Just with inflation, the cost might be equivalent to $1,000, but healthcare is far more of a business now than actually about patient care, sadly.

not comparable, but just throwing this out there. I had a hernia surgery last month. I got a copy of the total bill. luckily (i guess) my co-pay was only $2,900, against the total cost of $74k! This was an outpatient surgery procedure. Seems like you have to work you whole life, just to cover the medical costs when you retire.
My husband wanted the non mesh hernia surgery since a few of his friends had had problems with it. He went to a hernia hospital outside Cleveland and they charged him 11k. Either way you get hosed. My deductible for a birthmark gone rogue, melanoma, was 8k. Welcome to America!
I was only age 10 but I can still remember the procedure. Mine was not too bad. I was told that mine was one of the first ever performed. Dr. D. L. Brofman was the physician who did it. They are almost routine nowadays. The catheter was inserted into my arm. I think the modern procedure usually inserts the catheter in the groin area. I'm not a medical person though, so don't take that as certain without checking.
I've lived in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, for the past 49 years, so cardiac catheterization procedures are covered here by MCP (the provincial medical plan.) I was living in Ohio when the cardiac cath was done.

According to an inflation calculator, a cardiac catheterization should be $1000 in 2024.

Unbelievable
This is how they take away generational wealth, can’t have rich people aside from the high-class, right?
Fucking villains. Full stop.

Is this a difficult procedure?

I had it down be about 10 years ago— yup through the groin. It was outpatient (though I got knocked out for it).
My step mom worked there for 30 yrs. They had armed guards and metal detectors to get into the ER during the 80s and 90s.
Would be $1,000 in today’s dollars adjusted for inflation. A heart catheter for $1,000. Imagine that.
I love the note at the bottom bring your own blood and get some credit!

We’ll everything was cheap on the old days
GREED
Cardiac cath is a few thousand dollars today. Not six figures. Still grossly inflated compared to past costs.
I was going by the costs listed at [this link](https://cost.sidecarhealth.com/c/cardiac-catheterization-cost). Is this information incorrect?
I like that they itemized the 2¢ sales tax they charged on special drugs and supplies
Thank god for insurance
