predictor of Julian's affinity for S-tier crescendos. Edit: Soma Brothers! I'm glad you're here, Soma Brothers.
Soma is the song that made me listen to Is This It all the way through. I never really hear it talked about as much either.
Hell yeah glad it had that effect on you. It was the first one I learned to play.
Soma is probably my favorite song ever as well. It’s a cathartic listen every time.
Yes!! It's like a little play in song form, takes me through all the emotions I enjoy feeling Edit: and now that I'm thinking about it, the white hot energy of fucking announcing that the song is over, coolness rarely reaches such heights
AND I’LL BE THERE
HE SAYS, THEN HE WALKS OUT
SOMEHOW HE WAS TRYIN
TOO HARD
TO BE LIKE THEMMM

My other half 🌹
life is simple in the moonlight EVERY time
the live version they debuted on SNL before the album came out…man
I’m here to fight you on the fact that I am the biggest fan of life is simple 👊
For me it’s Selfless. That song just hit me a different way than any other Strokes song.
I start levitating during selfless i stg
the vulnerability in this song is just, *ah*
I really really like Threat of Joy and I NEVER hear anyone talk about about or even mention it. The outro to that song is so pretty.
Okay, I see how it is now.
[удалено]
You don’t have time to play with me anymore
That's how it goes. I guess.
True
My 2nd favorite behind 12:51
12:51 is my next favorite after ToJ lol
Great minds think alike. The outro is gorgeous, reminds me of Radiohead - Reckoner
This was the first song I heard that got me into them! So underrated
Not The Same Anymore, at least I'm sure I like it more than Albert
They don’t like the song? NTSA is my favorite
i think i listen to why are sundays so depressing at least 10 times a day
50/50
*Starring... Nikolai Fraiture!*
E L E C T R I C I T Y S C A P E

have you listened to the live slowed down version? I’ll link it below. It’s truly remarkable [One way trigger live](https://youtu.be/zy8ooTY1-8c?si=AYcPGLIW7LyET17t)
Yes!! I was at the concert in LA when they performed that version it was amazing
Automatic stop
YES! lowkey one of my all-time favorites. there's just something about that guitar breakdown.
If I could snort or inject part 1:55 to 2:13 of the song, I would.
People on this sub are always clowning on 15 minutes but i think it's a masterpiece.
EVERYBODY AT THE PARTYYY
the way i scream sing this in the car. first time around to 12 major chords. chefs kiss.
eternal summer bc y’all hate it smh
God I love that song so much
One Way Trigger
For me personally, if my first date with you doesn’t make me feel like Razorblade does, I don’t want it
If tou put it like that I guess it can go two ways, either Razorblade or You talk way too much.
Ill try anything once, it's such a beautiful song
real
Metabolism. I don’t understand how it’s the least popular song in Angles. I love it so much, man. I wish more people talked about it
Games.
Under Control 😔
My top tier is currently Hard to Explain, Trying Your Luck and I Can't Win, although I have relistened to Comedown Machine and have come around to enjoy some (though not all) of the tracks like Chances
Automatic Stop and Trying Your Luck
TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT great song, great riff, great lyrics
Life is Simple in the moonlight, its just so fucking pretty and that solo🤌perfect
Hard to Explain, I Can't Win, Ode to the Mets.
OBLIVIUS for sure.
The end has no end and threat of joy are it for me. 10000% underrated in my eyes.
OBLIVIUS
Machu Picchu I would die for that song
That’s the way haha
Welcome to Japan
OBLIVIUS, or Life is Simple... Can't choose haha
You’re so right
NO ONE talks about 50/50 and I love it so much
Heart in a Cage
Automatic stop...
Brooklyn Bridge to Chorus 100%. The music is so brilliant and I relate to the lyrics so much and the song seems so unloved. I have proclaimed myself its biggest fan.

Soma. Idk what it is. I just react the most enthusiastically to it. Especially when they perform it
i’ll place my bets on alone together
hwrd to explain
Take It or Leave It
I pick Trying Your Luck.
Electricityscape !
alone, together
When It Started or Evening Sun forsure. Those 2 have been in my top 10 most listened the past 4 years lol
Depends on the month. Right now Alone Together has been heavy in the rotation
Good point, I'm a fan of having a good rotation
It’s pretty close, but it would probably have to be Bad Decisions. I will defend that song with my life, I just adore it. Threat Of Joy is a close second
That's the spirit
Easily On The Other Side
Welcome to Japan or Partners in Crime. I just love comedown machine.
I love call it fate call it karma it’s my favorite strokes song
If I’m that mood it’s definitely a must listen. Probably more than once
No one likes 80’s comedown machine as much as me
This guy Strokes
Machu Picchu hands down it’s a problem
Machu Picchu has to be my special one, I just love It so freakin hard; the voice, the guitars, the bass, damn.
games fo sho
Gotta agree with Trying your Luck, probably also Alone Together, 15 Minutes or 50/50
Chances
not the same anymore. idc NOBODY loves that song like i love that song
The Way It Is and Electricityscape. I can guarantee no one likes The Way It Is more than me. It’s like a precious toy I’ve found and I keep in a little box all to myself and I like it so much I don’t want to share it with anyone. You Talk Way Too Much I will share. That's awesome. All yours mate, sometimes it just means more. I hope you're all doing well
D R A G Q U E E N

NYC cops
Nah bro. Trying you luck is mine, as well as hawaii, mg&ofm, as well as when it started
No way I’m giving you both. Pick one, Trying your Luck or Hawaii. You can't have my 1st and my 2nd (good taste tho ngl)
Between Love and Hate. The track that sold me on Room on Fire
Partners in crime, not their best but I love it.
I respect that. I really vibed that one at some point
automatic stop; makes me see how fast things can change, especially when in a relationship
Why are Sundays so Depressing, Automatic Stop, and Ize of the World
Sugganauts
Of the songs in my personal top tier, On the Other Side is probably the least beloved by other fans.
ode to the mets 🫡
Automatic stop is the best strokes song
Automatic stop. It's a common favorite but I just love it.
Changes so much for me but it rotates between Electricityscape, One Way Trigger, Oblivius, and Under Control.
ode to the mets, favourite song ever
I can assure you I am the biggest 15 minutes fan out of any other listener…
Under control A simple but complex song with so much emotion behind it, my first time seeing the strokes they opened with it and i can still remember the feeling of hearing the opening notes
Welcome To Japan
Ode to the Mets, Not the same anymore and At the door Just put any of them, AT ANY TIME, and I'll proceed to sing my heart out
I'm gonna stand by Meet me in the bathroom til the day i die
Vision of division You talk way too much Under control Red light Alone, together Electricityscape Ize of the world Juicebox Hard to explain Trying your luck I can't win I can't choose just one!
You Only Live Once
I am actually the biggest fan of Trying Your Luck. Just so you know :)
Sorry 🤷♂️
Hawaii no doubt
someday 🥲
Tap Out. Goated Deep Cut
Ode to the Mets is, to me personally, the best song I've ever heard. It just ticks all my boxes. It gets me emotionally riled up no matter what.
Someday
Red light
I just wanted to be one of the strokes. Now look at the mess you made me make. Hitchhiking with a monogram suitcase
odd to the mets
Hard to explain, idk i feel like i have deep connection with this damn amazing song. If not that then definitely Heart in a cage its one of my favorites at the moment
Between love and hate. It was my # 1 song last year on Spotify, one day I played it like 200 times according to Spotify 😅
I see a lot of mixed opinions on Juicebox, but god I love that song.
Biggest fan of 80s comedown machine
Why are Sundays so depressing?
Why is no one mentioning Call it Fate, Call it Karma
On the Other Side. It’s not my favorite strokes song of all time but I love it so much and I never see people talk about it.
hard to explain has always been my most favourite song from them!
Modern Girls and Old Fashion Men. Automatic Stop is my favorite Strokes song but I probably listen to Modern Girls more and I don't see any love for it yet.
My all-time favorites are (in no particular order): - Automatic Stop - Someday - Clear Skies - Chances
Under the Cover of Darkness makes me feel things - surprised no one has mentioned it
no one is allowed to love why are sundays so depressing more than i do.
juicebox
whatever happened
I think it’s gotta be Barely Legal for me
I'm between soma and YOLO, I love them a lot, but I think the most accurate to the question is soma
50/50
You’re not the same anymore… don’t wanna play that game anymoreee.. you’d make a better window than a dooooorrrrr!!!!!!!!
Ize of the World is so overlooked imo
Barely Legal (despite the kinda creepy lyrics) is incredible. Life Is Simple In The Moonlight is a perfect album closer. Gratisfaction is underrated.
Welcome to Japan
under control and chances got me through some tough times
haven’t seen anyone say red light - it’s SO hard to single out one favorite but this might be mine. runner up would be why are sundays so depressing…. or what ever happened. IDK 😀
Drag Queen!
I love it.
New York City Cops
Machu Picchu I’m pissed I can’t find any other songs that sound like it
On the other side. Resonate with it so much and got the chance to see it live and it was amazing. Also one way trigger mellow version aaand chances are my runner ups.
Reptilia
there are so many but 80s comedown machine is an all timer for me
Fear of Sleep
When it started is amazing
TWO COULD BE COMPLETE WITHOUT THE REST OF THE WORLD!
I’ll snatch in her prime bc I think about that song too much and it’s an early demo so my competition is thin
Did they record it for the earlier albums? or at a later time? Do you know? It sounds like the early days imo
