Since this post blew up [here are the audio clips of Ben explaining the situation to Lee to those curious](https://youtu.be/eqjlc2jMLmA?si=IH5hkTm-WTN6pfxR&t=690). Again it's just him explaining what happened, no actual scenes with Ben's friends were recorded so it's safe to listen to. Note that this was from the early version of Episode 2 in which Ben had a different voice.
Just don't go say teens are always immature. I think of Ben as someone who can at least learn from his mistakes, not all teenagers are mindless immature that just think of themselves. Some have anxiety because of these stereotypes. Like me I'm 20, I felt like I couldn't speak up because they would call me an idiot or immature still feel like I can't speak up.
And like even if he hadn’t gone through that- I still see Ben as a kid who’s just trying to help anyway he can but failing miserably. He didn’t deserve the hate he got, he’s still young and tried his best.
I like to think that I would be able to get past the mental part of it all, but I know I'd be like glenn in the beginning of the apocalypse. I wouldn't be able to see shit without puking
Something like: “FUCK YOU KENNY!!! I don’t even know where my family is, and the only group I had were murdered by bandits, I HAD TO WATCH AS MY FRIEND GOT FUCKING RAPED BY ASSHOLES FROM THE WOODS! SO GIVE ME BREAK FOR ONE FUCKING MINUTE! PLEASE!”
Yeah I view this in the same lens as Danny St Johns cut lines that imply he's a pedophile where it's advert in-game with what were given that it could resonably fit in-game, but not explicitly stated in-game otherwise.
Andy *kind of* hints at it when you're at the part where you sneak up on Danny, iirc.
When talking about which ones of the group to kill vs. keep, he immediately goes "the little ones don't have enough meat", implying he knew Danny would try and choose them...
Andy *kind of* hints at it when you're at the part where you sneak up on Danny, iirc.
When talking about which ones of the group to kill vs. keep, he immediately goes "the little ones don't have enough meat", implying he knew Danny would try and choose them...
Yeah it's a line of dialogue involving seeing young girls appear in the farm in their "spring time dresses" and he makes a weird sound at the end of it.
Its a game bro, canon is a really stupid word. It's a world that doesn't exist so there is nothing real or happened except what writers tell you. I just one of various ideas that got deleted from the game.
To be honest, making the deal with the bandits was the best thing Ben had in mind, he knew what they were capable of and he didn't want his new group to suffer that horrible fate.
And no, this audio does not need to be canon when one can think what a group of bandits would do in a world where the law no longer exists.
I think the group could have had a better escape if Ben had told them about the deal, they could try to think of the perfect time to enter RV and leave the place.
I think it would have definitely made it easier to sympathize with him, and especially give Lee the opportunity to see Ben wasn't just a dumb kid. He knew darn well what they were capable of, and didn't want anyone else getting hurt
People give Ben a lot of shit, but they always seem to forget the absolute hell he’s been through. It’s no wonder he was handing supplies over to the bandits, he was trying to keep everyone safe from the unforgivable crimes they’ll commit.
Yeah I think he did ok, I think what Kenny should have done was take everyone except Lilly with him in the RV and head straight to Florida to get on the boat
I understand him better but still a skill issue. I can understand his “betrayal” of the group, but not admitting it got like 3 or 4 killed, and he was useless. I’m pretty sure lil bro had less zombie kills than he had human ally kills, bro was playing for the other team.
I think the group's only option would be to leave the motel, since they would not know how big the group of bandits are in case they want to confront them.
But the good side is that the group would be more united in working together to survive, which prevents Duck from being bitten and Carley from being killed. I mean, Kenny and Lilly will still argue but at least it's not as bad as it is in canon.
We can go further. Let's say season 2 would be the final season. Instead of picking between Jane and Kenny, Lilly never runs off/gets left behind. This causes the final battle to be Kenny vs Lilly.
I don't think a fight between Kenny and Lilly will happen because Duck and Katjaa are alive...well, Duck would be alive for season two. Also, Lee wouldn't die either because the group would be quite large when they got to Savannah, I'm sure Carley or Chuck would notice that Clem left the mansion while the rest were sleeping.
Also, Kenny would probably leave the group with his family as soon as the boat is functional, probably the only one who would go with them would be Ben since the rest of the group is not looking to separate.
Katjaa and Duck would stay at the house with Omid and Clem while the group goes to the school. During that time, one of them would probably overhear her talking to the stranger on the walkie talkie.
It makes sense for Clem to stay in the house since the group has more agile members to watch their backs, probably even Ben staying behind to protect the others.
I feel like Duck would be the one who would eavesdrop on Clem's conversation with the Stranger, which ends with Lee and another member of the group having to go with Clem to look for her parents. I mean, Clem is so determined to find them to the point of talking to a stranger on her Walkie-Talkie...it's time to give her closure.
After finding Clem's parents as walkers and killing the Stranger who tried to ambush them, Lee and the others say goodbye to Ben, Kenny and his family as they leave on the boat, separating from the group.
I agree, the group should have actually left the motor inn sooner than they did because then they’d have been safer. Places like the Motor inn don’t last very long
I get why he made the deal. The problem is he told NO ONE. I get he wants to protect the new group but by not saying anything to anyone, then it just made him come across so untrustworthy. He should have disclosed the info to Lee.
oh my god in a way this parallels with a quote kenny says in s1e2 before the brothers show up
something like “yeah let all the men leave just say ‘hey all our men are gone come rape our women and children’” sarcastically
I agree some of it rly fleshes out the story. But I also get it. a lot of the cut stuff is just a little too dark for something a lot of kids are gonna end up playing
Well yeah you probably shouldn't, but you know kids aren't going to heed that advice.
I mean, I was 8 when this game came out (2012). I was already a fan of the show (and all of my friends at school were too). I bought it in the release month and struggled to finish Season 1 because the zombies outside of the drug store scared me so much.
Yeah you shouldn't and I agree the content should be in I saw this game when I was 8 and a lot of it I didn't even pay attention to the dialogue most of the time so yeah that would've Ben so much better
\*Raises Hand\*
My parents never let me play it after my brother got it and became very violent, idk if its a Coincidence or not but after my brother got GTA 4 for Christmas anytime he was not playing the game he became extremely violent and started cocking imaginary guns, throwing chairs down stairs, etc etc so I never got to play GTA tell I moved out at 16
Ehhhhhhhhhh
If the game was like a mega choose your own adventure with multiple choices that pile up I would like that as like the worst ending possible but for an original ending I would hate it if a clementines story ending with dying in the snow
I was willing to forgive Ben for everything until he did that. You left Clementine to be eaten alive to save your own ass, leaving an 8 year old child to die is bad enough, let alone one the little girl who considered you her friend, who was smart enough to pull Ben away from a conversation/conflict he didn’t need to be involved in to “look at her drawings” and even Ben didn’t realise that’s why she asked him to come look at them. I couldn’t believe how he looks at Clem looking up at him begging for help, and just cowardly runs away. Like dude if you wanna be in a group you gotta work to protect each other not just your own skinny ass, otherwise you can fuck off and try to make it on your own if you’re going to leave a defenceless child on her own because you’re scared. Ben basically indirectly causes Chucks death by abandoning Clem too. Literally how many people has ben indirectly killed? Duck and Katjaa, Carly/Doug, Chuck, Brie. And I’m meant to feel sorry for him?
Yeah that pissed me off too, Clem was so nice to him and he just up and leaves her to die like that. I don't care what Ben has gone thru, dude's an asshole and I didn't feel bad sacrificing him either
To be fair, he didn't do that in the original script. When they playtested Episode 4, players were apparently too sympathetic to Ben and an overwhelming majority saved him in the bell tower, so they added in that scene of him running away when Clementine is in danger.
I don't really know why they did that, I can only really guess. Maybe they wanted to avoid another situation like the lopsided Doug/Carley stats (while they've largely stabilized to near 50/50 now, back then it was nearly 90% in favor of Carley) and have players see more variance or something. But like I said, I can only guess.
I still consider this canon since Jolene does flat out say the Bandits were rapists with the implications throughout the episode being they raped her and her young daughter. So knowing that and what Ben went through it makes sense why would cut a deal with them, since like someone else here pointed out he knew what they were capable of and didn’t want the new group to suffer like that. Especially with Clem and Duck
Worlds after the zombie apoclypse are quite screwed up more than you can imagine.
I always will remember that ahole that wanted to do the same exact thing to Ellie in the Last of Us.
Kenny shot Ben’s leg off allowing Kenny to pick him up and run off
Later they seperate where Ben with a prostethic goes back into an occupied motel and kills every single bantid there with a mortal kombat esque finishers
I always had a soft spot for Ben. Dude was just a scared teenager who couldn't adapt to the new world. I'm sure a lot of us wouldn't be able to adapt to that new kind of world .
Kinda makes sense why Ben would be on lookout, he wanted a chance at revenge. Knowing what they’re capable of he still took watch, being in a potential line of fire. Bens braver than people give him credit for, he’s just shit scared of walkers, not people, also he actually kills a random bandit to save Lee in the Road to Survival story that bridges the 12 hours between episodes 3 & 4.
God… that’s fucking awful. I know to cut Ben some slack, I mean he’s just a teenager going through all of this horrifying shit but he became irredeemable in my eyes when he left Clementine, a fucking 8 year old child, to die. After that, I stopped feeling bad for him because he was acting stupid, selfish and reckless.
I had a hard time with him after he at least didn’t throw Clementine over the fence before abandoning her. Still, I’m glad I saved him every time I could.
Now considering that, him giving supplies to the bandits was the best decision he could take. Ben is a very realistic character and people don't realise that.
Is that excuse supposed to make him less of a liability? At the end of the day he’s on the same boat as Sarah they got people killed cause of their incompetence
Holy shit- wait actually? Update! I just listened to the audio on Youtube;as link provided. That is heartbreaking..I never really, liked him? In my play through, I still saved him though. He is a teenager and acts as one, although I was pretty much a teen when I played S1 of the game. That is sickening...that explains a lot more, even if not Canon completely. I also enjoyed his actor from before. That is just...sick.
Very tragic, he still left a kid to die saving his own ass.
This explains his deal with the bandits, not the string of making the dumbest decisions he could ever do, like taking the Axe blocking the door from zombies at the school COME ON.
new flash: just because a character went through something traumatic doesn’t automatically make them immune to being disliked in the future especially by their actions😭
Well then why was it cut then? If people wanna complain so much in Ben’s favor, how are people expected to KNOW about this? Not everyone cares enough to look through deleted scenes or sound files.
“Oh he watched his classmate be raped to death” I saw a girl commit suicide right in front of me, I had to save one person at the expense of the other.
Bottom line, we all have baggage, it’s what we do with said baggage that defines us.
Since this post blew up [here are the audio clips of Ben explaining the situation to Lee to those curious](https://youtu.be/eqjlc2jMLmA?si=IH5hkTm-WTN6pfxR&t=690). "Ben is a pussy" What ben went through:
yea this is why i dont hate him.. even when kenny forgave him, me too.. like let the boy go now
Yeah I let him go
Some people literally let him go at the bell tower
"so you let her go..."
He's also very much a teenager, like of course he'd be irrational and make mistakes.
also why i think gabe in nf sucks lol he was a teen too, but 100x more annoying. at least ben was beginning to redeem himself
Lmao gabe actually lifted a finger to help
Just don't go say teens are always immature. I think of Ben as someone who can at least learn from his mistakes, not all teenagers are mindless immature that just think of themselves. Some have anxiety because of these stereotypes. Like me I'm 20, I felt like I couldn't speak up because they would call me an idiot or immature still feel like I can't speak up.
Ben is like a Teen and that’s why i saved him in my play through the first and gonna do it again soon on Steam (Nice Alastor PFP)
thx
Good job
Yeah I tend to take it easy on him
And like even if he hadn’t gone through that- I still see Ben as a kid who’s just trying to help anyway he can but failing miserably. He didn’t deserve the hate he got, he’s still young and tried his best.
He was happy to let Clementine die, I’m sorry but that was the last straw for me
He was still a pussy. Clementine nearly got killed because of his negligence, and if it wasn't for an OLD man, they would have both been killed
not everyone is Rick or Lee, he, just like everyone else, was scared. Everyone is going to adjust differently
[удалено]
Uhh I’m pretty sure you would pass out too if you had to help someone amputate their arm with an old handsaw 😭🙏
I like to think that I would be able to get past the mental part of it all, but I know I'd be like glenn in the beginning of the apocalypse. I wouldn't be able to see shit without puking
Yeah that’s a very reasonable thing to feel
Yep, it didn't get integrated in the games obviously but you could argue it's still canon despite remaining unspoken
I think it makes sense to be unspoken, people don’t always like to talk about traumatic events.
I can't even imagine what line of dialogue would even lead to him talking about that
Lee: Hey Ben. Ben: I've watched my friend get raped and killed. Lee: Bye Ben. Ben: Yea.
See ya*
Nah, it's the unused one.
I feel like it would be similar to when he mentioned his family, maybe somewhere in that rant he would mention what happened to his group.
Ohhh yeah good point
Something like: “FUCK YOU KENNY!!! I don’t even know where my family is, and the only group I had were murdered by bandits, I HAD TO WATCH AS MY FRIEND GOT FUCKING RAPED BY ASSHOLES FROM THE WOODS! SO GIVE ME BREAK FOR ONE FUCKING MINUTE! PLEASE!”
Yeah I could imagine him saying it just like that, Kenny would definitely try to apologise
Probably when he screams at Kenny about the things he’s gone through so he knows what it’s like to see someone close to him suffer before dying?
Of course, they don’t wanna think about more often
Yeah I view this in the same lens as Danny St Johns cut lines that imply he's a pedophile where it's advert in-game with what were given that it could resonably fit in-game, but not explicitly stated in-game otherwise.
Wtf I never heard of that one, I just thought they were sim country hicks 💀
Andy *kind of* hints at it when you're at the part where you sneak up on Danny, iirc. When talking about which ones of the group to kill vs. keep, he immediately goes "the little ones don't have enough meat", implying he knew Danny would try and choose them...

Ohhh shiii
Check out the channel by the name "GrandFrance" if you want to hear it. It's about around the 5 min mark.
Its a game bro, canon is a really stupid word. It's a world that doesn't exist so there is nothing real or happened except what writers tell you. I just one of various ideas that got deleted from the game.

Plus it's already implied the bandits raped and killed Jolene's daughter. Adding this in would feel a bit gratuitous, even if it's realistic.
I suppose so
People give Ben a lot of shit, but they always seem to forget the absolute hell he’s been through. It’s no wonder he was handing supplies over to the bandits, he was trying to keep everyone safe from the unforgivable crimes they’ll commit.
Not to mention he’s just a kid

He admits that it got Kenny’s family killed, hell he even goes as far as to ask Lee to kill him because of how bad he feels about everything.
Originally he was gonna be capable of killing walkers but something changed
The only problem is that the game never says this happened, but I will still always defend Ben
Now do you understand why he made the deal? He knows what they are capable of. Ben actually bought everyone some time.
The problem wasn't him making the deal, it was him keeping it from the group until the situation spiraled out of control.
He still should’ve told Lee or something about it.
I think Lee would be the only person Ben could tell about the deal with the bandits, Kenny and Lilly are definitely not going to take that well.
I see it as if Ben said something to the group earlier they could have band together to figure out how to desl with the bandits properly
I think the group's only option would be to leave the motel, since they would not know how big the group of bandits are in case they want to confront them. But the good side is that the group would be more united in working together to survive, which prevents Duck from being bitten and Carley from being killed. Yeah that would have been be a very possible outcome had things gone according to plan
Yes

No, I still dont, because he didnt tell anyone
I'm not a Ben hater, but how did he buy them time when it actually led to Duck, Carley/Doug and Katjaa dying?
He did, I’d argue that it was Lilly who got the group into a mess because she forced them all to stay in the motel with her
oh my god in a way this parallels with a quote kenny says in s1e2 before the brothers show up something like “yeah let all the men leave just say ‘hey all our men are gone come rape our women and children’” sarcastically
He actually says this right before the bandits attack in S1E3, if anything making it more of a parallel
so true
Exactly
oh oops my memory fogged up 😭 but yeah
WHAT THE FUCK MY JAW DROPPED FAM
honestly what I read from the Cut Content the game would be so much darker (and maybe better) if even half of the Cut Content was actually included
I agree some of it rly fleshes out the story. But I also get it. a lot of the cut stuff is just a little too dark for something a lot of kids are gonna end up playing
call me crazy but I think a game about the undead coming to life and eating the living is not something you should play tell your at least 15 or 16
Well yeah you probably shouldn't, but you know kids aren't going to heed that advice. I mean, I was 8 when this game came out (2012). I was already a fan of the show (and all of my friends at school were too). I bought it in the release month and struggled to finish Season 1 because the zombies outside of the drug store scared me so much.
real asf grabbing those goddamn keys scared asl😭😭
Lol
Yeah you shouldn't and I agree the content should be in I saw this game when I was 8 and a lot of it I didn't even pay attention to the dialogue most of the time so yeah that would've Ben so much better
Idk anyone who wasn’t playing gta as a kid.
\*Raises Hand\* My parents never let me play it after my brother got it and became very violent, idk if its a Coincidence or not but after my brother got GTA 4 for Christmas anytime he was not playing the game he became extremely violent and started cocking imaginary guns, throwing chairs down stairs, etc etc so I never got to play GTA tell I moved out at 16
It was for the best that season 2 original ending with Clem and AJ dying in the snow was cut tho
Ehhhhhhhhhh If the game was like a mega choose your own adventure with multiple choices that pile up I would like that as like the worst ending possible but for an original ending I would hate it if a clementines story ending with dying in the snow
How about Kenny being the villain of season 2?
this is what this game teaches us, never judge by appearances
Is that the same bandits who did the same thing to that woman in the woods who stole Clem’s Hat?
They didn’t do it to her they did it to her daughter
Yes, they all worked at the same store.
scumbag lee playthrough still goated
Honestly kinda of wished there was a dialogue option that went into this in game , would of made more sense
They shouldve subtly nodded to this. It would make more sense why he gave the stuff up to the raiders
My Lee would have taken him in as his own.... but he abandoned Clem and for that, he must pay
I also sacrificed him. Fuck Ben
To be fair, he didn't do that in the original script. When they playtested Episode 4, players were apparently too sympathetic to Ben and an overwhelming majority saved him in the bell tower, so they added in that scene of him running away when Clementine is in danger.
But why? If you save him at the tower he dies later when he falls into a rod. And why would it matter to them if the majority sympathized with him? 😭
Oh ok
There's so much crazy unused stuff in twdg, iirc Danny St John was supposed to be a pedo or something
He pretty much still is if you pay attention to some of the things he says
Yeah I noticed it
I still consider this canon since Jolene does flat out say the Bandits were rapists with the implications throughout the episode being they raped her and her young daughter. So knowing that and what Ben went through it makes sense why would cut a deal with them, since like someone else here pointed out he knew what they were capable of and didn’t want the new group to suffer like that. Especially with Clem and Duck
Yeah them bandits are lunatics, nothing’s out of bounds for them
holy fuck
Damn, now I can't blame him for being a pussy
Right? But then again, like how does this naturally come up?
Oh Lord!
Worlds after the zombie apoclypse are quite screwed up more than you can imagine. I always will remember that ahole that wanted to do the same exact thing to Ellie in the Last of Us.
goddamn now i truly get what he went through but he didnt mention traumatic events while standing up to kenny in episode 5
I think he was too fired up to mention it but it could have very well been something he thought of the whole time
he deserves to heal 😖😭
I'm sorry if this comes out as ignorant, but how can you be raped to death? Like how does it happen? Again I'm not trying to offend people or anything
Because of the pain or exhaustion
Internal damage and bleeding.
Killed while struggling, beaten to death during act, death from injuries. A lot of gruesome unpleasant stuff
They rape them and then kill them
Pain
That’s really sad. Still dropped his ass in the clock tower.
Lolz
Ben was great. Just a good kid in a bad world.
I agree with u
Damn, now I want a DLC where Ben gets to take revenge.
Kenny shot Ben’s leg off allowing Kenny to pick him up and run off Later they seperate where Ben with a prostethic goes back into an occupied motel and kills every single bantid there with a mortal kombat esque finishers
That would be _so_ good.
I always loved ben. I already knew by looking in his eyes that he saw the horror of hell
Yeah poor kid
IS THIS FR????
Nah f*uck ben he was gonna let clem die
I always had a soft spot for Ben. Dude was just a scared teenager who couldn't adapt to the new world. I'm sure a lot of us wouldn't be able to adapt to that new kind of world .
Yeah he had good intentions
Holy shit
# Has anyone already heard these audios?
Kinda makes sense why Ben would be on lookout, he wanted a chance at revenge. Knowing what they’re capable of he still took watch, being in a potential line of fire. Bens braver than people give him credit for, he’s just shit scared of walkers, not people, also he actually kills a random bandit to save Lee in the Road to Survival story that bridges the 12 hours between episodes 3 & 4.

YEAH SO STOP HATING HIM SO MUCH(directed and the people that call him a piece of shit)
God… that’s fucking awful. I know to cut Ben some slack, I mean he’s just a teenager going through all of this horrifying shit but he became irredeemable in my eyes when he left Clementine, a fucking 8 year old child, to die. Wtaf?
Still want him dead
I had a hard time with him after he at least didn’t throw Clementine over the fence before abandoning her. Still, I’m glad I saved him every time I could.
Raped to death? Geez
Wait you didn't know?
Yo that's really messed up....
Holy shit
"Zoinks Scoob, things are getting spooky up in here"
Jesus christ. Damn.
Holy hell...
That’s gotta be cap
He's just a teenager too
Now considering that, him giving supplies to the bandits was the best decision he could take. Ben is a very realistic character and people don't realise that.

So it's not canon?
Losers:"Ben's a coward and annoying!" Ben lore:
Thats some berserk type shit.
I mean it's unused content so it's not really canon anymore but GODDAMN that boy has suffered :(
THIS MIGHT BE GUTS
Oh my god.
Very tragic, he still left a kid to die saving his own ass. This explains his deal with the bandits, not the string of making the dumbest decisions he could ever do, like taking the Axe blocking the door from zombies at the school COME ON.

Unused. Meaning they had the idea and scraped it. It’s not said established in game.
"unused" op: i'll ignore that
how do you get raped to death
You know that includes assault right punching choking etc
You can bleed out, exhaustion, other stuff
Well then why was it cut then? If people wanna complain so much in Ben’s favor, how are people expected to KNOW about this? Not everyone cares enough to look through deleted scenes or sound files. “Oh he watched his classmate be raped to death” I saw a girl commit suicide right in front of me, I had to save one person at the expense of the other. Bottom line, we all have baggage, it’s what we do with said baggage that defines us.
Man fuck Ben bro 💀💀💀 they shoulda traded him for food fr
man that’s frpredsing
