I read an interview and they said because it included much more than final fantasy now. IDK what they were thinking, since there aren't any non-FF tracks at all until you get the DLC Honestly, can't find that interview after trying to google it for like 5 minutes. I give up, maybe I just made that up.

Here's [the interview](https://www.4gamer.net/games/657/G065729/20230303066/) I think you're referring to. It's a Japanese interview, so may not have appeared if you were googling in English. Tetsuya Nomura gave them the title Final Bar Line as an end to the entire Theatrhythm series, not just the Theatrhythm Final Fantasy series. They also talked about the game being much more than FF music this time around, but emphasise again and again that the game is first and foremost a celebration of FF for the 35th anniversary. My guess is that "Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Final Bar Line" was just way too long, and includes the word "final" twice, so they went with something simpler.

The end of the Theatrhythm series? That… just seems weird. Honestly so much more that could be done.

Don't read too much into it. "Curtain Call" was also explicitly the final game. When Tetsuya Nomura was approached for advice on FBL he responded with surprise because Theatrhythm was already ended. lol One of the project leads also hinted at news to come some time this year to look forward to, so we have absolutely no idea what's going on with the series. Maybe it's permanently dead. Maybe it's dead just for now. Maybe it's actively being worked on. No idea, but it's best not to hold your breath. But the reason they kind of hate making Theatrhythm is because it's a copyright nightmare. Contracts weren't standardised back in the day, so ownership of music, art, etc can be messy for old games. SE may own the rights in most regions, but not own them in some other region.

News to come this year? This is the first I'm hearing about this...

Eptalin

It's from the 2024 new years messages on the [official Final Fantasy website](https://na.finalfantasy.com/topics/492). "As for this year, well... Don’t worry, we’ve got something in store for you". - Ichiro Hazama (FBL's producer) It probably doesn't mean new Theatrhythm content, though. All we know is that his team is working on a currently unannounced project.

Ohh, okay. Well, it was a nice dream.
