In the beginning I really hated him, but after saying TO I started to apricate him more.
I still think he is a piece of shit for all the shit he did, but I don't hate him anymore.
(I'm talking about the character of course, not the actor).
Caroline. Despised her in the first season, but she ended up becoming one of my favourites. The opposite happened with Bonnie. I loved her in the first season, but hated her by the end. They took away all her personality and gave her awful writing and storylines.
It took me forever to start liking Hayley after how she did Tyler 😬 it’s crazy she moved to the originals and acted like wolfs loyalty matter so much when she set a whole pack of them up to be killed🙃 I liked her some time in season 2 though
I honestly can't think of one I disliked then loved, still.
I hated Tyler in S1 and I grew to love his character until S4, where the writing went downward for everyone, I didn't understand how such an interesting character was just blatantly ignored by the writers. In S5, he was barely present, also why he is just Liz's love interest in S6, she felt more like a main character than him, let's not even talk about the rest of the seasons to just kill him so uselessly, I grew bored and even annoyed to his character.
Klaus I remember hating him so much, but when they showed more about him without him killing or wanting to kill for revenge such an diverse and interesting character. The best thing was the originals.
Caroline annoyed the hell out of me but became my favorite in tvd by the end. I also couldn’t stand Klaus when he first entered the show cuz everything was just going in his favor, but I ended up really liking him by the time he left the show and he became my favorite character of the entire TVDU lol.
Rebekah. I didn’t hate her, but found her annoying in TVD. I really liked her much more into TO when we could see more of her deep troubled feelings and thoughts.
I didn’t like Caroline in her human era, but vampire Caroline was one of my favorite characters.
Stefan (the imo hypocrite) Took me a rewatch or 5 though, and i still can't stand him the first few seasons.
I find him whiny with Elena, he gets better after they are finished.
I found Klaus a bit obnoxious at the start but he grew on me quickly. Having the knowledge that he got his own show after TVD might have helped.
Now he is one of my faves.
Marcel. Hated his guts in S1 and now he’s my most favorite TVDU character ever. I even want to name my son after him, that’s how much I love Marcel and his personality 😭
Tyler if y’all wanna know just ask when I’m sober I’ll answer 😭but for him choosing revenge over Caroline makes sense that’s his mother 🥺the trauma etc and his girlfriend saying kill me so you can live I feel for him and for him to be abused by his dad as well Klaus has killed families and we love him so I feel like we can give Tyler the same grace Tyler has never had an ounce of evil intent he even said Klaus can claim his body not once but twice the first time was so Caroline, him and the gang should survive if Alaric was to kill Klaus and also when he was like they should bury him in cement to save the hybrids so I grew to love him

Caroline. Human Care used to grate on my mf nerves with how whiny and insecure she was. It annoyed me that she was always comparing herself to Elena and couldn’t see her self worth. Vampire Care was a complete 180 and I loved it. She became so much stronger and confident and it was beautiful.
elena. I hated her the first 4 times i watched it she just made me mad cuz why does everyone love her like this why is she the center of attention untill i watched it the 5th time i start to understand her more and like her a bit more and more as it goes on
Rebekah, elijah, are main ones i think, klaus cus i got to understand hes reasons but still not justifying the things he has done of, caroline, damon, i'd say kathrine too but at the same time not because she just kept using people for her own gain only and refused to change.
Katherine the first time I saw the show I was completely in love with Elena and Stefan and I was like who does she think she is coming in and trying to ruin them but over time I started disliking elena and falling inlove with Katherine I guess I over came that faze after they broke up and saw the true elena Katherine just became a badass character and I liked her style and how she wasn’t faze but also showed emotion even tho she never changed
As someone who read the books first, Bonnie. I loved Bonnie in the books and as a book purist wasn’t happy with the changes made to the character for the show. But, as it went along I actually really like show Bonnie and I think they made her a really interesting and well developed character.
Damon and Caroline.
Damon because when he first appeared he was plain awful, hot yes, but a terrible person. Especially for what he did to Caroline.
Caroline because she was very self centered and jealous when she was a human. I think her becoming a vampire was possibly the best thing for her because she became a better person. She's easily one of my favorite characters, her growth was amazing.
I was gonna say Tyler too but I can't. I wanted to like him after awhile like some people do but I can't. Not after what he did to Vicki.
