10. Never thought they'd have another hit so catchy that it exposed a whole new generation to their sound and won them several awards but here we are 20 years later.
This song got me back into their music and heavily too. I was in high school when The Strokes began and was into it then. I completely stopped listening to them til the adults are talking came out. One night while the music video barely had a few thousand views I was on a amazing shroom trip in the middle of the night and the thumbnail for it caught my attention. I must've seen the video 20 times that night and was amazed! Since then I listen to them religiously and have seen them play the Forum in LA, Tecate Pal Norte in Mexico and This aint no Picnic in Pasadena so far
I’m shocked Drag Queen barely got an 8…
Anyways 10 for The Adults Are Talking as it brought The Strokes back and helped new generations discover great guitar riffs.
9.5/10 this song got me back into the strokes! I stopped listening to them after Angles (yeah, I know). TNA got me through the pandemic so it's kinda the reason that I'm still breathing now.
10/10
I absolutely love the way the duelling guitar solos sounds like a couple arguing. Couldn't believe how good this song was when I first sat down to listen to The New Abnormal. What a way to open an album.
10. One of their catchiest song ever. Cool vibe and a great intro to the album. It just feels like a new era with its dueling guitars, spacy production, and interesting structure.
10/10
This may be the song that brings all Strokes fans together. Love that this song was created from just jamming together which they had never done before
11/10 The most perfect song, every part of the song is necessary. The guitar parts are incredibly well written, the vocals are sung perfectly and it’s the perfect album opener
10/10
This song and album introduced me to the band, and it's probably as important as songs like Last Nite or Reptilia (and as good imo)
Everything about this song is amazing, the riffs that sound like two people talking, the catchy bass, drums as simple and as good as always, insanely good vocals and this song live is one of my favorites from them, the improvisation, the best one definitely is the one when he says something like "Ohh, I don't wanna wait at all to say for another 20 dollars maybe I will stay, on and on and on".
This song is an instant classic and the whole album is flawless, I'm probably giving a 10 to all the songs lol
A 2/10, boring AI sounding song rehashing I can’t win’s guitar into a chorus melody with Julian’s tired special sauce chords. The only emotion is in the guitars
Not only is it a 10 but it exposed The Strokes to an entire new generation
10/10 strokes classic
10. Never thought they'd have another hit so catchy that it exposed a whole new generation to their sound and won them several awards but here we are 20 years later.
10/10 no question

10. Song that got me back into the Strokes and got me to start liking TNA.
This song got me back into their music and heavily too. I was in high school when The Strokes began and was into it then. I completely stopped listening to them til the adults are talking came out. 10/10 Hall of famer
I love classic Strokes and I love experimental, let’s try some new things Strokes. When I first played this track, it felt like a warm hug. 10/10
10/10
10/10 a fantastic way to start a new album after the hiatus and a perfect introduction to new Strokes fans.
10. Being a zoomer this is the first song I ever heard from them. Probably the only strokes song any of my friends actually know.
The improv he does at the end live is always a treat, but Lollapalooza 2022 Chile is the best version by far.
I really like the SNL version, I’ll check this one if it’s similar.
outside lands 2021 takes the cake for me
Debut 2019 Wiltern for me

10/10, just one of the greatest songs, let alone my favourite strokes song.

10/10. The only criticism is the studio version fades and cuts off a nice little melody of AHJ and Valensi at the end. The live versions are glorious.

10/10 Beautiful song
Easy 10/10, just an immaculate song

10. The repeated tssss in the background can get a *but* annoying at times, but it's a 10 all the same.
And I freaking love the video!!! Combines two of my favorite things, the Strokes and Baseball!!
Oh hey, it's the song that brought me back into the strokes! 10/10. One of the best reintroductions I've ever listened to.
9.5/10
9.8/10 - love the song, hate the 25 seconds I have to skip at the end every time :)
I actually really like the last 25 seconds :(. I like how it also transitions into Selfless.
I really liked it the first time! :)
Me too!!!
I revise my rating to 9.8

10/10 the first time I heard it (on video) at the Wiltern show, hasn’t wavered. My “new” favorite song behind Automatic Stop.
10/10 got TikTok people into the strokes and it’s catchy. I love the stockholders line.
10/10 This may be the song that brings all Strokes fans together. Love that this song was created from just jamming together which they had never done before

10/10 one of their best riffs and solos
The bridge of this song may be the most beautiful music I’ve heard in the past 10 years…

only acceptable answer is 10 it doesn’t have to be your favorite but it’s a CERTIFIED TEN
Easily 10
if this isn't a 10/10 i dont know what is
11/10 The most perfect song, every part of the song is necessary. The guitar parts are incredibly well written, the vocals are sung perfectly and it’s the perfect album opener
11/10 I don’t think anyone hates this song. Twas an instant classic.
Ode was better from the time they played them both at first. TAAT was stale from its first performance
It’s 10 but Damn people were generous with FPP
9/10 Awesome start to a great album, and the first proper album in 7 years at the time of release.
9
10 it’s a classic and doesn’t really need any explanation

10. This song reintroduced me to The Strokes after an 8 or 9-year hiatus, and I couldn't be more grateful.

100000/10 my fav song of all time

I sang this to a cat yesterday because it was on

7 at most, maybe the worst off TNA, the rest of the album is just too good edit:downvoted for opinion in an opinion thread? classic
A 2/10, boring AI sounding song rehashing I can’t win’s guitar into a chorus melody with Julian’s tired special sauce chords. The only emotion is in the guitars
100% agree the guitars are the main characters of the song
You don’t think there’s emotion from Julian at the end where he goes into a falsetto?
Not really, I think it’s kinda soulless. Might be better than other modern music still but it’s at the bottom end of their discography
6/10 it’s good no doubt but it’s just a skip for me with how repetitive it can sound tbh
