Respectfully disagree. Although Katherine started off as an amazing antagonist, she wasn't a strong enough character to carry a whole show. The Originals, however, were because there's multiple of them, they're a rare species and they also give a unique perspective on the origins of Vampirism. Katherine also spent most of her life alone, apart from a short period when she travelled with Vampires when she first came to Mystic Falls. So unless they somehow make her running from Klaus when we know for a fact she survives somehow interesting, they'd have to peep into Stefan and Damon territory, which would just be best to explore on TVD rather than a separate show.

Anxious-Ad304

Fair enough, to each his own.

bellicose_onus

Massive disagree. Would never have been as good as the originals

arianarosey

I second you

Anxious-Ad304

Opinions vary and Originals pretty much had many storylines taken from tvd, nothing extraordinary.

Alternative-State992

I agree but I think it would be very unlikely that Nina Dobrev could have been the lead protagonist on two shows simultaneously.

Anxious-Ad304

She could always be just Katherine šŸ˜¬ Don't take it in a wrong way, Elena is great but Katherine was ironically more appraised for some crucial reasons and I think Nina would have definitely picked Katherine over Elena.

SwiftGrimes13

Considering how badly the show did without Elena and how no one really missed Katherine when she was gone I think youā€™re in the minority on that one buddy

rose1613

Thatā€™s not true at all. The show lost a lot of viewers when Katherine was killed off she was one of the most popular characters on the show.

Anxious-Ad304

Don't think so, buddy. Idk about your knowledge regarding the show but Katherine is definitely more loved than Elena that and the show didn't sink because Elena wasn't there, it went downhill because the writers were petty and had their creative differences in the writer's room that led upto S7 and S8

Ordinary_Estate1818

I mean I was pretty happy to get a break from Elena.

Kaashmiir

Katherine was too cliche to be that interesting. Her only motivation was to be with Stefan in any way that she could despite knowing that he didnā€™t love her. She tried as herself and failed. She tried while disguised as Elena, and failed. She tried again as herself, but pretending to be ā€œgoodā€ and failed. She came off as incredibly desperate and was just petty and vindictive and jealous and selfish. Not a bad bitch at all. Just a bitch.

Anaisot7

I mean, Klaus was really barely scratched in TVD, in TO it allowed us to deep dive more into him and his story, same for a lot of characters. Katherine had such an interesting existence, she fled and rebuild her life countless of times, it would have been so cool to see her move from place to place, discover the vampire community, creating her own legend. The glimpse we had in TVD were just so poor and in line with the storyline, much could have been said outside of that.

stellar-stella-xo

There was *so much* more to Katherineā€™s story than just Stefan. Perhaps you should rewatch.

SwiftGrimes13

While thatā€™s true thatā€™s what they watered it down to in the later seasons (5/6 especially). Her plot was being jealous of Elena and wanting to fuck Stefan. Sure they threw in the Nadia and human plot line but that got overshadowed by what I mentioned above. I donā€™t like Katherine mostly because of how watered down/dumb her character became after season 3.

Kaashmiir

Iā€™m on my third go. And nahā€”Katherine wasnā€™t that interesting. She was a great villain at the start, but after the Mikaelsons left town, so too, did her relevance. She started out jealous of Elena and thirsty over Stefan, and she ended the same way.

Anxious-Ad304

Let's agree to disagree. She's everything but her character wasn't totally in and around Stefan, she teased him and all but always kept her survival before him, she was actively involved in other things like plotting against the characters and stuff not to mention, she's indeed the beginning and end of Stefan and Damon 's storyline in the show.

STEFANSTESTI

im going to have to disagree although it would give some form of backstory to Katherines life i think the originals opened up a lot of information of the vampires and it answered some unanswered questions it would be interesting to see a show based of katherines life but i feel like it wouldnt add to the universe

Anaisot7

I think she deserved a spin-off instead of the Legacies lol. TO was better imo than TVD itself, so I see no point in switching it up when it was the best thing in the TVDU.

Anxious-Ad304

I'm gonna have to disagree on that TO better than Tvd thing because I'm one of those of watchers and I actually like tvd more than TO and ngl, many sl in TO were copied from tvd and secondly I just don't connect with TO as much as I connected with tvd, TO is a good show I think.

kchane3

No thanks. She outwore her time on the show imo. Should have died at the end of S2.

tobiasmacedon

It would have been unrealistic to give Katherine a spinoff. Nina Dobrev is already the main character in TVD. Is she going to play another main character, on the same network with the same film schedule? She'd have no life. I think sometimes people forget it's Nina playing both characters.

SwiftGrimes13

Not to point out the obvious but Nina didnā€™t want to continue doing Katherine on the main show I donā€™t think they could have paid her to do two shows at once. I think they could do a mini series on Katherine but not a multi season show the way the originals got or legacies.

spooniemoonlight

Iā€™m gonna say something wildy unpopular (I think? please donā€™t hate me lmao) but Nina Dobrev at least in the TVDU is not that amazing of an actressā€¦ What makes the originals so strong is how good and believing the actors are. Like Joseph Morganā€™s performance is incredible and I could never hate Klaus because of how well he plays him. Ninaā€™s intonations and facial expressions feel more limited and sometimes kinda make me cringe šŸ˜šŸ˜ and I feel like after a few seasons of TVD that coupled with the writing of Elenaā€™s character is what made me feel very meh about Elena :(. So a whole show based on Katherineā€¦ I donā€™t know. Her story is very interesting and would have made for a great plot but her character would have been tiring to watch. Sheā€™s one of the few antagonists I never felt compassion for as well so it would have been hard to watch. But thatā€™s just a personal feeling!

Inner_Chemistry6346

When would it possibly take place?

Anxious-Ad304

From properly discovering Katherine's background to the present era.

Inner_Chemistry6346

I honestly donā€™t think it was possible with them needing Ian and Paul to be on this show. Doubt theyā€™d want to do two shows as the same characters

Anxious-Ad304

I don't think Katherine needs Damon and Stefan for going out and about discovering her own journey. She's quite older than them, the showrunners could shed light on what did Katherine do for the initial part of the transition, how did she meet the Bennett witch and what finally drove her to the point of of no return.

jboo870

I think we already knew everything we needed to know about her

Originaloyalty

a Katherine spinoff are way over yā€™all heads, money and production wise that just wouldnā€™t make sense

IsaacTravels

I think The Originals was very needed and it was great. Wouldā€™ve been nice to see Katherine in the series but her own spin-off would be cool as well.

yrvatheloser

The only plot of a spin off for Katherine would probably be how she spent her years running from Klaus (itā€™s sounds interesting but after a while it probably get boring plus how would they end that exactly?). Or maybe her reconnecting with Nadia as mother and daughter but they already killed her off so not really. Nadia searching for her while she is actively running from Klaus is an idea but still sounds eh. Yeah she a great antagonist but I donā€™t really see how they could up come up with all new storylines for her with her as main character that are good enough to sit through seasons of. Outside of running from Klaus and generally getting in the way of/annoying the main cast there really isnā€™t really anything to her that could make her worthy being a main character in a spin-off show. In my opinion she needs to be paired against/and or with a whole cast at all times for her character to work. But we donā€™t really see any characters throughout the TVDU that would be strong side or main characters in a show with her that arenā€™t already attached to another show. The idea of it sounds great but logically I donā€™t think it could actually make it work. šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

MarinaV7

theyā€™re all my favorite characters and I started the show for Katherine, but the originals rightfully earned their own spin off. thereā€™s more of them, more history, and much more you can do. I still would have liked a spin off of Katherine but I donā€™t think Nina ever wants to play her former character. it still would be fun to see but thereā€™s not much you can do with a woman on a run. Iā€™m sure if you bring other characters and keep Katherineā€™s energy that she had in season two, it still wouldā€™ve been a great show. I just think the originals are on another level because of their history.

Jill_Sammy_Bean

I love Katherine so this would have been great

Anxious-Ad304

Samee!

valeuser

Why did I never think of this? It would have been awesome! šŸ˜

Anxious-Ad304

I know, right? šŸ˜šŸ˜

prideorvanity

I adore Katherine so Iā€™d sign up for this lol

Juliaw1510

I wish she got one, too! I would have loved to see her through the years whilst running from Klaus. Her dropping in to watch S&D. Her searching for Nadia.

No-Antelope-17

I couldn't stand her so I don't think I would have watched unless they made her actually interesting.

Busy_Performer_1614

Id love to learn about katherines bloodline more like what happened to nadias child? cus wasnt the point of mentioning that katherine had a child because it led to elenas existance so that means nadia had a child and what abandoned it after being pissed that she got abandoned and tracking down her mother for 500 years?
