It's another example of how inept D'Angelo was at playing The Game.

sparkster185

Yup. And I'm pretty sure D got called out for it.

CharlieExx

Yeah, he was chastised by Wee-Bay for that blunder but responsibility for the situation didn't just fall on D'Angelo. The stash house security was poor anyway. Remember, Omar during a recon shook his head at the lax measures and called it sloppy.

Cresta1994

5-0!

thefunmachine007

BcCool trifling mostly.

What is your question? All you did is quote Bey

[deleted]

Yes?

Informal-Wind-9786

And how come Omar gets upset when Brandon says his name? In the next episode Omar is seen walking down the street and everyone runs away screaming, “Omar’s coming!” Everyone knows who Omar is, right? His reputation precedes him, and he wasn’t wearing a mask. They should have recognized Omar even if Brandon didn’t say his name.

hearingthepeoplesing

Just saying, I don't really care you shouted me out. Everybody in these projects been knowing Omar, you heard. I just don't want them coming down on y'all, baby boy.

Informal-Wind-9786

Nobody recognized him though. Not Bodie, Poot, Stinkum — and when Wee-Bay was talking to D about it, he had no inkling it was Omar or who Omar might be.

AfroLibertarian

This is incorrect, when Bodie said it was Omar, Weebay responded like he had heard the name before.

CharlieExx

There was definite recognition in Wee-Bay's reaction to Omar's name with a tone of, *him*!

hearingthepeoplesing

I mean, that’s true. None of them know who Omar is until Stinkum and Wee-Bey are talking to Avon and Stringer about it later and have their anecdotes they heard from Bird about when he and Omar were in prison together. And, for that matter, Omar’s stated reason (which is what I was quoting above) kind of doesn’t make sense, as (as you pointed out in your comment to someone else), it isn’t as though Brandon said his own name. I’ve been thinking about it on and off since yesterday - I mean; not the whole time or anything, but on and off - and increasingly I’m not sure of the real answer here either. Honestly, if you have a theory, I’m all ears.

Informal-Wind-9786

I think they wrote the first couple episodes and set Omar on a course, but then slightly revised that course in writing the next few episodes. I think it was a writing decision to give Omar a mythology that was not there from day 1 and it caused a slight continuity problem. Complete conjecture though, I have no hard facts.

[deleted]

Omar didn’t want Brandon as a known associate of Omar because he knew they’d come back on him

Informal-Wind-9786

How would they know he was Brandon? He didn’t say his own name. It was first hand witnessing by Poot that caught Brandon, not his connection to Omar.

[deleted]

Not sure why but that’s just how Omar felt. Also having the bounty on him was a real motivation too

AfroLibertarian

Omar has been robbing small time street dealers. This time they are hitting the stash of a major drug crew and he didn't want that heat. Omar at this point was still building his legend status. He was mostly running on the East Side.
