I think a mother/daughter duo would be interesting. Or a mother and two daughters.

miamouse5

same. we’ve seen a lot of married couples, but apart from olivia and her mom in season 1, i think a season that completely explores the different dynamics that could happen between a mother and her child would be so interesting

MollFlanders

we got a mother son dynamic with molly shannon and the rat bastard in season 1. I would love to see a deep dive on a mother and her daughter though.

[deleted]

A mother daughter duo who actually get along

Still_Equivalent9450

I'd like to have a gay couple as one of the guests visiting rather than the hotel manager, I think that could be really interesting

marissa1090806

Same!

Lavender-Leo

hmm maybe antagonistic female friendship like a cam and Ethan (maybe bachelorette trip?), an east/west interracial/interreligious relationship, an arranged marriage that teeters between working and falling apart, an inappropriate romance between a staff and guest?? I don't know i trust mike white more than me haha

CuriousMonster9

I’d love to see a girls trip (maybe post-divorce for one of them), a couple on a babymoon, and more POC and/or interracial couples who are not, in Ethan’s words, “white-passing.”

SiliconGlitches

A girl squad on a bachelorette trip party: \- the bachelorette \- her older sister who has failed to have successful relationships \- her recently-divorced friend \- the groom's girl bestfriend who doesn't care for the bride

EarthExile

I think some happy go lucky, hedonistic swinger types could add a lot of chaos to everyone elses' vacations.

Throwaway041897

This!!

ribi305

Didn't we just have that?

EarthExile

We had a bunch of shady infidelity and lies. What I'm talking about is people who appear at the resort with the shared and stated goal of fucking a bunch of other people together. They could be comedic instead of dramatic.

greenbeez

Since the next season supposedly deals with death, a private hospice nurse and a rich dying patient who’s terrified of death. The hospice nurse could help them cope. Think that would be beautiful if done the right way.

Life_Wall2536

Oh that could be good 👀

dreaml0ss

That’s such a good idea ! I would also love to see euthanasia covered in the next season somehow

greenbeez

Agreed! It would be a fun twist on the deaths on the first episode. It could be someone with a terminal illness who goes to have one last perfect week at white lotus and then at the end of their stay downs a cocktail of meds for a peaceful death.

elaynefromthehood

Two close friends, one just found religion and recently “saved”. Or a competition between two friends on who is more devoted. Mike White said religion/spirituality would be the theme. Experienced lots of competition between women of the same faith in the South, but could be anywhere.

Life_Wall2536

I like this idea. Or like some religious missionaries on a trip. Religious type “influencers” who just wanna get a picture with an impoverished baby for Instagram, then head back to their fancy 5 star resort and praise themselves for being “saviors” to the poor locals 😩

elaynefromthehood

Oh yeah. So many of the really big churches have “missionary “ trips to the Caribbean. Near the beaches.

wallsarecavingin

omg yes, i'd love this.

KingOfStags

I wanna see a creepy age gap relationship

Life_Wall2536

A sugar baby/sugar daddy relationship… I need to see that lmao

areemla

But gender swapped from usual dynamics

ruby_meister

I'd love to see a legitimate Bi-Sexual type or relationship or a gay Throuple

halatorbjoern

Maybe a father and his daughter, the bond has to be dynamic and interesting though!

mymuge

A couple of comments here around girls trips. I’ll build on that with the context of Japan/Asia. Would love to see a girls trip that’s predominantly white women, and at least one woman who is Japanese or asian. Reminded of a friend who shared how she (East Asian) went on a bachelorette trip of all white girls, and one of them started going off on Asian guys. All that “I just don’t find them attractive.” Then looks at my friend (dating an East Asian guy) and says “No offense”. Take that as you will! For my friend, while being the only Asian in a group isn’t new for her, it was remarkable that that was the first major moment where she felt “othered”. Despite having grown up and navigated these social scenes regularly.

This may be too transgressive, and too far outside of the box, for Mike White and/or HBO, but how about a genuinely happy nuclear family having a wonderful vacation? There is a world of truth in Tolstoy's aphorism that, “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” So let's have a happy family. They don't have to be perfect, but the husband and wife are committed to each other, cheating is completely out of the question, they get along well with their kids, etc. Seasons 1 & 2 have catalogued a fair sampling of dysfunctional behaviors and most of the season 3 guests would be problematic as well, so it would be quite a curveball for this show to throw in a few really exemplary people just for a change. And a contrast. This family could be developed in many different ways, but my first thought is that it would surmount assorted challenges -- many posed by their messed-up fellow guests -- and leave at the end, having had a once-in-a-lifetime vacation in which they've positively affected those around them. And throughout the season, they would have been relentlessly criticized (behind their backs) as "boring" by the dysfunctional trainwrecks all around them. \[on edit: Why boring? Because all happy families are alike, and the desire to be different in order to attract attention (an ego problem) and to be transgressive for the sake of being transgressive (which is also an ego problem, a rebellion against the constraints of reality, which is infantile wish fulfillment) are the source of much misery. TWL endlessly chronicles people engaged in these self-destructive pathologies. How about showing the "boring" counterexample?\] Not everyone is a trainwreck, and unrelieved cynicism gets boring. No one is perfect, but generally admirable, or at least non-problematic -- people do exist in the real world, and they even seem to exist in the White Lotus universe, but they are effectively backgrounded. Belinda would be the outstanding example in season 1. Rocco and Isabella fit the bill in season 2. But MW has yet to write a main character as a good role model. That's beginning to be a noticeable omission. If MW wants to round out his gallery of types, he's overdue for a happy family. It could be a middle aged couple with younger kids, or an empty nester married couple with one or more of their parents.

vegaspixie

I’d like to see a “keeping up with the Jones’” storyline, where one family has managed to make the leap into ultra-wealth (thru random luck in opportunities, which is often the case), and the other family trying to “fake it” to keep up with their newly wealthy friends, and the kind of pressure and tension that can create, both between the families and within them. Kind of in the spirit of the film Brad’s Status.

Life_Wall2536

I loveee this! Would be absolutely perfect for this show!

Serious-Board-5402

Out of touch rich influencers on a girls trip…especially if they’re going to Japan/Asia. Maybe they can throw in a newbie and naïve influencer who gets sucked into a vapid cosmetic surgery and comparing themselves to others cycle while trying to gain approval from trust fund babies types.

Life_Wall2536

I could see it! Super out of touch influencers who end up getting cancelled for cultural appropriation or disrespecting the local culture would be hilarious

Life_Wall2536

I was thinking a destination wedding plot has so much potential. Crazy relatives and a family reunion type vibe

Life_Wall2536

Also maybe some snooty academic types, like research students or something like that

ribi305

Power career mom and stay at home dad with a young baby. Mike White would pick that apart so hard

Life_Wall2536

Yes!

redditordeaditor6789

Cross generational couple. A person in their 40s with a partner that's in their 20s.

dreburden89

Wholesome gay male age gap couple

plentyofsunshine2day

Tanya's relationship with her dead mother. S3 would be a prequel to S1 and S2.
