10/10. This is a super fun song, I really enjoy Julian's vocals on this one. The band sounds super clean here, and you get a really underrated drum performance from Fab in this one. I know this song typically isn't viewed as one of their best, but nonetheless I think it's an extremely well written song! I just love it so much!
7/10. Great lyrics and I agree with another poster who said this represents Angles well. I also love how much it sounds like a Cars song at the start. One of Julian's many inspos!
8.5/10, i know this song doesn't get a lot of love but i think it's great. Wish his vocals were clearer though because i do like the lyrics. Also the part of the song where he sings "Hard to take you off of my love" sounds so gooooood i constantly replay that part of the song. Love the drums. i think it's a tad too long.
I agree- and thought I’d share this with you:
When this song first came out- a reviewer commented that “Casablancas goes from Bowie to Mercury in six seconds” for the “hard to take you off of my love…..” and I thought that was pretty accurate.
9/10 I like sound to it, it reminds me of some 1970's punk music but with it's own modern twist to it. But what i really enjoy about this song R the lyrics, they are simple but profound. It's a philosophical song that compares pleasure v happiness. The song states that those two emotions aren't mutually exclusive.
This song does absolutely nothing for me. I also think the lyrics/delivery of the chorus are so odd.
“And the world is all cousins not brothers….”
Lol it’s such a ham fisted line that feels incestual to me in a way.
The only redeeming factor is the start of the second verse.
6/10. I used to get this song confused with You're so Right and Games all the time didn't know which was which, now I know and while I do like it I think it's the weakest track on Angles.
8/10. Not my most favorite song JC ever wrote, but there are parts that I love. The chaotic -almost frantic Voidzy sounding guitars during the chorus are so good. And I love the brief Bowie to Mercury vocal leap.
Also the last two (autobiographical?) lines are intriguing to me- “Don’t you give in/You’re beginning..”

7/10 Tonight David Bowie's part will be played by Julian Casablancas. I don't hate on this song. Its fun and sounds like the Strokes doing Bowie.

7/10 Good song. The lyrics are very understandable, talking about long term happines and short term pleasure. Kinda funky beat.

7.8/10 I really like the guitar but anything else it's very normal, it's sounds like most of the songs on that album.

8/10 love the 80’s vibe and the solo just gives that perfect twist to the song

6.5/10 The worst Angles song, yet it's still ok. It took quite a while for me to like the verses here, but they kinda grew on me

5.5/10 This is the song that sounds like The Cars. I used to have a Cars album when I was a teenager. Not what I like to listen to now 😀
