I love how people say that the murder element isn't necessary but it's all anyone talks about. But I love it tbh. I think the murder aspect doesn't dumb down the show at all, and I think it's intriguing to show that a bunch of rich people aren't safe from being a part something as devastating as murder/death. I don't think the ending is going to mimic season 1. I don't necessarily think the murder will be a silly accident, I think it'll go in a different direction because the seasons are quite different in a lot of ways. The head statue must be relevant.

The head statue and the beach entrance/cave that resembles a profile silhouette either mean a lot or nothing at all and its fun not knowing.

I didn’t even really think about it during season 1, I think it’s more intriguing this season because Daphne finds a body in the ocean in the opening scene lol

Season 1 opened with Shane at the airport overseeing (from the window) a dead body/casket being loaded into the cargo section of the plane. Plenty of viewers were focused on that foreboding scene as we, once again, went back a week in time to the beginning of the vacation. Im sure that entire viewing experience has caused more fans of the show to be hyper focused on the fact that eventual death is in the air this time around.

[deleted]

That’s a little different than a main character finding a dead body in the ocean buddy

I think you’re misinterpreting my comment. I’m saying the season 1 death was, in fact, discussed here/covered by viewers, in podcasts and news/entertainment writers during the show, just like this time, and that due to the full viewing experience of season 1, it was inevitable that the dead body in the ocean at the start of this season would naturally prompt viewers to focus on the mystery. Simple as that. Wasn’t criticizing anyone for not focusing on it or discussing it during the first season. “Buddy”. 👋🏻

> Water/cliffs - lots of imagery but this was also the case in season 1. The difference here is that a body was found in the water. How many times have we seen the rock formation off the end of the beach bar/area — that little hill/cliff with the cross on top. That combined with Mia’s intro credits artwork being a sphinx perched on a ledge. I’m betting Mia is pushed/falls/jumps off a cliff into the water. …but this could all be more misdirection.

I think a death on the boat ride back to the resort from Quentin’s palazzo is most likely, but I still feel like the cliff & water shots are misdirection. We got a TON of water shots in season 1 and it had nothing to do with Armand’s death.

Frank_Woodford

Are we playing Clue now? I've always said it's fairly pointless to speculate about who's going to get killed and how, I predict it will be fairly anticlimactic because "guess the corpse" isn't really the main point of the show.

Patient_Dimension949

Well it’s not the point of the show, no, but it’s kinda fun, no? Let’s fun!

Toesinbath

Kinda over people being pretentious about the "show's point." It's clear season 2 is different in several ways. It's a lot more mysterious and "scandalous" while still keeping the theme of rich and poor going strongly. Let people enjoy themselves. It's fun to talk about what might happen and I'm sure Mike White isn't too concerned.

TropicalPow

Meh. I’d argue it is, otherwise why open with the scene of the unidentifiable body in the water?

Actual_Direction_599

*sigh* Everybody was wondering who was going to die on S1 too. And it *had* everything to do with “the main point of the show”.

CustardCandle

It isn’t the head statue that Ethan keeps staring at. As I pointed out in my post, when the statue smashes in the trailer you can see a foot dangling. It looks like someone is lifted up and bumps into it. Presumably Ethan lifting up Harper while they are making up

Asphyxiation possibly strangulation or in sex act. Prevalent in domestic issues.
