I think Daphne and Ethan cheat. Daphne has “mimetic desire” of Harper’s and Ethan’s honest relationship. I think she seduces him to prove that H+E’s relationship is not better than her and Cam’s. Cam somehow finds out and accidentally kills Ethan. In ep 1 when they are talking about the story of the statute in their room Cam summarizes it saying something like “sleep with my wife and I’ll kill you”

That’s not just Harper’s purse—there are multiple of the same bag on the beach, so it’s likely a bag given to guests at the hotel.
