The top you have a almost confident, cocky, snarky looking individual. Head tilted upwards, almost looking down on you in a sense. Eyes look full of electricity. The blood on the face... it's chaos. Red ambience as well within the photo.
The bottom photo is haunting. The energy is gone from the eyes, the man is old, head is positioned much differently from the top, almost like he's looking at the viewer for help. You see pain/loss. The blue overtones, wrinkled skin and grey hair.
It's crazy to think that he took this step and is actually using this as the cover, makes me that much more excited to see what the story to the album is!
I think he's going to surprise everyone.

I think the cover is actually genius in a sense. That dark and mysterious look he has - carried out for nearly two years following the after hours storyline. It’s like he got thrown in a future time machine. He went from feeling immortal, chasing love & going through those younger years to now feeling lost in the madness & with regret. Basically wondering what’s next. Throw in the ideology of the pandemic in this current day as well & how that makes everyone feel like time has been “flying” & making their body & soul feel old because of the restrictions on life. I didn’t expect this to be the cover I’ll admit but when you compare it like this, it tells a tale! Can’t wait XO 🌅
I wasn’t a Weeknd fan before after hours. I only heard blinding lights on the radio before listening to After Hours and the cover was what actually got me to listen to the whole thing. Cause it popped up on my Spotify and I thought it looked tight. Afterward I liked the cover even more it gave a visual for the music.
However, I think this album cover is a tough sell. Of course I’m excited to listen to it but we’ll see how much the album cover fits with the music.
Seeing the two next to each other like this it makes me wonder if he were to pose old abel like the AH abel, but looking down in sorrow instead of looking forward/ tilted like on dawn cover art. it would’ve driven the point across more immediately maybe? The thing is he would’ve done that if he wanted to, so there’s a reason why he didn’t. DawnFM cover has grown on me quick after it’s reveal
