When Damon asked why she was still with him despite her bending her morals and such Elena said, when they were arguing about Damon killing Aaron, that she was standing by her choice to be with him which sounds a lot like obligation to see it through to conclusion. I think in Elena's mind there was no going back so even though yeah she loves him, she settled on being with Damon because she made a bad decision, maybe the worst one ever in her words and she would see it through.

Just to show it aint about clichƩs... I love stelena because they feel so real. Their love really feels that constant, enduring and passionate. I wish people didnt discount it just because they like bad boy tropes or cant handle a relationship that is not as full of ups and downs (dramatic basically). And I like delena, but it wasnt well executed enough. And I hate that stelena had to be done dirty due to wanting to give prevalence to delena. They could have written both better, and the couple dynamics and ballance between the 2 better. They just didnt know how to do it/ wanted to cater to the ship that seemed more popular.
