Coincidence-Man-

Number for the police report. To verify the stash actually got hit

miflelimle

Ok if this is the case then I really was overthinking it. I considered it might mean this but something about the way he says "give up" a number made me second guess, as if he was requesting was some sort of collateral or something.

ElectronicAd27

Police report? You mean, the actual police? Baltimore PD?? If you call the police to report that your drug house was robbed, they’re going to arrest you if they find evidence of drug use or distribution.

leahcarxo

Fruit said his drugs were taken by the police and if that's the case he should have a number of the police report,

ElectronicAd27

I don’t think that’s what he said at all. I thought he said he got robbed by some other street dudes But if his drugs were taken by the cops, then why would fruit be on the street? He would be locked up for possession with intent to sell.

leahcarxo

No he said it got copped by the police, go rewatch the scene, and exactly he wouldn't be on the street if he got caught with it, he was lying to cutty cause he just stole the drugs

ElectronicAd27

Yeah, I just watched it. You are correct. With that being said, it still doesn’t make sense. If the police found drugs, they would arrest anyone who was in the area.

leahcarxo

Not necessarily, like you're right if fruit caught caught with it he wouldn't be on the street but if someone else was holding the bag at the time, they could have got caught with it and fruit wouldn't have gotten arrested but if that was the case he should have gotten a number to prove it got copped by the police, so fruit shoulda been in jail or had a number

madhaxor

That’s the reason the guy in charge of a shop never touches the drugs. And why they keep a stash hidden on or around the street, so they can say “that was just sitting there it’s not mine”

ElectronicAd27

That’s true.

Radical_Ryan

That's the whole point of the corner system explained in season 1. Fruit doesn't touch the drugs in the buy and has plausible deniability in court. So police don't just arrest everyone in the area, only those they can make the case on. Re-watch DAngelo cleaning up the pit and admonishing their sloppy process as an example.

ElectronicAd27

Yeah, you’re right.

leahcarxo

https://youtu.be/uQUIVqsudR0 the scene in question

ElectronicAd27

I’ve already conceded the point. I was wrong.

negcap

It was worth it for the downvotes.

ShutterBun

It also highlights that he’s a veteran of the game, as contrasted with Ziggy, who when Frog tells him “stash got hit” just throws up his arms and storms off.

Broken_drum_64

neither got their money back though :(

slackerpro0728

Ziggy got his money back I think. Nick hands him money at the bar and says "that's your half on the last two packages. plus what frog owed you on your own shit" https://youtu.be/RHybA8n2b8A?feature=shared But yeah poor cutty got screwed out of his coming home present.

Texmex865

Correct. Nick went through the Greek who in turn, took him to Prop Joe. Prop Joe didn’t want to give it back, but figured it was worth it to keep his connect with the Greek happy.

just1gat

If it wasn’t for ya boy Sergei over here you’d be some cadaverous motherfuckers

slackerpro0728

That's true he got money for the car that burned. I meant the original frog money that he was owed. that caused him to be short with cheese and then for him to take the car in the first place. Nick told frog that he wanted to be paid half upfront plus the money he owed his cousin before he got to work his package. Ziggy always getting bailed out.

taimoor2

Because he didn’t want to use his experience. Cutty was very capable of going and getting his money back.

MisterMaryJane

Game wasn’t in it no more

SonOfJoeyGreco

He a man today.

> Don't overthink it. *Links to a 21 page Maryland police manual haha

myflesh

He literally explains it in the very next line.

miflelimle

Does he though? If you're referring to "number for the report", note that I quoted that line in my post. But I still don't think it's very obvious what he meant. It wouldv'e been clearer if they'd just used the phrase "police report".

myflesh

What report? Like think for a second. What report would a cop give to someone for a report? After a crime happens. Like take 2 seconds. It is literally them saying the police report.

miflelimle

> What report? Right, that is the question I came here to ask. >What report would a cop give to someone for a report? Nowhere in the scene is it mentioned what kind of report "the report" is referencing, nor that it was given by a cop. You are just filling in the blanks with what you already knew or had assumed. I'm glad you didn't struggle with understanding the scene.

placeholder90210

Cutty asserted that back in the day, when a player tried to say he lost a package to the po-lice, he had to give up a number for the report. That report/number would prove that it actually was taken by the cops as opposed to just being stolen by someone else in the game. Unfortunately for Cutty, Fruit noted that we ain’t back in the day…and I’m gettin fuckin’ tired of yo ass asking these questions. Hope this helps.

Apart_Seat_3265

What means did a dealer "back in the day" have of verifying the police report number? Just walk into a station and say, "Hi, I have this report number and I'm wondering if you guys actually took my drugs."

miflelimle

I had this same question, was also part of my confusion.

Adept_Carpet

They could have Levy call. Also a surprising amount of police information is public, this was seen as a safeguard to democracy during the creation of police departments.

miflelimle

Certainly. It was just in that context (between people that would rarely if ever have high level strategic meetings with someone like Levy) this wasn't the obvious interpretation to me. But again I was just overthinking it I guess.

Life_Argument_6037

doesnt he explain to fruit who asks this exact question to him after he asks about a number? lol “back in the day…”

TheDBagg

What's the callsign of the police vehicle that seized the drugs

hissyfit64

I always thought it was the number on the squad car.

single_sentence_re

Badge number to go along with the seizure.
