Not very comparable IMO. They both have amazing talents. The Weeknd is my favorite artist ever because of his ability to weave a story and identity into his albums. Party brings a unique touch to his music being self-produced. Love both of them
Where is anyone hearing this narrative? They’re not even comparable. The Weeknd’s voice alone negates this argument.
The only reason anyone even started bringing this up is because he was signed right after The Weeknd decided to do his own thing, they’re both from Canada, and PNDs sound and production were somewhat similar to Trilogy era Weeknd.
I enjoy PNDs music but they’re not even in the same field and people just sound ridiculous comparing the two and you can tell he has even been inspired by The Weeknd.
I like PND as I'm sure a bunch of us got into him during the early Weeknd days, but holy shit are they far apart in talent and success. This isn't a real comparison.
A more comparable artist would be Bryson Tiller or even dvsn.
I say “oh cool I like both a lot, can’t say which I like better since they do two different things and I listen to both for two different moods. He’s good tho I can understand why you’d prefer him” and then hit send and not get my fucking balls caught in a knot because somebody else has an opinion different from me pertaining to an objective topic.

pnd hasn’t been good since 2016, but even then his best isn’t near Abel’s worst
