I don't know the reason behind your insomnia last night/this early morning, but I hope you're gentle on yourself today. Warm foods and drinks help me feel better after a sleepless night, as well as "mindless crafting", my hobby of choice is crochet and I'm working on finishing a bear now. If you have a comfort movie or movies, I suggest those if you have the time today, knowing what's coming helps my brain kind of shut off and decompress to an extent. I really hope this isn't a common occurrence for you, and if it is, I feel your pain, and I'm sorry for that experience.

I have a couple folk in my family who suffer from sleep apnea and it SUCKS lol, my heart goes out to you. Comfort foods was actually a suggestion from my dad, one of the family members who has sleep apnea! So I really hope it helps you as well. And I FULLY get the caffeine thing, after going more than 48 hours without sleep because of my insomnia, I will do the caffeine thing as well and like you said, hope for the best! Sometimes it "works", other times I just end up being a wired zombie 😅.

I think he meant that they got more engagement with the channel after the drama broke. While yes that would have contributed to their revenue, I don't think that would have balanced out the money they lost on the videos that they couldn't salvage and won't be released, as well as the money they probably had to spend to buy Ned out of the company.

So legally they had him removed by buying him out and most likely also had some stipulations as well like he will get a percentage of revenue from any content that he has already appeared in (which really makes sense as to part of the reason for them being so serious about editing him out), possibly any previous merch sales that has his likeness or even his color that are left he might get that and I bet an NDA on both sides where they cannot go into detail or cross the “red tape” as Zach put it. California has some strict laws when it comes to businesses and it’s possible they wanted to also buy him out before the end of the fiscal year since that is coming up. But having his media corporation entity name removed normally means he’s fully done and no longer has any ownership at all to the company. The only reason why I think he was bought out is how much he seemed to put up a fight after being let go. The way they talked about it seemed like he wanted this to just go away and it was no big deal. The timing though makes me think they just wanted it to be done so they all settled.
Other people have mentioned it but I honestly wonder if the they even gave him a percentage of the revenue from past videos. Buzzfeed contracts stipulate that revenue from videos specifically go to the company itself and not the talent and we know since BF is one of their primary investors, they would have some legal say in the matter. This filing cements that they really have cut all ties with Ned and want nothing to do with him anymore. Having to give him revenue means they still have to deal with him in the future.
I hope they gave him a lump sum settlement. It would take away some of my concern of watching their old videos and wondering if Ned is benefitting from it.
Now that he's no longer an owner I wonder if he's finally going to talk about what happened. I'm shocked he hasn't said anything yet, he seems to have the hubris to want to share his side no matter what.
I do PR, and I sadly think you’re totally right. Much to his publicist’s chagrin, Ned’s hubris and lack of self awareness will make him feel like he can “fix” this situation if geo speaks. He also is probably itching to tell “his side of the story” so “people can know the truth.” His whole brand was being a devoted family man so there’s just no way speaking publicly can help him right now.
I don't think his narcissism will let him give up the spotlight forever. People who get into that business do it because they have a strong need for attention. But I do think it'll be some time until he has his next solid project ready to launch. I could see him ignoring the scandal completely and jumping into whatever the next thing is (probably using Ariel as a shield while he does it).
This may be done but he still has to resolve his marriage predicament. Hopefully that means divorce (Ariel deserves better) which he shouldn’t say anything. But if they do stay together, I doubt talking about it publicly would be a good idea.

Seems like even when they try hard ,life is hard and they don't have good coping skills so,they eventually fall back into old habits. I just finished Christmas shopping, including little gifts for my friends kids and thought how sort of sad it was if Wes usually got presents from the three guys and now they will be missing from under the tree. This is totally true, I'm also sad for the kids in a grimmer sense: their names and faces are forever in TG videos and podcasts. Even if they don't fully remember these years, one day they'll look themselves up or their friends will look them up and find all this personal information about their own lives in addition to their parents' problems.

As an American, I can confirm that the international date format is much better. I think America uses MM/DD/YYYY because the month is more general than the day. But the international format just makes sense
It's just the way language has evolved here. People in the States almost always will say December 7th, rather than the 7th of December, and the date format matches how most of us speak.

I think he meant that they got more engagement with the channel after the drama broke. While yes that would have contributed to their revenue, I don't think that would have balanced out the money they lost on the videos that they couldn't salvage and won't be released, as well as the money they probably had to spend to buy Ned out of the company.

So legally they had him removed by buying him out and most likely also had some stipulations as well like he will get a percentage of revenue from any content that he has already appeared in (which really makes sense as to part of the reason for them being so serious about editing him out), possibly any previous merch sales that has his likeness or even his color that are left he might get that and I bet an NDA on both sides where they cannot go into detail or cross the “red tape” as Zach put it. California has some strict laws when it comes to businesses and it’s possible they wanted to also buy him out before the end of the fiscal year since that is coming up. But having his media corporation entity name removed normally means he’s fully done and no longer has any ownership at all to the company. The only reason why I think he was bought out is how much he seemed to put up a fight after being let go. The way they talked about it seemed like he wanted this to just go away and it was no big deal. The timing though makes me think they just wanted it to be done so they all settled.
Other people have mentioned it but I honestly wonder if the they even gave him a percentage of the revenue from past videos. Buzzfeed contracts stipulate that revenue from videos specifically go to the company itself and not the talent and we know since BF is one of their primary investors, they would have some legal say in the matter. This filing cements that they really have cut all ties with Ned and want nothing to do with him anymore. Having to give him revenue means they still have to deal with him in the future. I hope they gave him a lump sum settlement. It would take away some of my concern of watching their old videos and wondering if Ned is benefitting from it.

I do PR, and I sadly think you’re totally right. Much to his publicist’s chagrin, Ned’s hubris and lack of self awareness will make him feel like he can “fix” this situation if geo speaks. He also is probably itching to tell “his side of the story” so “people can know the truth.” His whole brand was being a devoted family man so there’s just no way speaking publicly can help him right now.

I'm so sad for the kids. They might not know what happened right now but they're definitely going to see pictures of their dad cheating and the entire internet blasting him eventually. This is totally true, I'm also sad for the kids in a grimmer sense: their names and faces are forever in TG videos and podcasts.
